We have merchandise... PoP treats, sounds and back to the 60s

We have PoP merchandise! Well, not quite yet... but we will, and soon. The weekend after next Comic-Con descends on San Diego and, while the Prince of Persia movie is currently missing from the Disney schedules, it is missing in a tantalising way. As in a hide behind the sofa and leap out at the birthday girl yelling 'Surprise!' kind of way. What we do know is that goodies associated with the movie will be popping up and dancing seductively in front of our open wallets.

First off, we have The T-shirt. Twelve exclusive and closely guarded t-shirts will be unveiled for the discerning Comic-Con crowd. And the good news is 'The collection also includes classics from Mighty Mouse and a new design for the Spring 2010 Disney movie, "Prince of Persia".' Tempted as I am by a Mighty Mouse classic, I would need to have a PoP t-shirt for each day of the week. It's hard to imagine an occasion (or a pair of shoes) that a Jake Gyllenhaal t-shirt woudn't suit or match. The shirts will be available at the event but they will also be available, in limited numbers and at limited times, from Stylinonline. Keep watching...

And then we will have The Book. Jordan Mechner, the creative genius behind the Prince of Persia franchise, will be attending Comic-Con a week on Friday to discuss his new project, a second graphic PoP novel. However, as Jordan says on his blog, this book will not be about the game prince, 'the Disney book is firmly in the universe of the movie. It offered a chance to establish, and expand on, the characters’ world and back stories beyond what’s in the film.'

'The book is a prequel to the movie (I use the word “prequel” advisedly, for those who think time is like a river that flows swift and sure in one direction), with each chapter drawn by a different artist in a different style. It’ll be published next April as part of the Prince of Persia movie pre-launch.'

Jake and Reese didn't just attend a Hollywood Bowl concert last weekend, on the Friday they were seen at a much more low key event - a gig in Ojai to launch a CD, Granada Doaba, by Californian and Spanish hiphop band Gnawledge. They bought the CD and you can download the album here. Canyon Cody, a member of Gnawledge, took a picture of their famous guests that night.

And finally...

After yesterday's post, which included the new poster for An Education, I'm thrilled to see the trailer today. This film looks amazing - and at last I can hear Peter Sarsgaard's English accent again.

Includes pictures from IHJ and links.

hey, that's Walthamstow dog track in The Education trailer! A familiar landmark from a former stomping ground of mine. :D

Hey Rubes! Ahhh... a secret past :D (I'm being melodramatic after my harrowing wildlife dramas today) I was wondering if that was the dogs in Oxford but it looked too small. We're going to have to see this film :)

Ruby said...

It's definitely Walthamstow, you can see it on the traps as the race starts. It was closed down sometime after I left the area, but I assure you the two events were not connected. ;-)

I totally believe you, totally ;)

Hi Rubes and WDW! Of course I have no idea about the race track but would love for you to show me the area some day!

I want a POP T-Shirt!!!!!!

Peter's new movie looks GREAT - can't wait to see it!!

Thanks for all the great info today WDW...I have had no time to look up things on the internet lately so anything and everything you have been posting here has been news to me!

More later I hope....

:-)

And we'd love to show them to you, BBMISwear :-) I so want a PoP T-shirt... In every colour. I hope you get some rest time very soon :)

My goodness, An Education looks romantic, a coming of age romance. I love the music too, is that Sia singing? Peter's accent is very good, isn't it> At least to these American ears! :)

Of course, I want a PoP t-shirt too, and I'm interested in the graphic novel.

Hi there Anon :D An Education looks wonderfully romantic and Peter's such a good choice. His accent sounds pretty good in the trailer, it sounded a bit more dodgy when I spoke to him. I'm looking forward to seeing how it holds up for the whole movie. Looks so good!

I'm really interested in this graphic novel. I'm going to have to clear out a cupboard for all of the PoP stuff on the way :D

Have a good day everyone!

Good morning, wet dark!
I want a shirt of POP!
I have one of the Joker!

John Baker?
The Moneyball movie is back on, according to a report Thursday in Variety.

That means Marlins catcher John Baker is sure to get pestered again with questions about who will play him on the big screen.

"I have no idea,'' he said. "Maybe Jake Gyllenhaal?

Baker is one of the so-called "Moneyball players" featured in Michael Lewis' critically acclaimed book about the unorthodox draft methods used in 2002 by Oakland A's General Manager Billy Beane.

Beane will still be played by Brad Pitt. How about John Baker playing John Baker, who has a small but significant role in the book? After all, he was featured in Summer Catch, which ranks as one of the five worst sports movies ever made in 2001.

Have a great day!

Hi there Monica! Thanks for the link. I saw that and was interested as I went to a conference in 2007 where Billy Beane was the keynote speaker and, although I know nothing about the game, it was fascinating listening to him. He didn't look like Brad Pitt...

I saw someone in town last week with that Joker t-shirt! It looked very cool. I so want a PoP one :D

I hope everyone's having a good day!

I'm looking forward to seeing Brothers and I'm sure there will be plenty of interviews with Jake about both Brothers and POP (I won't be surprised if we'll be seeing his face on the cover of mags in the fall)

That pic looks like her kids were with them in Ojai.

thanks for the info WDW

I forgot to mention cute pic of J,R and kids in Ojai. It's nice that they have such a natural retreat to escape from HW and pap stress when they need to, and that they seem so earthy. Gnawledge sounds like interesting music. :)

The PoP graphic novel sounds fantastic, with several artists' work to accompany a story that catches the imagination.

PoP Merch?!?! COOL!

Glad to see we will get some promotion during ComicCon.

Thanks for The Education trailer. Looks really good. Peter's accent sounds good to me, but I will leave that to you authentic UKers. :)

Thanks for that info, Monica. Sounds interesting. Would love to see Jake and Brad Pitt in a movie together.

Have a great day/evening everyone. Almost Friday! ;p

Hi Flower :D I'm sorry about the hard week - I'm having one of those too :( I've been daydreaming all day of Jake as the Prince :)

Hey Sweetpea! I so hope we see pictures of Jake advertising his movies this autumn - it's been too long.

Hi Anon :D Gnawledge sounds like just the kind of music Jake would like - I love these local music events. Ojai sounds like quite an interesting place with a lot going on. I love the whole copcept of this graphic novel - can't wait to have it :D

Hey Geat Real! It's great thinking how much PoP merchandise is coming our way. I'll buy it all... I;d love to see Jake and Brad Pitt in a movie together, I really would :)

Just in time for Comic Con!
Giant Flying Squid Invade San Diego

Shhhhhhh said...

Oh no don't tell Jake or he might buy one in every color before the company closes.

crocs and calimari said...

Wow, sounds kinda scary, mostly the shoes! The giant squid are amazing. ;)

I can imagine WDW with a PoP shirt for every day of the week. I can even imagine WDW creating extra days of the week so as to have even more. ;-)

I'm sure Reese can fend for herself with the paps when she's out in public alone, but she has the children to protect (not that I've seen any indication that her children are terribly bothered by the paps). The funny thing is, not all chldren react to the attention in the same way. I can imagine Shirley Temple eating it up in her chld-star days.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hello everyone! What a day, big thunderstorms all day, one of which got me...

OMG Lol! Those giant squid are scary looking - are they tasty?

God forbid, shhhhhh :D Crocs going out of business? What a shame... ;)

It is, crocs and calimari!

Too right, Paul! It's a well know saying that you can never have enough Jake Gyllenhaal t-shirts... never enough...

paulh said...

Peter has *two* movies out: "Orphan," and "An Education."
I don't honestly hold out much hope for the first, but I hope WDW got a job as an extra in the second. ;-)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Paul! Loved to have been an extra in An Education (but very happy I saw some of it filmed :D) but not in Orphan - scary!!

Gnawledge said...

hello --> just for the record, I didn't take that picture of Jake and Reese at our CD release concert in Ojai. It was taken by my 14 year old younger brother Sunny Marley White -- check out his website @ http://sunnymarley.tumblr.com/

Thanks for posting the links to download our album. I offered to give Jake the CD for free but he insisted on paying for it.

PEACE, canyon cody / gnawledge / granada doaba

Hi there Gnawledge :D Your brother did a good job - whenever I've tried to take a pic of Jake the camera gets this mechanical, shaking malfunction - can't imagine why... That was nice of Jake to pay :D I enjoyed looking round your site and listening to your music. I'm really glad you popped by! Thanks!
