Jake Gyllenhaal in Notting Hill?!

I remember the days when, if something exciting happened, one would spread it around by phone and text, and, dare I say, by letter? Those days are gone. Now, instead of texting your news to a small group of friends, you can tweet it to the world. Of course, one can tweet what one likes, it doesn't have to be true, it could be a dream, a dollop of wishful thinking, but you just never know... And sometimes a trend emerges. Last week, twitter was buzzing with sightings of Jake Gyllenhaal in NYC, and this did indeed prove true, and today Twitter puts Jake in Notting Hill, London.

Jake has been observed, if it is true, indulging in his usual behaviour patterns: drinking coffee in the window of the 'very, very upmarket deli/lifeshop' Daylesfords on Westbourne Grove: 'Just had moment of Notting Hill madness, Jake Gyllennhal & the Mum from the Royale Family in Daylesfords!!' (I'm presuming not together, but who knows!).

Another Twitter said: 'High point of the day: saw Jake Gyllenhall jogging. Low point of the day: tube strike starts tonight at 7 p.m.' I sympathise about the tube strike, but I reckon a jogging Jake is great compensation.

Let us hope that soon there will be confirmation one way or another (it's worth remembering that Maggie - probably with Peter and Ramona - is in London at the moment filming). In the meantime, it's a happy thought to have Jake in the same timezone.

Update from Twitter: A sighting of Jake in the Kensington Whole Foods! (This reminds me of the days I spent searching for rhinos in the Serengeti - no Twitter then, would have come in handy.)

Pictures from IHJ.

He went from my time zone to your time zone in one quick flight...whoowheee!

Keep those eyes, ears, and twitter alerts peeled!!

I want pictures! (Don't we always simply just want pictures)?!

What's going on in your neck of the woods right now? Is Maggie still over there?

Hey BBMISwear! It's very exciting - it's like handing over a Jake torch :-) I just amended the post because I remembered that Maggie and (I believe) the family is over here at the moment. I always think that when Jake's here it could be PoP related but he does like Notting Hill and it's possible Maggie is in that area/Holland Park... I want pictures! Let's hope we hear more soon :-D

Hi everyone :))
AAhhh Jake and Kirsten they were cute but i never knew real reason why they broke up, many people hate her i don't know why. I would appreciate if someone give me answer. :))
Still love Jake and i am so glad that he find his happiness with Reese.

xoxo to all..
Must prepare for work grrrr..

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Flower! When I hear of Jake in Westbourne Grove it always makes me think of the pics with Jake and Kirsten :D

I hope everyone's having a good evening :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

I've updated the post and will do as more sightings come in!

it would make sense if Jake is on vacation for a while that he might go to NY (maybe that was on business since someone mentioned he was having lunch or dinner with some businessmen? maybe some meeting about his next role?)
and then taking a trip to London to visit with his sister.

Hi Sweetpea :D It's very nice to think of Jake spending some time with Maggie and hopefully Peter and Ramona too in London!

Monica said...

Good night, wet dark!
Maybe he has turned to redo some scenes of POP? His hair is big!

many people hate her i don't know why. I would appreciate if someone give me answer.

I don't like her because she's a terrible actress.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Monica! London will always be associated with PoP for me too. I'm a big Kirsten fan - I think she's a tremendous actress. Marie Antoinette is in my top ten movies. We all like different things but have Jake in common :D

Monica said...

Someone posted a link to some photos of her with Jake (novel to me) on IHJ.

You see?

Wet Dark and Wild said...

I did see those Monica, they're great :D I'd seen some of them before, but not all.

Monica said...

Twitter: Saw Jake Gyllenhaal & Sue Johnson, not together but in same shop at same time, all rather thrilling!

High Hopes said...

I hope Jake goes into a clothing store and tries on underwear and the person observing him via the dressing room security camera has the time and faculties to do a play-by-play twitter accompanied by pictures and vid. *prays*

Nit-Twit said...

Helpful Twitter Jake sighting linking hints. Its fine to link the sighter's Twitter page but remember it's always being updated, so the Jake entry (we should be so lucky, ahem) could be anywhere (again we should be so lucky). To show the sighting alone (or vice versa, the user's page if you're on the single entry) just click on the timestamp and it will navigate. So if you link the actual Twitter entry it's easier to find especially after a lot of time has passed.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Good morning everyone!

Hi Monica! It really is funny. I wonder what Sue thougt, if she saw Jake there :D

Excellent idea, High Hopes! If Jake wants to try on t-shirts in shop windows, he should be encouraged to do that...

Thanks Nit Wit! I'm a Twitter Dunce and find the whole thing extremely strange :D But very entertaining. Thanks for the tips :D

Have a good day everyone! Keep your eyes peeled....

Nit-Twit said...

I just discovered my way around twitter myself. Who would have thought that clicking the timestamp i.e. "2 hours ago" on an entry makes it navigate?! WDW I hope I didn't sound bossy in my last comment with the hints. I just want your posts and links to have longevity so when you and I are married to Jake we can have something to do in the afternoons while we have tea and he's taking his nap.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Nit-Twit! No, you were really helpful and I appreciate the tips - I had no idea about the timestamp. I love the idea of us drinking tea while Jake takes his nap :)

I must apologise to Jake on behalf of the British weather....

Wet Dark and Wild said...

PS I also apologise to Jake for the tube strike....

winterbird said...

I need some advice to get a new handbag, maybe Jake could accompany me to Harvey Niks this afternoon? then we could do high tea at the Ritz...

Jake's visiting is great, since it permits rediscovery of those little details that definitely improve our quality of life: Young lady tweeted she went to The Commander pub last night, did not find Jake, but did find a a waiter so gorgeous "he made me weep." Said waiter could develop a following n'est pas?

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Have a lovely afternoon shopping with Jake, Winterbird! I hope he carries a big umbrella for two :D

Hi Anon :D The whole thing is just so funny. But... The Commander is a mighty fine pub, and clearly not just for its ales and grub!

Carol said...

I like the fact that Jake is in our time zone at the moment:)

I think it was Kirstie Allsop that twittered about seeing him and Sue Johnston in the same shop. Hopefully some pictures will start to emerge soon. London where have all your cameras gone?

Thanks for posting some old pics with Kirsten WDW. She is a favourite of mine aswell. I think she gets a really undeserved hard time in the press. My favourite movie of hers is Elizabethtown. I think she plays a really cool character in the movie and I love the roadtrip in a box idea aswell:)

Have a great day and all those in London keep your eyes peeled for the rest of us.

Mother Goose said...

Winterbird: That beautiful man and you would keep his eyes open and waste his lips on a teacup?! Someone needs to give you a good pluck.

Kiss the Waiter and Tell said...

Sooo tell us WDW, how are the The Commander's broom closets, roomy enough?!

Anonymous said...

Not all of us are Londoners, you know. I think Jake would be very happy in the countryside. Rest assured I would do all that I can for him.

Dr Dr said...

I remember Kirsten when she played Charlie in ER. She and George Clooney had a lot of chemistry. I would love to see them make a movie together!

Anonymous said...

And too much drinking goes on in those London pubs. Fresh air would suit him better. He does love sheep.

Carol said...

How about some Irish fresh air:)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi there everyone! I can't keep up with you :D Maybe we should relocate to the Commanders - but someone else will have to get the rounds in as I'm skint...

Hopefully, cameras are being bought and polished across London as we speak, Carol! Good to see another Kirsten fan, and you too Dr Dr :D

Jake would love the countryside, Anon! And the pubs are even better there :D It's good to know Maggie is in Edinburgh soon - I wonder if Jake ever gets to see parts of Britain outside the M25...

Big thunder storm here - aarrrggghh!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Maybe Brothers and Sheridan will take him there, Carol!

get real said...

So, seems Jake could very well be in London! Lucky UKers. ;) I hope after all the Tweets someone here does see him in person! :p

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Me too, Get Real! But judging by this stormy weather, he'll be better off sitting in front of the TV!

Ruby said...

"He went from my time zone to your time zone in one quick flight...whoowheee!"

You see how quick and easy it is? :D

I doubt the tube strike is bothering Jake that much. I can't him crowding onto a central Line train somehow, pleasant though that might be for the other passengers. ;-)

Kistie Allsop huh? She could offer to find him a nice house in town. :)

Carol said...

That's what I'm hoping for. The film has a very Irish connection with Jim and U2 being involved in the soundtrack. I have my fingers crossed:)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Rubes! Ahhhh, the penny drops! I am a bit slow... :D I didn't associate that Kirstie Allsop with theeeee Kirstie Allsop! She could definitely help with how to create the perfect study whilst not compromising on the number of bedrooms... Jake has mentioned before that he likes the Tube - he must have been on it at 3pm on Sundays during a major sporting event.

pickledherring said...

Which studio did Jake film his Prince of Persia scenes. I have a hunch he was in town for something related to that. I noticed his hair being longer in the NYC pictures and now, with the trip to London, it makes sense. Mightpeople have a better chance with him if we focus on the studio?

I agree. I think it is very likely Jake will go to Ireland for the Irish opening of Brothers because of Sheridan.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

I have my fingers crossed for you too, Carol :D

Hi Pickled Herring (I'm trying to think what pub might serve that!):) PoP was filmed at Pinewood, which is just to the north of London in Bucks. There's nothing to see there at all, I'm afraid, it's completely closed. It is definitely possible there's PoP business to do - and it's good if this can be combined with a visit to Maggie. Not that Jake ever needs an excuse to visit London :D

paulh said...

I guess I won't be able to bump into Jake unless he films a movie in or around Boston. :-(

I probably have a very long wait...

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Paul :D I hope there comes a day when Jake does film in Boston. I've heard it's beautiful and I would love to go.

BBMISwear said...

Ruby...you are so funny...calling me out on my own admittance that my time zone to yours and WDW's (and many others here) is a quick flight! Someday...I Swear. And all this "Pub" talk is making me want to be there even more!

WDW...pack your bag and get to Boston right now! (Oh, wait a minute, maybe wait until Jake leaves your area...you don't want to miss him if a chance meeting comes up)!

PaulH lives in the Boston area?!

Hey, Jake did come close to filming in Boston when the location scouts were considering the area for Brothers (for the non-desert scenes). I read that Jim S. loves the area (I'm not surprised since South Boston is the closest thing to Ireland he is going to find in the States!!) and the whole crew was hoping for it but New Mexico won out because they could film both suburban scenes and desert/war scenes in the same state. Connecticut and South Carolina were neck and neck for Nailed as both have state buildings that can "pass" for Washington, D.C. - but SC won out. And, of course, Moonlight Mile was filmed in Mass - but before I was smart enough to go look for him. :(

Where are the Londoners with cameras?!?!

:-)

Flower said...

Hi everyone :))
Still discussing about time zone :))
Jake is truly Sag he loves travel more than anything.. London, Paris, Madrid and Morocco. His bags and passport are always ready.
God i wish i could be in one of these bags.. i am so tiny :)))

Anonymous said...

The fact he went grocery shopping means he is either staying on his own or with Maggie and not in a hotel. I'd guess on his own, since she's working. And he will likely be around for a few days. One does not usually grocery shop if one is staying in a hotel for a short turn around. So look sharp! :)

Anonymous said...

Just wanted to add that if you think of good places for jogging you are likely to see him. This would mean you would have to not work at a job so you can properly engage in watchful waiting...:)

TD said...

Hi WDW, wow, things are happening!! I dont tweet so I didn't know Jake was here - I work v near Ken High and I have a small admission: its possible, just, that I walked right past Jake on my way home from work yesterday. I also thought I saw Maggie, just before, but wrote it off as ridiculous. Thing is, I'm simply terrible at recognising people...If it was Jake he was both thinner and taller than I would have thought, however, the hair would be exactly right. Whoever he was was wearing black sweats with a red and white stripe down the leg. And he was good looking, thats fer sure.

I have now charged my camera phone, and am armed for work tomorrow. I'm also going to ask a friend of mine who lives in Notting hill to keep an eye out for him.

I apologise to all Gyllenhaalics for being so slow off the mark. However I should warn you that it is ME I see drinking tea and checking links, while Jake has his nap...;-D

PS: Greetings to BBMISwear!

BBMISwear said...

TD!! There you are!! :-)

(Note to WDW: I corresponded with TD on LJ recently and she told me she's seen me on WDW and would say Hi next time...what a wonderful, happy, cozy, Gyllenhaalic world we have here, huh)?!

You make me laugh at "it's possible" that you walked by Jake yesterday?! Well the outfit sounds like possible Jake attire and I will say that when I met him I immediately noticed how thin he was...and this was while he was starting to bulk up for PoP!! Not thin in a "too thin" way but in a very tight, fit, trim, toned sort of way. Dare I say PERFECT?! (Now that my mind has gone in that direction I'm not sure if I can concentrate on anything else...guess I should call it a day)! So based on what you said, TD, that could have been him. Get that camera out and eyes peeled!

*waits for more sightings and possible sightings and pictures*

TD said...

Hi BBMISwear, and WDW! Well met!

After I posted I went back to the pics in WDW's post (as ya' do) and I noticed his sweatpants in those pics also red and white stripes, but one I saw definitely not the same - v. black pants and red stripe was v thin. But is possible I'm very mistaken. Eyes and spies peeled. Oooooh what fun this all is!

paulh said...

I'd have to not work at a job so I could be free for watchful waiting? But if I did that, how would I afford tickets to Jake's movies? :-(

(Or anybody else's movies ;-).)

Anyway, enjoy your Jake sightings while he's in London, and maybe he'll come back to Massachusetts someday--preferably after I retire...

Anonymous said...

Paulh, aren't you the lucky guy who got to sit besides Jake at one of Stephen's reading? I was so jealous of you that day and was amazed by how cool you were, it was very impressive! :)

This game of spot the Jake is really fun, at least this time we know in what country to look! :D

Hi there everyone! Been out with Ruby to eat the biggest pizza I've seen in my life. It may take me a month to recover and that's not counting the Chocolate Glory... Apologies for the resulting lack of post this evening.

First off - OMG TD! That is so exciting! He certainly could have been Jake. I remember once, in Toronto, I saw someone and I couldn't quite be sure and it was so exciting! I've seen Maggie and she's not so easy to recognise in the street. Just keep your eyes open and your hopes high and enjoy it!

Hey BBMISwear :-) I suppose Boston must be that little bit more expensive to film in - it's a shame as Mass. in MMile looked so beautiful - my kind of scenery.

Hi Flower :)

Hey there Anon :D I wouldn't be surprised if Jake is staying with Maggie - she also likes north London. Jake can do the cooking :D But the weather's been so bad today... bad for sightings.

Hi Paul :D So true - spotting Jake while trying to work is not a good combo...

Hey there Olympia! Paul was a fine representative for the Gyllenhaalics when he was at the MV reading. Spot the Jake is a huge amount of fun!

anouska said...

Hey WDW, I'm back from travelling and have just demolished a pizza myself, so glad you and Rubes enjoyed yours!

So Jake is back in the Wen? Hmmm. I couldn't feel his presence ... have walked round Whole Foods quite an embarrassing number of times looking for him so if I saw him, Sue Johnston and Kirstie Allsopp it might be too much for me.

Nite WDW xx

Carol said...

Evening all. I have just been out for a meal this evening too and am now completely stuffed. Got slightly carried away with the drinks and forgot it's only Wednesday - so work is not going to be pleasant tomorrow:(

TD you will have to keep your eyes peeled tomorrow after the possible near miss. Just wondering if all the cameras in London have gone on strike along with the tube:)

Hopefully we will have pictures tomorrow.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Good morning everyone! I hope everybody had a good evening - mine was lovely :)

Nouskie! Good to see you back from your travels. I've only been in that Whole Foods store the once, I find it daunting. OMG, the times I've walked round Notting Hill... worn my feet out. Welcome back xx

Morning Carol! I'm hoping for pics too - I don't blame Jake if he didn't go out yesterday - just revolting. But today, despite the tube strike - it's beautiful. I hope your head's not too bad today!

Have a good day everyone!

My evening was quite good too.
Movie "The Order" with Heath was on Tv, too dark for my taste and i didn't understand a thing but Heath who play young priest was gorgeous.
I guess no news and pics from Jake.
We have holiday here today plus tomorrow and weekend maybe i could come to London just to see Jake that would be sooo wonderful. How long does he stay ??

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Flower :D I hope you have a good break.

Monica said...

Good morning, wet dark!

Hello, Flower. The Order is not a good movie, but Heath has a good performance.
I miss Heath.

Today is holiday in Brazil.

Hi Monica :))
Heath always have good performances.
I miss him too... i miss old J&H friendship.
And yes The Order is quite bad.

Seems like the cameras are still on strike in London:)

Just saw that the Lance Armstrong movie is back up and running again. The writer of Seabiscuit us on board to write the script.

Aside from Jake, new names have been mentioned as to who might play Lance including Chris Pine & Robert Pattinson. Will be interesting to see what happens with that one.

Anonymous said...

Aren't Robin Hood and Harry Potter at Pinewood right now? Is it large enough to do anything with Prince of Persia with all that going on?

I would really rather not see Jake in a Lance Armstrong movie. No offense, but I think this kind of movie is better suited to the Lifetime Channel in the states.

It is a story about an athlete who develops cancer, recovers, divorces his wife, dates a rock star, and wins cycling races. Sometimes something that looks great "on the page" (It's Not About the Bike) doesn't translate to the big screen very well.

I seriously doubt they'd use someone like Jake, Rob Pattinson or Chris Pine. They wouldn't want to spend the money.

They would do better to look at television programmes and track someone who is the "next big thing" and anxious to break out in a new direction.

Anonymous said...

"Aren't Robin Hood and Harry Potter at Pinewood right now? "

I know Gulliver's Travels is.

Flower said...

Thanks Wet Dark.. :))
i have arrangement with friends to go on island call Brac, we will stay whole day. I am ready for first swim this summer.. :D

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi there Monica! I hope you had a good holiday :D

I've been reading about that, Carol, and a new post :D

Hi 16:46! - I don't think Jake's filming PoP, it's heavily in post-production and, I may be wrong, I heard that was largely taking place in LA. I totally agree about the casting - I don't think they'd pick a big name either. The cost would be too great for a film like this - although I do think Jake really wanted to do it.

Hi 18:03 :D

Have a good time, Flower!
