LAPD Medal of Honor Ceremony
On 26 May, the LAPD Medal of Honor ceremony took place during which ten officers were awarded the highest honour for bravery given by the LAPD. Jake and others from the End of Watch crew attended the ceremony, no doubt receiving immense inspiration as the film takes shape. '“In a town where our studios turn out fictionalized accounts of hero cops, it’s amazing to see in the very same town that real guys exist,” Los Angeles City Council President Eric Garcetti, 13th District, said.' Winter wonderland
We have yet to see the Bear Grylls and Jake Iceland Survivor experience, but there are some details in this fun piece of the hotel (Hotel Ranga) in which they stayed. Apparently, there is a stuffed polar bear in the lobby. I'm confused by the penguins and intimidated by the bearskins on the wall. Quite an experience and I must say that my ambition to go there is large. The photo below is from a previous suitably cool experience by Jake for Earth Day back in 2005.

So we celebrate 20 years of the first Jake's movie. Quite anniversary for a 30 years old guy.
I absolutely adore that interview with 11 years old Jake, his self confidence and sincerity about liking to be complemented is so charming. I think him and Billy Crystal created a good team. Young Jake was very natural as an actor. And very sweet as a child. It showed he liked what he was doing.
End of Watch - I like how they get ready and how they catch the feeling of police work and life. Attending that ceremony.
I believe that David Ayer - director of the movie - stands next to Jake on that picture.
In those fly-like glasses Jake already looks like a policeman :).
Hi Kate! How appropriate it is to celebrate the anniversary of City Slickers. It has provided 20 years of laughter for me and my family and is one of a handful of movies that I will always stop to watch when I'm flipping through the TV channels. Little Jake really was quite the actor and naturally charming to boot!
End of Watch is sure to be a very intense, realistic drama. I wonder how Jake's research for his role is coming? Attending the LAPD Medal of Honor ceremony is probably just the tip of the iceberg...
Speaking of icebergs, is there any word on when that episode of Man vs. Wild is supposed to air? It's hotter than Hades here and a little glimpse of some cold, icy snow might provide the illusion of relief from the heat and humidity. :)

Hi Susan! I enjoyed City Slickers years before Jake was grown up and it's funny thinking on that now! This ceremony is a real hint at what Jake's up to. I like that. It must be quite intense. No doubt er'll hear about it eventually. No word on the Man vs Wild yet... I envy your heat! Here summer is teasing us. Hot one day and cool the next.
That clip of Jake is just too cute. Everything he'll ever grew into was there already.

It's nice to see the behind the scene coming along on EOW. It just feels like its going to be an age before we see Jake in the cinema again:(

1. Hangover 2 - 1.000.000 tickets
2. PotC 4 - 470.000 tickets

Thanks for the figures, Mrs JG :) That's not too good at all. You have to wonder if the fact that SC has been released so late in Germany has hurt its numbers there. You expect something like Pirates to do really well but that was released at the same time around Europe - unlike SC, two months late. Hmmm.
What worries me more is Hangover 2 - that was the same weekend than SC. And their numbers are way over the top. Not that it's necessarily a bad movie (after all - Jake himself saw it), but less than 1 out of 10 movie goers decided for a brilliant sci-fi than for 4 drunks getting wasted...

That is a shame, Mrs JG. Maybe everyone in Germany skipped over the borders to see it in countries where it opened earlier ;) I do think a long delay in a release damages it.
Morning everyone! I'm having to shout as people are drilling outside my office door. A lot.
In Poland SC is on 10th place after 5 weeks. On the first is Hangover 2 of course and on second is PotC 4, just like in Germany.
Sequels have their audience, that's why I think they should make POP sequel. I bet much more people would see it since the beginning than POP1.
I guess one of the reasons SC is released so late in Germany - is dubbing. It takes time to do it well. I believe postponing premieres in other countries is a main reason to loose some audience.
When the movie is fresh in media, interviews etc, then it's always easier to make decision of watching it. The movies should be released in the same time everywhere! But maybe it's never enogh copies for that.
And certainly it should be avoided co-premiere with kids movies and with famous sequels . That's for sure.

The news season for Man VS Wild starts in July. so we'll have to keep our eyes peeled to see when Jake's ep airs
wow 20 years ago since City Slickers! I happen to like the shoulder thing, maybe it was a prelude to him getting POP (the casting director saw City Slickers and thought if he can pop his shoulder what else can he do (only kidding :P)

Hi there everyone! On the bus home after a screening of Super 8 ( it's not out here til August) and a taster of Transformers. Quite an evening! Earlier found a screening of Source Code in Leicester Square so grabbed the chance to see it again.

:) 143 is from the days of pagers. What interview was it that Jake was talking to Anne Hathaway about sending numbers from a pager as a message? Apparently "143" means "I Love You."
I never had a pager, so I had to Google it, but that's a pretty cool message.
