Jake Gyllenhaal's holiday treat and happy birthday Duncan Jones!

Surely it must be my birthday, or maybe it's some other grand occasion that I'm unaware of and Jake Gyllenhaal wants to give me a treat. It might be a wet and rainy holiday Monday but who cares about a few raindrops, a muddy car and there being nothing on the telly (no surprises there then) when Jake decides to take his muscles for a run? Actually, maybe there's one thing better than that - Jake taking his muscles out for a run while wearing Nike. Give me a sheet of paper with masses of boxes on it and I'll tick every one. Extra tick for the red. Please note how I'm not mentioning the tongue...

The previous day (29 May), Jake put on his smiley face when picking up his car in a garage in Hollywood. It's becoming more difficult to see Jake's smiles due to the efforts of the encroaching sasquatch so we should enjoy them while we can.

And finally...

Many many happy returns of the day to Duncan Jones on the occasion of his big 4-0. And many thanks to you for your gifts to us over the last year :)

Many thanks to IHJ for the great pictures! Duncan picture is by me.

My review of Attack the Block is now up at MovieBrit.

Who cares about the alphabet anyway? Just three letters needed in situations like these.
I'm talking about the arms and tongue obviously, not the Face Pet... Although pics like these put even me in a mood to forgive Sasquatch for his disturbing jaw-hiding skills...

*Meanwhile, screams can be heard from the north-west corner of continental Europe: 'Start filming End of Watch already! Please!!'* ;-)

I like how you think LAdy Ekster. he looks good enough to eat! He'll be shaving it all off soon. so we'll be able to see that gorgeous face under that face rug

Ooh you were quick Lady Ekster! I was just off catching up with the comments on the previous post and here you are - good to see you and Sweetpea :)

Clearly Jake is now in tiptop condition and he is READY! If only he didn't have to wear that uniform.... hoping for lots of scenes with a) no uniform b) more hair c) less sasquatch...

Hi Sweetpea! Let's hope so or his face will be so so much hairier than his head!

Updated the post as I wanted to mention (and of course left out) Duncan's birthday!

Haha, thanks WDW. *grin* I saw the pics at IHJ upon coming home and I couldn't wait to read what you had to say about them. :-D

Congratulations Duncan! :)

Lady X, Sweetpea - I'm in on screaming for EOW to start so that somebody will take care of the face pet. The only thing that worries me is that we might have to go through this again once they are done shooting.
Unless Duncan will cast Jake for another movie in the meantime.

Hello, everybody! Feels like a long time since I last commented. Shame on me...

May 30th is Duncan's birthday? Hope he has a great time! Today it's sort of special for me as well: officially one month of wait before I can see Source Code. End of June, just like I thought it'd be originally.

That's why I can't let these new photos distract me. Psyching up for SC starts right now. Will have to check all your March/April posts again, WDW. Tough... not. ;-)

Am I the only one to do not care of Jake's facial hair? I am glad he does what he wants, catching breath before work, not giving a damn about what the others think about his look. Enjoying having hair before shaving them probably completely. And yes! Preparing his body for first shots. I can't wait to find out, who will be his lady of the heart. I hope they will fit nicely.

Happy Birthday Duncan! All the best.

@Alejandra! I can't believe that you didn't see SC yet. It's a shame. I admire your patience.

Alejandra said...

Hi Mermon! I did jump of joy wwhen they said SC would open on May 12th here -and then my heart broke a little when it got re-scheduled. BUT I think of SC as the last slice of the super delicious cake that this period of time has been (with Brothers, PoP, LAOD). Who knows how long we'll have to wait until we can see Jake on the big screen again? I'll miss him so much! And so for now, I'm happy that that last slice still there. :-)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Lady Ekster! They made me very happy :)

Hi Mrs JG :D I'm hoping that Jake will be in such a work mood after EoW that the sasquatch won't stand a chance...

So good to see you Alejandra! And I am so sorry about that long wait. How it goes on. That's just awful. When you get to see it we'll get the bunting out and celebrate with you :) Hope things are good with you! Enjoy that last slice.

This is a good time, Mermon, but yes you may be! Chuckle. Commenting on Jake's hair and beard has been a lot of fun over the years. It just never stays still :D It doesn't matter of course, it's meaningless, but it is fun.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

By the way, my review of Attack the Block is now up at MB

mermon said...

@Alejandra, I understand what you mean. Enjoying the last slice of something delicious. In some way - it's good for you - you have something new yet to enjoy. On the other hand, when I remember all those discussions about SC, trying to solve all the mysteries and you still didn't seeing it - it's just so weird.
@Kate - of course, I know what is all about in that game :).

Susan said...

Oh, Jake, every now and then you do something just to brighten Kate's day, don't you? ;)

Happy birthday, Duncan! Can't wait to see what you may have in store for us next.

Mermon, you are not the only one who doesn't mind Jake's hair - facial or otherwise - in a constant state of flux. Although it is fun to see how it causes such turbulence among the fandom.

Alejandra, don't stay away so long. We miss you! Sorry SC is taking such a long time getting to you, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on it once you've seen it.

I smile happily..sigh...Jake has on a yellow bow for ME...no wait...(I make the picture bigger)darn, it's the arms of the jacket...(I really do need new glasses :)!.

Jake in red...very patriotic for our holiday! It is quite startiling to see Jake out of the blue, grey, white shirt range of colors, lol.

Hey WDW, thanks for answering the question yesterday regarding the exchange student time of his. And thanks for all the antedotes, pictures and up to date information you provide. I love your blog and your outside excursions with pictures which should not be missed. You spend a lot of time and you seem to be lovely person online. Thanks again! :)

I'm also in on the screaming for EOW to start filming so that will see the Face Pet disappear for awhile at least:)

Don't know why this just popped into my head but is there any update on that Bear Grylls documentary.

Happy birthday Duncan:) Enjoy the celebrations.

Hui said...

Even though Jake is rough, he is still HOT and CUTE XD
I don't mind he is running toplessXD

And Happy Birthday!!! Ducan!!

Happy birthday Duncan! I hope you and Jake get to work together again in the future.

I love this blog more and more, I said that once but it probably went unnoticed, I see you get many lovely comments!

I just wanted to add my praise for your wonderful job in keeping us Gyllen-crazies updated with all Jake's. Truly awesome job!

Oh, did I tell you that I met him, here in Rome, face to face, and talked to him? :-) it was just two months ago but I'm still on cloud nine :-)

Anyway, as I said, thank you sooo much. I'll try and comment more often (you also got my "like" and comment on Facebook yesterday! multitasking or what?) :-)

Ciao from sunny Rome!

Aww, his wee bit of hair is growing! And so is his beard...Anyway, he IS looking mighty delicious!

mermon said...

@juliathecat - could you share with us your meeting with Jake, please. What you were talking about, how was he, how he smelled :) everything!
Welcome here!

Jules said...

Hey mermon, thanks for the welcome!! I'm a long time lurker of this blog but feels extremely good to "come out" :-)

I just realized that Kate knows all about my brief encounter with Jake, I remember I desperately contacted her to know his whereabouts here when someone told me he had already landed in Rome. Well, maybe "talked to him" is a slight exaggeration but here you go.

I met him in front of the hotel he had stayed for the night, he was headed to the restaurant and then to the airport to fly to Berlin. Long story short, when he got out of the hall of the hotel and on the curb where his car was waiting for him, a few people surrounded him and asked for photographs and pictures and even if I was just a few inches from him I couldn't get near enough to get one for myself. By the time those people left him alone he was already into the car.

I just called one more time "Jake!" with a picture of him in my hands when he shut the car door and I thought my chance was over. I was staring at the dark window trying to convince myself that at least I had seen him when he opened the car door again, looked up at me, took the picture and pen from my hands and started to sign it. I told him "That's very kind of you thanks. You're great. Good luck on Source Code". He looked at me giving me the picture and the pen back and said "No, thank *you*, really". And off he went. I walked to the restaurant, I knew where he was headed, and waited for him to finish dinner just to give another close look. I was the happiest, silly old gal ever *grins* and still am! :-)

Unfortunately I could not smell him, but I can tell you that in the flesh he's so much better than in the pictures, even if I know it doesn't seem possible. It is. He's just the hottest, kindest, sexiest man alive.

Hello everyone! Had a shocker of a day. But feeling better now after curling up with a book and a beer :) I'm easily fixed!

Good to see you Julia and thank you! I'm so glad that you've commented. I loved hearing by email about your Jake encounter in Rome. It would be wonderful if you could share it here as it's such a lovely one.

Hi Mermon - you'll love it :D

Hey Georgie, it's just been cut but hopefully it will freegrow rapidly :D

It's a nice sight, isn't it, TD? :)

Talking of encounters, a friend of mine was telling me that a friend of hers was at a gig that Jake attended this year. The girl found the sound levels a bit much and so Jake ripped tissue for her to put in her ears :) Isn't that lovely?

Wet Dark and Wild said...

OMG! That's so spooky, Julia! I was just posting and you were here at the same time - thanks so much for sharing it with everyone! It's especially good to hear as we didn't hear much from the Italian part of the SC trip. Thank you!

Jules said...

Wow Kate, spooky indeed! :-) I still can't believe what happened that night...if it wasn't for my photographed (and duly framed) picture...:-)

Lovely, really, to be among other Gyllen-crazies (hey, do you mind if I call us like that?)

I'm having a Prosecco right now, I know how easily one gets fixed!

Ciao!!

Unknown said...

@Julia: thank you so much for sharing your experience. I am so jealous that you got a signed pic of Jake. How sweet was that of him to open the door again for you.

WDW, love the story about the tissue, sounds just like something that Jake would do!
Sorry to hear you're not feeling well.

I'm going to watch TDAT now to fix myself. And Prosecco sounds like the perfect drink for that!

Carol said...

Julia thank you so much for sharing your experience with us:)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

That's such a wonderful story, Julia! You'll not forget that in a hurry. It's on of the best things about autographs, you look at them and remember how you got them. Thanks for sharing :)

I love this talk of Prosecco - such a perfect summer's evening drink!

What a wonderful way to spend the evening, Mrs JG :)

Good to see you, Carol!

mermon said...

@JuliaEnnis - your story is fantastic, shows how great Jake is. Lucky you. Thanks for sharing with us.

I know it's in the wee hours of the night, but after seeing TDAT I had to look something up on the net and came across these SC related links:

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/source-code-has-a-secret-alternate-ending-23997.html

and

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Summit-Sending-Source-Code-To-VOD-Early-24984.html

I hope these links work, I keep forgetting how to post links on blogger - and it's late!

Good night now everyone.

I got a chance to catch up on a few days worth of posts today - thank you so much as usual WDW! Great work! Jake is certainly Lookin' Good these days :-)

It is great to get new interviews from his time in Germany (thank you, too, Mrs. JG). As much as many of us say we prefer film releases on the same day world wide (it really is the only fair thing to do!) when it is staggered like this it really spreads it out and lets us enjoy the interviews, etc. for months!

Great story Julia - doesn't he make you feel so good when he does stuff like that?!

Well off to dinner - good night Gyllen-crazies (that made me laugh)!

:-)

Hello guys,

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Yes, when Jake does something like that it makes you feel all warm inside. He really is a sweetheart.

Hey, I was just re-reading my posts and noticed I wrote "photograped" instead of "autographed" a couple of times. Must be all those glasses of Prosecco *grins*!

Have a good day, y'all!

:-)

Thanks BBMISwear :-)

Hello to Julia and Hui :)

So stressed out at work so I'll be back later... I wouldn't mind some of that Prosecco right now!

Hi again, folks!

It's that Prosecco time again!:-)

Thank you for your comments about my encounter with our man...it really feels good to share it with you in this amazing place!

I have the signed picture but don't forget the pen...sometimes I take it in my hand and think that HE touched it and I feel like the silliest and happiest and craziest 45yo Italian Gyllen-crazy girl alive LOL

Yeah, not all human beings act like real grown-ups at this age I guess, huh? :-)

Have a good rest of your days, folks!
