Source Code is out in Australia and NZ! Jake Gyllenhaal on Sunrise and some new stills

Source Code is now open for business in Australia and New Zealand! Tomorrow it reaches Poland. I'd hate to distract anyone in these countries from going to see this critically acclaimed film (not least because it may be the last time you see Jake Gyllenhaal on the big screen for a while - and definitely the last time you'll see him on the big screen for a while with hair and not wearing big boots) but here is a post. Jake started Australia's Source Code day with a TV appearance (pre-recorded) on Sunrise. You can watch the video here.


Am I the only person to wonder where this US woman kept her injured kangaroo? Did she take it back on the plane with her? Did she have to buy an extra seat?

The opening of Source Code has led to the re-release of this interview across Australia's media. It's definitely worth another look.


McKino

The other day we learned that Jake may well have popped in to the New Orleans' McDonalds. Horror (mostly only from me) ensued. With some kind of kismet comes the news from that you can find in German McDonalds issues of the Kino magazine with Jake on the cover! This comment led me to the Kino site where I found this brief video about Jake's view of Anne Hathaway's Oscars.


Vote!

Today is election day in the UK - not a general election but votes for electoral reform (our first referendum in my voting lifetime and local elections). It seems fitting therefore that PoPSugar have urged me to encourage everyone to vote for Jake in their new poll for all time favourite stars. Be enfranchised! You know what Jake would say... VOTE!


And finally...

Jake is loved by someone who won American Idol once (having never heard of the 'someone' or seen the 'Idol'). Nevertheless, all GyllenLove is GoodLove.

After an extremely productive day working out which New Year Resolutions to break first and which clothes have to be given to the charity shop in order to make my PoP collectibles more comfortable, and before I embark on Phase 2 of the physical and mental clearout, time for a quick catch-up with Jake Gyllenhaal: Jake's on a train.

This audio interview below with the Perth radio station Nova, is a joyful and no holds barred celebration of what matters about Love and Other Drugs (and it's not the story or the romance). I particularly enjoyed Jake's description of making mixtapes in the days before 'drag and drop'. There is also a lovely moment when Jake and Anne are told how highly Perth regards them because they were in Brokeback with Heath and this is his town.

[Updated] Jake Gyllenhaal hosts a screening of Michelle William's Blue Valentine in LA, chemistry, and Josh and Jake

Jake Gyllenhaal hosted a Los Angeles screening of Blue Valentine for Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling last night. This means a wonderful and very rare opportunity to see Jake and Michelle in a photograph together. It's great to know that Jake is contributing to the push for Blue Valentine and supporting Michelle.




It really is good to see Jake alongside Ryan Gosling, an actor for whom Jake has repeatedly stated his admiration. Source.


Another Brokeback co-star, Anne Hathaway, is on the cover of Gotham this month and she has some sensible words to say about Jake: '“If you don’t have chemistry with Jake Gyllenhaal, then there’s probably something wrong with you, because he is the most insanely charismatic man. All you have to do is listen to him and you’re instantly charmed.” As more evidence of this effortless chemistry, this post includes new stills from Love and Other Drugs.


We also have a scan (thanks BBMISwear!) from the new issue of EW which includes some feedback on the famous Jake and Anne cover. It makes for an excellent excuse to see them all again...


Comic Josh Gad has been talking about his Brokeback Mountain-ish relationship with Jake in this very funny interview. '"I think I was the obvious choice to play Jake Gyllenhaal's brother," jokes Gad. "When you look at the head shots side by side, it's not a very difficult decision for casting to make."'


'"The most important thing to me was getting that authenticity of that relationship with Jake," says Gad. "So, I would go over to his apartment, which made my hotel room seem like that rundown hotel that Josh Brolin is in in 'No Country for Old Men.' We would hang out almost too much, to the point where I was getting annoyed, where I was like, 'I really need a break from Jake Gyllenhaal.'"'


'But pray tell, what was it that ultimately peeved Gad, causing him to run back to his wife of two years for comfort? Was it the intensity of Gyllenhaal's impish grin? The thickness of his Muppet-quality eyebrows? Did he force his costar to sit through repeated viewings of "Prince of Persia"? Gad didn't say exactly. "It was becoming 'Brokeback Mountain'-ish," he laughs. "I love Jake to death, but too much Jake is not a good thing."'



It's now quite likely that as we speak, Jake and Anne are putting in some serious airmiles as they head down under for Monday's Sydney premiere. Maybe they can catch some cricket...
