Jake Gyllenhaal confirms his next project is David Ayer's cop drama End of Watch

While talking about Source Code - or more precisely, how proud he is of 'ballsy' Anne Hathaway for co-hosting the Oscars - Jake Gyllenhaal confirmed to Access Hollywood that his next film is indeed David Ayer's End of Watch. Just last week, Jake said that he was excited about what was next but he was unable to talk about it. Clearly, that embargo is now lifted and we can now get down to looking ahead to The Next Project. It sounds like filming is about to begin and so we can hope that, after all, there will be a Jake film on our screens in 2012.

Not much is known about End of Watch, except that (according to IMDb) it's a 'drama centered on the long-term friendship and partnership between two cops' in LA. Director and writer David Ayer is known for his gritty LA Cop dramas. One hopes that, if Jake has signed on, there must be something a little different about this one. And, on a more serious point, are we talking plain clothes or uniform here?

  1. Uniform! Uniform! UNIFORM! After seing Jake (almost) entirely naked, the most sexy thing now would be Jake in a uniform.

Let's not be too early and already, today, request the demanded Shower Scene. David Ayer, we've got our eye on you! :-P

And, of course, big congratulations to Jake for a new project! :)

  2. Ahh! Uniform :D That would be.... exciting! The pilot uniform on Jake in SC is delicious, the cop one could be good.

Yep, shower scene is obligitory, ok Mr Ayer? And such good news that there's something new on the way!

  3. I can not get excited about a project that will be directed by David Ayer.

Jake looks tired in that interview.

  4. Wow! How many new interviews in two posts! I like it.Jake looks great, I like his body language too.
New movie sounds interesting and a possibility of seeing Jake in police uniform - fantastic. I can easily imagine him. And he seems to be excited about new script, so it's a chance it won't be a regular police movie. It seems much more. We have something new to wait for :).

  5. Well, I saw Training Day and, despite the fact everybody said Denzel Washington was amazing on it, in my opinion he over acted a lot and the movie was nothing special to me ... BUT I must say I get easily excited with any project involving Jake-I guess I'm very enthusiastic- so even if it's directed by David Ayer I will give it a try! :)

    Thanks for today's updates, Kate!

  6. Excellent news that new project confirmed. I'm definitely in favour of a uniform:)

Just heard from a friend that we may not have SC in Ireland on April 1:( Could be April 22. Does anyone else know anything about Irish release date. I can't stand the waiting.

  7. So it's End of Watch next, is it? Something different for Jake and surely the script is something spectacular if he's excited about it. Does David Ayer write more about cops in uniform or in plain clothes? My bet would be plain clothes because that seems to be the norm for gritty/buddy/partner/LA cop dramas. I guess I'll have to break down and watch Training Day now. :)

It will be very interesting to see what kind of character Jake will portray in this one. A good guy or a corrupt, dark, cop-gone-bad kind of guy?

I think this is probably a better choice right now than the Bourne-without-Damon thing. Regardless, I'm ecstatic that we know what the next project will be!

  10. Hello! I have very limited Internet so forgive short comment.

I hope you get a date for Ireland soon, Carol. Not good at all, these delays and waits.

I'm not sure imdb knows much more than us at the minute about this film.

Personally, I could have gone through life quite happily without seeing an Ayer movie. I've managed well so far. But it is good to get news. A different type of movie again :)

  11. Jake denied being a part of the Bourne-without-Damon project in fine and cute interview. The bathroom plot is also slightly discussed without Jake's excitement.

Oh how I'd LOVE for Jake to play a real bad guy this time. I'd like to see him flex those acting muscles. ;-)

I don't know much about Mr Ayer either, except that he wrote the screenplay for Fast and the Furious 1, which counts as a great, fun movie in my book. :)

  14. OK Honestly, I am not a huge fan of Ayer, but I know if Jake signed on then it must be a good script. I trust his judgment. He hasn't made a bad film yet (imo).
So, we'll see what happens! I am glad Jake has a new project! Yes, he does look tired in that interview to me too.

  15. Now I want to know who will play the other guy! I'm up for some male bonding, I must say. So it's a yes from me. :-)

  16. Morning everyone!

Hello Lady Ekster! I'm not seen Fast and the Furious - well, I've not seen any of these. I'm glad you like it. That makes me a feel more optimistic. I definitely fancy seeing Jake as a baddie. He'd interpret it well I think, bringing something new to it - just like Heath transformed the idea of the Joker.

Fingers crossed, Margot! After Source Code, I'm expecting great things from Jake for his next project. Nothing like a bit of pressure...

I really want to know that too, Alejandra!

    Have a good day :D

  17. Well, Denzel Washington won the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in Training Day back in 2001. Hopefully Ayer's End of Watch will be even better material for Jake to work with. I just hope Ayer's directing abilities are up to the task.

  18. Hi!
I keep reading Duncan blog. He has unpleasant flue. On Sunday he has done 70 (seventy) interviews! But he said he likes it. Can you imagine?
And we are surprise Jake seems to be tired. If he has a half of it per day it would be enough to make him tired. With similar questions and answers. But they both really enjoy the movie and they seem to answers quite gladly. I wonder if Jake has any interview with Michele. So far we see him with Duncan or alone. The only one with Michele, we didn't see yet was unscripted Moviefone. I wonder when they'll show it to us.

Thanks for the great news WDW!!!

  20. I'd love to see Jake in uniform. (he was in uniform in Jarhead)

Does anyone know what else David Ayers has done? I couldn't find out anything at IMDB.
