Jake Gyllenhaal covers Germany's McDonalds news, Maggie's reading and a WDW Interlude

While Jake Gyllenhaal continues his mission to do all our exercise for us - he was spotted looking 'ripped', running up Runyon Canyon yesterday, here is a picture from Jake's appearance in McDonald's last month. I don't mean a photograph of Jake tucking into a Supersize Me burger but the cover of the fast food joint's German Kino News. This means of course that there is goodness in a McDonalds after all... Thanks to Mrs JG for the scan.

Maggie Gyllenhaal meanwhile performed a reading of Alan Alda's new play Radiance: The Passion of Marie Curie at Wednesday's opening night of the World Science Festival in New York. There are details here and below is an image from the event. Source.

WDW Interlude

This weekend, good friend and Brokie Uli has been visiting us from Germany. Today we did a tour of the Cotswolds, busy as ever due to the warm summer sunshine and the ever present threat of afternoon tea, ice cream and even morris dancers. Among the places visited was the prehistoric hillfort, Uffington Castle, known best of all for its chalk figure of the White Horse, opposite Dragon Hill with its white spot of chalk or dragon's blood from when St George slew the beast.

We also visited the holiday home of the iconic figure of the late 19th century Arts and Crafts Movement, William Morris. Kelmscott Manor is a beautiful house, it might have no running water but it is awash with Morris and Rossetti delights.

Lunch was at the stunning Cotswold town of Chipping Camden, which had been taken over by a fair and there were indeed morris dancers,...

...before heading home via the Rollright Stones.

Includes scan from Mrs JG, pictures from Just Jared and WDW.

Wow! You were quick!! Thanks again for the wonderful day today! I hope the two of you get a nice rest now, you deserve it!
Unfortunately I have to report that the Sainsbury had run out of Clotted Cream! Oh, the disappointment!!!! :D :D :D

Congratulations to your first Jake anniversary, Mermon! Ach, I like to think back to the days when the whole Brokeback and Jake experience was still so fresh!!

Uli! Damn - clotted cream would not be easy to put in the post, either! Thanks for a lovely day - you've worn us out!

I like to think back to those days too - precious times :)

Kate, Sheba, Uli - thank you all for your congratulation. I do celebrate by watching LAOD and Monday I will go to see SC again!

I can see that in Germany it was quite good SC promotion. Even in MCDonalds. And many interviews. Good. That is a chance that many Germans will go to see the movie.

Beautiful pictures Kate. You promote your country very well.

Seems like you had a wonderful time together, Uli and WDW.
Too bad we weren't able to meet in Berlin in April, Uli. You sound like a very nice "Landsmännin".

Tomorrow I will finally go to the theater. Why my hubby has to do overtime AND nightshifts on the opening weekend of SC will never enter my mind, I'm afraid!

Thanks a lot MrsJakobGyllenhaal! :) That would have been nice!
I still cannot believe how fucked up that was - Jake being in Berlin and me not being able to go and see him!!!
And now I also missed all the SC promo in Germany!! LOL

You all enjoy SC then! Might go and see it again myself...
Curious to see how it will do in Germany

What a beautiful day with beautiful pictures! Glad you had so much fun. :)

It's a good thing that Jake is doing all my excercises, my ice cream consumption has gone way up with this summer heat. Thanks gorgeous, keep it up!

By the way, I am glad to report that I was finally able to spend the evening in the company of our dearly beloved Jamie Randall - my LAOD dvd arrived today, woohoo! Such a pleasure to enjoy Jake and Anne on my own couch this time. :)

Morning everyone,
Seemed if you had a lovely day. The pictures are great.
Congrats to your first anniversary, Mermon :-).
@Mrs. JG: enjoy SC today :-)
After long time waiting I went to the theater yesterday for SC. I was so excited to see it (although I "had" Berlin). I don't like the voice they gave Jake in Germany very much, but nevertheless: it was wonderful to see Jake on the big screen again :-)
Have a nice Sunday everyone !
Christina

Morning everyone! Slept for 12 hours....

Enjoy LAOD again, Mermon! I fancy watching that again.

At last the wait is over, Mrs JG!

Morning Uli! It really is such a shame it didn't work out but I'm convinced they'll be other chances. But in the meantime you can go and see Dubbed Jake! Have a safe trip home x

It really was, TD :) I hope you're having a lovely weekend.

That's fab, Lady Ekster! At last! Agreed about the ice cream. No wonder Jake's having to do all this exercise the amount of ice cream I'm eating...

Morning Christina! I don't think I could cope with Dubbed Jake but at least it's good to have the film at last :)

Have a lovely Sunday everyone!
