Jake - if a striptease would work, I'd do it - and stunning Jarhead stills

The story of Jake Gyllenhaal's organic foodie venture is gathering pace across the world's media, perhaps not surprisingly; Jake and food are a heady combination, especially when mixed with a bottle of Italian red and some californian sunshine. The rumour has caught the eye of the UK's Independent, which suggests that the venture will open this winter. The article's mention of London's classiest breakfast venue also caught the attention of my palate.

Jake once said to the magazine Bravo Girl that the best way to a girl's heart was through natural ingredients. While I won't argue that natural ingredients are a bonus in a relationship, they're not a vital element in a date with Jake Gyllenhaal.

My German is limited to words that describe archaeological stratigraphy and artefacts, but what I think Jake is saying here is that women are much better at making the first move and can get through the opening chatup sentence without stuttering. Jake also says that 'sincerity is sexy. If I wanted to know a girl I would show her my true face.' However, Jake goes on to say that 'If I have the impression that a striptease could work, I would do that too.' A first date would comprise 'a lot of fresh pasta, delicious vegetables and corn salad with tomatoes.' I'm not sure if that's with or without the striptease.

Talking of food - a perennial favourite chez Wet Dark and Wild - Jake and Reese were spotted this weekend by lucky blogger Kath in Charleston, South Carolina, at Hominy Grill. I'm a southern Englander and, as such, unused to this type of fare and once I accidentally ate grits thinking it was mashed potato. Meanwhile, Jake's co-star Jessica Biel has headed back to New York City for the weekend break from filming looking absolutely shattered. I hope she gets a good rest.

Nailed is due to begin filming again tomorrow on the steps of the Statehouse in Columbia (according to a poster on IMDb whose relative is an extra). Nicole is on the case! Good luck!

New Jarhead stills

A huge thanks to IHJ for these magnificent stills from Jarhead - absolutely stunning.

Here I am, with another shot at the first reply to WDW's post!

Some things stood out as I read:

--The corn and tomato salad that Jake would fix for his date. I've learned to make a lot of different kinds of salad in the last year, but I never got to make one with corn and tomatoes. I must get to work on that....

--Last night I dreamed that "Brothers" came to my theater, and I watched it. But I can't talk about my dream, because of spoilers. ;-)

Hi Paul! Good to see you :D I've never used corn in a salad so this all sounds new to me but otherwise sounds like a great opening date mean. Thanks for not telling us about the spoilers in your dream ;D I've had some Brothers dreas myself - but they were all behind the scenes :D

OMG! Jess looks awful! And why do actors get time off on weekends to go home and deal with their terrifying personal lives. anyway? If I were a diretor I would absolutely forbid it!

Corn and tomatoe salad - you need of course FRESH corn hours from the field and REAL tomatoes -

Good summer veggies on the vineyard - Chris and Jake are spoiled! also with fresh fish. if you live in Chilmark you differentiate between harpoon caught and line caught swordfish for heavens sake!

I hear Jake and Reese were seen in Charleston. Bet there are GREAT restaurants in Charleston. Hey, Chris, where are you?

p.s. if a stiptease would work, he'd do it? the lil son uv a gun has been doin' it for how many years? Jake, yoo hoo, it works.

Hey Pia :D I was a bit alarmed when I saw those pics of Jessica - I hope she's OK and gets a rest - I think we're all allowed time off at the weekends, aren't we?! Charleston is one of those places I've always wanted to go to. Yep, the striptease is a winner - carry on :D

BirdGirl said...

STRIPTEASE? You have my attention.

Ya, ya that defiantly works.

I miss Chris. I am sure we will be seeing more of him this summer.

Charleston does seem like it would be a good place to visit. One of those beautiful old southern cities. Road trip anyone?

I hope you are all having a relaxing Sunday. Mine is terribly exciting. I am doing laundry. :)

Hey, WDW - if I were director I would not give my actors weekends off. I note that Peter retains his accent. And apparently DDLewis stays "in character" - Maggie said she kept in characer with her Sherrybaby person nonstop.

Nicole! - give me some inside info, here! how do these guys do it?

if I ever saw Jake lookin' as devastated as Jess I would . . . what would I do? ????

corn and tomato salad... that sounds quite nice! I'll add red onion and have it in salt, olive oil and oregano only. OK, maybe some feta cheese too :)

I am quite excited about the possible restaurant... does anyone has any idea about the name?

omg... Jake's eyes look HUUUGGGGGEEEE in those jarhead stills. stunning.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Bird Girl :D Count me in on the road trip! My Sunday's been a bit rubbish but it's mellowing out nicely now :)

Hi Pia - I would not have wanted to stay in the skin of Maggie's Sherry, that's for sure - what a job she did with that, incredible. I hope Jessica is ok.

Hey Winterbird - I just can't imagine corn in a salad. I can't imagine corn at all, I s'pose! I'm sticking with J&Cs for the restaurant :D Those Jarhead stills are stunning - I can't stop looking at them.

actually I did have a salad with corn in it in US... I think there were also eggs and slices of ham and they put some "thousand island" sauce on top of it... and I lost my appetite... but I think Jake's version would be better - hey, I'll eat a whole jar of thousand island sauce if Jake serves it to me :)

J&C's???? omg.... lol... how about "no cilantro"?

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Ooh, that sounds revolting, Winterbird, but yes I'd eat Jake's version - I bet it'd be delicious and then I could settle down for the striptease... I'm waiting for the J&C cookbook :D

Hey c'mon you guys! fresh corn outta the field? heaven! also, cough cough, silantro -just got a pot of the herb, and Ive been nibbling on it - its delish. who said Jake hates cilantrao, I dont believe it. CHRIS wheree are ya, boy?

in New England corn chowder is the next best thing to fish chowder.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Pia :D We need Jake and Chris to teach us Brits about corn, and in return we can rustle up some bread and butter pudding, spotted dick and bangers and mash :D What a trade!

Anonymous said...

watch it, Brits, you're messin' with sacred history! - New England clambake: lobster, mussels, quoahogs, and corn on the cob! steamed in seaweed! lottsa melted butter!

In case you're wondering, that loud thud you just heard was me falling off my chair at the sight of those Jarhead pics;) Love 'em, thank you so much!! I might be back later when I'm capable of coherent(ish) speech.

I think Jessica looks like a normal person would if they've been working hard and had a delayed flight. We are just so used to seeing uber-styled, airbrushed pics of actresses we expect them to look great all the time. It's not really fair. :/

Jake is such a tease, with his talk of cooking and stripping :D

Thanks for the post WDW. I love those Swoff pics.

I did see Iron Man today, but I won't say a word. :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Pia sounds good, but what on earth is a quoahog? Sounds like something out of Harry Potter...

Hi TL! I thought you'd like those - aren't they amazing? The look in jake's eyes, and Peter looks damn fine too :D

Hey Ruby :D I didn't get to see Iron Man today after all, it'll have to be tomorrow now. I hope you liked it. Jake is a tease and I love it!

Ruby said...

I will just say one thing:

I love Robert Downey Jnr. :D

Anonymous said...

Jake a tease, I thot I read "taste" - that, too.

Iron Man did very well at box office. NYT says thanx to RDJ. Yay!

Quoahog is an ordinary clam. Tough but tasty. A "chowder clam".

hey everyone! i'm all set for tomorrow..I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be successful! I would love to get a picture with jake if it is at all possible..that would be awesome! but I'm also taking my sharpie if he wants to do an autograph..i don't want to bug him..i'm going to try to be cool and calm..haha who am i kidding..i almost had a heartattack last time! I was thinking of just stuffing my favorite jake dvd in my purse just in case..but I don't know which one to take because i love them all..

Wet Dark and Wild said...

I'm having some technical difficulties this evening so if you hear a loud bang that's me hitting my PC with a hammer while profusely swearing...

Hey Ruby, I know you do (me too :D) and I can remember your whooping to prove it, and now a sizeable part of the nation have heard it too :D

Hi Pia! I love to see RDJ getting such great reviews, on both sides of the pond too. I love clams, but never had chowder, I think because I find the word 'chowder' scary.

Best of luck, Nicole!! I'd go fully prepared, just in case :D From experience, I can assure you that the second time you see Jake is no less earthshattering than the first! You are so lucky - enjoy every minute of having Jake in your town :D Good luck and I can't wait to hear how you get on!

I should turn in while the going is good, computerwise. Have a good night everyone!

good lord "chowder" not as scary as spotted dick and bangers.

oh well

g'nite WDW and peeps across the pond. Im tuckin' in early, m'self.

sweet dreams and sweet stalkin', Nicole!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Night Pia :D We could make a menu out of dishes with scary sounding names and then get J&Cs to rustle 'em up :) All desserts served with custard of course. It's one in the morning and now I'm feeling hungry again..

Night all :D

I would probably put a little cumin in a corn and tomato salad. Yes, a cheese like feta or mozzarella woujld be good to add, too.

I've been thinking about WDW's trips to Jake country. How much more satisfying it would be for Jake to have his own restaurant, which you could eat at. Maybe Jake would appear there regularly.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Morning everyone and a happy May Day holiday to all those who get one :D It's a good day for ducks out there today...

Hi Paul - that's a great idea! At least it would make it easy deciding where to eat each day. And I'm great at doing the dishes if they need any help :D

Have a good day everyone :)

Xenia said...

Hey WDW and everyone! :)

Jake, I've had fresh and natural ingredients all my life so I'd rather have a striptease from you, thanks...;)

Have agreat day y'all and, of course, good luck Nicole!! :)

Hello, Wet Dark!
I found this blog that makes gastronomic praise for chef Chris Fischer:

"Our thanks, too, to the exceptionally talented Chris Fischer and pastry chef Gina DePalma for making last night's dinner so unforgettably delicious.

Chris shows himself to be equally adept at pasta, fish, and meat - not to mention vegetables. We were stunned (as it's not the kind of dish we typically rave about) to encounter the single best potato salad we've ever tasted in our lives: the "Spring Salad" that's a medley of tiny flavor-packed potatoes straight from the Union Square Greenmarket served over Pecorino with a liberal drizzle of olive oil. We were also blown away by everything from the bass with grilled fruits to the porcini-crusted steak. At 26, Chris Fischer is definitely a young talent worth keeping an eye on. "

Out on a Brazilian website:
"You are moving the network from a supposed Yesterday Teaser Poster adaptation of the Game Prince of Persia, check below.
I think we will get confirmation soon, but until then, enjoy! "

Hithre everyone :D The day got hot and sunny - perfect. Although I spent all afternoon in a dark busy cinema thoroughly enjoying Iron Man!! First Superhero movie I've ever seen and I reckon I picked a goodie. Good job RDJ!

Hi Xenia :D I'll agree with you about the striptease - natural ingredients can be had any day of the week :D Hpe you're having a lovely day.

Hi Monica! Thanks so much for the links - and how great to see so much praise for Chris. And now I'm feeling hungry again - I came back from the pictures with half a carton of popcorn, a pizza and a bottle of Californian red :D

Good afternoon all,

I am glad to hear that you enjoyed Iron Man WDW. I am afraid I will have to wait until it comes out on dvd for my funds are short right now.

Quoahog, isn't that where the Griffins live on Family Guy? :) I guess it would make since that it is a chowder because the show is suppose to take place in New England.

Corn salad it pretty nasty. My mom makes it sometimes. I guess I would be willing to give it another try if Jake and Chris made it.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Bird Girl! I thoroughly enjoyed it - Robert was so handsome in it too. And yet he also looked so much like Avery with hair/beard so a bit odd :D A good script.

If Jake and Chris serve me corn salad I'd eat it - I'd even eat artichokes for them - that's a real sacrifice :D
