I'm particularly pleased that they've highlighted my very favourite scene from Bubble Boy - when Jimmy attempts to steal a can of beer. The movie is worth seeing alone just for Jake's commentary.
No 1 on the list is Falling Down with Michael Douglas, another good film with an oddness about it. As for the others, I think I've seen three and I am now keen to see a few more of them, although others look a little scary, in more ways than one.
Malinda Williams joins Nailed
As one actor leaves Nailed (on account of artistic differences over how to choke to death on a cookie), another one signs up. The latest addition is Malinda Williams, who has just completed one movie with Tracy Morgan and will now be in another. There is an interesting extra bit of information about their characters in Nailed: 'Malinda's character [Rakeesha] joins Jessica Biel and Morgan's characters on a march to Washington, DC to persuade Congress to pass new healthcare reforms. Also featured in the film are James Marsden and Catherine Keener. Morgan will play a an injured compatriot of Alice's who has given up on love.'
On the trail of a trailer
I had some time on my hands this weekend (quite possibly too much time) and got sucked into the bewildering maze that is The Dark Knight promotion campaign. In addition to a new poster, the movie's website Why So Serious is now throwing up 'clues' to where and when a few people in a few cities will be able to see a new trailer. Even I could work out that the countdown is leading towards Monday as the big day but for more than that I've needed help. Thank heavens for Superherohype. Clear as something that's not very clear at all. I must admit to feeling relieved to not having to decipher all this in the run up to a Jake Gyllenhaal movie...

I don't think you would want to see "Bubble Boy" and "Nailed" the same day. Suppose the nail puierces the bubble, and Jimmy is left vulnerable? :-(

Thank you WDW for the last two posts before this one, they were hilarious. Robert, I love you too, but if you ever try to set my Jake on fire again...... I can just imagine them as a double act - must have drove Fincher insane - but that experience will be with him for a lifetime :D
Hope you don't mind me sharing...speaking of RDJ I was browsing the interactive movie section on Sky and saw that Iron Man was showing at my local Showcase from 25th April to 2nd May. I dropped everything, left the housework, got dressed up and out to the cinema only to find that it was a mistake and that its on next week >:( (ended up wathing Deception with Michell Williams instead).
Paul, can you imagine the huge gasp from us as 'Nailed' gets closer to the 'Bubble' - good one. Jimmy is such a beautiful soul - so innocent, unaware, brave, very misinformed but with a philosophical positivity that's infectious. I'm so proud of Bubble Boy and it's one of a few Jake movies that children can watch.
I'm very surprised that not a lot of people have seen it - I know a lot of teenagers have.
I ache to see a new movie from Jake after having been so spoiled in 2006 when I bought almost all of his back collection. But thankfully, he's going to be very busy for this year for his work alone. Feed me Semour!
Hi WDW..and everone else...I too watched "October Sky" this morning...don't know what it is..but even though I own both movies on DVD, everytime "October Sky" and "Bubble Boy" are on the telly..I find myself watching them. HHMMM maybe I do know what it is...JAKE..LOL!! I have made no secret that I love "Bubble Boy" and the scene where he "attempts" to steal a beer is, in my opinion, the best scene in the whole movie!!
I am so looking forward to "Brothers"..I have not been following too much of the news about it though..has a release date been announced? Have a good Sunday everyone...

I was thinking about Jake and his movie certificates just yesterday - a whole load of them are 15s here or R in the US - Bubble Boy is a happy exception.
Oh bad news about not being able to see Iron Man (I don't know if I fancy the Ewan and Michelle movie to be honest) - it's definitely on my list of things to do next weekend :D

There's been very little news about Brothers but I believe it's due for release on 4 December which may bring it into the film festival season - here's hoping...

Oh, I forgot about October Sky being cert. 12 a good inspiring teen movie with an underlying theme about making dreams come true no matter who or where you are.
Speaking of TDK trailers. I saw the new trailer before Deception started. Lots of new bits in, Maggie had about two scenes and Heath featured strongly. That overwhelming sadness came upon me at the end but TDK is going to be spectacular and in those two minutes I was completely sucked into the story.

I think Monday's trailer is a different one - that's even if it is a trailer. Judging by the website it could be anything and i wouldn't be surprised if turns out to be a mushroom omelette.

DD is 15 as are most of Jake's films. I think Highway was the only cert 18 film.
Gosh, that site is wild, exciting. I wish I was in one of those cities and they do these things on the weekend when everyone's got more free time. Who's got 300 friends anyway? It appears to give the longtitude and latitude co-ordinates of locations where the next clue will be. Any clues for London and who is the president that's featured for it? Kind of like treasure hunt with Aneka Rice - Bring out the yellow jumpsuit :D

I don't think I can handle being that confused twice in a week. The other one being after I watch Southland Tales. I must watch it again for it has gotten in my head and I can't stop thinking about it. Kinda like I was with DD.
I love BB. It is such a silly little movie. I think more people have seen it then admit to it. It has this sort of stigma to it. But if you insert "bright and shiny" and "cut the vato" into sentence you surprisingly get a reaction out of a lot of people who have clearly viewed and enjoyed it. I guess some movies are just like that.
I too watch October Sky this morning and got hassled by Mr. BG cause I was watching a movie that I own. He just doesn't get it.

Charleston is about an hour and a half from Columbia..not far at all. There are a lot of great restaurants here..especially in the downtown area..it all depends on what you like!

Hey WDW, no sluething required, all the clues were already given although I'd got me pipe, cape and riding hat ready. Lots of cities in the US can take part as well as Toronto - so I think we're lucky to be one of the cities chosen to take part.
Hola Pia, now that you've said there's eggs on Batman Begins I'll add that to my collection. I love eggs - goes well in pies and pie charts.
I've read 'The Mud Below' and can see your point of Diamond as a young Jack. A very good story but the ending was disappointing and I wasn't invested in it so much of course as BBM. I liked 'A pair of spurs' as the characters came to life. I think if I hadn't seen the movie first and read the book after, I probably would have loved the other stories.
I hope all the cities involved have a wonderful evening of sluething and bonding.
Strom Thurmond was a Senator from South Carolina. He lived to be 100, and had the longest Senate career in the country's history. I can imagine him being in that state house where "Nailed" is being filmed (I think he was governor earlier in his life, so he would have worked there...).
I have not seen any of the new "Dark Knight" trailers. Not even when I saw "Deception" yesterday. Michelle Williams was really lovely, but I wish she'd had more screen time. I love Ewan McGregor. All in all, great acting from the three leads, but I ended up not really caring what happened to them.
Hey, Sheba, I thot the bullriding scene in The Mud Below was the best action scene Id ever read in a short story, and the comment that for Diamond. in his future life "Love came down like an axe and slaughtered him," - was perhaps a forecast of what happened to Jack and Ennis - the story seemed a similar one to Jack's own back story. And it was also for me an antidote to a sorta idolization of the figure of Jack Twist, as romantic hero -

OMG Sheba, that comment of your's has given me loads of homework. I think it's true that while BBM grabbed me by the scruff of my neck instantly the others didn't and so I haven't found oyung Jacks anywhere. Annie's other stiry that really got me was The Shipping News - I adore that story and those huge wide open spaces with the moving home.

Pia, that's beautiful in context with BBM - I didn't see that connection but now its so profound. Definitely the father/son connection was difficult between the two stories although I'm sure Jack was John's son...... however...... ummmm...
Hi WDW. Not read The Shipping News yet although I heard it got great reviews probably even before BBM. I tell you Annie's book and BBM movie has conjured up so many images of beautiful landscapes. I need to head back to Ontario which is becoming a big tourist draw for people who have watched the film and want to go visit Brokeback Mountain.
So who's going to TDK fest tomorrow in your various towns/cities? Would love to see your comments ;D

I'm probably going to have to see "Iron Man." I was waiting for the dentist this morning, and the TV in the waiting room was tuned to Regis Philbin's show. Robert Downey Jr came on, and talked about having to do a screen test for the film, because the director didn't think he was right for the role. He talked about the eye holes int he armor being in the wrong place, s he would have to shoot scenes without being able to see where he was going. :-(
Wonder if tne Nailed cast and crew are gonna take off to go to the Kentucky Derby.

Good evening all. Just got home and looked at the site for TDK. It seems that the location has been updated and moved to The Mall, near Horse Guard's Road. The time (I made a booboo) is now at 9pm (it must be synchronised around the world). I'm very intrigued to see what's going to happen (maybe that egg omlette afterall) ;D
As for Iron Man, a lot of studios were reluctant to take Robert on as he was a huge insurance risk. I admire the director, John Favero? who fought for Robert. Even before seeing the movie I know Robert is Tony Stark and very believable judging from the trailers. I understand there will be previews on 1st of May before it's released (please check before rushing off and being disappointed like I was).
Trying to work and looking at April Jake was so distracting but very welcome. Stay dry y'all (crazy weather).

I was lolling at the video with Maroon 5. She was a kooky interviewer but I happened to find her few questions on Jake very funny. I don't think it was a problem of her asking a few questions since she did make sure to bring it back to the band. But she sure knew how to put them on the spot the whole interview, lol.

Good to see you Get Real :) It's been an odd day here - I took a photo this evening of a tree in full blossom in the bright sunshine but with rain falling and a huge rainbow behind it. Very strange weather.
I did have a good laugh at the Maroon 5 interviewer - you have to admire the cheek of someone like that and the boys seemed to be amused and hey, if you went to school with JG you have to put up with the questions!
