Jake Gyllenhaal is clearly aiming to lend new meaning to the expression 'a tad busy'. Not only has his play got an extension - taking him almost all the way up to Christmas (everyone in the Gyllenhaal-Sarsgaard family will be receiving book tokens this year, including the babies) - and End of Watch is being released across the globe, then there's Prisoners to make and now we have confirmation that Jake is still to make Mississippi Grind next year. Not only that, it has a production month - May. Travelling down the Mississippi in May sounds good to me. The news comes from John Lesher, End of Watch producer who sounds very glad to be working again so soon with Jake.
This interview comes courtesy of the London Film Festival where Michael Pena has also been doing his bit to promote the movie. I must apologise to the End of Watchers for the classic October London weather but at least it wasn't foggy...
This seems like an excellent point to add a link to my review of End of Watch from the festival's Saturday screening.
There are some great new publicity shots for End of Watch over at IHJ. Here are a couple.
I wrote a guest post at Demention, a blog owned by novelists who look at the world a little differently. It's about time travel. You can read it here!
Hello everyone! Looks like we have quite a year in front of us! I hope you all had a good Monday :)
ReplyDeleteFinally, Jake is acknowledging what we have all known for a while: work is good and there is plenty of time to make multiple movies every year!
ReplyDeleteI am especially interested now in Mississippi Grind. I need to find out where they might be filming. Odds are they will end up at some point in New Orleans. It might be time to plan a trip there to coincide with filming...
Kate, I hope you have the stamina it will take to keep up with all the Jake news as we roll through the filming of Prisoners, Mississippi Grind, and the release of An Enemy. Happy days ahead!
Picking up on what Susan said, do we have a release date for An Enemy yet? Does anyone know?
ReplyDeleteHi Susan! It's good, isn't it?! Hopefully, no more of these two year lulls. So much better for everyone if he just does what he's so good at! Good days ahead :)
ReplyDeleteHi Tina - there isn't a date yet but II suspect an autumn date next year. It has TIFF written all over it.
It's very good feeling to know about all these Jake's projects. Next year looks exciting! And both these films seems to be very interesting. I wonder how Jake will look in them. After completely bald and very hairy.
ReplyDeleteNice that Michael visited UK at the premiere.
It honestly makes me quite giddy thinking about all the projects Jake has worked on in the past year and what is scheduled for the next year! Remember those long days with nothing going on for him work wise? How we would wait and wait and wait for...anything...ha ha! This is all so wonderful (as long as he schedules some time to rest in between...he must feel the need to go to a tropical island and lay on a lounge chair on the beach at this point).
ReplyDeleteYay Jake! And Yay WDW for the great coverage of Jake News! P.S. I laughed out loud at everyone getting book tokens for Christmas this year!!
:-)
Hi Mermon!t's good Michael was in the UK for LFF but he didn't attend many of the events or press unfortunately :(
ReplyDeleteHi BBMISwear :-) I think we'll all deserve a holiday under palm trees after next year! Thank you! Glad I gave you a chuckle :D
I hope you're all have a good day!
Stephen Gyllenhaal is in my country! During Warsaw Film Festival he presents his movie Grassroots. Today, I believe. And yesterday at the Festival was End of Watch screening. I read few opinions - very positive!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to report that fake JakeGyllenhaal is suspended from Twitter. Finally. He/She showed his opened support for Mitt Romney and it was a nail to his coffin! Finally. A suicide?
I think it's fantastic that Jake is getting to do so many films now - his career is really taking off - it's amazing, I'm so happy for him. It's nice to have some new films to look forward, plus I'm in the enviable position that I have yet to watch some of his earlier films :-) MORE to look forward to!
ReplyDeleteI would never had taken any notice of Jake unless my partner's daughter hadn't picked up Prince of Persia one rainy dull boring evening shopping trip to Tesco. I took one look at the DVD cover, compared to the rest of the rubbish in the cheap box, it looked OK, but DISNEY? Wasn't sure it was my thing, but got it for Vixi and My partner likes Gemma Arterton, naturally. How wrong I was about the film - I soon realised Jake was HOT. I was almost disappointed to discover later that he was America (Sorry to our cousins over the pond!) - his English accent was PERFECT!!
Keep up the great work Jake - you'll get an Oscar soon, for sure :-)
Oh wow!
ReplyDeleteSo many projects going on and to complete. So good for us!
Thanks for the posts Kate!
Hi Mermon! That's great! He was at the London Film Festival as well presenting Grassroots.
ReplyDeleteHello Bright Moon Crystals and welcome! PoP introduced Jake to so many new fans. It's great to see the interest continuing. Thanks for commenting :)
Good to see you Eureka! A pleasure :)
New post!
the comments keep coming and going :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, I forgot, seen Zodiac before Jarhead too :-) (ended way to quick for me that film, and not enough Jake action!)
