Jake Gyllenhaal talks about music, biking, Source Code, the Oscars and what's next - and my SC review is now up at Bleeding Cool

There are some great videos in this post. I'm still going through them but I don't want to wait. Here are some interviews with Ben Lyons with E! in which Jake Gyllenhaal talks about all manner of things, including his favourite music. I liked this in particular because he talks of his love for Adele's new album - that's the album that I'm listening to on a loop right now.

And back to SXSW.... In this interview, Jake talks about what's next for him and while he's not able to give anything away, however much he wants to, at least we hear that he is working on a new film. There is something on the way.

In an interview with People, Jake and Michelle Monaghan discuss Jake and what any one of us might do with those last eight minutes. Michelle: '[off set] Jake played this sort of old, funny, French foodie chef – and talked a lot about food, because we ate a lot there... Jake's really, really funny," Monaghan, 34, says. "And I'd never seen that side of him in his films. To have the opportunity to spend time with him was so much fun. He's fabulous." '

Jake: '"If I were to go into someone's body whose life I felt was cut too short," he said at the premiere, "there are a number of circumstances I can think of. In fact, it's kind of hard right now to be at a movie premiere at a festival when you think about what's going on in Japan. To be able to change things like that." Gyllenhaal continued: "Or how great would it be to be able to go into Martin Luther King's body? And to be able to tell him: 'Don't do this. Don't go there.' That would be an amazing opportunity."'

And finally...

My review of Source Code is now up at Bleeding Cool and is completely non-spoilery.

I also have a review of Battle Los Angeles up at MovieBrit - spoilers seem to matter less with this one.

Many thanks to BBMISwear and Serene Hill for the heads up for the interviews.

Oh my, the interview segments with the doughnuts were so cool! hahaha I love the part where he says that he could take a nap on the table after having them! No wonder, they are HUGE! :D Thanks so much for the vids!

I'm not familiar with the bands he mentions in the interview Adele and The Civil Wars ... I'm a bit more "noisy" musically speaking :P but Bruce Springsteen's Darkness on the Edge of Town is fantastic indeed, I loved the documentary of the making of this album. Highly recommended.

Oh and extra thanks to BBMISwear for helping me with the transcription of Jake's words about directing in Duncan & Jake clips. I'd also love to see Jake directing ... Something tells me it would be awesome :)

Nighty night you all and thanks for the updates!

Evening everyone!

The videos are great, Carlota! I don't know The Civil Wars either but Adele is wonderful. She's a young Brit singer/song writer. Her new album 21 is all I'm listening to at the moment, alternating with Elbow's new album. I love that Jake has so much time for British bands. Night!

Loved your SC review WDW!

They showed "Deja Vu" (2006) with Denzel Washington on the network here a few days ago and I immediately had to think of the similarities with Source Code (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0453467/). I can't wait to see it! I'm always a sucker for things geeky and sci-fi like folding time and space and "what if..." and stuff ;-)
I love how Jake mentioned the situation in Japan during SXSW premiere... Having friends in Osaka and Tokyo and watching those horrible images, my heart goes out to these people... I can't comprehend. I wish I could do more than just offer my support financially. They really need all the help they can get!
Donate to your local red cross or other Japan Relief organisation. Just do something... Sorry, off topic. My mind wanders sometimes.

I'm sure he knows about the Civil Wars through Taylor. :)

They're still not that well known, but alot of the attention they have gotten is cause of her. http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory?id=13139583

Jake has a great taste in music! The Civil Wars are AMAZING. I love them so much.

I also think he knows of them through Taylor who went to a recent show of theirs in Nashville, I think? Their album "Barton Hollow" is absolutely beautiful.

Adele is great too, I like her album 19 better than her newest album 21. And of course Jake has to mention Bruce Springsteen. Haha, I will always love the radio interview he did for "Brothers" and talked about 5 (i think) songs that meant a lot it him and Springsteen was in there. That food look good! I live in Tx so I know what good Texas food is like - and that looks good!

anyways - Good taste in music Jake.

I love all this SC info! I cannot wait until it's on theaters! The trailer looked iffy to me, but everyone seems to really enjoy it, so I am excepting to be pleasantly surprised.

Lastly,
I saw Brokeback for the first time on Netflix a few days ago. WOW. Jake was so great in that film and I absolutely loved that film. Honestly words cannot express how I feel. Just the subtle depth of the characters and they are all so interwoven together in this film. It's beautiful.

Yep, she did. There's a picture of Taylor w/the Civil Wars and Hillary Scott (lead singer of Lady Antebellum & Taylor's good friend) at the Nashville show in the link I posted.

"Poison & Wine" is by far their best song. Amazing.

And Adele's entire new album is just perfect. Odd... but I actually kinda had a feeling he was listening to it. haha

So great to know Jake is excited about his next project! And too funny that he seems like he really wants to tell us what it is already. We too are dying to know, Jake! :-D

We will have to wait a little longer, I guess. But this was just great news. Thank you, WDW. Made my day. ;-)

So glad you liked it, Lemniscate! I want people to go and see it but without telling them what they'll find there - other than a fantastic movie.

Hi Amanda! I'm not familiar with them at all so I'll check them out. I love Adele's 21 - it's nice to think that Jake's been listening to it possibly at the same time as me :) And welcome!

They're great interviews, Sweetpea :)

Hi Margot! I have no doubt you'll be pleasantly surprised - the trailer did a great job of not giving anything away. But the buzz from people who've seen this film is magical, it really is. And so glad you got to see Brokeback! It's lovely thinking that it's still be found and enjoyed by new audiences.

Yep, we really want to know, Alejandra! How can he keep this from us... ? But hopefully we'll find out sooner rather than later. So glad it all made your day :)

Have a good Friday everyone. Red Nose day here in the UK so good luck to everyone organising an event for that. If you want to know how to donate, I suggest you pop over to Rob's site and press that Big Red Button.
