Our discussion yesterday of Jake Gyllenhaal's oversized/perfectly sized jeans has led me to embark on another scientific project - an analysis of one of those Gyllenhaal Trademarks. Along with the coffee cup, the key on the green string, the dog ball throwing Orange Thing, the Nike and The Hat, The Jeans have passed into GyllenLore, just as they have also possibly passed into the laundry basket in the sky.
Since their debut on the world's stage at the film festivals of Venice and Toronto 2005, we have been fortunate to watch The Jeans grow, as they supported Jake's every stride through his career.
We have seen those little designer peaks through the denim blossom into rips and holes and watched as patches were patched, cloth thinned and still they were worn and cherished.
The Jeans seem to go with everything, the t-shirt or the expensive jacket. Nike, boots or cloth shoes. A nice snack.
They might not be the most attractive of the Jake Jeans but they are arguably the most loved, if not by all of us, then at least and most importantly by Jake.
Love and Other Drugs has another cast member. In an interview for his current movie Whiteout, Gabriel Macht told his co-star Kate Beckinsale that he is shortly to begin work on the film with Jake and Anne Hathaway.

LOL! That was an awsome post! What dedication to research and science! :D With all these pictures in one post you can see very well how ragged The Jeans are getting. I can't believe he wore them in so many different occasions. Do we know when was the last time they were seen? When Jake decides to retire them, I'm sure he could get a good amount of money for them at an auction for charity. Imagine what he would get for these and The Postal Shirt together!
Olympia
Glad you like it, Olympia! A selfless piece of analytical scientific research, to be sure. Clearly I got no pleasure from scrutinising the seams of Jake's seams for wear and tear. Someone had to do it :D
Jake's worn them pretty recently so there may be life in them yet but surely they're worn through pretty thin. He'd make a packet for them at a charity auction. I think the Postal Shirt must be destined for a museum...
Morning all! Have a good day. It's supposed to be hot here - I'm still waiting for the evidence :)
Great post. Thanks for undertaking more scientific research on our behalf WDW. Much appreciated:)
It is really easy to get attached to an item of clothing. I have some jeans way past their wear by date aswell but I can't bear to part with them.
OT I was at a music festival over the weekend and they had a cinema tent. The Dark Knight was playing but also a movie called Waveriders. It's a documentary about surfing in particular around the north west coast of Ireland. One of the Irish surfers looks really like Jake. I would recommend it.
Have a good day.
Hi there Carol! The music festival sounds like fun. I like the sound of Waveriders too. I'm getting flashbacks of my Cornish trip :)
I love how Jake gets attached to clothes and will patch them up. I still have a couple of tops from when I was a teenager and I hang on to them. I did have to throw a beloved pair of jeans away last year so I know what Jake's going through if these had to go!
Lovely blog, WDW! :-)
I wouldn't know one pair of jeans from another...
I haven't seen the bird shirt in quite a while. ;-)
Last night I saw "Inglourious Basterds." I left after a couple hours, not waiting for the last 30 minutes. I don't think there's a single Jake link in the whole thing, unless you count the city of Paris.
Thanks Paul! My eyes and senses are well tuned to Jake's clobber :D
I've wondered about those plaid shirts, having seen now that Jake wears them in Brothers. I have a feeling they were all for getting into that character. Makes me wonder about The Hat now.
Sorry you didn't like Inglorious Basterds. I've still not seen it, I think it could be quite violent.
Get ready to see more Plaid, WDW. I hear that it's coming back into fashion this Fall.
I wouldn't say that I disliked "Inglourious Basterds," but I do dislike having the most likely Oscar nominations go to movies that make me squirm.
People have been asking me if I recommend "All About Steve," and the first thing I say is that almost every critic panned it. And yet, the *reason* they panned it is Sandra Bullock's portrayal of a woman so crazy that she stalks a guy. Nobody wants to see that in a movie, *but* I bet everyone knows at least one woman who has been a lot like that. It's funny how people will embrace fantasy but not something as realistic as that. Anyway, a lot of talented people give good performances, and if you stay to the end, you have a pretty good feeling about how it all turns out.
Ohhhh, I thought Inglorious was glorious! I have been totally captivated by Christoph Waltz. I love languages, and he is just beautiful, speaking them all - deadly beautiful. An silver-tongued devil, your caught in his elegant web before you know it. I'm a Quentin Tarantino fan, his films tend to be violent, but he's such a good filmmaker he manages to make it work, at least for me. I tend not to like violent movies ordinarily.
Mmmmm.....I hold a special place in my heart for The Jeans! :p
He looks so good in them and in the most recent photos from the last post.
Love to hear all the movie news!
Empire magazine is having an online poll for sexiest actors of both gender. I just voted, making sure that Jake Gyllewnhaal, Michelle Williams, Anne Hathaway, and a number of other worthies got my votes. (You're allowed 5 votes for stars of each gender.)
Hi everyone! What a busy day... Not good going back to the gym after three weeks of indulgence. I need some Jaking for a relaxation therapy.
Hi Paul! Nooooo! No plaid, please, no plaid.
It's interesting All About Steve. It's not open here but I'm read some of the terrible views and yet some viewers have enjoyed it. I'm all for a Sandra Bullock movie but I think you're right - it could be odd to watch a stalker on screen and find it funny. I'll possibly go and see it but some of the jokes sound terrible!
Hi there Anon! You speak with silver tongue and make me want to see this film. I'm not a fan of gory movies that make me go ugh but after Benjamin Button I have a lot of time for Brad. I could begin my learning curve. Thanks for such a response to seeing a film :)
Hey Get Real! I've loved watching The Jeans grow (or should that be sag and gape) and be loved through the years. I like the later pics of Jake wering them too :)
Ooh, thanks for that Paul! I'll check that out and vote as much as is possible :D
