Jake Gyllenhaal at the Globes Part 2 - and some new Love and Other Drugs covers and stills

There are some more pictures today from last night's Golden Globes and so we have a chance to catch up with that and some other wonderful pictures courtesy of Eureka and Monica before tomorrow's stonking exclusive Golden Globes report. Yes, tomorrow's post will be like the custard on top of a trifle, the bubbles inside a glass of champagne, the vinegar on top of a plate of fish and chips. In the meantime, let us enter the arena of the Kung Fu Panda Staring Contest as re-enacted by one Jake Gyllenhaal and another Matt Damon.

There is also another photograph of Jake with his lovely escort for the evening, Jenny Lewis...

... and another with the other Golden Globes companion of choice - Bubbly. Bubbly with some sort of silver funnel in it to be precise.

Jake was later seen amongst the party goers scoffing SpagBol at the Chateau Marmont at 4 in the morning. Without doubt, Jake was one of the 7 sexiest guys at the Golden Globes (I think we can narrow it down further than that...).

Many thanks to Eureka for some corking new magazine covers from Spain coinciding with the release there this week of Love and Other Drugs.

We also have some new stills from Love and Other Drugs via Monica. These are such great pictures - I've not posted them all, there are more there. Interestingly, a few of these (like the running pictures) are from scenes that never actually make the movie. Ed, we need them on the DVD.

And finally...

Duncan Jones has been talking to We Got This Covered about his next project after Source Code. It's well worth a read.

Pictures thanks to IHJ, Eureka and Monica.

My review of The Green Hornet is now up at MovieBrit.

Jake Gyllenhaal at the Golden Globes - and with Jenny and Busy (Part 1)

A little awards ceremony took place last night, and while Jake Gyllenhaal (and both Johnny Depps) didn't walk away with a Globe, golden or otherwise, it did at least get him out of the house and into another tux (Burberry this time). Jake's escort for the evening was the lovely Jenny Lewis, an old friend and flame. Not to mention everyone's favourite bodyguard.

Some videos from last night...

Earlier in the day, Jake went out for lunch with Busy Philipps and her family. This also served to prove the point that it's a lot warmer in LA than it is in much of the rest of the northern hemisphere.

This is a Part 1 post - there will be more later!

Many thanks to IHJ for the pictures - there are many more there.

Lewis! Jake Gyllenhaal continues to make me feel guilty by going to the gym a lot

Yesterday (June 8), Jake Gyllenhaal continued his fitness regime by visiting a gym in Studio City, LA. This provided a smiley Jake with the perfect opportunity to model his Lewis sweater - I have it on good authority that this is a tribute to singer Jenny Lewis and not, as I previously assumed, the Oxford detective Lewis. Unfortunately, Jake left his fabled motorbike at home, instead opting for the Audi he mentioned in an interview in yesterday's post.

Many thanks to IHJ for the pics! There are more there.

Rock - A night at the Hollywood Bowl... and Axl Rose?

Last night it was tweeted that Jake Gyllenhaal had been seen at Jenny Lewis and Ray LaMontagne's show at the Hollywood Bowl that evening. And today we have the pictures of Jake and Reese leaving the Bowl. As compensation for the report that Jake was irritable with the paps while Reese argued with them while less than sober, we do have chesthair. Jake is nothing if not protective here while Reese looks like she's having some fun. Hopefully they enjoyed the concert.

Am I the only one who wants to turn Jake's VIP Guest sticker the right way up?

I wonder if Jake is growing Rendition hair for a purpose...

And, speaking of rock, now for the strange news of the day. A blog reported at the weekend that they had seen a report in the Rollingstone that said that the movie about Kurt Cobain, now entitled Heavier than Heaven, was at last in pre-production and that Jake Gyllenhaal is included in the cast as Axl Rose! To add some credence to this is the identity of the screenwriter - David Benioff - who was, of course, the writer for Brothers. Quite an array of actors is listed as associated with the project. So is this true?

Jake is now linked with a whole heap of musical movies - it does seem to be a running theme. I cannot picture Jake in Guns 'n' Roses, no matter how hard I try. And thinking about Kurt Cobain inevitably makes me think about Pilot.

Many thanks to IHJ for the pictures.

In the wings and behind the scenes - time to get on stage

If you get the right festival, the right event, you can get far more than the price your ticket promised. You not only get a glimpse through bobbing heads and shoulders of bands more at home in stadiums than muddy or sandy fields, you not only get an expensive plastic pint of beer and fish and chips in cardboard (with ketchup that can't be squeezed out of its plastic). Sometimes, if things go really right, you see a bigger star in the wings than the one before you trying to hold your attention on centre stage. Sometimes side stage is where you want to look.

Who knows who you may meet while popping out for that fish and chips...

Of course, sometimes, side stage becomes centre stage and the cameo eclipses the leading man or lady.

Coachella has come to an end, having been thoroughly enjoyed by the media for its turn out of Hollywood stars. Arguably, the festival has proved a mixed bag of fortunes for Jake Gyllenhaal, with initial fluffy pictures (albeit mixed with the humour afforded by an open fly) replaced by photographs of Jake giving the finger to paps, video of a bum 'pat' and a report (totally unsubstantiated) of narrowly avoided fisticuffs - why anyone would want to talk their way through a concert is beyond me. I'm ready to see more pictures of Jake back at home, or, even better, on a film set - how about a red carpet? We're due one of those.

[Updated] Coachella - desert rock

Say 'Music Festival' to me and memories of mud rivers, leaking tents and porterloos fill my mind. But the Coachella Music Festival is near Palm Springs and that means heat, a spot of golf and no crawling under a hedge to get in. This weekend, Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon and friends are among the stars enjoying the Ting Tings. Oh, and Paul McCartney, Paul Weller, the Killers and Franz Ferdinand (I'd stick in the beer tent for the Cure). My own festival tip for Jake and Reese: mark your tent with a scarf and take a picture of the surrounding landmarks.

Er, and I have another suggestion...

Jake was reported as being at the MIA set while Jake and Reese were seen enjoying the Fleet Foxes.

They were also among the audience for Jenny Lewis, with Jake looking a thousand miles away.

Jenny was, of course, Jake's date for the Hollywood premiere of Donnie Darko back in 2001...

Includes pictures from IHJ and Getty.

ETA: Thanks very much to IHJ for all the further pics from Coachella yesterday (you can see them there), which include photographs of Jake and Reese with Jenny Lewis herself. The new pictures by the pool (presumably back at the hotel) suggest that the photographer was far more interested in Reese and her pina colada than in a shirtless Jake. What an opportunity.... lost....
