As some of you may now be aware, Marzena (known to so many of us as Mermon) died suddenly last week, the news reaching us yesterday evening.
I've been trying to think what to write here but nothing is adequate. Mermon was only 40 years old, with a daughter, and with everything to live for. She had a love of life that was infectious and she cared deeply for friends here and had been a vital member of the wonderful WDW community for years. Personally, she was my friend and I will miss her terribly. She was the kindest, most generous and loving of people and someone like that cannot fail to leave a hole behind them so large that you know it can never be filled.
Obviously, our thoughts and hearts must be with Marzena's daughter and parents at this awful time.
Sasha is kindly gathering details and posting them in the GyllenPub - it's a freely accessible area, you don't need to log on. Thank you, Sasha.
If you would like to post a message in the comments here, please do. I know many of us will be affected by Mermon's loss. We will gather the messages up and send them on to Mermon's family.
It's so hard to find the right words, as there really are none, but you did a good job, Kate.
ReplyDeleteI still can't believe she's gone. She was so young and full of live, so many plans for her future.
I could always count on her to cheer with me on the good things in life and to help me make it trough the dark passages.
We have lost a truly wonderful person and friend.
Thanks, Sasha, and thanks for everything x You've put it perfectly. Mermon helped me so much, making me see sense time after time. I'm going to make sure I've learned from her. If I ever stop bawling my eyes out, that is.
ReplyDeleteDitto.
ReplyDeleteMermon's postings, especially on Twitter, always made me smile, WDW. She was a delightful, enthusiastic, warm person. Even thought I did not know her as well as many of you here, I will miss her, too. Your heartfelt words reflect the feelings of many of us today. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to offer my condolences to her family...and her many fans. : )
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bobbyanna - and I hope all is well with you and your lovely family x
ReplyDeleteWe are well, WDW. Thank you so much for asking.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear Bobbyanna x
ReplyDeleteI have received an email from Marzena's daughter and have copied it to the thread in the pub.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sasha
ReplyDeleteIt's a sad, sad day that raises so many questions. My heart goes out to her daughter - just the thought of having to miss my mum makes me shiver.
ReplyDeleteGlad that we have this place to share our feelings and memories. Thank you WDW!
Thanks so much, Lady E.
ReplyDeleteThis is such sad and shocking news. Such a sudden thing - it's not even sinking in yet. I only interacted with Mermon here on WDW and boy was she always full of enthusiasm and happy thoughts! She was such a huge fan of Jake's and always wanted to know more, learn all that she could and was asking tons of questions which made me more than happy to answer questions when she'd direct them my way. I will miss that so much - someone always interested in Jake related things and wanting to learn new things. She will be missed and my heart goes out to her family.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kate, for posting info here and, Sasha, for passing on important information here as well. So many kind words from WDW regulars and Jake fans/friends from all over the internet - I'm sure there will be many more nice comments in the days to come.
I want to join you to send a warm hug and pray to Marzena's daughter, brother and parents. I will miss her forever.
ReplyDeleteWDW blog comments and forum will never be the same. She was such a lovely, loving person.
Always caring and selfless always giving more than taking.
My heart will always remember Marzena.
While I read this comments, I keep thinking, Mermon will be so embarrassed to read those, because she doesn't like to be in the limelight.
ReplyDeleteAnd then I remember. She won't.
And that's the saddest part.
Hopefully she knew how much she meant to us.
Such sad news. I will miss Marzena's comments. She seemed to be a very lovely person. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Hi Kate and everyone!
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I've posted here although I check it regularly (I'm sorry for the silence). So I know many of you. Actually I was going to post my hello in the forum sometimes and thought Mermon would be the first to welcome me like she used to do with all new friends here. But I keep delaying my hello and now feel sad, although I only know her from this site. Her name and her posts get so familiar to me. Now there will be no more!
Like all of you, I' sure she's very nice and friendly in reality. I will remember and pray for Mermon. My condolences to her family!
Thank you all for commenting, especially the ones, who don't usually comment. This would have meant so much to Marzena. It certainly means a lot to me.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for posting, 11:10. I appreciate that :)
ReplyDeleteBeautifully put, Sasha :) IT means a lot to me, too.
