You know what they say about men with bald heads? Big feet. Proving this ancient adage true, Jake Gyllenhaal visited a police training centre yesterday in LA, 21 July. Please note how I'm not mentioning how shiny Jake's shoes are (police training rubbing off?) or, indeed, how shiny the back of Jake's head is.
As always, Jake is a trendsetter and no sooner had Jake's new look received its first airing than Matt Damon shaved all of his off as well. People is even asking readers to vote between the appeal of Matt's head vs Jake's. At the moment they're head to head.
There were rumours today that The Pale One also made an attempt to follow the new GyllenTrend but he couldn't quite go through with it.
New photos have emerged of Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena on the set of End of Watch in LA (taken on 19 July). If one had any last faint hopes that hair might be involved at least a little bit, consider them dashed. Yes, Baldy Jake is back and so is the uniform, complete with a belt that has so many accessories attached to it it's a wonder it doesn't pull the trousers down rather than hold them up. Jake is shown here getting into character by practising his sparring skills and staring at peas.

Mumford and Sons just can't shake him off... Jake Gyllenhaal was so seized by the moment when he saw the Brit band at San Pedro the other day that he hopped on their vintage train and stowed away. He didn't even take a change of clothes. One would have thought that Mumford and Sons would have discovered him by now and chucked him off at the next station. But they haven't. Perhaps Jake is working his passage, doing the cooking and washing.
Last night the Railroad Revival Tour reached Austin in Texas, mere weeks after Source Code's triumphant premiere in the city. Before the show, the band played at Austin High School, jamming with the school marching band and playing basketball with the kids. Never one to miss an opportunity to get sweaty, Mumford and Sons' mascot got out there to test those hoops* (*making up the lingo as I go along) and take out the opponents. Do check out the K-AHS flickr - there are lots of photos of Jake and the band on and off stage.
Two things to note here: 1) Jake's head is a little less shiny. I do believe we have some growth. 2) Jake didn't bring a change of clothes - he'd have been better off playing without the shirt.
The whole tour is being filmed for a documentary by Emmett Malloy. One hopes Jake will feature. What with Man Vs Wild, this could be the Jake Gyllenhaal Documentary Season.
As for that school marching band...

Just as well Jake hung on to those hoodies... In a reminder of those Jarhead filming days, Jake Gyllenhaal visited a restaurant with a friend yesterday - the Tavern in Brentwood, LA - with his new shiny head double-protected from eyes and sunrays thanks to a P for Pittsburgh Pirates hat and a hood. He also brought a wide smile along for good measure not to mention something in his pouch. I don't know what the mystery object is but I do know it's not a hairbrush.
If you're in the UK and you have Sky TV (I qualify for only one of those unfortunately), you're in for more of a treat this Easter than just chocolate bunnies, Prince of Persia receives its TV premiere. To mark the occasion, the April edition of Sky Movies is a Hollywood heroes edition, with illustrations of the heroes on the cover, including the Prince. This issue harks back to a time when Jake didn't just have hair, he had rather a lot of it. You therefore might have difficulty recognising him after the photos from today and yesterday. Fortunately, my mum does have Sky and so she saved me a copy to scan.
