Jake Gyllenhaal has been busy. Over the last couple of days he's been seen out and about in Brooklyn and in Yale. First, there's Brooklyn and Saturday night. Jake was seen (possibly with Mila Kunis - spectacular of Black Swan fame) at Henry Public. Looking at the website it amazes me that there are mouths ginormous enough that they can wrap around a mega burger of that size. Obviously, I am a veggie and my burger experience is limited.*
Yesterday, Jake with Peter Sarsgaard and Ramona attended Tom Hanks' opening address at Yale University's Class Day (New Haven, Connecticut). You can see the video of the address here. There are a couple of photos of Jake and Peter in the crowd, thanks to @likeburney and @tomlynam
2001
July's edition of Empire has arrived and within it are memories from 2001, including the early years of the careers of Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger. 2001 was, of course, the year when Donnie Darko was made. Click and the articles shall be embiggened.
*Jake, when you next visit Oxford, please let us take you to the famous Atomic Burger. There's only one thing better than their burgers and that's their margaritas.
Many thanks to BBMISwear for helping me with this post when I'm up to my eyeballs in X-men: First Class. The press conference was today.
My review of X-Men: First Class is now published at Blogomatic3000.
Hi WDW! Great post (as always) but this time I'll have to embiggen the articles and read them later. I didn't have time to read them right now because I was exploring the Atomic Burger in Oxford - WOW! It sounds like an amazing theme restaurant, the creativity of the names for all the menu items is reason enough to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteAs a matter of fact I'll be in Oxford this Saturday. Uh, that's Oxford, Alabama... Probably no Atomic Burger there...
Ahh my eyes lit up for a moment there, Susan, thinking you meant this Oxford! Atomic Burger is a fantastic place, its walls decorated with objects and pictures from a lifetime of geek tv and culture - just amazing. And everything comes as veggie too. And the maragaritas?! Fantastic. It's one of the best places to eat in Oxford and it's so good you won't have to eat again for a fortnight.
ReplyDeleteThanks, WDW for the mag articles. I am printing them out to read a bit later.
ReplyDeleteDo you think Jake and Peter/Ramona were there for Tom Hanks?
sweetpea
I too am on the fly and cannot read the articles yet but thank you so much for posting them! It's so great to see an old Jake piece AND an old Heath piece as well. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome re: helping - anything I can do after all you do for all of us every single day!
Keep enjoying your X-men adventure and be sure to get some rest after all this - yikes!!
:-)
Hi WDW!
ReplyDeleteFor once I am able to read some of the articles. I'm overwhelmed and happy because I don't remember ever reading these articles. I am thrilled! TY:)
sass
Morning all! Back at the day job and it stops raining - typical :D
ReplyDeleteHi Sweetpea - that wouldn't surprise me :)
Thanks BBMISwear :-) I intend to sleep and blurgh the entire holiday weekend next weekend!
Morning Sass! I'm glad you like them. They're new articles. It's so good that the Empire has devoted so many pages to Jake and Heath!
Have a good day everyone!
Thanks so much for the articles, reading about both actors and their movies was great. What a classic Donnie Darko was.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Tui
My pleasure, Tui! I'm so glad you liked the articles.
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteSo far, I had a time to read an article about my favourite Donnie Darko and Richard Kelly. Thank you Kate for that. Heath's one has to wait for another time.
What an interesting story. At last we may find out where the idea for the story came to Richard from. And how he noticed Donnie in Jake straight away. How difficult was for that movie to get to the viewers. I liked that part about Richard's discovery of night's Friday screenings. I can imagine, how pleased he was. Worth to read.
Ramona is quite big girl already.
I've got some problem with posting with Blogger.
Ahh, blogger just ate my comment.
ReplyDeleteNice post, WDW, just catching up. I had a great weekend in Dresden, the festival reminded me of the RR tour with Mumford and Sons, I am sure Jake would have enjoyed it. But I guess Tom Hanks, Peter and Ramona beat good old Germany anytime.
Hello everyone! I'm delighted to say that tonight is the last night when I'm X-Menning. It's full on tonight, getting everything ready for the embargo. So back to normal tomorrow. I will be very glad to spend the evening here :) Thanks for all the encouragement!
ReplyDeleteHi Mermon and Mrs JG! I know Blogger's been playing up again today - thanks for taking the time to persevere and post :)
Mila Kunis was at the SNL after-party with Justin Timberlake (and others) Saturday the 21st. So, she'd have to be in two places at once to be with Jake too. Most likely was one of his publicist/assistants everyone always mistakes for a girlfriend.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Jake, Peter, and Ramona were there for the brunette in the second picture . . who may just be the girl he took to the burger place.
ReplyDeleteYahay! My review and interview with Vaughn now written up and submitted! Deep sigh of relief.
ReplyDeleteWhy would one of Jake's assistants be sitting with Jake in some Pub in Brooklyn on a Saturday night, he wasn't working.
ReplyDeleteIt's probably rhe same girl he is always seen with when he is in Brooklyn.
Morning all! Wednesday, sun is shining... Have a lovely day :D
ReplyDeleteThe sun is shining in Boston, too. I need to go off and read your review of "Xmen first class," WDW. It still kind of sticks in my craw that so many high-budget movies are made based on comic books. There have been three or four Xmen movies already, not counting the one on Wolverine. Twenty years from now, will the Xmen movies have been made with new casts? I'm betting on it.
ReplyDeleteJake has yet to make any sequels to his movies. "City Slickers" had a sequel, but Jake wasn't in it...
