Jake Gyllenhaal and Chest (with shorts and bat) in MV 7 August

Although these fabulous pictures of Jake Gyllenhaal and Chest enjoying themselves on Martha's Vineyard date to 7 August, I like to think of them as Jake's welcome to me as I arrive in the State that can't be Spelled. If that recent chest poll had shown these, Robert and the others would have left the building. Looking good, Jake! I love a man with flowery shorts and a bat. Many thanks to IHJ for the pictures!

Good to be in Boston!

LMAO - because it's not a bat, it's a paddle!! I'm laughing so hard at "bat" and at the thought of the so many words we are going to correct each other on this week. Let's start a list...LOL!

  4. These pics are beautiful, and not only because of Jake, that surf looks good enough to jump into!

BBMISwear, it should be fun comparing New England-isms and British-isms. :)

    Welcome to Massachusetts, WDW! :)

  5. OMG!!!!!!!! THUD!!!!!!!!!!! Jake is looking SEXY!!!

Yay, so glad you on our shores, WDW!! Boston, such a brilliant city....go to Newbury Street, the North End, Faneuil Hall, if you can...but most of all a big welcome!

And you are going to have great weather this week. And the Obama's are already on MV. :D

Hey BBMISwear, have fun with WDW. :)

  6. Yes welcome welcome to good old Boston, "the land of the bean and the cod/where the Lowells talk only to Cabots/and the Cabots talk only to God."

Its really not snooty, anymore, that's very old rhyme.

The weather's looking up, Hurricane Bill has gone by and I hope you guys have a wonderful trip! Keep tweeting!

    love

  7. Hey!!! I'm back again after a night out at Boston's harbour and the market. Because I can't drink tea here for obvious historic reasons I went for the Boston lager instead :)

Yay and squuueee back at BBMISwear! Looking forward to seeing you in the morning for our adventure.

I have only one thing to say.. that's a BAT! It's not a paddle, it's a bat! How can that be a paddle? How far will it get you? The delights of language - I love it!!!!

Hey 1:44 - Jake3 looks GORGEOUS! You can probably hear my heart thumping from there :D

Thanks 1:50! MV looks wonderful and I can't wait to see it for myself. And now I will! What a beautiful place.

Hey Get Real! It's great being in your time zone. I've been round the harbour and the market area. I'm back in Boston for a long weekend next weekend so there's lots to see. It's going to be fun with the Obamas about!

And I've found the Weather Channel!

While I'm away I'm using my netbook and so apologies for the typing. The keys are too close together and the r doesn't work...

  8. Hi Pia! Posting at the same time! I love the little of Boston I've seen so far. The weather's looking great!

  9. it's nice to see his chest again. We'll have to wait 9 months to see it on the big screen.

Welcome to MASSACHUSETTS WDW :D I've been to Boston and Cape Cod (and Martha's vineyard. Though I wasn't in Chilmark. I wonder where Jake has his house. and I wonder where Chris is. He is from MV and his family's farm is there.

  10. WDW I thought the whole 'TEA' incident was all water under the bridge :P so you won't be drinking tea in Boston huh? Well will you at least enjoy a Boston cream donut in BOSTON (I love those donuts and I had one while waiting for a bus to take me up to New Hampshire)

it's a PADDLE, not a bat. you go to any baseball game now THAT's a bat.

I hope you're having fun. Will you be sticking around in Boston or taking a trip down to the cape?

  11. MV is superb, but don't limit yourself only to MV. The entire Cape is gorgeous.
Glad you had a safe trip.

  12. If you hit a ball with it, it's a bat. If you row a boat with it it's a paddle. :D I don't see a boat in that picture. Mind you, I can't see a ball either, so call it whatever you want! :)

It's gonna get loud in Boston when BBBMISwear and WDW get together. Have a great day guys.

  13. And He's smiling at us too.

  14. Good morning everyone! I'm in that place 'where jetlag lies' according to Jake but doing fine :)

Hi Sweetpea :D 9 months is a long wait so we'll need Jake to spend more time on the beach in the meantime. He's looking great. Thanks for the welcome!

Thanks Anon! We're looking forward to exploring much of the coast - not to mention a few places I've read about in Stephen King novels :D

Thanks Rubes! And I totally agree - you don't play table tennis with a paddle and you wouldn't row a boat with a bat! Ahhh, language - always gets us in to trouble - almost as bad as tea!

He certainly is, Gail - he looks wonderful :D

    Have a good day everybody!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yes he is Gail with that knowing smile. I think we should send the picture to the magazine poll with the caption "ARE YOU CRAZY???! Number *bleep* 7 ???!"

Have a wonderful break in MV and Mass. WDW, even though your not on our side of the pond you're still looking after us.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Those are great new pictures! See, that's the kind of picture they should have put in the stupid poll.

LOL at the bat!!! When I started reading the post I had only the first pic on my monitor. For a moment I thought you meant "bat" in a not PG way! :DDD Unfortunately, there's no sign of that kind of bat either in the pic. :D And I'm sorry but it's a paddle, a bat is long and in the form of a cylinder and a paddle is flat. :)

Glad you arrived safe. I'm really jealous of you and BBMIswear right now. I hope you have loads of fun and tell us about it. :)

  17. LOL! I hadn't seen Sheba's post before I wrote mine. She said it so much better than me about that poll! :DD

  18. LOL, loving the convo. In the states that is called a paddle. Like with ping pong. :p

WDW, do explore the Cape too if you and BBISwear can! It is truly wonderful. Spent many lovely times there.

Have a great day everyone and don't get into too much trouble, WDW and BBMISwear. ;p

  19. Actually, we in America say ping pong (not table tennis), and paddle is easy to say, as in ping pong paddle. If you don't want to row your boat with a paddle, then you can use an oar instead. ;-)

I like those pics of Jake on the beach. This is the prime of his life, and I hope he's enjoying it to the max, because the long slow decline will start before very long. :-( Hollywood has some people who are very skillful at delaying the decline, so we can at least hope....

I saw "Ponyo" the other day. Some very talented people dubbed the voices in English. One of them was Matt Damon, who was in "Brothers Grimm" with Heath Ledger, who was in "Brokeback Mountain" with Jake. Jake himself probably wasn't in "Ponyo," but since I wasn't able to see any of the people behind the animation, I can't be sure. ;-)

  20. It's an emotional time - just had my first American Starbucks Venti skinny latti with extra shot. Strangely tastes just like the one in Oxford...

Good to see you Sheba! Quite right about the poll - these useless people. Look how hot and sexy Jake looks here - WoW! Thanks :D BBMISwear is going to make sure I blog alot.

OMG Olympia you gave me a good laugh there - Jake all Twilighty with a bat! One of the things I really love about doing WDW is how we have so much fun over the differences in our language! My Britspeak always gets me into trouble - that's why I like using it!

Paddle.... come on Bits, is that a paddle?

Hi Get Real! Great being on that Eastern time zone :D OMG - pingpong... don't get me started on that one... :DD I'd love to see the Cape, I really would. Have to see what we can fit in as we have a date with a lovely Brokie next Saturday - no prizes for guessing who that is!

Waiting for BBMISwear right now :)

  21. Hey Paul! P)osting at the same time :D I can see I'm outnumbered on Paddlegate :D I was hoping someone wouldn't mention oars...! Jake looks so good. Unforrtunately, I'm learning about the decline - sob... I never get dubbing, since seeing Jurassic Pak dubbed into German - what was the point?

    ReplyDelete
  22. This blog is written by a Brit, so we get the final word on the language used, no? ;-)

An oar is what you call a paddle when you use it horizontally. :D One does not steer a canoe with an oar! Or a bat. :D

    ReplyDelete
  23. Of course it's entirely possible that I have no idea what I'm talking about. I have never steered a canoe with anything. :D

    ReplyDelete
  24. And what's that saying? "Up a creek without a paddle". But sorry WDW, I agree. That's a paddle (my 9 year old says it is so it must be true) but I'm liking this 'you say tomato' situation. And to be honest I hardly noticed the paddle if you know what I mean ;D

  25. WOW ... great photos!!
And lol about the discussion. As a non-native speaker just one question though: would nobody call it a racket?? It is to play beach tennis after all, no?

WDW, have lots of fun in MA and with Lisa!! I'll be there in a month, Boston, MV and all around around New England. Hope to see some foliage but certainly wouldn't mind to see some Jake, too. ;)

  26. Hello! OMG having a wonderful time by the seaside! Up in Gloucester - pics later - sorry!

Rubes :D I'm not a canoer either but I've never steered one with a bat! BBMISwear has her own well-considered opinion on Batgate and will post accordingly.

    Hi Aquaalta and Sheba!!

It's so beautiful round here and the beer's not bad either...

BBMISwear here posting via WDW: First of all...when the man is in America whatever he is holding in his hand should be referred to by the term used in the United States (but nice try Rubes)! Second...Gloucester is beautiful but the signage is horrible.

Off to find some benches! :-)

  27. OMG what great pics:) Jake looks gorgeous here.

Hope WDW and BBMISwear are having a ball in Boston and MV. Wish I was there too. The weather here is so miserable it feels like October already:(

    ReplyDelete
  28. WDW! I can't believe you made it to Gloucester! Can't wait to see the pics. Was that one of the places Moonlight Mile was filmed? I think so. I have to go there this weekend. :)

My word is "pudin", can't help but think of The Joker. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hi Carol! I do hope the weather brightens up for you :( We're having a lovely time, thanks!

Hey Anon! Yep, spent much of the day driving around a town with no signs.. I've learned a new word - roundabouts here are called rotaries. MM was filmed mainly in Gloucester and Marblehead, where we're heading tomorrow. We (well, BBMISwear!) found quite a few locations. You must go! We went to Rocky Neck for lunch - just beautiful.

    Doing a post now :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. That's so nice, glad you enjoyed. I'm visiting family this weekend. Gloucester's the best in summer, I like winter too tho. :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thanks Anon :D I've just done a post with some pics. I love being by the sea whatever the season. You're so lucky having this beautiful place so close. I'll definitely be back :D

  32. Hi, how nice to come home to nice pics of Jake! He looks sweet there! Don't ask me, why I think "sweet" is the perfect word, but it somehow is... :D :D
Unfortunately he missed out on a great opportunity to give the world another classic beach shorts pic... :D :D :D

His hair has me wondering again... It's so long... For Love And Other Drugs?? For PoP part 2? Or just because he didn't feel like getting a haircut??

Heading off to the great Moonlight Mile trip post now!! :)
