I almost feel like Jake's PR people are sitting around thinking that there just hasn't been enough 'professional' news on our guy Jake lately...let's get some rumours out there...let's just start listing movies randomly to get things stirred up out there! (And drive his fans crazy in the process...LOL)!
As for the movie itself...back in the 80's (while in my 20's) I spent a lot of time at typical 80's hair band rock concerts (i.e. Bon Jovi!!)...this would be a fun role to see Jake in for sure. But I think if I had my choice there are others I would prefer over this one.
Time will tell...keep the rumours coming my friend! :-)
OMG - I happened to see something on this in the Arts section of the paper the other day, and I have to admit I thought it sounded great! Jake singing 80s arena rock? I'd love it! Sounds like a lot of fun. Love the part for the female singer too, wonder who it will be? :)

Hey BBMISwear! I know! I'm just hoping that out of all this some film will get made this year :D I'd definitely prefer the Anne Hathaway project to Rock of Ages. I like musicals but OMG this is so not my sort of music! I suppose Jake would have a lot of fun though, a lot. I was a New Romantic Moody Teenage Goth in the 80s - oh blimey - thank heavens there are no pics... This could be one movie I'd have to see with earplugs. But I love all the rumous! Love to hear Jake the actor being talked about :-)

One speculation after another. Whilst it's great to see Jake's name in the news, I wish there was something concrete though.
As a major fan of musicals, I like the idea of this one. But I don't think I like this one for Jake. In fact I'm not sure whether Zac Efron could pull it off either. It has a rocking soundtrack though.
I think there was a picture some months back of Zac and Vanessa Hudgens at this musical in New York. Maybe he was putting in the research:)
I am really hoping that the movie with Anne is going ahead. I saw another article on that again this morning on a website called www.ioncinema.com.
Err... I actually rather liked Whitesnakes! LOL... and I think Jon Bon Jovi was great in the mid-80s... I guess it will be quite fun to see Jake in a mullet. He will still look hot!

This seems like a weird project for Jake. And he's in competition with Zack Efron for this role ?! That makes me nervous, I don't see them in the same category of actors at all. But I see how this could be fun for Jake. And I looked at the musical's Wiki page and the music is great.
Rumors are fun but I really hope for solid news that Jake is gonna shoot something this year. With the delays he has us used to, he needs to shoot something in 2009 if we want to see it in 2011. * rolls eyes *

The soundtrack is great, isn't it? I loved all kinds of music in the 80's, a little bit of everything, but big, symphonic, anthem arena rock is definitely one of them. Journey was it for me; Steve Perry's voice was so powerful and had so much range. I also loved Foreigner and Whitesnake, REO Speedwagon, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Asia, etc. This would be great fun for all, and Jake would be hot as a musician from that era. :)
