The Armstrong Biopic gets a push but Jake's leghair could be safe

This evening was my first experience of spin cycling - ie cycling like a creature possessed while going absolutely nowhere. Obviously, this now qualifies me as an expert on all biking matters. Just as well, then, that it's today that we get a long, long overdue update on that project that has hung around Jake Gyllenhaal like a cloud of mosquitoes for a good three years or so - The Lance Armstrong Biopic.

The Frank Marshall/Kathleen Kennedy production now has a writer, Gary Sea Biscuit Ross 'and could shoot as early as next year, according to producer Frank Marshall.' Lance Armstrong's comeback this year has given the project a bit of a kick up the bum. Jake and Matt Damon have both been associated with the lead role - hardly surprisingly since Jake spent much of 2006 cyccling round the hills of Malibu with Lance, not to mention scaling the odd Alp. But this news comes at a time when Jake has been attached to almost every movie in production during the next year and so new candidates are being suggested, such as Robert Pattinson and Chris Pine.

I always had the feeling that this was a role Jake would personally have relished, the subject even popped up during Rendition promotion. Jake's love for cycling is not in doubt, nor is his extensive wardrobe of matching spandex and arm warmers, many of which carry the yellow and black of LiveStrong.

Jake has even taken that one extra step - I'm sure we all remember our consternation when Jake emerged with shiny, bald legs. Our preoccupation with Jake's hair is extensive. For now, at least, Jake's legs are safe - a compensation, perhaps, for the worrying possibility of a mullet on the horizon.

Hmmm... I am a bit ambivalent about Jake doing the Lance Armstrong biopic. Mainly because it doesn't seem like a strong project and playing someone famous and still alive is kind of strange... but of course, I am happy to see Jake in almost anything by now :)

Robert Pattison? ha. good luck to them. I watched him in Little Ashes and I already put him into "actors I shouldn't watch again unless the film has Jake in it" category.

Hey there Winterbird! I'm with you on that - I admire Armstrong and I can see why Jake would want to do it, but it doesn't seem like a good idea to me. The whole focus of this is Lance Armstrong - you don't need a famous name for that.

I love your Robert Pattinson film actor category! I agree, I've only seen him in Twilight, which was fun, but not much more than a teen movie. I much prefer Chris Pine!

But yeah, I'll take Jake in anything right now too (well, so long as there's no mullet...)

Good night, wet dark!

I hope not!

Robert Pattison is very very very bad and very ugly.
I don't know the talent of Chris Pine, because I don't like Star Trek. But he's cute!

I must confess I'm not too keen on this project either. Whilst I admire Lance Armstrong fighting cancer and Tour de France success I don't think I would go to the movies to see this. If it does happen it will probably be an unknown in the role.

Interesting comments about Robert Pattinson. I've yet to hear him being interviewed or see any of his movies. I will have to rent Twilight because I'm sick of hearing about it:)

Have a good Friday everyone and maybe we might get some pics today:)

Morning everyone! Friday at last :D

Hi Monica :D I get the impression you don't like Robert! Chris Pine is rather yum though.

Morning Carol :D I'm not sure I would see it either, not being a fan of sport biopics at the best of times. I saw Twilight in the end and I did enjoy it more than I thought - lovely scenery :D Pics would be great today... sigh...

Have a good day everyone!

Hey...if we don't have a bunch of "Jake Gyllenhaal 'might' be in this movie" rumors to talk about then we can at least talk about the "Jake Gyllenhaal 'once' was maybe going to be in this movie" rumors...LOL! I think the press just likes to throw his name around a lot! And who wouldn't?!

I never thought this movie was really going to come together...now it seems it is. I think Jake would be great in this role and would probably enjoy doing it. But I just don't see it happening either.

Movie rumors are nice...but where are the pictures?!?

*tries to be patient*

Have a good day everyone!

It can take years for most movie projects to come together as I understand it. I wonder if Matthew McConnaughey is still going to be one of the producers for Lance's movie. I am not even a tiny bit excited about it, anyway.

I do like talking about Jake's rumored projects, whatever they are. (Plus, now he's doing the movie with Anne Hathaway, her character has Parkinson's disease, and if Jake did Lance's movie he would deal with cancer. It really brings me down just thinking of it. I like movies that inspire, but I mostly like movies for escape!)

Maybe he is in London to meet about doing a play! How sweet that would be. Wasn't there some talk of it last year when he was here working on PoP?

A play would be GREAT (but I have to admit I would prefer it to be in New York vs. London...for personal reasons...LOL)!! Maybe he can do both?! He was in talks to do a play called Farragut North in the fall of 2007 but it didn't come together. There was some long story about the play being made into a movie and there was the book that Jake told the play director about but he didn't remember and then asked Jake why he didn't tell him and he told him he did! A lot of confusion and in the end the movies came rolling in and there was no time for theater. He said he would 'definitely' be doing theater again someday. From his lips to a freaked-out-about-to-pass-out girl's ears...LOL!!

Hi Flower! Looking great :D

Hi there Anon :) I love this!: 'I like movies that inspire, but I mostly like movies for escape!' Me too - we're lucky that in Jake we have the two. I think Jake has made me a more appreciative film goer for that very reason :D

Oh a play would be fabulous :D

Hey BBMISwear :-) Oh the Farragut North saga. As with so many things, our hopes are lited then they're crushed - we've got used to this now. I like that Love and Other Drugs has a date for starting. I want dates.
