With thanks to friend Herman, here is more Jake Gyllenhaal as he appeared in the papers of Sweden yesterday, this time in the evening Expressen paper. I believe this repeats much of the information and criteria from the UK's Daily Mail Mr Right feature, but one thing I do know is that, judging by the comparative size of the picture of Tom Cruise, the latter doesn't quite fit the bill. I like the sound of a Dromkillen...
It appears that filming in New Mexico for Brothers is continuing still, at least for the Tobey Maguire element of the movie. Pictures were posted today of one lucky NM local dressed in full garb as a member of the Taliban. He has just completed two days of filming for Brothers. Jake, of course, does not appear to be in New Mexico at the moment but this may just mean that the emphasis is currently on the Afghanistan element of the movie, which, one (meaning me) could naively assume may take more preparation and extra days.
Peter Sarsgaard is currently attending the Sundance Film Festival with his movie The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, which is creating some buzz (more on that at a future date). Two years ago this month, Jake and Peter attended another festival together - Palm Springs - where Jake was awarded the Actor's Desert Palm Achievement Award. Jake's 'date' for the event was Peter, who introduced Jake by saying that his friend wanted to sing and dance for them all. Jake delivered - with Night Fever. We've all seen it and I know it bears seeing again!
On receiving such an award, Jake said: 'It's sort of a little bit absurd to me at this point that I would be honored. But I'm also proud of the work that I've done. So I think that, to me, it's about all the stuff I've done. I think it's good stuff.' Here is a link to a video of Jake and Peter arriving for the event, giving some taste of the excitement on that desert red carpet back in January 2006.
According to the report: 'Honoree Jake Gyllenhaal was rushed along the red carpet but did stop long enough to do one group interview. Gyllenhaal answered a local Palm Springs reporters question about his visit to Palm Springs by saying he enjoys spending time there and has visited the area many times. However he doesn’t usually partake in one of the city’s most popular pastimes. Gyllenhaal confessed he’s not much of a golfer. Asked about the special award he was about to receive, Gyllenhaal said he was "a little nervous" about standing in front of the 1,200+ attendees and accepting the award. "I am always nervous when I have to go on stage. Peter [Sarsgaard, Jake’s date for the evening] has already said so many things about me. I am nervous about what he comes up with tonight.' Little did Jake know... being nervous and still being able to sing Night Fever takes a certain something.

Wonderful WDW, As far as Brothers either Jake's part is finished or he was not needed on the set.
I loved watching the Palm Springs awards, Jake and Peter arriving, someone said something funny. Jake cracked up.
And Jake can sing alot better than that, We have the SNL TAPE!
wonderful report :D
Trekfan
Hi Trekfan - Thanks, I'm so glad you liked it. It's interesting to find out what we can about Brothers and, at least for some members of the cast, it seems to be still ongoing. Maybe not for Jake though.
I loved that video too, when Jake and Peter get the giggles :D
Well, seeing as he's part Swede, even if he says he prefers matzo balls, I guess our darln' dromkillen deserves all the Scando lovin' he can get - I know I wanna kiss him in all countries - & every tongue. :) :) :)
Love to hear him sing. Jake's gotta lighten up and do a musical, for sure. Anybody work on a script? and ideas for lyrics?
Im reading the script on-line for Heavens Gate, right now - I love how one can get back stories from orig. scripts. and how some films handle back stories. and some dont. etcetc.
Lovely Jake and Peter!
Hi Pia - Nothing like Jake in every language, that's for sure. A musical would be great, something with some angst and drama to it :D
I am not so sure he is done filming. He does still have the beard (As we saw the other day with the pap pic's). :) But knowing Jake, and his love for the beard, that doesn't mean anything.
I think it's always fun whenever Jake is in the company of Peter!
I am very looking forward to "The Mysteries of Pittsburgh" (despite Sienna Miller kind of put me off... lol), I love that Michael Chabon book.
Don't know if Jake has finished his parts in Brothers, but you never know... he might still be on stand-by, in case they need to reshoot anything. Remember Fincher? :P
Late commenting...but Great news about Brothers coming out December 2008!
I loved the all singing, all dancing Jake. I would love to see him use his talents in a musical. Almost as much as I want to see him do comedy. I think he is so mulit talented, he could do it all!
Hi everyone - I've been sucked into watching the Bubble Boy commentary :D
Hi Birdgirl - It's difficult to know how much
store we should put by the beard in regard to the filming, but I would have thought that it's very possible Jake still has bits to do with the film, whether in NM or LA, who knows. We can only speculate :D
Hey Winterbird - Jake and Peter are just great together! I'm looking forward to the film too although I share your Sienna Miller reservations ;)
Ooh, it's Vegas and Jake and Blair are fighting... I love this commentary :D
Good to see you Rosie! There are so many types of role I'd like to see Jake in - he certainly has cominc timing down to a tee.
Hey WDW! That Night Fever video always bears repeating - can't get enough Singing Jake! I would love to see him do a musical. I was watching a bit of Grease the other day (don't ask!) and couldn't help thinling Jake would make a brilliant Danny. I always prefered Kenickie myself, but I would switch my affections to Danny in a heartbeat if Jake was playing him.
Love seeing Jake with Peter as well, they have such a great rapport:)
Hey TL - I could hear you singing along with Night Fever from here :D Oh, Grease, that takes me back but no, I couldn't bear to see Jake in another movie with bad hair!
Had such a good evening with Bubble Boy - Jake is a master of the silly voice - and very strange to see John Carroll Lynch in such a contrasting role.
Point taken about the Grease hair, but the tight trousers and black t-shirt would make up for it, wouldn't they? ;)
I'm afraid John Carroll Lynch will always be Arthur Leigh Allen to me now:( I still haven't plucked up courage to watch Zodiac yet after that scary dream I had. I had a wonderful Jake dream last night though;)
Well, maybe the t-shirt ;) I hope you have another of the good dreams tonight TL. I wouldn't mind one of those too.
Try watching some BBM, that usually does the trick;)
That's not a bad idea at all :D
Any excuse to watch SNIT *sigh* On that note, it's goodnight from me xx
sweet dreams everypeeps!
Night all *)
Does anyone know whether HRH Jake speaks any Swedish? ;)
Morning everyone :D Hope you all have a relaxing Sunday.
Hi Anon I'm only guessing but I suspect HRH knows very litle Swedish, although I would certainly love to hear him give it ago, along with all the other languages and accents we've said here that we would like him to try. Thanks for commenting :D
Good morning, lil darlin's!
Holiday long weekend in USA, honoring Martin Luther King, Jr. Jake our darlin' Jake has said, himself, this CAN BE a great country (a country with a great heart?) - I get teary over MLK - and Jake -
Hi Pia -hope you're having a good day and enjoy another day off tomorrow :D Wouldn't mind one of those, that's for sure...
Did I ever mention the recent dream I had, in which Jake ran a small general store next door to the house I grew up in?
