Be On Your Guard! Don't underestimate the Shirtless Jake Gyllenhaal Yoga Peril

I am deeply concerned about the good people of Berkeley, Oakland and San Francisco - Jake Gyllenhaal has been seen doing yoga shirtless in your vicinty. Obviously this is no joking matter. Not only does it mean that a yoga bug will hit these areas (think New Year Resolutions time in your own gym and multiply the effect 1000 fold), leading to overcrowding of biblical proportions, but if you should end up in a class with Jake Gyllenhaal contorting his shirtless body into the Ustrasana position, do not underestimate the threat this poses to your blood pressure.

Always one to think of others, I thought I would try and help the people of this part of California with a scientific experiment. I will attempt to numb potential yoga classmates to the effects of the GyllenBod with a form of aversion therapy. And then they will succeed in breathing one lung at a time without any additional risk to their health.

Hopefully, after studying these pictures, the next time you're forming the Cobra next to a shirtless Jake Gyllenhaal, you won't bat an eyelid. For a further guide to Yoga Jake, please consult this Guide to Hot Yoga.

Includes pictures from IHJ, chest courtesy of Jake Gyllenhaal.

Hum...I keep looking at the (fantastic!) selection of pics (never enough Treasure Trail pics, never enough) and all I get is lightheadedness and heart palpitations. Maybe I should look some more? This is a great thing you're doing for those poor yoga people, it could save their lives! :DDD

Thanks Olympia! I know, I'm doing my best to prepare these poor people for what might face them in their next (or should that be first?) yoga class. They must be warned. If you're still getting palpitations, there's nothing for it - you must study the pictures in more detail - build up your immunity levels.

After your red wine guide last night, I'm experimenting with a cheeky Zinfandel - straight from the Yoga Region.

Hope everyone's having a good Sunday :D

Love the shirtless pics...can't even imagine watching that body get in and out of yoga positions but thanks for helping me 'try' to imagine!!

This lovely post added to my relaxing weekend...thank you WDW! *Waves to Olympia* (even though Ottawa beat the Bruins yesterday at the Boston Garden...I had some not so happy family members there)!

Shirtless jake is all well and good (which it is), but his sister can really light up a movie screen, as I found this afternoon when I went to see "Crazy heart."
As some of you may know, the star of that movie won a "best Actor" award at last night's Screen Actors Guild awards last night, so even though it was 4:30 on a Sunday afternoon (usually a time when few people want to be at the movies), there were huge numbers of people there. It's a great movie! Great actors in supporting roles, people like Beth Grant, Colin Farrell and Robert Duvall. Jeff Bridges is a force of nature. He proved that he could sing in "Fabulous Baker Boys," and he can still pur across a song. I've always thought that country music goes down easy even if you aren't a fan of the genre.

So, congrats to Jeff for the award and also to Maggie for holding her own as a believable character. The kid who played her son stole a few scenes as well.

It's a pleasure, BBMISwear! always like to help with the relaxation.

Paul, thanks so much for telling us about Crazy Heart. It's still not out here but I can't wait to see it - saw the trailer before Brothers. Good to see Jake and maggie on the big screen like that :)

Hi Thump! I hope you're not overdoing the yoga...

Hi there Anon :)

Morning everyone! Monday....

I could do with Jake teaching me some handy yoga neck tips right now.

have a good day!

Morning Winterbird! Posting at the same time :D A shirtless Jake pic is essential on a Monday morning, I think.

So...no pictures of Jake in San Fran/Berkeley/Oakland yet?

Just wondering. I'm in need of something energizing.

Okay, back to work. Ho Hum.

OMG (feel like a teenager typing that!) I know he is not a real person but I am in love with Tommy Cahill - what a great character Jake played. Wish I had an uncle Tommy! (maybe not "uncle"!)

Brothers was a very emotional film and very good, was holding my breath at times. Want to see it again.

Maggie was a force of nature in Crazy Heart. She was luminous!

I'm just baffled as to why neither Maggie nor Jake got any recognition for absolutely riveting performances!

Yes the critics raved about them both, and their co-stars gave them high praise. But they certainly should have been nominated.

I've seen many of the performances that were nominated, and frankly, even though I might like the actors very much, they haven't measured up to what Maggie or Jake did with their roles.

Jake certainly held his own with anything any of the supporting actor nominees has done as well.

Giant 3-D posters?

I may be pre-ordering now. :)

Only 4 months and 3 days till POP :D Let the build-up commence.

Hi from Bratislava! LOL, I was about to apologize that there isn't any shirtless Jake in the calendars, but just this second I remembered that there actually IS! In every single one of them! Couldn't have a Jake calendar without the blue shorts pic, could I? Phew!!! LOL!
Nice, err, pics in the post, WDW, LOL! Unfortunately I hardly manage to do more than scan these days... :(
Hugs all around!!

Hi there everyone! Came back home with a bad neck, had a nap and then done the new post - newly released interview and that lovely PoP book! Thanks for the heads up Silver :D

Hi BBMISwear :-) And yet the sightings continue... It's good to think of Jake out and about doing his thing with friends but just a teeny weeny piccie....

It did my day good too, Carol!

Hi Karen :D One thing with Jake, he does make one type that quite a bit! We were laughing at that line where the kids say they prefer Uncle Tommy - Me too! Well, not as an uncle, obviously, ahem... I'm gllad you liked Brothers.

Hi Anon - I've been very disappointed by that too. All this praise and glory for Jeff Bridges, I'd have liked to see some come Maggie's way. And for Jake too. He definitely deserved it. I don't think Brothers was even given to the BAFTA jury to judge.

Thanks Silver! I've ordered :D

Uli! Good to see you over there in Bratislava. Hope it's going ok. Just pop in when you can. And huge thanks for including a Jake chest in my calendar - well, thank you for all the pics - and for there being no Ukelele :D Glad you like the pics!

I've never done yoga but I wouldn't mind watching him do it :D

Thanks for those EYE catching closeups of certain body parts (I tried not to hurt myself)

I wonder if this has something to do with Source Code?

Thanks WDW

Hi, WDW.

"All this praise and glory for Jeff Bridges, I'd have liked to see some come Maggie's way. And for Jake too. He definitely deserved it. I don't think Brothers was even given to the BAFTA jury to judge."

There's a lot of strange stuff that goes on when the awards season comes along. I try to remind myself that a great movie is a thing of joy in and of itself. It doesn't need justification in the form of awards. Many extraordinary actors never got Oscars. Jake and Maggie are helping to tell wonderful stories through the medium of film, and I am thrilled to see them do it and to support them by going to see their films.

Jake has been nominated for an Oscar, and both he and Maggie have won some awards. I've spoken to many people here in the Boston suburbs, and as soon as I mention that I've seen a movie with Maggie Gyl;lenhaal in it, they'll say. "Sh's great!" So, people *know* who's good. We don't need awards groups to tell us. At least that's how I see it.

But, yeah, it would be nice to see Jake and Maggie take an Oscar or two home with them someday. I don't feel any need to hold my breath until it happens...

Hi Sweetpea! I'm not one for yoga either - I'm an aerobic kind of person - but I'd definitely take it up for a Jake class!

Hi Paul :D I do agree with what you say about how good it is to see Jake and Maggie a part of good films. And yes we don't need awards to know they're good, and I'm sure they don't either, but it wouldn't hurt, if only to raise the profile of Maggie to give her that freedom to choose roles. But yeah, I won't hold my breath either :D
