Jake - 'like Christmas and my birthday, if I have no expectations I will have a much better day and night'

Recent sightings of Jake Gyllenhaal in the Strom gym in South Carolina suggest that Jake may be in training for a new action role, possibly as the Prince of Persia, an opinion supported and given extra validation by our fevered imagination. But one reason why we may think this, is that Jake has done it before - to a lesser extent for The Day After Tomorrow and to a jaw-droppingly monumental extent for Jarhead. Participating in what sounded like a virtual triathlon every day of the week showed a degree of dedication most of us may never experience and the results, when paired with a shaved head, were enough to almost frighten Jake, his parents and small children and animals. However, it didn't have that affect on much of Jake's fanbase.

This article in the UK's Sunday Mirror features an interview with the man who put the iron into Jake's pump and turned a sensitive actor into someone who spent a fair amount of the Jarhead shoot either throttling, punching and threatening his co-stars or driving them insane with the repetitive misuse of music.

'Real Gulf War hero and Vietnam vet, Sergeant Major James Dever: "I made him live, breathe and sleep like a Marine," recalls Dever. "I showed him how they act, what they feel and how they bond. By the end of it...well, I guess we made an impression."' Unfortunately, this may not have been reciprocated because Sgt Dever also admits that Jake phoned him about Brokeback Mountain: 'Jake told me DON'T go see the movie because he knows how I am. I haven't seen it and I'm not going to. It is not one of the movies I would see. I saw Jarhead twice though as I like it.' Well, that's something, I suppose.

'The boot camp was so authentic that Jake had to call his trainer Sgt Major all the time. And to help him get into the role he was only addressed as Swoff - his part in Jarhead. "Jake really got into being a Marine. He wasn't great with drill but picked up weapons training pretty quick," says Dever, who retired from the US Army in 1998.'

This article also reveals the sensitive side of Jake with some honest answers about his view of himself as an awkward teenager: '"I was always really awkward and I still remember my first time with a girl," says Jake. "I was 15 and it was really clumsy and bad. "Taking off your clothes and having sex is such an intense experience. Then later nobody knows what to say to the other, even though nothing bad has actually happened. I'm still awkward with girls. I've never really grown out of it."' And, as a child, Jake learned that it is better to expect little and be surprised, a view that he brought with him to the BAFTAs back in 2006: 'The award is totally unexpected. It was such an honour just to be nominated. I have only seen other people do this. I didn't really expect it at all. But I have learned that, like Christmas and my birthday, if I have no expectations I will have a much better day and night.'

Not surprisngly, Jake seems to have revelled in his Jarhead self-confidence, so much so that he experienced no fear for the Santa hat scene: 'It was a scene that was written and as an actor you normally go through and read the dialogue - the only dialogue in that scene was, "Merry Christmas," - so I was like, "Oh, whatever," and then I'd just get onto the next scene where, you know, we had a lot of dialogue. I was more interested in those until I was sitting there naked in the middle of the desert with a Santa hat on my crotch! No real preparation involved. And no fear!

Jake talks more about the aggression that came into play on the Jarhead set here in the Daily Mail: 'We got no sleep, we worked every day non-stop and there was little communication with friends and loved ones. We were shooting some stuff in Mexico for two-and-a-half weeks. I was losing my mind by this point... You've got to let things out, and sometimes it got a little out of control... We just all got aggressive with each other, frustrated and bickered." But this was all part of dircetor Sam Mendes' plan: 'Yeah, Sam knew what he was up to. It was bringing the reality to 14 guys. We all rehearsed for a month and they put us in the middle of the desert. It wasn't like we were still learning our lines. He just put us in the desert and we all ended up hating each other, so it was great... Those ******* Oxbridge-educated directors.'

This Oxbridge-educated director also held up Jamie Foxx as a model for his other actors to the extent that, one senses, it did begin to grate: 'Sam would actually use it as an excuse whenever he was punishing other actors. *puts on fake British accent* "JAMIE FOXX! EVERY DAY! HE COMES HERE EVERY DAY AND HE'S AN ACADEMY AWARD WINNING ACTOR! HE'S ALWAYS ON HIS BEST BEHAVIOUR!"' I don't know if the caps suggests that Jake thinks British people always shout when they talk or if that is a reflection of Sam's volume on set.

An Education continued

There has been another media visit to the set of An Education, Peter Sarsgaard's movie in progress, which I have enjoyed following here. This visit focuses on Alfred Molina, who plays the father of young heroine Carey Mulligan. And we get to hear more of the storyline: 'This is the first time that Nick Hornby has written a screenplay not based on one of his own novels, and it’s a fictionalised, gently morally probing version of the evocative, sexually candid and rebarbative short memoir published in Granta by journalist and doyenne of interviewers, Lynn Barber.'

'Hornby has changed the names, but he’s kept most of the facts and poignant period conundrums: Jenny, a 16-year-old schoolgirl preparing for Oxbridge at a ‘posh’ London suburban school in 1962, having allowed herself to be wined, dined and seduced by an older man – flash-talking Bristol-driving, Rachman-esque property developer David (Peter Sarsgaard) – finds to her dismay that her parents, rather than protect her from him, spy a potential husband. It may be a comedy of errors, but in the scene I’m watching, Jenny’s confusion, disappointment, frustration and fears are reducing her to tears.' I can't wait to see it.

That's a very good philosophy to have and certainly in people too - its wonderful to be surprised. Unfortunately for Jake my expectations for his career and acting talents are quite high so I need to adjust this, allow for speed bumps and be surprised by his performances.

Hi WDW, perhaps your little stay at home will be a great opportunity for more wonderful posts and surprise interviews, information on our favourite man. Please get well soon.

Love the pictures as well *swoon* I loved that shaved head as his beautiful hair didn't get in the way of those beautiful eyes, mouth, nose, body...... erm... ok. (I've stunned myself into silence thinking of that bod...)

I was so incensed (I don't know why) that for the network premier of BBM on Channel 4 they keep getting Jake's surname wrong so if you can guys contact Chanel 4 on this number 0845 076 0191 (lo-call number) or email using the web form (the link is huge so I won't post it). and tell them to get his name right because it's an important film that will touch many people after Sunday.I hope it touches them as deeply as it has touched us all here. I've just called them and they said they'll pass it on.

15? *huge grin*

I'm going to see Brokeback tomorrow on a big screen again. After 2,5 years. One of the cinemas in my city is having an all-night movie marathon with lots of wonderful films. Blue-eyed Jack Twist on a large screen.

wow..I also love the pictures!! I'm trying to find out where they will be filming today and tomorrow because my friend drove by that same park again and said everything was gone..I just can't get enough of seeing Jake in person..

Hi Sheba! Good for you with phoning Channnel 4 - they should know better. When Jake was over here recently I remember they were getting his name wrong - it doesn't take much homework to get it right.

I'm feeling much better now, thanks - well rested and completely stir crazy!! I'm glad you liked the pictures - I was never a big fan of the Jarhead cut on Jake but I love the grin that so often went with it :D

Oh Zodiac, have a wonderful time! How wonderful to see BBM on the big screen again. I know I have that treat to look forward to next month and I cannot wait. It's been way too long! Have a great time and tell us how it went, what the audience was like etc :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Nicole - we were posting at the same time :D Jake can have that effect - never enough Jake. I'll keep my ears open. Good luck :D I'm glad you liked the pictures :)

What do you mean WDW, is it going to be screened on the big screen again? Is it only in London? I'd love to see it in the cinema again. How lovely for you Zodiac to be getting that opportunity again.

HiWDW! Sorry you haven't been well, hope you feel better soon. I haven't been able to post, but have been lurking and reading your always informative and enjoyable posts and pics. Getting even more curious about seeing Nailed. Thanks for all of your great reports from the set, Nicole!

BBM on the big screen again *sigh*. We recently got an HDTV and Blueray Discentertainment center, and of course the picture is fabulous, but I'm just blown away by the stereo system and that gorgeous soundtrack, even the sounds of nature on the mountain make you feel you are right there. When Ennis and Jack come together again for their reunion kiss, it's like the music of the spheres reverberating from the time they first met. One of the most beautiful romances I have ever, ever seen. There's nothing like BBM on the big screen. :)

I also saw "the scene" from Renditon in high def - there are just no words. ;)

Hey Sheba - There's a Brokie get together being planned for Oxford at the end of June and its highlight is a screening of BBM in Oxford's loveliest old cinema - if you're interested, do email me :D

Bertie - good to see you! I've missed you :D What a wonderfully evocative description of Brokeback - I love its depiction of the wide open spaces - you can smell the cold, crisp mornings. Ahem... and The Scene in high Def... some scenes were just made for it :DD

fly-by comment: I am loving the Jarhead pic feast and a philosophical Jake :)

btw, my throat starts to seriously hurt, so I need some strong honey green tea... could it because I frequent here too often? Is the bug transmittable through "Jaking"???

Just popped out to pick up my Little Man. Thank you I will. I'm absolutely dreading seeing BBM again as I don't know how I will feel. But watching it with others who may feel the same way will help :DD

My beautiful little boy showed me a picture he slyly took of me on my phone and its the first time I'm hapy with any photograph taken of me. It was while I was on the computer of course at Wet Dark and Wild and I had the most happiest look on my face, Its so good to be here. Its like taking a happy pill every day.

I was thinking of the 'random' things you've encountered like a knight walking down the street or a meerkat on a dog lead and I've got one. Yesterday while I was driving there was a man walking down the street with... a gigantic snake wrapped three times loosly around his neck. People were crossing over the road to avoid it. That was so scary.

And to finish with Jake... I believe he enjoys choosing projects with directors that will take him to places he's not tried before with a 'wait and see what comes out' approach. I'm sure he loved that ******* Oxbridge-educated director.'

Hi Winterbird - do take care and look after yourself - I will hope I haven't given you my bug via Jake :( I'm glad you liked the post :D

Hey Sheba - it'd be good to hear from you :) That's lovely about the pic and I'm so glad - putting it mildly - that this is a happy place for you. Heaven knows, it certainly is for me - I'd have been climbing walls over the last week if not for all of you :D

OMG - a man with a big snake round his neck?? I'm so glad it's not just me who gets these 'mystic visions' as Anouska calls them :D

Sam Mendes was great for Jake.

Hi Nicole - I saw that and I feel rather resigned to more trouble. I'm sure it'll get sorted and soon but seriously this is hopeless! The crew deserve to get paid and shouldn't do another thing until they get some assurance as the actors have done.

It's good this is getting so much attention as I had no idea all this went on in the movie business and it's unacceptable. Taking off my union hat... I hope all the problems are soon solved for everyone and Jake can get this one in the can and move on to something else :D

sheba said...

Oh no. Not again. I hope this film sees the light of day, perhaps it may by sheer will of all of us that wants to see it to fruition. Poor David. It is good though to hear about the process and I hope the actors take it in their stride.

I was surprised to hear Jake talk about his first time (don't think I've seen that interview before) I love his openness about such a personal thing, its very brave of him. So, innocence was lost at age 15? His awkwardness with women now I'm sure has disappeared into the stratosphere. I now have the image of Jake in a hoodie and a skeleton outfit walking down the stairs holding hands and stepping in time with his first.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Sheba - it's got to be disrupting and extremely aggravating but I'm sure Jake and everyone else would want to know that the crew are being paid. I just hope that tomorrow the same processes that assured the actors' and directors' unions can come into play for the technical workers. I'm sure it will.

This was a really amazing interview of Jake's - very honest and open and personal. He can be very open with foreign press, in this case the British media when he won his BAFTA back in 2006. The very fact that Jake could speak of such a personal thing suggests to me that the awkwardness was in the past. But I love to hear him sound just like the rest of us, going through those horrible teenage years and experiences :)

To paraphrase Homer Simpson: Mmmm....Jarhead... I have nothing else to say. Thank you, WDW :)

Thanks for the info about contacting Channel 4, Sheba. I was going to look into that but haven't had a chance today. I think I'll email them rather than phone, cos I'll start ranting.

I'm having computer problems and can't get the link about Nailed to work, but it sounds like there's more financial problems. It's the crew and other less well paid workers I feel really sorry for,but it can't be much fun for Jake either:( I hope they get it sorted soon and I hope someone is making a Behind The Scenes documentary as well, cos that sounds like it will be even better entertainment than the actual film.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey TL - I knew you'd like a Jarhead post :D Sorry to hear about your computer troubles. But I'm with you on feeling sorry for the workers on Nailed. But because it's such a high profile project I would have thought it will work out for them all and hopefully the project will finish with a huge sigh of relief all round and then they can go to the pub. I'm already looking forward to the DVD Making of documentary!

And rant away at C4 (and tell them to watch where they stick their adverts) :D

sheba said...

It's really facinating to watch all this unfold before us TL - yeah, you're right, the crew will be the ones getting the raw deal here. Who works for free now in these difficult times? Now don't get me started on the price of petrol >:o( I trust David will have his video diary - he's done it for most of his films.

I'm curious Bertie. About the scene in Rendition. Are you talking about the scene outside or is it THE Scene inside?

WDW, It's a shame but I don't think we'll hear Jake speak so candidly about his life like that anymore. I remember in that interview with that nosy woman who snuck the Reese question in at the last minute I think he said "I only answer questions now that I can give an honest answer to" so perhaps that will be his stock answer now - I certainly hope not.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Sheba, that's great to hear david keeps film video diaries :D It'll be a corker for this one, although hopefully spat free. I agree that it's unlikely Jake would be so open or unguarded again. I suppose the more famous you become the more wary you have to be. But sometimes Jake just can't help himself! The problem is we only get these interviews when the films are out so we still have some time to wait for the next bunch :(

Hi Sheba,

It's "The Scene", which for me anyay, means that beautiful waking up in bed scene! The one with one arm raised and slightly over his eyes, and the bedhead hair, but looking like he could use a good morning kiss planted on those beautiful lips. That girl must have been crazy to get up before him, I'd be late for work for that. *sigh* I'm just awful, don't encourage me! :)

About BBM, the Oxford Brokie get-together sounds wonderful. I take great comfort in watching it now. I wondered how I would feel watching it after the loss of Heath (I can barely even think it!). The first time I watched it after, I had a smile from ear-to-ear throughout most of it, just marveling again at how beautiful he was and how he became Ennis, and cried in the usual parts that make me cry. The second time, I cried just about all the way through it, and now I can watch it and feel and enjoy all it's warmth and great promise of love, and sadness at the realization of that great love too late. What a great, great film.

It looks as if Capital films fits right into our credit crunch here. I don't understand it all but I know the ability to obtain credit/financing of anything...housing etc... is hard to come by.

I hope you feel better real soon. My smoke weary lungs are quick to betray me whenever the allergy season arrives. arrgh.
So, now I'm on antibiotics, cough syrup, a steroid nasal spray an inhaled bronchodilator spray and another steroid inhaled spray...all because I smoked for more than twenty years.
I am totally happy Jake quit. I've been quit for 22 years but it was too late for me. no more whining...

Hey Bertie - oh, love that scene... I rmember somethig similar when I saw Brokeback too. The first time I saw it after Heath died I drew a great deal of comfort from it. I've found other films harder, maybe because BBM is so much for me about Jack and Ennis. Other films - like I'm Not There and Knight's Tale - I see Heath and I find it harder. BBM is never easy to see but I long to see it again with people who feel the same, I've not done that before :)

It's like a bloomin rollercoaster ride. Definitely one for the history books!!

Oh Yes! That scene. I love the music that introduces us to sleepy Jake, it's so sexy. No wonder he was suspicious of her after waking up and not finding her beside him - who would do that :DD.

I do feel it for those of you who suffer when its Summertime. Who know those little fluffy things can cause so much misery. I was looking on the internet for natural remedies for friends who are suffering and they suggest high vitamin doses and dark fruit and betacarotine so I guess beetroot and carrot - incidently that is a fantastic natural drink if you have a juice extractor (depends on individual tastes I guess).

BTW WDW, how do you communicate when you've lost your voice. Do you have to write everything down, or do you use your hands or play charades? I can imagine the conversations you must have been having with Ruby and Mr WDW hehehe.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Nicole :D Yep, Jake is good on using exercise to help him focus - and it has good end results too... ;) But fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Good for you TL - kind of reminds me of the time you told off the Jonathan Ross lady for mispronouncing Jake's name :D I think with Nailed we just have to accept these 'problems' but know that this is a more valuable project finished than abandoned, so it'll probably work out but hopefully with everyone paid!

Hey Sheba

I can't imagine a better start to a film than having Jake open it like he did Rendition. Could hardly believe it when I saw it, and all the time wondering what Jake thought of it a few rows down from me in the theatre!

I don't do so bad with allergies as I get older as the new, improved drugs work for me but my summers were miserable as a child. But I have only one thing to say - beetroot - ugh!! Yuck, I hate that vegetable, almost as much as artichokes.

Mr WDW works away in the week, fortunately for him this week!, so he's been spared the worst of it, but I had a very 'entertaining' phone call to Ruby last night after I got home when I couldn't get anything out! Much better now though :)

...but don'tcha think that's part of his appeal Pia? He's so random with his thoughts and like a box of chocolates you never know what you're gonna get :DDD

Anonymous said...

Definitely part of his appeal, Sheba! But every now and then I think Jake and Maggie dont know how to stop -

Do I want to know that mom doesnt shave her legs? (No. . . )

Do I want to know that Jake's first sexual experience at age fifteen was, to use his expression, awkward? (Not really. . )

And as for the box a chocolate every now and then I come on a bear, I mean a choc covered cherry - (oh no!) :) :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Ginny :D Good to see you and I'm so glad you liked the eye candy :D Thanks so much for the good wishes, I'm feeling much better this evening :)

Ey up Pia :D Problem is, never enough :)

Hi Sheba :D Jake and chocolate - love that combination :D

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Pia - I think this is just something Jake did and Maggie still does. But as much of the blame for this one lies with me as I resurrected an old interview - it may well not be representative of how Jake feels about himself now, but I'm interested in the journey and so like to explore the path. On the way, it throws up details not everyone wants to read, I suppose. But I find it and him fascinating, especially when Jake talks about his own experiences of things we've all gone through.

Have to agree on the cherry chocolates - yuck! Right up there with beetroot chocolate :D

Anonymous said...

Oh, I thought that was very sweet, WDW. Jake never ceases to amaze in that he is always so real and open. Probably now, he no longer feels awkward, but if so, I'm sure there are many ladies who would just love to put him at ease. And for my little bit of TMI, my first experience was very lovely and amazing. :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Anon - thank you for that - a lovely, warm comment :D

sheba said...

Ooo.... Lovely and Amazing... I hope it didn't have the same ending :DDD

I feel it's good that Jake and Maggie's openness and honesty is obviously encouraged by mom and dad. To be honest, I'd proudly tell anyone that my mom is a natural beauty that has never, ever, shaved her legs in her life and they're not hairy. And since we're being open here, neither have I (hahaha - but true - Aw shucks, now when I get to meet you folks you're gonna be looking at my legs!)

I loved that Jake took the heat off that scary life threatening incident by telling us that the lovely Stephen was going comando after escaping the fire (did he say Mom was too?). I'm sure Jake doesn't like any of us to get too comfortable in knowing what he's like and what he's gonna say or do next. It keeps us watching and totally interested in this imperfect, undefineable totally unpredictable beautiful man.

Mmmmm.... Jake and chocolate. Thornton's cappuchino chocolates.....

O WDW Im not saying I dont want to know what I dont want to know - be assured, I LUV to know every detail and interview of Jake's life and times -

You're welcome, WDW! And Sheba, I haven't even seen Lovely and Amazing yet, and I'd really like to.

It keeps us watching and totally interested in this imperfect, undefineable totally unpredictable beautiful man.

What a perfect description, Sheba! Jake keeps us fascinated, that's for sure. :)

Awww I thought it was very sweet to see that vulnerable, awkward side of him as well. Especially when he usually comes across as so self-assured (how many guys do you know who would dance around with nothing on but a Santa hat for all the world to see - definitely opens one up for criticism from one's male peers!)

But I definitely feel for Jake and Maggie's mom and dad when I read some of the things they share! I always wonder what they think about such details of their private lives being shared. It's one thing when you want to share something private about yourself, but what about when it's about a family member? I can't help wondering how that stuff goes over with mom and dad. LOL

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Sheba - I'm definitely going to be checking out those legs ;D I'll remind you of that comment after we've had a few drinks together! And after the fire incident, they all seemed to be commando, except Jake maybe?

Pia I love that - 'Im not saying I dont want to know what I dont want to know' :D Well, I'll try and keep the little details coming...

Anon, you must see Lovely & Amazing, I thoroughly enjoyed it, even the bits without Jake in them. And do choose a name so we know who you are and can call you something other than anon and can chat :D

Hi Ginny! I have to say there are very few men I'd want to see dance around wearing nothing but a santa hat on their willy, but Jake is the big exception :D I suppose Jake and Maggie's parents know what it's like, they know what their kids are like and know that it's all part and parcel of having two extraordinary young adults for their children. Maybe they get extra washing up duties in return for each dubious comment?

LMAO, I'll tell anyone anything after two big glasses of Californian Red (I really am a cheap date and a good catch!). I suspect that when Jake tells a story he substitutes what actually happens to him with what happens to family and friends.

"Hi Ginny! I have to say there are very few men I'd want to see dance around wearing nothing but a santa hat on their willy, but Jake is the big exception :D "

Wow, WDW, did you really mean to say the 'big exception'? Ooh, you are naughty...

Hi Anon, if you haven't watched it yet, all of Jake's scenes are on YouTube.

Oh you are naughty too Pia, but you know you've got to keep that one for her wedding! :DD

No doubt you've come across this interview with Jake before - it proves he has a hard time keeping things in except when it's a total secret like ..you-know-what...

LOL on Jake being the big exception. I agree. ;o)

And yeah it seems Jake and Maggie were raised in a pretty open and sharing environment, so I guess mom and dad are used to their outspoken ways. I can't help thinking about it a bit deviously too though and thinking what a way to get a bit of "revenge" on mom and dad for those times they didn't get their way as kids. LOL

Thanks for the poem Sass. Stephen's writing is so ellusive and open at the same time. I was only thinking last week to try to buy a copy of Claptrap when I have time to read it. So it is true about Stephen's mother - my sincerest condolences to the whole family. Such a tough year for Jake.

I can't wait for Jake to slip into the role of PoP and emerse himself in what should be a fun project. I understand he'll be working with alot of CGI and stunts - this should be the perfect bit of escapism for him.

Just watching Top Gear, they've just raced a caravan against a Vauxhall Turbo and the caravan won. How did it win? They dropped it from a crane at a great height - who would have thought of that?!

So the rumour was true,Grandma Gyllenhaal did pass away recently. My sincere sympathies to Stephen,Jake and all the family. There are times in every life when the bad news just seems to keep on coming and 2008 has been a sad year for Jake thus far, bless his heart :-(

A lovely reminder of happier times was this great "Jarhead" post,WDW. I hadn't read that candid Mirror interview from just post-Baftas 2006, thanks for digging up this little treasure. What exactly did Sam Mendes study at university? - Psychology,I'll wager because his tactics certainly got the best out of Jake,Peter and the rest of the cast of "Jarhead", though they may have found it harsh at the time.

It's one of my favourite Jake-films.Following hard upon the heels of "Brokeback" and Swoff's character being diametrically opposed to Jack Twist,"Jarhead" was a wonderful counterpoint to "BBM" and beautifully illustrated the phenomenal breadth of Jake's acting range. From a shallower standpoint,he is one of the few men I know who could still look gorgeous with a "Jarhead" cut - another being Peter Sarsgaard *Thud* Can't wait for "An Education" either!

Well done to you, TL, for getting Channel 4 to sit up and take notice on the pronunciation front! I'm sure Jake would appreciate your efforts on his behalf!

I have my own version of Jake's philosophy embodied in your title for this post,WDW, i.e. expect everything to be crap and when it is you're not disappointed and if it's not then that's a bonus. I think that's the tired old cynic's take on things ;-)

And Jake, awkward with girls?! Now who would have thought it??!! ;-)

Hey Nadine :D Good to see you.

I was very sorry to hear about Jake losing his grandmother. I'd like to leave it there though, because I feel this is way too private to the Gyllenhaal family to be discussed on the internet - call me old-fashioned :D.

Sam Mendes studied English at Cambridge :D But you're right, it could have been psychology - Sam knew so well how to get the best out of his amazing cast.

Peter really suited the Jarhead cut :P

I consider myself an optimist but I see what you mean about the philosophy :)

I hope everyone had a good day and is ready for the weekend.

Oh my - as lovely as it was to see my full name (Virginia) connected to the last name Gyllenhaal, I am so very sorry to hear of the family's loss.
