This not only meant that Avatar was out of the running by at least $5 billion, it also meant that Maggie could try out some dress options ahead of The Big Day on Sunday. A tweeter mentioned that they had saved the day by lending Maggie a safety pin for her dress. I would suggest that possibly one safety pin was not enough for the job.
Peter Sarsgaard was there to support Maggie and also to celebrate the success of An Education which won the Best Foreign Movie award.
Maggie presented Crazy Heart co-star Jeff Bridges with his Best Actor award. I hope Jeff has mammoth mantelpieces.
Brother Jake Gyllenhaal wasn't about at the ISAs although he has been spotted back in LA, where he is, no doubt as we speak, ironing his shirt in preparation for Sunday's Oscars. But Jake was a regular feature at the Independent Spirit Awards back in the mid Noughties, as befitting an actor who knows the definition of an Indie Movie.
The ISAs have seen Jake hobnob with an array of stars and co-stars. Here are a few of my personal favourites from these visits to the shining white marquis of Santa Monica. These pictures also demonstrate how Jake's hair length and his body language are directly related. And that he smells good.

ReplyDeleteI can happily report, based on personal experience, that my nose has been EXACTLY where Jennifer's nose is in that first picture and Jake does indeed smell good! *feels light headed at the memory* (per usual)

Hi BBMISwear :-) I caught up with some of the ISAs this morning - sounds like a lot of fun! A very tipsy affair :D OMG I feel lightheaded at you just describing it! I did fall against Jake's chest when in Toronto (a pap pushed me) but I was far too worried not to tread on his feet so I didn't sniff!

I think you look fine in any of the dresses I've seen you wear, WDW. ;-) I like the picture of Maggie hugging Jeff Bridges. She looks really happy for him. She looks beautiful, and doesn't need a fancy dress to be attractive. Her figure is flattered by simple dresses.

I saw the ISA last night and they were okay. It was nice to see Maggie and Peter and I always like the relaxed and fun way the awards are done. However as much as I like Eddie Izzard he wasn't a great host. His standup is much better.

Maggies dress makes me nervous just looking at it. It seems like a boob showing accident waiting to happen. :D

Apparently it's the same layout as lastime, were each nominee gets a presenter to say a little bit about them. So Jake may be chosen to say a little bit about Maggie :) This would be so good if it happened.

ReplyDeleteAnd I just wanted to give a thank you to those here who are always so kind to me about my experience with Jake! Overall everyone from the various forums have been so appreciative of Ted and I sharing the many details of our experience and I can't tell you the intense feeling we both got when we walked off that movie set that day, looked at each other and just decided right there and then we *had* to write down every single detail of what just happened and share it with Jake's biggest fans. There was just too much Jakeness that happened in those few hours to not let his real fans in on it! It always makes me feel good that even though people feel envious of us (and believe me, I get it, as I feel the same when I hear other fan's stories) they enjoy the details and thank us for sharing.
LOL at Olympia reading the part about nuzzling his neck twice! I go over that part in my head over and over again as it was so unexpected. I think he just felt bad for me because I literally would not put my hand out to shake hands and say goodbye so he pulled me into a hug and my face landed right in his neck. Oh the will power not to do more than nuzzle!!
Okay, I'm rambling...sorry! Once I get on this subject I find it hard to stop! Let's all keep our eyes peeled for LA sightings and pictures of our guy today before the big night!
