[Update] Is Jake Gyllenhaal Big Foot? Grizzly Jake heads for the woods

Update: Reports are flooding in that Jake Gyllenhaal may indeed prove to be the missing link - more details here and see below.

Jake 'You can call me Grizzly' Gyllenhaal left the city this weekend, heading for a friend's cabin outside Los Angeles (28 August). Aguably, this time of woody environment is more conducive to intensive beard growth. Fortunately, Jake seems to have come out of his bear wrestling relatively unscathed - although the same cannot be said for his trousers... and shoes.

In the picture below, Jake demonstrates another new disguise he's picked up in the woods - the tree pose. Please note how I'm not mentioning the tongue.

Many thanks to IHJ for the pictures - there are lots more there! Good to see you again, Jake!

  2. "The tree pose" *rofl* That totally made my day.

But when it comes to the Beard Business... oh my word. BR, I hope you're happy now. ;-) Come on Jake, SHAVE! It was funny for a bit but I want to see that perfectly shaped jaw line again, please.

  3. LOL!

LadyEkster, I am MORE than happy. He looks hot like this! Definitely digging the beard.

This post has absolutely made my week...and it's only Monday! I may have actually squealed.

  4. I hate to admit this but in some of the pics that beard is looking awfully sexy. Its the coloring of the beard, its very alluring. They have cabins in LA? I feel bad for him in the pic where he's coming out of the door. There's no telling whats behind that door. I'm glad I left early before the paps came.

  5. I've just noticed why that second pic looks so familiar. He looks like Bigfoot. AHHAH.

See (scroll down and look at how he's walking): http://www.bigfoothunting.com/

    Jake, almost had me fooled!

  6. BR, I thought the same thing when I saw the second photo! BIGFOOT!!! ahahah! I love the beard.

  7. Even though there are other cars in the pics, I still find the photos disgusting and invasion of privacy. It looks like it's on private property, and yes they have cabins in L.A. outside of L.A.

Most likely it's a getaway place for the weekend.

Why don't the scuzzie paps leave Jake and other celebs alone

  8. Hmmm... I should thank him for the beard. Considering the clothes, the sunglasses and the hair, I'd be a squeeing mess right now if I could see his face as well. It's Monday. I think squeeing is more appropriate for, say, midweek. ;-)

Yet new pics are a perfect way to start the week. I feel renewed! Now I'll go check the vids from your previous posts. My internet connection seems to be working fairly decently today too. Ahhh, all is good. :-)

Hope everybody is having a nice Monday! xo

  9. Hello! Updated the post with the crucial discoveries of BR!

Hi Lady Ekster! That beard is quite a beard and must have an ulterior purpose...

Hey BR! The beard is definitely growing and I love that loink. I knew the pose was familiar and now I know why!

Jake Fan, I have to agree with you - there is something about that beard :) I don't know for how much longer I can fight it... Lovely cabin, by the way.

BR, that's so funny! I knew that picture looked familiar. I'vw updated the post!

    Agreed, Tiffany!

Anon - the cabin could be anywhere, possibly to the north of LA in that gorgeous Big Sur area Jake loves. All he's doing is going from a door to a car - the vast majority of the time Jake evades the paps, as this summer and plenty more have shown. Here we have a couple of minutes worth and he's not indoors. If you find the pictures disgusting, I'd suggest you don't look at them.

That's an interesting point, Alejandra! Is squeeing leass of a Monday activity? I hope you're able to check out the videos.

Hope you're all having a good day! I've had a lovely weekend and now oputting my feet up :D

  10. WDW - I can't believe you updated the post with that! HAHAHHAAH. I am laughing so hard.

Aw, he's so cute like that. HAHAHAH.

    *breathes*

  11. It's hysterical, BR!!! I kknew I'd seen the pose before and I couldn't place it until I saw your post. Jake is without doubt the Missing LInk!

  12. Bwahahahaaa! Bigfoot Gyllenhaal! Gosh that's priceless. Great find BR, and thanks WDW for the update.

It does bring me to a rather worrying connection between a couple of things though. Could that beard and that pose be a sign of Jake preparing to take the lead in a movie about Bigfoot? And that all that buffed up showing off in Leadville had to do with researching the art of running long distances on foot because Bigfoot obviously doesn't wear Nikes? Oh dear Lord... *grin*

  13. LMFAO oh Jake you really do look like big foot.

When I see these pics all I think is "mountain man living in his cabin lol."

Jake if you don't shave that animal off your face soon I will personally fly there and do it for you!! ;0)

    ReplyDelete
  14. Just realized he looks like Joaquin Phoenix here lol.

    ReplyDelete
  15. OMG Lady Ekster - that's a horrifying thought - Jake Gyllenhaal to be Sasquatch or Yeti.... Or maybe he's to be in the new reboot of Planet of the Apes? All deeply disturbing and extraordinarily hairy.

Hey Abby! Mountain Man indeed - we may have to organise a shaving...

    ReplyDelete
  16. Oh flip - the Joaquin Phoenix resembland had passed my mind but I'm blocking it out nicely :D

    ReplyDelete
  17. I could totally see him in a movie about Bigfoot. Remember Harry and the Hendersons? LOL. I bet he could completely capture the full emotional range of the sasquatch.

Sorry Jake...you know I like you really! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  18. That was such a fun movie, BR :D Jake could add nuance to the Sasquatch.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Jake Gyllenhaal seems like a Neantherthal! It will be the next film?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Now how can anyone say this man doesn't look incredible? :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. LOL!! What a post!!!

Beard? What beard? All I see is tongue
    :P

    ReplyDelete
  22. I love it - the only sign of civilization is the outline of his iPhone in his trousers pocket - or is he just glad to see us? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hi 19:12! That could be a possibility :D

    Waves to 19:30 :)

Hey Lena - I know, I'm doing my best not to mention the tongue :P

Love the back to nature, 19:37 :)

  24. I wish he'd get rid of that beard. I wonder how they found him in the woods? (maybe his agent told them where he was?)

I like he is giving his feet some fresh air. I wouldn't mind giving him a foot massage, body massage and a free shave :D (wink)

    glad to see he's relaxing

  25. maybe his next project should be "the hunt for Bigfoot" who knew he is hanging out in some cabins in LA :D

  26. I'm not big fun of his beard. But I respect his "beard hiding" idea, probably he also doesn't want to be beautiful all the time. :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. "probably he also doesn't want to be beautiful all the time"

Major fail Jake, you can't hide the beautifulness that is Jake Gyllenhaal.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Waves to Sweetpea :)

Hi Mermon! The perfect disguise and a very good talking point.

    Very true, Jake Fan :)

  29. Hello WDW and everyone.

    LOL at Bigfoot!

Good to see new pics of Jake. Those trousers of Jake's have generous holes in the knee, and are not a regular going-out outfit (I think). Like a "wear about the house" kind of item of clothing. I wonder if he is on his way to do some manual labour of some kind, he has said he likes growing a vegetable garden and doing carpentry, like making a table. Who knows?

Laughing at all the discussion about the beard.

    Cheers

    Tui

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hi Tui! Those trousers have definitely seen better dats but they do contribute to Jake's Wild Man look! They would also be very handy for table construction.

  31. Don't you think that Jake exposes his tongue toward paparazzi?
No, probably not. I have noticed, that he's doing it quite often. Even in BBM, when he came to Ennis after divorce, next to the car, he was playing with his tongue.
    He does it nicely.:)

    ReplyDelete
  32. No, Mermon - Jake does that all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hi WDW and y'all,

Aarch... I couldn't help but instantly feel a bit upset and worried when I first saw these photos. Not only because they again show the relentless hounding of the paps (sending me on another guilt trip for gawking at them), but also, they again show a Jake who seems more than a bit down lately.
I just hope he's not having too many "I'm feeling ugly, avoid me!" or "I'm alone and depressed" type moments. And if he is, I sure hope those near and dear to him recognize the signals of a friend in need and give him some TLC.
No, of course I don't know him personally, and yes, to the untrained eye my observations will seem ridiculously presumptuous.
I don't mind a rebuke, I just had to put it out there. Less of the selfish, dopamine inducing idolatry. More, "I care...".
I just hope he's feeling alright, because he's had to deal with some serious, painful experiences in recent years, and he's turning 30 (30 blues anyone?). More than enough baggage to make anyone feel down or depressed when they suddenly find themselves with ample time to reflect.

sorry if I'm being a downer,
    lemniscate

  34. Morning all! Back at work - in the fog.... Actually it's looking lovely now :)

Hi there Lemniscate! That's what we're here for - so you can vent these feelings. We don't always have to agree, it's just good to be able to express it.

Personally, I don't think a few pictures in such circumstances can reveal anything. Also Jake's spent pretty much the entire summer away from the paps, on holiday, with friends, family etc - with sightings of him doing the usual things - concerts, movies, dinner. And so I just think he's been enjoying some privacy.

One thing I am sure of, Jake has great friends and family. He's very lucky and so are they. I hope Jake embraces the idea of being 30 - those are great days - I was so glad to leave my 20s and enter my 30s. 30 is such an empowering age.

Jake's a thinker and so he's bound to feel down some of the time just like the rest of us. This is giving me thoughts of the PoP premiere and my moment! We should form an orderly hugging line.

Have a great day everyone - including Jake :D

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hi everybody!
WDW and Lemniscate. I must agree with both of you. My first thought when I saw those pictures was - "Poor Jake, he can't hide anywhere". And I felt a bit guilty, waiting for all those pictures. But then I remembered myself waiting so long for any news about Jake and it was nothing for a long time. So I think he's good in hiding, has great vacation with his family and friends. Maybe he feels lonely, but it's ok, if it doesn't last too long. Probably some of us are lonely now. :)It makes us deeper. :)
I think, when LAOD promotion will start Jake will go out of his cave, smiling like always.
    Have a good afternoon!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Anyone think if they were walking along a street or anywhere and pictures of them appeared in a magazine, internet, etc. that they would be pictures of them smiling and looking happy. Think of when you are walking and how you pretty much would have a kind no expression at all.
Now with celebrities if a paps. is anywhere near (and not have a telephoto lense) they may be saying something and the person may turn to hear what they are saying or try to not hear what they are saying.
His summers when he has not been working have been similiar to the one this summer. He spends it with family and friends when not in a relationship.
Jake hasn't seemed like someone who when a relationship is over he is out with someone two weeks later. He takes his time and spends it with family and close friends and seems to enjoy that.
As said he is very lucky to have a family he can be with and friends he has had since school and then others he has met when making movies. He knows a lot of people.
He also, if not quite getting ready to start a movie, has things in the works that would be keeping him busy.
He keeps growing as an actor and a person and that's what he wants.

  37. Hi all, the beard is growing on me, I'd certainly like to do the softness test on it and give it a stroke, for those of us in the uk our favourite marine is on itv 4 @ 1035 tonight - Santa dance anyone?

  38. It's seems that you in UK have Jake Gyllenhaal's saga. Few days ago it was Good Girl, and tonight, as I understood is Jarhead? Lucky you.

  39. Hi everyone! Sorry for absence - I always lose the internet when I'm in the big smoke! On the way home after Moon and Duncan Jones Q&A. Fab bloke. Very cool autograph. A full report tonight or tomorrow. Lots of pics and video!

  40. Hi WDW, Mermom and ya'll,

Thanks for replying to my "vent" ;-)

You're right. He is a thinker and feeling down is something everyone gets a taste of every now and then.
He seems smart enough not to let it get out of hand.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Maybe hes up to a Jeremiah Johnson remake!
I think he could play that one really well. He lived in a cabin as well...
