Peter Sarsgaard at TIFF, Maggie Gyllenhaal in You magazine, and Jake and Maggie catch up in NYC?

After all the excitement of the last couple of days - tigers, snakes, a leaping, rolling Jake Gyllenhaal, collapsing caves and costumes with more belts than you can shake a cat at - it's time to catch up with what Maggie and Peter have been up to. Which is good, as it's a lot.

On 10 September, An Education continued to seduce critics and filmgoers, this time at the Toronto Film festival. If you can't see the video interview below with Peter Sarsgaard, Carey Mulligan and Vizier Alfred Molina, you can find it here.

Peter and Carey also caught up with Penelope Cruz. Peter himself has interested one reporter in particular. Peter speaks about Carey, a remarkabe young actress with whom he acted in The Seagull and who we will also see with Jake Gyllenhaal in Brothers, here.

Maggie has also been busy with the media. Away We Go may be soon out on DVD in the US but it will only just be reaching the UK theatres this coming week. It was a very pleasant surprise to discover Maggie on the cover of You Magazine in today's Mail on Sunday. It's also a very interesting interview with one mention of Jake: 'During our conversation she refers to him affectionately several times. ‘He’s my brother. I love him. He’s taking a rest right now and starts working in the autumn near where we are, so we’ll see each other a lot.’' It also contains another fine tribute to Naomi Foner, Maggie and Jake's mother - 'the single biggest influence on my life'. You can read most of the interview here and see it all in the (clickable) scans below. Notice how I'm not mentioning the jungle outfit.

Rather coincidentally, Tweeters are suggesting that Maggie and Jake are indeed in New York together at the moment. One tweet has Jake, Maggie and Reese dining at Frannys in Brooklyn and another has Jake at Gorilla Coffee. Big thanks to a tweeter for actually getting a picture of Jake and Reese this morning, in Tribeca, NYC. Thanks to Monica for the heads up!

Maggie has also been interviewed by the Scotsman - which managed to annoy her - but produced a fine quote from Maggie about working with Peter: '"I always knew he was a brilliant actor," she says. "We could have a great marriage and not be able to work together, but it just came so easily to us and it was such a pleasure. I've never been more inspired and excited."'

Another interview was for Working Mother: 'One huge help has been my mother. She came to take care of Ramona while I worked on a movie recently. She stayed for a couple of weeks, and she was unbelievable, an absolute lifesaver. She told me: “I want to give you something I never had. I want to give you the luxury of knowing that your child is absolutely safe and being cared for and loved so that you can go do what you need to do and be totally free.” She gave me that for that couple of weeks, and I needed it so badly. I needed to go and do something for myself.'

'It’s important for children to know that their parents are fulfilled, expressing themselves and happy in their own lives. I want to give my daughter the same gift that my mom and my grandmother gave to me, which is the knowledge that, as a woman, I can do anything professionally and personally. I have everything open to me. But that doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy.'

Maggie is a frequent attendee of New York Fashion Week and this year she presented an award to the designer of her wedding dress, Dries Van Noten: '"He's probably my favourite designer right now. I love everything he makes," actress Maggie Gyllenhaal told VOGUE.COM of Dries Van Noten as the designer was honoured at the Fashion Institute of Technology's fourth annual Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion benefit luncheon, yesterday at Cipriani on 42nd Street, New York. "I love his prints and his fabrics and the unusual quality of all of his clothes. He's designed some really beautiful things for me and I'm very grateful for that, which is why I'm here."'

The New York Observer: 'When Ms. Gyllenhaal went up to present the award, she got shy. "I am a little nervous about being here today because I am not officially a part of the fashion world, but I like clothes a lot," she began. She proceeded to tell a story about the time she asked Mr. van Noten to design her wedding dress in May for her wedding in Italy to actor Peter Sarsgaard. She described exactly what she wanted over the phone. But when the frock arrived a week before the wedding: "This is nothing like what I was picturing!" she thought. And not in a good way. But a week later, when Ms. Gyllenhaal took Mr. van Noten's creation out of the box again and put it on, she changed her mind. "It's like he knows better than I do what is beautiful and sexy on me!"'

Finally, the prospect of Love and Other Drugs beginning filming in Pittsburgh is not just exciting for us. I enjoyed reading this report by a blogger fortunate enough to win a role.

LOL! I hope you keep an eye for us on that lucky girl's blog, I really like the way she thinks! :DDD She's definitely a gyllenhaalic.

It's always nice to get news of Maggie and Peter. I'm glad they'll get a lot of time to see Jake while he's filming LOD.

This was a lovely post about Maggie, WDW. Jake wears Dries Van Noten, too. He was in slacks by Dries for a photoshoot a little while ago.

Some lovely pics of Maggie. I'm also very much looking forward to An Education. Great news about PoP too - the costumes are beautiful, you can almost see the motion in them. It's going to be a long wait until 2010. :-/ But at least we'll have some great movies, like Brothers and An Education. I also had heard Maggie is going to be in a film called Crazy Hearts? That sounds good too. :)

Hi Olympia! It's great to know that Jake's seeing something of Peter and Maggie in NYC. It'll be nice for them all with Jake filming so close.

Thanks, Anon! And thanks for the snippet about Jake and Van Noten.

Hey Bertie! I'm starting to think that the time until PoP arrives will fly by, what with Brothers and stories from Love and Other Drugs' filming, and maybe even Nailed. It's going to be a good year! Crazy Hearts sounds so good :)

I hope everyone's having a good evening/afternoon. I'm suffering the consequences of gorging myself on pancakes... :/

Just catching up on all the weekend posts now. So much happening.

I'm really looking forward to seeing An Education. I just finished Reading Lynn Barber's book on which the movie is based and it's a really good read.

Just saw that Oliver Platt has joined the cast of Love and Other Drugs.

Hope everyone is having a good Monday.

I finally had a chance to get a close-up view of Jake's costume for PoP - the one with the long coat? Just gorgeous detail - the stitching, the ethnic neckline on the shirt, what reminds me of Spanish silver concha motifs on the belt. Just gorgeous. Really gets the imagination going. Gemma's is like butterfly wings - so diaphanous and makes ya think of flight. Beautiful.

Hi Anon! It's wonderful isn't it?! Those costumes have completely caught my imagination, and especially that long coat. It's great to be able to have a better look. And I love the construction of Gemma's gown. This movie will be a feast for the senses!

Great, Great, Great stuff on Maggie and Peter WDW...thank you! Plus, I love hearing about Jake spending time in NYC!

Still smiling at the various comments over the weekend...the ailments when being close to Jake especially. Maybe we need Paul to join us the next time we plan to see Jake somewhere (he may be able to keep us somewhat grounded)! LOL!

It's fun to see people still commenting on our Massachusetts trip here and there...what other Jake movies should we tour together?! Ha Ha! Never enough time, never enough.

Tweeter sightings are great but I want more pictures!!! I'm sure many agree here :-)

Hey BBMISwear! I do love seeing something of Peter and Maggie :D And knowing Jake is in NYC too is so good. Get your cameras out, people!!

I'd love to tour these movies (could be hard re-enacting TDAT and maybe not for Rendition) but we can do it! I would love to do a Zodiac trip :D If only I'd have thought when I was in Vegas a couple of years ago about Bubble Boy.

Picture! Give me pictures! :-)

New post and I'm ready for a nap... Mondays are not good for me. My word is duckem.
