On Saturday, Jake Gyllenhaal was photographed walking into Katz Deli for the Famous GQ Bring Times Square To A Halt Shoot.
But while Jake is here wearing an undoubtedly very expensive parker - perfectly suited for the winter NYC conditions - it was soon shed for a leather jacket. 2009 may have been the Year of the Hat, but 2010 is turning into the Year of the Leather Jacket (although a friend did email me today asking if I thought Jake was wearing PVC - as if...). Studs are optional.
I'm wondering if the leather may be nostalgia for a) saucy scenes from Love and Other Drugs or b) Jake's Prince of Persia days, brought to mind by modelling for an array of leather clad figurines. There are now new photographs of these figures which I think I may have ordered.
And finally...
Source Code began principle photography today. Director Duncan Jones tweeted at lunch time that things were going well, followed by the comment that if he gets the music for the film that he wishes, it will be the Dog's Proverbials. I have a feeling that the whole movie will be the proverbials.
Includes pictures from IHJ and links.
I love Jake in leather! Thank-god he's ditched the hat! His hair's one of his best features - long or short :)
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait for the GQ shoot as..
1.I know GQ always takes hot pictures of Jake, he's done four sessions with them already, all great!
2. The last 'proper' photo-shoot Jake had was back in October 2008 for Telerama Magazine – Cannes (correct me if I’m wrong)
And 3. Well, Times Square looks like a great setting for a leather clad Jake! :D
Silver
Hi Silver! Yeah, give me the Leather over the Hat any time - and I'm a vegetarian :D I think it's true to say this shoot will be HOT and fun - perfect :)
ReplyDeleteI think the last 'proper' shoot and magazine spread was Interview for Rendition. I think the Telerama one was earlier. But I could well be wrong :D
hey, the fur parka reminds of me those pics where Jake was riding a, erm, mini bike :)
ReplyDeleteLooking good :)
I can't decide if the jacket is PVC, maybe just the flashlight, maybe it's just a filmsy soft leather jacket. Well, if anyone can wear PVC on GQ and look hot, it will be Jake.
Oh the bike pics! Wonderful :) Hi Winterbird! Agreed - if anyone can look good in PVC (or rubber) that's our Jake :D
ReplyDeleteI wonder what Jake ordered at Katz' that is a ways away from Times SQuare (btw) Katz is on the lower East side of Manhattan and Times Square is in midtown. (fyi)
ReplyDeleteyou made me hungry for a sandwich and Jake :D I'll take both. It's so interesting how we can find out what is going on on a movie set from the director (thanks to tweet)
Thanks WDW
sweetpea
Hi Sweetpea :D Jake was in Katz Deli for part of the shoot, not to eat. It looks like that's where they started off before heading to Times Square and then Spin.
ReplyDeleteIt's great having a director that tweets :)
Great post WDW! You covered a variety of topics which is showing the type of year 2010 is shaping up to be - loving it already!
ReplyDeleteI love those side view photos of Jake...wondering if there are more (???) LOL at 'Famous GQ Bring Times Square To A Halt Shoot' - good name - shall you email it to them and see if they can officially name it that?! Great leather jacket recap too. Lookin' Good! :-)
Can't wait for all the toys to be on the shelves come May! *mental note to build those shelves I've been talking about for months*
Ahhh, Source Code - let the games begin! Hey...we may get more Merkin talk tomorrow night! Anne is going to be on Jimmy Kimmel live Tuesday 3/2! Remember when Jimmy asked Jake for a little too much detail about Anne and Jake said he'd have to ask her himself? Well, now is Jimmy's chance. Oh I hope she tells us more, more, more!! I'm also wondering if we will see any clips of young Jake and/or Maggie on the broadcast of Before They Were Famous tomorrow night - it's and Oscar themed edition so I'm thinking more likely Maggie. DVR Set!!
Have a good night all... :-)
Hello,
ReplyDeleteLovely pics! (as usual). Looks better than Avon did in leather - or PVC - and we know that's sayin something *-\
Hey WDW, I didn't mean I wasn't looking forward to the Olympics, I am indeedy, I'm just dreading the awful, moaning British press coverage :( [and, actually, the traffic in London].
Have you seen the 2nd trailer? Why does Hollywood seem to have lost the art of trailer making? These are good but IMHO not really as great as those dramatic ones of the early to mid-1990's . Do you remember Mel Gibson's Hamlet trailer? The Last Airbender looks good though.
Apologies if too OT.
Hello! OMG so busy today it's ridiculous but just put the new trailer up - I love it!!! The accent - swoon...
ReplyDeleteBBMISwear :-) That's great about Anne. I wonder what she'll say.
Hi TD! Ooh the lovely Avon :)
The olympics is definitely gonna challenge the transport system in London - but I hope the press get behind it. I'm expecting something spectacular. I've not had chance to have a good look at the trailer yet but I do like what I see - too much voice over for me though...
But the great news is it shows that PoP opens in the UK on 21 May which means staggered premieres!!
Last night I dreamed that I was on a film set, and I saw Maggie filming a scene. She was gorgeous in a light apricot billowy blouse. There was some plot about her being from a broken family, with six brothers and sisters and a parent who has an affair and moves on to a new spouse and more children. All the children are walking around a Maypole, but Maggie's character breaks away from them and wanders off.
ReplyDeleteI keep getting confused when WDW mentions "little Jakes." I keep wondering, "who will be the mother of the little Jakes?"
