Jake Gyllenhaal shopping in Hollywood (4 September). Wannabe on the horizon? Nailed Complete?

Jake Gyllenhaal was out and about shopping in Hollywood yesterday (Friday 4 September), looking so fine no-one can keep their eyes off him, even the model posters. Notice how I'm not mentioning that Jake needs jeans that fit. Many thanks to IHJ for the new pictures.

And today there was this: 'Eric Eason, who wrote and directed the award-winning indie feature Manito, will rewrite and direct Intermedia Films' Wannabe. Jake Gyllenhaal is eyeing the project but no deals are yet in place and there is no start date for the film. The film is described as a modern-day mob story based on the offspring of mobsters who defy the traditions and protocols of their elders and embark on their own bloody paths. The project was originally based on a New Yorker magazine article by Mike McAlary and adapted by CSI creator Anthony Zuiker.'

I have to say mobster movies are not my thing whenever they are set, but it may explain the hats.

ProIMDb has now changed Nailed's status from unknown to completed. Whether this means anything or not is another matter, but here's hoping it means a lot.

Pictures from IHJ.

So many pictures and information.

He is slim, but still sexy and hot!

Another movie for Jake? This movie seems interesting!
Perhaps the first villain for Jake??

Fingers crossed for Nailed!

I need to read the previous posts!

(((Monica)))! So goo dot see you :) I was thinking about you only this morning. I hope things are ok. I hope you enjoy catching up on the posts - Jake is looking sooo good!

A villain role would be good. I do think Jake wants to play a gangster.

I do think this is a good sign for Nailed but, as always, a waiting game for more certain news.

So good to see you here - take care xx

My word is herbti :)

Hi! I think mobster movie sounds good! Would love him doing something like that... I still think he would have been wonderful in Leonardo DiCaprio's role in The Departed...

Hm, Nailed finally listed as completed? I hope that is a good sign! LOL, do you remember the release date for Ukraine? Some time after July 23rd (I think that was the date) I checked IMDB and it was still listed (maybe it still is...) I wonder if Jake was there for the premiere in the Ukraine? Strange that we haven't heard anything... :D :D :D

LOL, I think I am going crazy... In the pics of Jake coming from the medical center I focused entirely on his beautiful legs... And in these new photos I cannot help but stare at his arms... Damn! They are nice!! What? Jake has a face, too? :D :D :D
I am still wondering what is up with his hair... Can't wait to see him starting filming with Anne! I hope we get lovely pics of them together! ;D

Thanks a lot for the scans from Interview and Marie Claire yesterday, WDW!!! I liked the interview of Jake and Natalie a lot..
And what Maggie had to say about Jake gave me a strange feeling... :-/
And her talking about Heath... I wonder how it will be for Jake when he does the Brothers promo... Will they ask him? How will he handle it? Or will he not allow questions about Heath? Hm...

I hope you are not too jetlagged anymore, WDW! Extra hugs for (((Monica)))! And I hope everybody has a good weekend!

Monica said...

I think the questions about Heath will be inevitable. Remember that he deals with the death of his brother in the movie ...
I think that even if Jake does not want to answer a direct question about Heath, he will have to talk about death and they will surely join the Heath.
This is complicated!

I remembered this video of Maggie and papapazzi's:
Maggie vrs. paparazzi

thanks, Uli!

I like the idea of Jake as a Billy-in-The-Departed type character too. Wannabe sounds interesting. :)

I loved his beautiful, au natural legs in those blue-shirt pics too. :)

Hi Uli! Oh that 23 July date was such a laugh! I'm amazed it's still up there. I wonder what it all means.... but I'm forever hopeful as far as Nailed goes.

I can honestly say, without any doubt of contradiction, that Jake does have a face. So maybe you should look at it!!!

I am so looking forward to seeing Jake with Anne - on the big screen and in pics. Just amazing that they'll be working together again.

I am very jetlaggy. I'm trying desperately to stay awake til bedtime. I blame all poor spelling in these comments on the Atlantic Ocean.

I think it will be very complicated for Jake, Monica, although I hope the focus will always be on Jake's films. But the you'd have thought in Marie Claire that the emphasis would have been on Maggie. But not so.

Hi Anon! Jake's legs looked good in those pics - I'm not feeling much for the jeans in these new pics. But the face more than makes up for that!

I'm not so keen on this sort of role, I've not even seen Departed for that reason, but I would of course enjoy seeing Jake in anything and would always expect to be amazed by what he brings to it. Obviously scifi's better :DD

Yes, I think Jake would be good in just about anything.

Just think of all the promos we have to look forward too! I hope they go easy on him with the Heath questions - it's hard to talk about. :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

And it just occurred to me, Anon, that we still haven't heard Jake's PoP accent! All these treats with a new film. I hope they go easy on him too.

Hi, WDW

I don't especially like violent films either, but I'll have to see "Inglorious Basterds" at some point because of a potential Oscar-caliber performance in it.

I just got back from "All about Steve, which was enjoyable if a bit silly. The Jake link was Beth Grant, who plays Sandra Bullock's mother. She also played Donnie Darko's teacher.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Paul :D I'm still getting over seeing District 9 last week, which was absolutely incredible but just horrifying. I would like to see Inglorious Basterds though. Jake in a very violent film would be something I'd have to deal with!

I like Sandra Bullock but I've not heard of this film - they often come out so late over here. I quite like films that are a little silly :)

A metter of perspective: said...

Anon 20:30, IMHO: There is no reason in the world for the media to ask Jake any questions about Heath while he is promoting Brothers. None.

They asked Maggie about Heath because she was actually working with Heath in The Dark Knight, and had to promote the movie along with everyone else in it, after he died. She and Peter and Ramona also lived very near by in Brooklyn during that small period of time as well.

Maggie's a pretty sharp lady. She was not fooled by any feigned "concern" on the part of the journalists. They were simply looking for the juicy tidbit, new information, a new angle. Happily, she didn't give them anything.

Jake is promoting a movie. Period. With Tobey, Jim Sheridan, Sam Shepherd, and Natalie. None of it has a single thing to do with Heath.

If Jake wants to discuss his private, personal relationships and his emotions, he will do it in his own time if he choses. He has excellent PR people who are very protective of him, fortunately.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi there - There is never any avoidance of the fact (and nor should there be) that Jake, like his sister, has worked with Heath. As such, journalists will continue to be interested and perhaps ask Jake, like Maggie, inappropriate questions. The premise of the interview - whether it be for Brothers, PoP or Away We Go - may be an irrelevance to some interviewers. However, also like Maggie, Jake is fortunately more than able to fend them off with or without the aid of his 'excellent PR people'. All anyone is doing here is expressing warmth and feeling for Jake.

Anonymous said...

I understand, Matter of Perspective, and I certainly hope you are right. But you just never know about the media and their inappropriate questions. I agree with WDW, we were just expressing concern about it. If he doesn't want to talk about it or personal matters, it's perfectly understandable is all I meant. Hopefully they'll stick with the matters at hand, his movies. :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Definitely, Anon :D There's so much I want to hear Jake say about Brothers and PoP!

Monica said...

I watched The Departed. It's a great movie, but it is not very violent.

I like many movies with scenes of violence. Seven and Pulp Fiction are two of my favorites!

Anyone here seen Irreversible??

matter of perspective said...

Anne Hathaway worked with Heath too,in BBM. Kate Hudson "worked with Heath," Rufus Sewell, Paul Bettany,Joseph Gordon Levitt, Cate Blanchett, etc. and dozens of other people, but the journos don't ask them about Heath. Because like Jake, the films they did together were years ago. (Four years ago.)

They've asked Maggie,
because Heath died just as the publcity roll out for TDK began. He just got his Oscar for it this year. She was involved. They're looking for something salacious and not yet known. They only ask because they want dirt. They hoped she would be as talkative as Terry Gilliam who pulls things out of hidden crevasses in places other than his brain.

What is the point to asking Jake anything about Heath. Just how would it be framed? "BTW, Heath died while you were working on your movie, didn't he? How did it affect your performance? Which scene did you shoot after you heard the news? Did you really collapse? Did they really shut down the production for a week for you? Did you cry? The world wants to know!"

I wonder if they will remember to ask Jake about Paul Newman. No sense overlooking him.
Sorry. I hate the media's sense of entitlement and insincerity and exploitive nature of some of Heath's so-called associates and "friends." And I certainly don't put Jake or Magge in that category.
Also, I know my opinion is not universally shared, but I want to be on the record on what I feel is appropriate and what I feel violates a person's boundaries. I think sometimes, we the public take things for granted. I am not singling anyone on here out at all. I apologize if anyone was offended or upset by my comments. They were much more "global".

Monica said...

Jake and Heath acted together in Brokeback Mountain. One of the most remarkable films in history of cinema. One of the most memorable couples in the history of cinema.

Jake is Matilda's godfather and one of the best friends of Heath.

It was very different from what occurred between Heath and other actors.

Do you think they will not give a way to ask something about Heath? Or something that is related about his death?

In my opinion, Jake should keep the silence. But I find it impossible.

Anonymous said...

I severely disagree with this remark "Notice how I'm not mentioning that Jake needs jeans that fit." I think his jeans are the perfect fit on him. Not too snug and not too lose; just perfect. It sure leaves me more to imagine... Hahaha Whoops! Was I being too graphic?

TD said...

Fascinating comments.
Jake's jeans are too loose but like anything he wears, still look great.
'New directions' for mobsters usually involve amoral (as opposed to just immoral - or is that the wrong way round) violence and drugs, dont they? I don't like the sound of Wannabe unless 'new directions' includes some sort of new code of ethics for mobsters. Perhaps they could deal in 'rare earth metals' and then all die of blood poisoning? Watching nasty people doing nasty things to nasty people is so cool, isn't it? Like paparazzi and movie stars.
Life is just too short.

TD said...

PS Not that Jake is nasty. He's hot!

PPS thank you for the magnificent scanning effort!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Matter of Perspective :D I absolutely agree that there is no point whatsoever in the Brothers and PoP interviewers asking Jake about Heath. It would be completely inappropriate. However, I also think, like Monica below, that Brokeback Mountain is not comparable with TDK and people will always be interested in Jake and Heath. Jake will be asked about Brokeback for his entire career.

I think your opinion is more shared than you give it credit for. I'm no fan of the media's 'sense of entitlement' either. I'm glad of the head that Jake has on his shoulders, and Maggie too. Thanks for such an interesting comment :)

Morning Monica! I think Jake will be able to keep his silence. As I said above, I think the Jack and Ennis pairing was a truly significant pairing in cinema and not easily forgotten.

Dailing, you make me laugh! Those jeans are way too big and floppy :D I like something a little more defined... ahem...

Hi TD! I'm not a mobster film fan at all. I hardly ever see any but those I have are too violent and I care about nobody in them. Ethical mobsters! Like that :D

Thanks so much about the scans! I pulled a few muscles, I can tell you. I really need to rethink my Jaking work station.

I hope everyone has a good day!

As there has been no public comment from him about Heath's death (because it was personal and private) and has been criticized for it someone may ask, but think Jake will not say anything if he doesn't want to, and if he does, he will.
Because of "Brothers" and because it was right at the end of him making the movie that Heath died someone may mention that But then, as we know with some interviewers, they aren't aware of things so maybe they won't know that.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Anon :) definitely Jake won't say anything he doesn't want to.

I hope everyone's having a good Sunday - I'm actually unpacking! I may even put things away...

Anonymous said...

Hey, WDW, glad you made it home OK. Good luck with the unpacking, that's the part I hate the most about a trip. Thanks for the scans, we appreciate all the work it took you. :)

I have to agree with you about the jeans. Too long and too baggy. They do leave a lot to the imagination but it's too much for me when they make me wonder if Jake actually has a butt somewhere in there! :D

About Heath, I agree with Monica (good to see you Monica, I hope you're doing OK). There are things that link Heath and Jake in a very special way. And since Heath died during the filming of Brothers and Jake to this day hasn't commented publicly on his passing, I wouldn't be surprised if some interviewers want to talk about Heath. I agree it's none of our business and Jake should talk about Heath only if he wants too, but a small part of me still wishes he would have said something back then and probably always will. Hearing people who knew Heath talk about him and say how special he was made me feel better and since I'm a brokie, I was hoping to hear something from Jake. Now, I know that's selfish so please don't anyone take this as a critic of Jake. It's not.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi there Olympia! Kind of unpacked... I hate that side of things too.

I think Jake has no desire to share any personal feelings on such matters with us and, of course, we want to know more about what he thinks about anything(!). But I do know it's not our right to know and that it's Jake's right not to tell us. I don't want Jake to feel pursued on some subjects because I want him to keep talking about other things - if you see what I mean. I'm talking in convoluted sentences because I'm still very jetlagged :D

I nearly named the post 'JG has lost his bum'! Those jeans are not at all flattering :D

Anonymous said...

Don't make me name them at the moment but it seems to me that there were people who worked with Heath i realized as time went on did not hear public statements from them.
I can rem. interviews at various events where people were asked about Heath and they made their comments and I don't think any or many of them ever worked with him and did not know him on a personal level.
In public comments we didn't hear Jake make a comment about his parents divorce or the death of his grandmother or any actual comments about his relationship with Reese.
Not that eventually he might say something if he feels comfortable about it, but it seems he considers this personal business and there is no reason to make a statement about it. There are others who you see quoted all the time about things in their personal lives and if that's how they want to do it - up to them.
There is no one standard that everyone has to go by.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Anon - I agree. We're all individuals and I like that Jake keeps his own life quiet but is very open about the things that really draw me to him - what makes him act and how he feels about the world around him. Those thoughts he seems happy to share - I lie that :)

paulh said...

Now I'm wondering if I should have said something about the jeans. I like pants that are loose, because they're comfortable. Maybe Jake likes it that way, too. If you're out doing errands or just messing around, and you don't know whether there will be photographers around, why would you wear less comfortable clothing?

There's an interesting anecdote that Maggie told about the early days when she was just beginning to become famous. She went out on some errand, and some paps began shooting pictures of her, and it made her feel self-conscious, windering whether she should have worn something more presentable.

Hey WDW!! Haven't posted here in a while but I have been keeping up with the posts everyday. Hope everyone is doing well! That's great news about Nailed..fingers crossed that it is true.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Good morning everyone! I'm not doing too badly on 90 minutes' sleep... Waking up to find a giant furry dead spider in the washing up bowl was a pleasant surprise.

Hi Paul! I like Jake to be comfortable but I also like to be able to see his bum :D We must work on a compromise! Generally, I really like Maggie's clothes when she's off-duty.

Hey Nicole! Good to see you. Very glad to hear you're still about. My fingers, like yours, are crossed for Nailed. We need to see you on the big screen :D

Have a good day everyone - whether it's a holiday or back at work... :)

Jake looks like he lost weight, probably for his new films. The jeans aren't new. When women loose/gain weight they buy new clothes, when men do it, they wear the same old clothes. Jake doesn't have much of a but to begi with o there you go.

And regards to Heath questions: HJake and his PR canjust instruct the interviewer that subjuect is off-limits, problem solved.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Anon :) Jake has regularly had the habit of wearing oversize jeans whatever his size. It is a shame because I'm sure he has a lovely bum :D
