Nailed in Columbia - set photos from our own Nicole!

A debt of gratitude indeed is owed to our own Nicole who spent five hours today on the set of Nailed in Columbia looking out for the great and the good - ie Jake Gyllenhaal! Jake wasn't to be seen - today anyway - but you can bet he wasn't far away, possibly in the very building pictured here. I'm sure I wasn't the only one who's been on tenterhooks waiting to hear how Nicole got on and it's so exciting knowing that there is every chance - when Jake is in your town, you just never know! Here are Nicole's three pictures from today.

Good luck to you, Nicole, for later in the week. You're clearly on the Jake Trail! And thanks for sharing your adventure with the rest of us, near or far.

And here is the Palmetto's Scoop account, with photographs, of an encounter on set with Paul Reubens, or Pee Wee Herman, who has a role in Nailed. I don't think you were too far away here, Nicole!

The girl below in the hat is Jessica but what about the guy with his back to us - is that Jake?

Photos from Nicole for WDW and Palmetto Scoop.

  2. Hey Nicole, you did great seeing this and taking pictures for us! I was out with Ruby tonight and coming home and seeing these pictures from you, knowing that someone we know was that close to the set, just made my night. It really did. Don't be disappointed that you didn't see Jake - you captured a part of the film and that's brilliant, especially for those of us who are so many miles away.

Just keep trying, be patient (filmmaking can be dull after all) and see what happens. I am so grateful to you for sending me your photographs - it's great to see them myself and wonderful to share them. We are excited for you! I think we'd all like to be there with you right now!

I'm glad it's such beautiful weather there - for you and Jake :D

    Just thrilled, thanks!

  3. Hi everyone! :)

Nicole, you don't know me, cause unfortunately I mostly lurk here (for a reason unknown to me I still haven't managed to change that...), I just wanted to wish you good luck for your mission tomorrow or the days to come! I can't even begin to imagine how exciting that must be to have Jake shooting in your hometown with a real chance to see him!!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

  6. Hey Uli my friend! Where have you been :D Good to see you. I know that if Jake were filming in my town I'd be mush. It was hard enough on the heartstrings having Peter here - Jake would push me over the edge! Nicole's doing a fine job for us. It's all about patience as well. I've always believed that if you want to see Jake it's not meant to be easy.

    Hi Monica :D

  7. Hey Monica - that really could be Jake! It's hard to tell. I'll add that picture to the site. the girl in the at is supposed to be Jessica :)

  8. Wow! It's so good to know Jake's back at work, and so exciting to have a first hand account of it all! Thank you, Nicole! Good luck for tomorrow, hopefully you'll get to spot Jake for us at some point :) Maybe you should just pitch a pup tent on the QT and sleep there;)

Not sure if that's Jake in that pic, whoever it is looks like he has a slight bald patch, although that could be a trick of the light or my dodgy eyesight. I'll just have to compare and contrast with all my pics of Jake's back:D

  9. I've updated the post! Good hunch, Monica :D That could well be Jake!

  10. Hey TL!! You're back - hope you had a good break with your family and glad to have you back Jaking where you belong - although I'd like to point out that 'Jake' and 'bald patch' are not allowed in the same sentence. It's all to do with light. Great to see you!

It's so good to have a first hand accout of the goings on in Columbia :)

  11. Hi WDW! Like I said... I've been lurking :D :D

Yeah, you meeting Peter! How awesome was that? And even more so because it was so unexpected!!!

I will never get the chance of seeing Jake while he is filming where I live I guess - unless I move to a different planet :D

  12. I'm with TL. If that's Jake, he's losing hair! :D

thanks for a fun evening WDW.

  13. Well I'm glad to see you delurking, Uli :D I was amazed to see Peter. I had no idea he'd be around and the coincidence of walking to work past all these trailers. And then later not expecting Peter and there he was in my home town! You just never know.

Hi Rubes - glad you got home OK :) A great night - but I'm still hungry... Wonderful to get back to Nicole's pics.

  14. Admire the Peter since Jarhead.
Has he made a movie with Val Kilmer that I love. I love the character of it.
    As sweet and as friend!

  15. LOL at the "bald patch"... Well, I wonder if that could be the light, when there isn't really any light at all...

Jake getting bald is really hard to imagine... I'd rather not do it!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Hey WDW! It's good to be back:D

Having enlarged and studied the pic closely, there's definitely a lighter patch on the top of Mr X's head, so if it is Jake, he's either going bald or going grey! If it IS Jake, I hope it's the latter!

  17. Hi Monica - I love Peter :D

Hey Uli - no way is that a B*** P**** on Jake. I was judging by the breadth of the shoulders :) Jake has soooo much hair, he's got plenty to spare :)

Had a great time with Ruby (swordfish on a skewer) but need a pudding :D

I wish I was in Columbia with Nicole - what an adventure.

  18. Hey TL! So good to see you! Never let family visits get in the way of Jaking, OK?? (I shouldn't say that as I have a wedding coming up!). I've had too much peroni and shiraz to make meaningful judgements about the pic so I respect your opinion :D

  19. This Photocasting belongs to a Brazilian who lives in London.
She already took photos with many celebrities as: Jude Law, Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, Christian Bale, Ewan McGregor and many others.
She could not take a picture of Jake in the Bafta 20007.
The one she took was this:

  20. Hey WDW! I know what you're saying, but if my mum knew about my secret Gyllenhaalic life she'd probably have me commited, which would mean no more Jaking EVER!!! Perish the thought! Let's keep an open mind about the pic for now then:)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hey Monica - thanks for that. I love to see pics of Jake on the bafta red carpet - sigh - what a day :D

Hi TL - I won't whisper a word in front of your mum :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Thanks Nicole for the pics :)

And WDW for bring them to us :)

Bald patch and Jake??? lol... I don't know, i think that guy's back looks a bit too "beefy"... and the shape of the head doesn't really.... i dunno. :P

oh... and good luck tomorrow :)

  23. Jke does have a little kinda cowlick on the top of his head, where the hair grows funny. not a bald spot. I always think I'd know Jake anywhere, but dont know about this picture.

a friend today couldnt stop laughing as I told her all I "know" about Jake - down to detailed description of his shoes, on various occasions.

When Jake is in MY honetown even though I no longer live in Gr Village NYC I go absolutely bonkers.

Pee Wee Herman? This is a really odd bunch - Jake, have a ball!

  24. Thanks Nicole and WDW!! I love seeing these pics and reading your accounts of the filming in S.C. I do wish you good luck for Jake sighting..I know you would be thrilled as would I just to see the photo you might get..or to read about it. I hope you get as lucky with Jakey as our own WDW got with Mssr. Saarsgard. Lucky lucky..WDW!! :-) Always love reading this site..it is the best Jake site on the WWW..
    Hugs..from Michele

  25. Greetings,

I am glad to see that you are going to give it another go tomorrow Nicole. You might as well you never know if the weather will be crap by the weekend. Good luck. We all will be waiting on pins and needles for your account.

It sounds like ya'll had a good evening out WDW. Was the pudding good?

Don't worry TL my mom doesn't now about my obsession either. I would def get an psychiatric evaluation.

Also, I am ignoring any discussion involving Jake and a bald patch.

    *covers ears*

    La la la la

  28. Judging from the suit, it looks like Paul Reubens might be playing an assistant to a senator--? I'd bet money that Jake can do a wicked PeeWee Herman imitation. Can you imagine the silliness that'll ensue late at night after too many hours on the set and folks get a little punchy? Oh, to be a fly on the wall of that set, lol.

  29. Thank you, Nicole!!!! Wonderful pics of the set. You are doing us all proud! :D

And we have new pics of Jake onset at IHJ!! *Squee*

Btw, I don't think that is Jake in the restaurant pic.

Thanks again, WDW for the fantastic posting.

  30. Morning everyone! So good to see you all and the new pics of Jake - oh to be the lady with the brolly :D

So Nicole you are on the right track! Good luck today! Can't wait to hear how you get on :)

Sigh, have to go to work, hard with all this excitement going on. Back shortly :D

Have a good day everyone - Good luck Nicole!

  32. Thank you so much for sharing, Nicole!
Wow, you made us have a peek of the set!!:)

And good luck for today, maybe today is The Day, who knows? :)

  33. I don't think it's Jake, WDW - too broad, and I think the lighter patch indicates balding too.

Hope you and Rubes had a great time yesterday - I miss you being down here :)

Good luck to nicole for today too.

  34. am I being over sensitive or did WDW call me 'swordfish-on-a-skewer'?! :( is there something fishy about me?

Well I guess Jake is sex-on-a-stick so we go well together

I don't think that's him in the pic... Although whoever it is clearly has the focussed attention of the person sitting to their left, so maybe. :D

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hi everyone :D

I don't think that's Jake either now I'm wearing a sober head. I do appear to have called you a 'swordfish on a skewer' Ruby - but it was delicious!

Hey Anouska - I miss you too...

    Hi Rosie and Xenia :D

Thank you Michele for the kind comment *)

And hi there Winterbird, Pia, Bird Girl, Monica, JoeAnn and Get Real :DD

Sending good vibes out to Nicole!

  36. G'day sweetpeeps!

Explain the umbrella, am I missing something?

Good decision, Nicole! - have a great day!

  37. Hi everyone!
Thank you so much WDW and Nicole for sharing the pics with us!
I can't tell how excited I am for you Nicole! I so hope you can see him asap!
I'd find it exciting seeing a movie filmed in my town (sometimes they do), can't imagine the excitement of having Jake there aswell! (btw I've seen on imdb that Catherine Keener has been filming in my town for a movie titled "Genova" - name of my town - it's a small world!)

Well Nicole, it seems now you have a new way to find Jake: if you see someone carrying an open black umbrella when it's not even raining, well, maybe under that umbrella there's Jake :P
(I still can't get this thing, it looks so weird to me!)

Have a lovely afternoon guys ;)

    ReplyDelete
  38. The umbrella holder is common on movie sets. It's not always because it is raining. It is her job and many times it is because they don't want makeup or other wardrobe or stuff ruined by sun or other damage. It does seem strange but I don't think Jake is purposely having this woman carry his umbrella. Especially when it doesn't look like it is raining. It is most likely about the movie production.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hi, Get Real. I figured. Learn something new every day. Bardem kept sweating under his make up in Love In the Time and it came out of his eyes like tears. Guess you gotta keep the actors from sweating in the noonday sun. Fascinating.

But it must feel strange to have someone on yr tail like that -

    ReplyDelete
  40. Thank you Get Real for the explanation, I had been thinking about the make up and dress thing too, but since in the pics it's not even particularly sunny and he doesn't seem to be dressed for the filming, it seemed weird to me :P But well how can I know how he's supposed to dress for the movie :-/
I was kind of disappointed, 'cause at first those pics looked kind of snob to me :P and I know Jake has never been that way, so I guess you're right, it's not his decision but production's and who knows, maybe it feels weird for him too :D

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hi there!

Damn, I'm a slave to work and I'm unable to join in the discussion right now, but have to say that the one thing I've learnt over the years is that film sets are extremely strange places and normal rules do not reply! Jake is clearly at work here and focused. At the An Education film set none of the actors/actresses could do anything without being fussed over - especially hair and makeup and wardrobe. The fact that someone is being paid to hold an umbrella over the leading actor (lucky lady!) doesn't mean Jake is a snob. Or even that it's raining :D

Hope you're all having a good day... Roll on hometime....

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'm sorry, I realize I may have sounded silly or mean towards Jake, (doubting he's snob) of course didn't mean to.. It's just a matter of not knowing things :-/
    Now I know :) Thanks ;)

    ReplyDelete
  43. well guys something came up and I won't be able to make it to the set until later this afternoon..I hope that this is a sign..i was really looking forward to spending the whole day at the set..but it just might be my luck that the good stuff happens later in the evening (6 pm my time)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hey Good Girl - you didn't sound silly or mean at all :) Those pics can look that way out of context.

Hi Nicole! That could be a good sign - I saw Peter at 6pm our time! Be great to see some more pics - if you send any across I'll get up early to put them up :D Good luck!

  45. I've got that bloody Umbrella song stuck in my head now!!!

I guess having someone hold your umbrella for you is one of the perks of being a Movie Star, I seem to recall a pic from the 2006 Baftas where Jake was under an umbrella that someone was holding for him(mind you, it was actually raining then!). And in fairness, Jake does have both his hands full. I agree with Get Real and WDW, it's probably just the way they do things on film sets and not Jake being diva-ish. If we hear reports about Jake demanding that the sofa in his trailer be placed exactly two metres and 52 cm from the TV or bowls of M&Ms with all the green ones taken out, that's the time to start worrying;D

Good luck for later, Nicole - fingers crossed for you!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Hey WDW,slaving over a hot desk,it'll soon be home time ;-)

Yippeeeeee! TL is back on WDW! Great to have you back matey, have missed you!! (Good to see Uli here too!).

Well done Nicole for those photos of the set-wishing you oodles of luck when you go down there again later today. With so many people sending you "bump into Jake" vibes, surely it must happen in the next few days :-D

I'm with TL,Nouskie and Rubes here(hi girls xxx),WDW,broad and muscular as Jake's shoulders are, this chap seems broader still in general and the first thing I noticed was that he appeared to be growing through his hair,so I don't think it's Jake. Mind you,I am over-due an eye test ;-)

The brolly shots are a bit weird,Jake looking serious and preoccupied and seemingly oblivious to the lady minion shadowing him with the umbrella. Mind you,if you go around grinning like a donkey at a thistle for no apparent reason, you risk being carted off in a strait-jacket. He's obviously in work-mode here and having a designated umbrella-carrier when it's not even raining is probably one of the least loopy conventions of the weirdness that is life on a film set.

    ReplyDelete
  47. well he'd look and feel like a fool carrying the umbrealla himself, I guess; but I think he'd feel like a geisha: I would.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Hi everyone! Made it home - so busy out there and I think every tourist in the universe is in Oxford today.

Hey TL - glad you're able to get at your PC again! But whaddya have against green M&Ms eh??

Hi Nadine - filmsets are certifiably loopy. I suppose if a PA has to follow you around she might as well be doing something - like carrying an umbrella. The rain, or lack of it, is irrelevant. Unions!

Hi there Pia - I'd be uncomftable too. I'm glad he had other stuff to carry.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Afternoon everyone,

Sorry TL, I didn't mean to put that stupid song in your head. It was just what came to me when I saw that picture. It is like a fungus that grows on you. Thank you Rhianna!

    Good luck Nicole. :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Hey Birdgirl! I wasn't blaming you for the Umbrella song,it just came into my head straight away when I saw the pic too:)

And WDW, I have nothing against green M&Ms (and I'm sure Jake doesn't either!) it was just one of my typically random comments. I would like to offer my sincere apologies to any green M&Ms,or green M&M lovers, who may have been offended by my comments;)

Nadine - I've missed you too xx

    ReplyDelete
  51. Hey Bird Girl and TL - I put a little pressie in the new post, just for you too :D

I accept your apology, TL, on behalf of all green M&Ms that may be reading the site today.
