[Updated] Summer Knights - A journey into the past - and Jake reruns the Chilmark Road Race

Summer returned today and with it came brave knights, mighty steeds, billowing standards, thundering hooves and smashing blades, all washed down with fruity pimms.

It all reminded me of some things.

Includes pictures from IHJ and WDW.

Update: We were wondering if Jake would run the Chilmark Road Race again today. Well, yes he did and the results are in (with a big thanks to BBMISwear :-)). No sign of Chris this time.

Thanks for those wonderful pics, WDW,

I've been to a renaissance faire they have here in Maryland in Sept. I love watching the joust, it reminds me of Heath in A Knight's Tale.

Looks like both Heath and Jake like riding BIG horses. I remember at the end of the AKT dvd they talked about the breed they used and they were massive. I love horses and would love to know what breed Jake was riding. AND I'd like to see how well he did on his lessons. I remember him having to take lessons before he did BBM, I wonder if they came in handy doing POP.

It's a wonder Jake (and the other actors) didn't pass out from the oppressive heat.

one more thing

I meant with them wearing all those clothing (I know Jake sheds some of it during the movie :D)

Hi there Sweetpea :D I had so much fun at the jousting today - this was a recreation of the Victorian medieval jousts that used to happen in the grounds of Blenheim. It was much better than I thought it would be and well worth the bright red sunburnt nose I left with :D And it so reminded me of Heath in A Knight's Tale.

I remember the video we saw of Jake practising his riding with a sword before PoP filming proper began. But it must've been tough. Co-star Toby Kebbell has talked about the extreme heat they had to deal with. The knights today wore the heaviest chainmail and it was pretty hot - I don't know how they or the horses managed. I was ok, I had Pimms :D

Fortunately, Jake looks like he will shed a fair bit of unecessary clobber :)

Thanks so much, Anon!

Lovley Pics :)

Is it just me, or is anyone else having serious Jake withdrawal symptoms, the last time we got a propper set of pics was about a month ago now :P

At least we got those wonderful pop pics :) I do hope theres a trailer soon!

Hi there Anon! Jake does like to torment us with these long gaps.... Remember last year - it seemed to last forever. But I reckon there could be a PoP trailer at Disney's expo next month. It's very difficult to be a Gyllenhaalic without some degree of patience! It's good to have the PoP photos :)

I updated the poste because, thanks to BBMISwear, we can see that Jake did in fact run the Chilmark Road Race today :D Good for you, Jake!

That's great Jake ran the race.

Thanks for all the pics in this post WDW. Especially the ones of Heath. When I see pictures like that I realise how much I miss him.

Hope everyone has a nice Sunday:)

Love hearing about Jake in MV doing the road race! :D Although your link doesn't show the results, WDW. There is a pic of the racers, like last year, but you can't see Jake. I think he may be in the back with just a smidge of hair showing behind another persons head. Not sure it is him though.

Also, Naomi and Deacon and Ava ran the race too. Chris was not listed amoung the racers though.

Glad Jake is in MV. Hope he is there when the Obamas are. :)

Cool Philly pic/sightings too!

And awesome pictures of the jousters, WDW! I have always wanted to go to a re-enactment.

Lovely postings and thoughts on BBM. Always poignant to revisit the boys and the mountain...

Hey Carol :D It is great! Can't believe it's two years!! Unbelievable how time flies (even without a new film :D) Have you seen Orphan yet?

Hi there Get Real! My link was a very early one, pre-results, so it's been fun seeing how Jake did. Good for Naomi!

I hope everyone's having a lovely Sunday, I'm very nicely sunburnt...

God, I miss Heath! Thanks for these pictures, WDW. A while ago, I watched an old Errol Flynn movie. Captain Blood. And there was Heath! So I know for certain, now, he was a huge influence. I've also seen a bit of Johnny Depp, now and then. Clearly these were actors he admired. I'm glad he had a chance to meet and become friends with Johnny. They met when Heather was doing "From Hell."

Of course Heath learned a grew and developed his own unique style, and you knew from the first moment the camera met him, it was deep and undying love! :)

Jake looks amazing in these stills. I cannot wait for the Prince of Persia....(Or Brothers...or Nailed.)

Thanks for that great comment, Anon :) I didn't know that about Heath knowing Johnny From Hell (I love that film in spite of the accent). The camera really did love Heath. One of my favourite scenes from any film is the dancing scene in A Knight's Tale. I could watch Heath in that for hours.
