Prince of Persia trailer to debut with 2012 on November 13

A date for the diary - November 13. Actually, another date for the diary - 2012. The Prince of Persia trailer will premier with 2012 on November 13! All right, you'll have to sit through cities and civilisations cascading into rampaging oceans but what's a spot of CGI world annihilation when it's preceded by Jake Gyllenhaal on the big screen as the Prince of Persia? Good old Roland Emmerich.

We have a report that the 'Yesterday afternoon, Disney and OnePR treated games journalists to the first ever screening of the Prince of Persia film trailer.' We have no pictures yet but we have a good description: 'The majority of the trailer is Jake Gyllenhaal leaping off of things while Gemma Arterton narrates in a quasi-mystical voice about the Dagger of Time and its powers.'

'Like all action trailers, there's a lot of quick cutting between unrelated sequences. Someone opens a door, the Prince looks around like he's confused and the Princess – called Tamina, not Farah – walks around looking pretty and exchanges PG-rated flirts with the Prince. Some dudes in black robes show up, looking like they just walked off the set of The Scorpion King and there's a lot of sand and gold stuff.'

'An interesting scene I noticed being repeated was a glowing fiery vortex within the Dagger of Time. You can see it in the trailer when the Prince activates it during a fight to rewind time. You see it again at the end of the trailer only somehow the Prince and some other person appear to be inside the Dagger, swirling around the vortex. Seems like a climactic boss fight to me. Also a temple-looking place collapses – it's all very Indiana Jones.'

Hopefully, we will soon hear what happened with the Q&A with Jordan Mechner after the screening.

So, the gamers have seen the trailer, now let the Gyllenhaalics have a go!

Full report here. Pictures of the switching shoes thanks to IHJ.

Morning Anna! Well, now the trailer's 'out there', I bet it won't be long before it pops up somewhere. The good old days were the weekend! I love how Jake switches shoes :D Have a good day *)

LOL! I noticed that just now. But it's great to see him out with family again. It brings me back to the good old days anyway. :D

Be honest – how many of you are going to go see the film 2012 just so you can watch the Prince of Persia trailer on the big screen? I totally did that with Scooby-Doo for a Harry Potter trailer and again with some other terrible film for a Two Towers trailer.

No way I would watch a film directed by this guy who along with Michael Bay should be kicked out of Hollywood!

have a great day!

oh... hubby wants to catch 2012 in cinema! I should keep it quiet that there will be Jake appearance... haaaa...

looking forward to Jake leaping up and down mountains (err... sand dunes?)

(my word is "bugger"! LOL)

Thanks for the heads up on the trailer WDW! I like Winterbird's line of thinking - I may have to try it - ha ha! Better yet, no watching 2012 for me...I'll just leave after the trailers!

I've been giggling at the shoe switch myself...perhaps while shopping at Billy Reid?!

So good to see Jake out and about in NYC with his Dad...good old days is right! And did I mention yet how good he looks?! (I think I did yesterday).

Hope you're having a good day.

:-)

Moning Monica! I'm looking forward to seeing 2012 - I'm prepared to forgive Roland for 10,000 BC :D

Hi Winterbird! Well, try to sit there quietly and innocently when Jake appears. It's gotta be better than sitting through Confessions of a Shopaholic just for the poster :D

Hey BBMISwear! I think you should sit all the way through it, for the true Emmerich experience :D The shoe switch did make me chuckle - I love the Nike - why take them off? The bag looks heavy... Jake looks amazing!!! Simply stunning :-)

Have a good day!

I'm trying to "figure out" the review of the trailer. He seems to want to compare it to other things thus giving it a kind of - it's no big deal. He did like that one scene inside the dagger look.
If you're going to make a movie with a desert in it, it's going to have the look of other movies done in the desert just as movies filmed in large cities have kind of the same look..ha.
I think some in the game community are still going to want to kind of "fight" the movie because they would know what should be right about it and maybe no movie could come up to what they would want.
But I'm sure too there are some that will really enjoy it.
The trailer should be on line about the time it's seen with the movie. Sometimes Entertainment Tonight does that.
Always liked to see Jake and the family tho that situation has changed. Good tho he and Maggie have had more of a chance to see each other.
Now in his life he has someone he cares about and he's making movies and more on the horizon. I think these are good days for him.

You watched 10.000AC? You are a brave woman!
I just saw three films this director. Two of them just because of Jake and Heath!

Avatar would be a great choice to see the trailer of POP.

Hi Anon :) I thought the reviewer sounded pretty impressed (despite his Ben Kingsley worries!) I suppose he couldn't show the trailer so he had to describe it to us in a frame of reference. I rather like the Indiana Jones comparison :D

I did, Monica! It was awful! But I loved TDAT and Patriot so I'm gonna give Roland the benefit of the doubt. I'm really looking forward to seeing 2012 - with lots of popcorn and a tub of Ben & Jerry's :D I am definitely looking forward to seeing Avatar!

Mmmm. Ben & Jerry's... Along with Jake it's a perfect date.

Great news:) We had a bank holiday yesterday so I was suffering from post holiday blues today until I read this. Hopefully the trailer will pop up online before then. They usually do.

My OH is really looking forward to 2012 so I would have been going anyway. Though can't say I was all that interested in it. That's all changed but I will definitely be keeping quiet about the Jake appearance:)

Actually, WDW maybe you won't have to sit thru 2012.If you buy a ticket for another movie, and you get there early enough, it might be that yu can peak into the auditorium and watch the trailer, then run out before the movie comes on. I really don't care to see 2012, so I'm thinking of ways to avoid it but still see "my Prince!" :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Sounds good to me, too, Anna!

Don't fight it, Gretchen - you know you want to see John running around dodging meteors :D

Hi Carol, I think it'll pop up too :D So exciting to think it's getting so lcose now. And it'll be all over the mags etc next year!

Hey Persimmon :D Gotta say that I would probably have seen 2012 even without the enticement of the PoP trailer - I'm weak!!
