Land of the Lost - Brad Silberling revives Jimmy Livingston's favourite show

As all Gyllenhaalics know, Land of the Lost was the favourite show of both Jimmy Livingston and his love Chloe and the release of the remake in American theatres last Friday has the excellent side-effect of renewed attention in Bubble Boy. In Bubble Boy, we can headbang along to Jake giving his Rock of Ages audition.

Jake even gets to play a cameo in a dream sequence episode of Land of the Lost, although Nasty Mark is the one who saves Chloe from the TRex, all because he has Immunities. Despite this being a dream sequence, the special effects are just as pleasing as in the original, because, as Jimmy and Chloe say 'That's the point'. Let's hope Will Ferrell and director Brad Silberling - Yes, Brad Silberling of Moonlight Mile - do it justice.

It's not every day you get to see Jake Gyllenhaal being chased by a dinosaur, which is probably just as well. Just as well for Jake too judging by his dinosaur issues - Jake's worst class at Columbia was his dinosaur class: 'Actually, my grades were pretty good, except for the `F' I got in my class on dinosaurs. That was the hardest class I ever took' (Orange County Register 2001).

Hey, good to see that I wasn't the only one who thought of Bubble Boy when reading about the release of Land of the Lost!!! :D :D :D

But I am pretty sure the dream sequence from Bubble Boy and Jake's impersonation of whatever character from LotL that was will be better than the entire new movie... (Sorry, but I get pimples when I see Will Ferrell... LOL)

Have a good start into the new week tomorrow!!

Hey Uli! No, not just you :D I can't bear Will Ferrell either but I was very intrigued that Brad mad it. I'll go and see it though (opens here in July) because I see everything with dinosaurs in it!

That's true about Brad... I was like "Huh?" when I saw that he was directing it...

But even he or dinosaurs won't make me go see it... :D :D Especially not since that movie will probably only be shown dubbed here - and I think "movies like that" (not knowing anything about the movie, to be honest, but just thinking of Will Ferrell) usually only get worse because they use oh so funny voices for the actors and make the jokes even more funny... Urgh...
I don't even know when it will get here...

Argh, I am having another awful week in front of me (luckily only 3 days work). And I am exhausted...
Hugs!

(((Uli))) I'm so sorry to hear you have another hard week ahead - good it's a short one. I saw Jurassic Park dubbed in Germany - it didn't affect the plot for me but it was odd - I wish they would subtitle instead... A dubbed Jake is not good!

I have a very busy week ahead, I'm getting ready for it with a big bowl of strawberries!

Good night, wet dark!

My brother is a fan of Land of the Lost. I think he saw all the episodes of the series.
Will Ferrel? hum ... I not like that actor.

Hi there Monica! Looks like none of us like Will! I like homemade dinosaur action myself... Thanks for the link to the pic :D Jake looks pretty animated there.

I do like Will Ferrell as Anchorman but apart from that
he isn't really my cup of tea either. I don't think I'll be heading to see this one.

Just back from Terminator Salvation. Not as bad as I had been led to believe before I went. Sam Worthington was really good in it.

Was just thinking as I was there that the first teaser trailers for PoP should be appearing soon. I remember seeing first Star Trek ones nearly a year before it was released. Fingers crossed it will be soon:)

Hey Carol! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed Terminator. I couldn't bring myself to see it in the end, as I've developed this real aversion for Christian Bale, which is a shame as I saw him on the set of Empire of the Sun all those years ago - I can't recognise him now. In TDK I just put up with him. But maybe I should give it a go. I loved the first two Terminator movies.

Each time I go to the pictures now I think this could be the first time I get a proper look at the Prince on the big screen! It won't be long! Under a year now, I'm waiting to hear someone say they've had a glimpse - there are so many good movie-goers here :D

I've had a crazy weekend and am just now catching up on the posts I missed...such fun!! I just learned the other day that Brad S. directed LotL...I was so surprised! I hope he has great success with it. Ahhh, MM, one of my all time favorite movies...still.

Finally some NYC pap pics, huh?! And he is Lookin' Good :-) !!!!!!! Can't wait to see if his "look" is for a specific reason or he just felt like shaving and letting his hair flow - LOL!! Time will tell. Hoping for more sightings soon.

Thanks for the great posts this weekend WDW...it's always fun to sit back for a half hour or so and catch up on a bunch that I missed. I don't watch a minute of television so this contributes to my daily screen time entertainment I guess!

xo

I love it that you are discussing all these new movies, and that I've seen them! WDW, by all means go see "Terminator salvation." The rest of you, flip a coin about "Land of the Lost." I saw it today and thought the special effects were good, except when they weren't :-/. What I mean is that a few scenes had cheesy effects, but apparently they were deliberately cheesy to please the fans of the old TV series that Jimmy Livingston liked.

What you probably *don't* know is that one of the odd extraterrestrial characters is actually Leonard Nimoy, who probably has a hard time getting movie roles because he is so thoroughly identified with Mr. Spock. :-(. Anyway, I liked Will Ferrell in "Anchor," "Stranger Than Fiction," "Bewitched," and one or two other movies. I don't like him when he and Mr. Reilly are trying to compete to see who can look stupidest.

I don't dislike Ferrell as much as I dislike Adam Sandler, but even Sandler can be entertaining at times.

Peace. If you don't see "Land of the Lost," not much will be lost, except the land itself. ;-)
