Jake Gyllenhaal and Robert Downey Jr's Christmas hike

There's only one thing better than seeing Jake Gyllenhaal treading the trails of rural California, and that's seeing Jake treading the trails of rural California with one Robert Downey Jr! Intent on walking off the turkey, stuffing, roast potatoes, three veg, sausages, Christmas pud, brandy cream, soft-centred chocolates and a bucketful of local red, here are Jake, Robert, Reese and Robert's wife Susan (and never forgetting Attucus) hiking around Ojai on 26 December.

According to a source, on the next day 'the Downeys took Reese and Jake for a spin in his Bentley to get some coffee before heading back and saying their goodbyes.'

'Afterwards, Jake and Reese were spotted visiting a clothing store and a hardware shop - during which time Reese helped Jake shop for socks and then he bought a drill to help with some domestic maintenance at Reese’s Ojai home.'

'On the Sunday, Jake and Reese visited the farmer's market in their 'black bubble jackets'.

Jake, my flat is definitely in need of some domestic maintenance...

Edited to add...

...more pictures of Jake and Reese out and about in Ojai on Sunday 28 December. Big thanks to IHJ for the pics and you can find plenty more there.

My God! Robert Downey JR. is incredibly sexy and talented!
Glad to see that Robert and Jake have become great friends!
Today I read an article about Jake and Robert, and now I see pictures of the two together !:):):)

So good to know that Atticus is well.

My God [2]! That is the shirt of Jack Twist?

  3. Hi Monica! It's great to see Jake and Robert together (and with Atti too :D) I don't think you're the only person to think that about the shirt :)

  4. OMG, Jake and RDJ again!!!!! And so cool that they all spent a lot of time together. They are just freaking awesome. :D

I needed that today. Despite all the holiday fun, I have a bad cold and cough. :(

Thanks for the great pics and story.

    Hugs everyone.

  5. Hi Get Real! I'm so sorry to hear of your cold and cough - I do hope you didn't catch them from me... Jake and RDJ together is a great tonic. I'm glad I saw these before going to bed tonight :) Do look after yourself.

  7. Thanks for the link, Monica :)

    I have a great word but it's rude so I can't tell it :D

  8. OK, I don't think Jake was/is drilling anything himself. Hollywood people have other people to do that. I'm also pretty sure Reese hasn't touched a washing machine in a long, long time. But what do I know?

I'm off, I have a busy day ahead.

    WDW,everyone, have a good day:)

  9. Morning Zodiac! I do't know about the drilling, Jake seems like a DIY kind of guy to me - remember the craftsy table he made for his mum :D (I know some people translate this as meaning it was wobbly!)

Have a good busy day - I have one of those myself. And it's beautiful out there, just so long as you don't stand still.

  10. Looking at those pics, I wonder how cold is it over there now. I'd imagine Jake would be walking around in nothing but Bermuda shorts in LA.... [well, one can dream].. after being in cold, wet England.

OFF to see TCCoBB. Hope Fincher has pulled another classic out of the directorial bag.

Tulition... what a delicious sounding word. Please tell us what your word was WDW, maybe I can use it later ;D

  11. Hi Sheba! I think it's definitely a bit chillier here today, but I love seeing Jake in his big Free City hoodie :D

I hope you enjoy Benjamin Button - I'm off to see it in a couple of weeks.

My word is cychemon - my last word was ungtsy :D Tulition sounds much nicer! Have a good day!

  12. RDJ looks good there - but Jake looks better... lol.

Jake doing DIY???!??? with a drill???? so those lumberjack clothes are not only for fashion!! I find it fascinating that he'll doing such domestic handyman jobs, very sexy. Mmmm..... maybe Jake will now feature in my plumber/handyman romance stories (you know the kind I like that don't feature any female lead... lol)

It seems cold but sunny outside... we might venture out to check out the sale in Carnaby street. Have a few margaritas...

Have a good day, everyone :)

  13. Great pics, WDW!:-)

I am always happy to see Atticus, more so since the mysterious disappearance of Boo. Last night I saw "Marley and me." Marley was a great dog, not at all deserving of the "world's worst dog" title he got saddled with. (His master confessed as much in the last few scenes.)

I hope Jake has been in touch with his parents, who have this difficult divorce to go through.

Earlier in the weekend, I also saw "Bedtime stories" and "Doubt." They were nothing alike. ;-)

  14. It's really good to see Jake and RDJ have remained in contact:)

Seeing them together is making me think of Mark Ruffalo and his family and how they must be feeling this time of year after his poor brother's death. Hopefully they are finding the strength to get through it.

As I have been laid up all through Xmas with flu and only catching up with posts now, I have to say I'm thrilled that U2 are going to be on the Brothers soundtrack. Bono and the boys never fail to disappoint.

    Have a great evening:)

  15. I also thought immediately of Jack Twist when I saw the shirt... :) But I don't think it is really the same shirt - need to take a closer look, but was too lazy because of my freakin' slow internet connection :(

Good to see Jake with RDJ! :)

Somebody posted a link saying, that Jake is going to co-host the Golden Globes! Is that more than presenting one of the awards or does it mean the same? (Maybe this was discussed here before, but I couldn't read everything lately - slow internet connection, see above *rolls eyes*)

    Take care everyone!! :)

  16. Hi there everyone! Had a wonderful leisurely happy afternoon eating and drinking with Anouska and Ruby :D I've had more variations on the Cosmo than one would think possible!

Hi there Winterbird! Good to see you after your Christmas break. Jake with a drill is a very hot concept and one that people can't take from me :P I hope you had a good day down Carnaby Street!

Hey Paul :D I'm glad you liked the pics. It really is good to see Atti with his master again.

Hi Carol! I am so sorry to hear you've had flu. That's terrible. I'm just about over mine now so I know how nasty it is. I hope you feel better now. And it's great news about U2 and Brothers :D

Hey Uli! I know, one minute you heat that Jake is presenting an award and the next minute he's hosting the whole thing! And I don't think he is. A case of Chinese Whispers. I thought that about the shirt too :) I hope you'll be home to the fast internet connection soon.

I hope everyone's having a good evening and keeping warm - cold out there. Thanks to Ruby and Anouska for a wonderful birthday lunch/dinner!

  17. Oh, WDW, is your birthday today?

When should we sing 'Happy birthday' to you?

    Spill.

  18. Hey Zodiac! My birthday's on new Year's Eve (Wednesday) but I'm already in celebratory mode because it's a biggie :D Expect no sense from me til Friday at least!

  19. Good night, Wet dark!
His birthday is on Wednesday? :):):)

I do not think that is the shirt used in the movie, but I liked to see the similarity.

  20. I hope everyone had a good holiday.

Thanks for a fun afternoon, WDW. Can you name all the cocktails we drank? I think the room is spinning ever so slightly, so I know they were good ones.

Good to see pics of RDJ and Jake together. :D

  21. Hi Monica! I hope you're feeling well today. It is good to see Jake wearing a Jack shirt again - it suits him :D

Hey Rubes! Errr, name the cocktails - sounds like a fun game... I know that you had all the ones with rude names. I had things like Lemon meringue, and Sherbet, and some bellinis, and some cosmos, and some pineapple drink with a lot of lipcurling sour stuff in it. That's one hollow leg filled, I'm ready to start on the other.

Thank you so much for such a lovely time!! And Jake was there in spirit(s) too :D Glad you got home safe :) xx

  24. I think the deal with the shirts from "Brokeback Mountain" was that the shirts were auctioned for charity. However, *anyone* can buy the same kind of shirts from the supplier that provided them for the movie. The only thing that Jake may have kept from the movie was the boots.

Jake and Robert seemed to really hit it off during the filming of "Zodiac." To be honest, I'm not happy that "Benjamin Buttons" is getting much better treatmemnt than "Zodiac" ever did. Not that I have anything against it (I haven't seen it), but that I think the studio sabotaged "Zodiac" in some way. Still, Fincher is going to get his Oscar someday. It's just a matter of time.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Morning Paul! I do agree with you about Zodiac - neither the film nor Fincher were ever going to win an award and that's a crying shame and it's an incredible film. I haven't seen Benjamin Button yet either but I am really hoping that David wins the Oscar he deserves.

Beautiful cold, crispy today out there. Have a good day, everyone!
