Thanks again to IHJ, here are more pictures from yesterday of Jake down North Bedford Drive in Beverly Hills. I have two things to say. Firstly: How come when Jake opens his car door umpteen newspapers don't blow out or bottles of water roll out? Secondly: Jake, please teach me how to parallel park (but not in the scarey way that Paul Newman taught you how to avoid walls when heading straight for them).
The news that Jake Gyllenhaal has been heralded as Britain's Mr Right is spreading around the world. Thanks to Tammy, here is a link to a paper from Sweden, which, I think, is agreeing that Jake is the perfect man. And here is an Australian site that has no doubt that Jake is the ideal mate, while suggesting that Australian men may have difficulty living up to some of these conditions. Heath, obviously, would have no trouble at all.
With pictures of Jake out there in Los Angeles, surrounded by palm trees down a wide avenue (even though he's dressed as though he's about to go scaling pine trees at the fringes of the Arctic Circle), I'm reminded, not only of the Hawaiian post but also of an interview that Jake recorded for Acess Hollywood in Toronto in October. I've seen some of this interview before but, as is the delight with Jake interviews, more bits turn up later on. Here you can listen and watch Jake comparing the desert of Morocco to LA. In contrast to the Jarhead desert, the weather in Morocco was, Jake says, 'amazing, it was... almost exactly like LA, and so it was sort of like... LA! In a way!'
Awards season, albeit a rather strange and muted awards season, is upon us - we are only days away from the announcement of the nominations for the Oscars (deep breaths) - and in this interview Jake was asked what he thought of TIFF as a festival and as a launch pad for the silly season. 'You have to publicise a movie, you have to get everybody together, including the press, the people who want to see the movie, the people in the movie and the people who've made the movie. So I think just in general festivals are wonderful places to do that. Toronto in particular has become a hub, I think. A lot of movies come that eventually make their way to be recognised in the award season. But I don't think that's how it starts here. I think, ultimately, it's just a place where really wonderful people come to enjoy really great movies.'
'The exciting part right now is everybody being excited about the different movies coming out. I was sitting at a table last night with people who were just saying 'I'm so excited to see Jesse James and I'm so excited to see Atonement, I'm so...' And that's, I think, the wonderful part about it before it gets into the hoopla and, I guess you could kind of say, you know, the muckiness of all the awards and that's the really wonderful part.'
I love to hear Jake say certain words and 'hoopla' is one of them, 'muckiness' isn't bad either. I trawled a London newsagents at lunchtime today and I saw something in all the years I've followed Jake I never thought I would see: Jake's name in big bold red letters across the rags. This is in the UK where Jake's name is relatively little known but now is becoming well known. So, it seems to me that now, more than ever, this is the time to focus on Jake's words and the excitment that he has had making his films and we have had sharing them with him. Cheers, Jake!

Thanks for the link to the video WDW.
I guess I have to look the other way when I pass the magazines in Sainsbury's tomorrow. I hate the nasty gossip rags. I had hoped Jake might avoid them over here. :(
Mr Ruby does pretty well on that list of criteria. :D
Hey Ruby Hope you enjoy the video - Jake's eyes are so large and beautiful in it, breathless! Itwas a shock to me to see Jake in the rags here, the first time on this scale, and it upset me a bit :(
Mr WDW does well too, except for anything relating to money, cars or property :D
Hiya chaps. I'm going to have to leave watching the video of Jake's TIFF interview for tomorrow but the stills are pretty hot,WDW!
I'm totally with you and Ruby on being a little crest-fallen that Jake has been "discovered" by the gutter press over here. He is far too classy and precious to be cheapened and degraded by their tacky coverage. Maybe if we ignore them they might go away!
Jake certainly ticks all the boxes on that Ideal Man list, although my husband floats my boat just fine too...and I certainly didn't marry him for his money or his flash car either!
Hey Need to go to bed Nadine - you will definitely enjoy that video - Jake is beautiful in it. You're right. let's ignore the rags - I don't tend to look at them so it was a surprise today. Jake is definitely too classy :D
Mr WDW has a big beard but he is the right height... He doesn't have a mercedes of any colour. Nice purple motorbike though :)
hi, y'all!
lovely TIFF video - the interviewer is intelligent and seems to like Jake, in fact, alot - and Jake is a thing of beauty to watch, here: I was mesmerized.
I've been avoiding supermarkets since Jake has become marketable. I, too, have mixed feelings about this -
as for husbands, hmmm a bit dicey subject, I should think, but my first had everything but money, being a poor school teacher and a Marxist, and even more, sweet and sensitive, and OMY why was I so young and foolish, o well.
Im watching directors commentary on Once, love the accents. There's a music commentary, too.
whooops! anon is me.
My other half still has a slim but muscular build and blue eyes and he once had short, wavy dark hair, but what's left of his barnet is now a close cropped steely-grey colour...still works for me though. And he's definitely got a wonderful sense of humour...he needs it,married to me!
Gotta hit the hay now. Will go to work tomorrow knowing that TIFF-Jake will be waiting for me when I get home. Must ask him if he dresses to the right or the left, if I'm to do my new job properly.... ;-D Night night, lovely people xxx
Hi Anonymously Pia! I was mesmerised too and I think the interviewer was. At TIFF this time the interviewers knew what to expect from Jake and they couldn't get enough :D
The more I hear about Once from you, the more I want it!
I have an hour befor bed, so I need to find the right thing to watch. BBM last night so onight it may be some more Zodiac - still a lot to see.
hey Dresser to Mr Gyllenhaal - you snuck in there! Be sure to ask that queston, but I reckon we know :D Your other half sounds lovely, as do o many of our other halves - we have good taste in menfolk :D
You caught the Aftonbladet link - LOVE IT! Love you too, WDW!!!
Big hugs and love,
Tammy
Morning everyone :) More rain but no commuting :D
Hi Tammy! Hugs and love to you - And thanks for the link :D
Congratulations Tammy, you did what I only thought to do. But in the end I said to myself; what purpose to send a link to a article in SWEDISH?
Now I "have" to translate it anyhow, well most parts of it.
Headline
The womens' dream man
40 000 women have said what the want to say in British poll (study).
He has to have humor, love pets and at least 1.77 meter long. Preferrably short, dark hair and blue eyes.
This is what a poll among 40000 British women, according to Daily Mail, is showing.
The Dream Man is dressed in goodlooking jeans and a T-shirt, weighs over 79 kilograms and works as doctor or a laywer. He earns more than 380 000 kronor per year, drives a silvercoloured Mercedes and has a university education in his luggage.
He has had three serious love affairs before but has never been married and has no children.
Humour is important
This comes through according to the preferences 40 000 femal members of the site UKdating.com has fed into [the computer]. 66 percent of the women are saying they want to meet a man who is well trained, but even more important is that he has [a good sense of] humour. He must also value a good wine, nice restaurants and enjoy going to the theatre.
Smokers and footballfans do not qualify.
- The women who are dating on our site really know what they want to have and are not scared of letting the men to know, says David Brown, managing director for UKdating.com, to the Daily Mail.
-They are looking for a man the same way as for looking for a bank loan - by going to various sites, telling what they want and compare with whats out there [in the "real" world], he continues.
Grey hair is very OK
As for looks it is the actor Jake Gyllenhaal who is the man who answers the dreams of the women, states The Daily Mail. But for those who do not look like him it is not over. 18 percent of the women prefer a man with grey hair, 16 percent want a bald man, and 11 think a man with red hairs is best.
About a fourth, 28 percent, are saying that it does not matter what the man is earning - but the pet question is harder to evade. Only one percent of those asked can think of dating somebody who hates animals.
Annica Lundbaek
Well, please excuse my handling of the English language; this is just a very quick attempt to translate a text from Aftonbladet, Sweden's biggest daily, a tabloid, "evening" newspaper with about half a million readers. Our country has about nine million inhabitants. The British equivalent is The Evening Standard.
Cheers for Jake!
Herman
And cheers for Herman too! Thanks very much Herman - I'm glad to see that Jake's status as Mr Right is undisputed in Sweden too :D
Thanks for the video, WDW! I have to agree with the "hoopla" thing, there are some words that you never think twice about but then you hear Jake say them and they sound so cute and funny. Also agree with Pia that Jake looks gorgeous in this interview, even with the beard.
I'm having to make a gargantuan effort here not to go off on a rant about the gossip mags thing:(
Hey TL - I know it's hard not to rant, but well avoided :D I loved the 'hoopla' - I've heard Jake say that a couple of times now - and I did like the 'muckiness'. Jake is so gorgeous in this video just took my breath away and I watched it over and over. Hope you've managed to avoid all this rain :)
You have no idea how bad it gets!! Actually, I'm sure you do, but hey...for better or for worse;) Endless replays of SNIT are helping to calm me down:)
It would be easier to avoid the rain if it wasn't for the wind blowing hoods and umbrellas all over the place. It's stopped here for now, no doubt waiting til later when I have to go and pick up TL Jr from her friend's.
I've had such a bad day again today so already hit the wine :D Good luck picking up Lil TL *) I really do know how bad it gets...
Yeah, we can't make it on a couple of high altitude er, performances, once or twice a year! We need Jake to get back to what he does best. Oh, that reminds me - imdb now have Brothers due for release on 4th December 2008,not 2009 anymore:D Could be a nice early Xmas present, assuming we get it here at the same time. And playusa now have Rendition available to order:D Which also reminds me of another of my favourite "words I like to hear Jake say": Malaga. And "mascara" and the name of the "bad guy" in Highway;D
Hey TL - can't you see my new post? That's the subject of it? Can you not see it?
