Happy birthday, Jake! And a look back to 12-12-12

Doesn't time fly?! It seems barely one month let alone 24 since Jake Gyllenhaal was talking about diving with walruses to celebrate his 30th birthday. But, as sure as night follows day and holidays in Italy are followed by excessive credit card bills and an expanded waistline, every year along comes another birthday - the 32nd. So, altogether now, with one voice: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JAKE! If the world's due to end on Friday, you might as well get a birthday in before it.

As someone born 6 days the other side of Christmas, please can I make a plea that you don't wrap Jake's presents in Christmas wrapping paper.

While I was away, Jake appeared on the 12-12-12 Concert for Sandy Relief, which took place in Madison Square Gardens and was watched by over 19 million Americans. As well as raising a huge amount of money, it also gave most of Britain's rockers a break from fog. Unfortunately, it's believed that some of them may have come back again. You can watch Jake's contribution above, with huge thanks to IHJ! If you were one of the lucky ones who placed a call and got Jake at the other end of the line, you may relive that moment below:

Happy birthday, Jake!

Thanks to IHJ for the pics.

  5. Happy birthday Jake ! Enjoy a lovely day with family and friends.

Good to see you are back, Kate. Hope you had a nice time in Italy. I'm looking forward for your Italian interlude.
I had a wonderful time in London a few weeks ago. I could (finally) see EoW and also managed to go to V&A to see the exhibition "Hollywood costumes". It was wonderful and I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately I couldn't take photos there.
Since EoW will be released in Germany this weekend I am going to the theater at the weekend. Can't wait :-)
Have a nice day everyone !

  7. Glad to have you back, Kate! Looking forward to the Italian interlude. Judging by your Tweets you had a wonderful time on holiday, for the most part. Nice to know Germany is finally getting to enjoy End of Watch. Hope it does very well there.

  8. I'm glad you enjoyed Italy, Kate! But, it's good to have you back with your sophisticated sense of humor!
Just in time to celebrate Jake's birthday with us!
Thanks for that second video, I didn't see it before. Jake was peeking from the distance!

Happy Birthday, Mr Gyllenhaal! Happy Birthday to you!
I'm singing in a Marilyn Monroe way :)

  9. Welcome back from your Italian holiday, Wet Dark and Wild!

Let me join in singing (rather tonedeaf-ly but I'm doing my best here) “Happy birthday to you, Jake”.

As I pointed out elsewhere (hope I'm not breaking any rules), today, for the first time in his career, Jake will be on stage for his birthday, performing. It sure is a totally new experience for him, most likely an exhilarating one. Kind of like having the world as a stage. I'd say it beats diving with walruses, but what do I know?
Hopefully some of his friends and family will be there for the evening show, so this particular anniversary will be one to remember.

Time for birthday wishes (carefully wrapped in non-Christmasy paper):
To find inner peace, without losing his creative restlessness.
To be content whilst always reaching for more artistically.
To never change his sweet nature, without losing his quirky edge.
And, above all, to finally be recognized, rewarded, awarded for his ability to convey inner turmoils, moral dilemmas, shattered minds, broken feelings or disenchanted hearts.
    Here's to you, Jake!

  10. Thanks, Susan! I had a wonderful time. We walked miles and ate so much! What a beautiful part of the world. Will post some pictures soon :)

Thank you, Mermon, that's really kind of you. And very tuneful, may I say!

Hi Laure! It will be different for Jake appearing on stage today - although I suppose most of us have to work on our birthdays (not me fortunately :D). That is such a beautiful wish for Jake. I echo every word :)

One day left at work. I can make it! I hope you all had a good day :)

  11. Yes time does fly WDW!! Welcome back from Italy...it sounds like it was great (and I, too, look forward to hearing/seeing more about it when you get a chance to post the interlude).

Lots going on...Happy Birthday to Jake (and spending it on stage - twice no less)! The big holiday fast approaching and then 2013 and all the fun Jake news that will bring. I recorded the 12.12.12 Concert - I was enjoying it but couldn't stay awake long enough to see Jake so was happy to see it the next day. The guy doesn't stop! Maybe he has a nice vacation planned for Christmas time (I would vote for somewhere warm but that's just me)!

Enjoy the holiday prep all! Looking forward to some pictures of Jake from his big day.

    :-)

  12. Hey BBMISwear :-) Good to see you! I hope your internet problems have been solved. Italy was just wonderful.

The 12.12.12 concert sounds epic. I always find these things hard to sit through so very relieved there's video.

  13. END OF WATCH is now on in Germany. Went there the first day it was released. Don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet - but at the end I WAS in floods!!! Jake's acting is extraordinary, very moving, very touching, very authentic, very realistic – and so without any hair on his head. And he's such a good dancer, too!!!!
    ;-)))
