Jake out and about, just like us

It's been a while since we saw Jake Gyllenhaal - is he on a beach somewhere? In rehearsals or important meetings? Could he be learning lines even? But while we sit and wait for Jake to show up again, as he will, and wonder whether that will be with new sunglasses, new Nike or a shaven face, IHJ has pulled a rabbit out of the hat and given us some new old pictures which include these photographs that have caught my imagination, not least because I am probably not the only person here to have done exactly the same thing today!

I don't know why it is, but I love to see pictures of Jake doing something outside the world of Hollywood and movie promotion, that belongs instead in our world of the mundane. It just shows, every so often, if you look up while engaged in the most normal of everyday activities, you might just spot a familiar face at the cashpoint. Oh yes, and these were also taken in London (in March 2004) - another bonus.

Among the other new old photos are further pictures from 2004, which show Jake as the ever attentive boyfriend, carefully protecting his pale girl from the harsh LA rays, and photographs of a tired but cheerful Jake from May last year having lunch with his father Stephen in West Hollywood.

Finally, I'm unable to ignore these photographs of Jake arriving back at LAX in January this year. I think Jake is beautiful here. He looks tired, having just filmed SNL in NYC (the night before I believe), but he has 'Rendition Hair', albeit covered with another of Jake's strange gardening or landscaping caps.

Pictures from IHJ.

WDW, I so agree, I love seeing Jake doing everyday things. Although if I ever were to look up an see him out and about, I just might not believe my eyes. :) Yes, those LAX/landscaping hat pics, especially the one where he looks directly into the camera with that beautiful expression, are some of my favorites! Thanks again for more great pics.

Hi Marina - imagine seeing Jake at the next cashpoint... I do love seeing Jake doing exactly what I've been doing. And yes, those LAX pictures are very, very beautiful, partly I suppose as Jake seems so tired and a little distant. His eyes are stunning. It's always god to look at pictures of Jake when he's not around...

Thank you for posting these pics WDW :) It's nice to be reminded sometimes that Jake is only human like the rest of us!As a Londoner,I especially love the London pics. I was hoping there'd be some pics of him when he was here visiting Maggie, but it wasn't to be:(
There's loads of posters all over London at the moment advertising the Tour de France starting off here at the weekend and whenever I see one it always makes me think of Jake :)

Hi Twisted Logic

A fellow southern Brit! London pics have got to be special for us as they're so few and far between - alas. That brings back memories with the Tour de France - wouldn't it be great if Jake's involved with it again this year?

Lol WDW! That was the first thing that crossed my mind when I heard about the Tour starting in London, that Jake might be involved in some way. Wishful thinking I'm sure, unfortunately. To be honest, the way the weather is here at the moment, if I was Jake and had to choose between sunny LA and wet cold London, there wouldn't even be a choice to make. I'm keeping my fingers crossed he'll come over to do some promotion for Rendition, cos he didn't do much for Zodiac did he? Just a few interviews when he was here for the Baftas.
My dream scenario though would be that he does the Broadway play and gets bitten by the theatre bug and comes back to the West End for a spell! Jake live and in person and virtually on my doorstep = heaven :)

I share your dreams and wishes Twisted Logic. I'd love to see Jake here again. But the weather right now! Maybe he'd welcome the change from all that sunshine ;D

I do hope Jake does publicity over here for Rendition. I don't know whether it's a good sign or not that it's released on the same day in the UK as in the US.

Oh I hadn't thought about the release dates being the same. That sounds like it could make things tricky :( It might well end up being pre-recorded interviews in Venice as part of the overall coverage, like some of the interviews that he did in Cannes. that's kinda shot my aeroplane out of the sky :( I was hoping so much he would appear on Jonathan Ross's show cos I think Jake would totally get JR's humour and would quite possibly manage to get the better of him! That's just my opinion though, I know a lot of people can't stand JR.
Btw (I'm sorry to go on and on but I have to say thank you to Marina, for pointing out the Proof video on the other thread. I had no idea what you meant, so I started frantically searching the site and found out that the pics on the right are videos! I had no idea, I thought they were just pics *looking very embarrassed here* The Proof one isn't there now, but I love the ones that are, so thank you WDW for posting them and Marina for drawing my attention to them :)

I would love to see Jake on Jonathan Ross. I suppose we'll be very lucky to have Jake over here at all, but fingers crossed. Let's wait and see what happens that week.

The videos are good, aren't they. They repeat so they'll come round again. I'm glad they're being enjoyed - never enough Jake... (Gotta stop saying that :D) )

That's good advice, wait and see. sorry I sounded so pessimistic before. I blame this depressing weather!

The videos on the othe hand, aren't depressing at all! I'm so glad I discovered them, and I'm glad to hear there's more, yet another reason to love this site :)
As for never enough Jake well it's the truth, so why stop saying it. I hope you never decide that's enough Jake cos I love this site and always look forward to coming here when I put the computer on.

Well,I see that I have missed another nice conversation while I was stuck at work. Thanks for explaining what Jake was doing in the old pics from IHJ. I had no idea Jake was getting money since I have NEVER been to London and didn't recognize what the line was for. I am with you guys in loving the opportunity to see him doing everyday, mundane things like getting money from a cash machine, pumping gas, going to get a flat tire on his bike fixed, picking up a few things at the store. Well, he's gotta eat!

And Twistedlogic, I was a little late in discovering the videos also. One more treat for us.

This comment is for any and all of you people complaining about the rain you have had lately. I live in the blistering desert of Southern California 50 miles from the nearest ocean and we are expected to hit 110 degrees tomorrow. Believe me, I wish I was in a rain storm right now!

these are all such great Jake photos.... thanks, WDW!

I love the pic of laughing Jake with Poppa G.! It says something (good) about him that he can enjoy the company of a parent so much.

And that last photo at LAX..... I'm almost speechless. I believe I have mentioned in previous posts how much I love his arms. Who am I kidding? It's the whole package. Jake brings to mind our ultimate high school compliment....... "he has a body that just won't quit!"

Lastly, as it is the 4th of July eve here in the good ole U.S.A., I must confess to all you Brits that more than once I have thought that we should have just remained a member of the Empire.... or is it Commonwealth? Maybe we would be a more civilized country. But, I'm something of an unrepentant Anglophile, so I'm not objective.

Me too, Birdie! And they certainly know a good thing when they see one, such as giving Jake a BAFTA! :)

Also, as far as the video clips, I'm more than happy to have helped everyone find and enjoy them! :)

Happy 4th July to all of you in the USA!!

Birdie and Marina - we should set up the Jake Commonwealth :D I am very proud of the love that Jake gets in the UK and I hope he has happy feelings about the place.

Hey Dani - I wouldn't mind some of your weather. We had hail yesterday and it looked like Christmas. Wimbledon's never going to finish at this rate...

I'm with you on wanting to see pictures of Jake doing all these everyday things. That's also why I liked that bit in the GQ interview when Jake revealed what he kept in the boot/trunk of his car. Little glimpses of Jake.

I think you should come over and experience some London weather for yourself .... ;D

Thanks so much Twisted Logic - too much Jake is an impossibility :D

March 2004 huh? I was still living and working in London then and could have queued up behind Jake in that line and passed him in the street and I wouldn't have had a clue who he was!! Hard to imagine - wouldn't happen now that's for sure. :D

Happy 4th July to our American friends.

Ah, love these pics of Jake doing ordinary things. Yet we know he hangs with celebs and ex presidents (the Gyllenhaal's hung with the Clinton's last summer on MV and have hung with them in the past), but is so grounded that he seems like all of us doing our usual things. I love that about him. :)

On another note, I am a bit confusted about what people are talking about with interviews. I see a link in a previous post to Jake and Matt Lauer about TDAT, but I don't see any others. Am I missing something?

Again, WDW, LOVE this blog, your commentary/postings and the great people posting here!

The cashpoint pics are new favourites! Thanks WDW xx

And Happy 4th of July to all those in the US!

Hey Ruby - I thought maybe that was you I could see in the line in front of Jake....

It's a strange feeling that Jake can be among us and we might not spot him - surely not now! In all these recent LAX pics, Jake just stands out in a crowd.

Anouska from London - I thought you'd like those ;D

Hi Get Real The other videos people are referring to are in the side bar on the main page. They switch around but there are some goodies there. I'm glad you're liking the blog - I love the posters here too.

By the way, I saw the Clintons once in a supermarket and Bill gave me a hug - I'll take that as a connection to Jake ;D
