Before I even start this special post, I must thank all of you who contributed to the birthday video gift to me, with all your messages. What an amazing thing to give me! To receive a gift of such value has knocked me out and I'm so happy - and not a little weepy... Thank you, thank you, dear friends! I hope you don't mind me sharing the card and video here - I'm just so proud of them! Thank you, TL.
On with the post...!
Today is Wet Dark and Wild's Birthday - I cannot believe how fast this year has gone and I am truly grateful for the friendships I have made along the way. But not only that, through posting here and discussing Jake's projects and ideas - always the emphasis of this site - I have learned so much about the world of film. More than that - I have been encouraged to visit some of the world's greatest film festivals and experience the true thrill of Jake Gyllenhaal the actor and moviestar - on screen and on the red carpet. Thank you so, so much for making this last year so incredible and life-changing and here's to the next year and all that it may bring.
To mark WDW's birthday, this post is the first of just a few to mark the highlights of the year - this one features one (or two) chosen post for each of the months. No doubt, you may have other favourite memories from the last year - please share them with me and with everyone else.
April 2007
Early days and I was barely learning on my feet, but this was my favourite post of the month - our first glimpse of Uncle Jake with Ramona and Maggie.
May 2007
How could May be anything but Cannes, and an amazing pointing, listening, cheering encounter with Jake on the beautiful red steps of the Palais? Unbelievable, really unbelievable. As a result, there are two posts here from Cannes - here is my elated post the day after the fabulous May 17. And the second post gives more details on the amazing day, along with my 'best' picture of Jake, David Fincher, Chloe and Mark and Mark's lovely wife Sunshine.
June 2007
Obviously this is going to be difficult, because June also has two posts... Firstly, the totally unexpected and sensational appearance of Jake on stage with Rufus Wainwright in NYC. The other post I particularly enjoyed doing was the one looking at the music of Zodiac.
July 2007
During July, I attended Live Earth, the huge concert at Wembley, which aimed to raise awareness for environmental issues while giving Chris Rock the opportunity to use the kind of language that makes one say 'Did he really say that?' This gave me the chance to have a look at Jake the Greenie.
August 2007
August was quiet and so I had time to explore Jake's motivations and choices through his career, but I think we were all happy when he showed up on Martha's Vineyard, rolled trouser legs and all.
But one of the highlights of the entire year was our discussion of Jake's incredible early performance in October Sky. The response to the two posts was extremely memorable.
September 2007
In September, Jake reappeared on the public stage, this time in Toronto. An amazing experience and so there can be only one choice for favourite post for this magical month. I will remember my weekend in steamy hot Toronto for the rest of my life.
We also got to see the new pictures of Jake in Interview magazine during September and I'm sure I'm not the only person who was captivated by the Wood Chopper.
October 2007
In October 2007, the Rendition roadshow moved on to Rome, one of my favourite cities, which meant I was able again to sit in the same theatre as Jake and cheer his film on. It was also great to see the Gorgeous Kelley Sane again as well as the occasional monument. Blimey, it was cold...
November 2007
The rumours about Nailed resurfaced in November and, even though we'd heard from Jake's own lips that he was getting ready for The Moon Project, Nailed was becoming a reality, albeit a suspect one. This post also featured one of the many interviews that Jake crammed into his flying visit to the UK in October. Talking of the UK, Jake knows how to get about the streets of London when he's here.
December 2007
Two posts stand out in my mind for December. New Year's Eve saw my birthday and so I used that as an excuse to look back on a landmark event of 2007 - the BAFTAs in Covent Garden, London, and the first time I saw Jake.
Other posts that I particularly remember during this special month were rememberances of TIFF and the first and only glimpse of Jake - tattoos and all - on the set of Brothers.
January 2008
January brought with it a shock. On 22 January, totally unexpectedly, Heath Ledger died and knocked the ground from under us.
February 2008
In February, I went for a break to Los Angeles. Previously, when I've been to LA, Jake has always done his best to avoid me - this time, Jake tried with all his might to be just a few hours behind, almost driving me to distraction. Beginning with the Night Before Party - from which I was ejected - and ending with a near miss at LAX, the biggest 'not meant to be' situation occurred at Urth cafe on South Beverly Drive. We were just hours apart.
I can't complain though. I saw Orlando Bloom, Nicole Kidman, Mary J Blige and Christina Applegate in the Polo Lounge and saw Liam Gallagher in the Beverley Hilton's sushi lounge. I also had a lot of fun chatting with the barman about his lovely encounter with Tom and Suri Cruise earlier that day.
March 2008
March was marred by Jake's injury. It wasn't pleasant to see him on crutches and it appeared to be very frustrating for Jake himself. To distract ourselves, I enjoyed writing a post on kissing Jake. I also revisited a favourite interview with Jake about Jack Twist, recorded during the Venice Film Festival.
April 2008
Columbia, South Carolina, was taken over by the production of Nailed in April. Many of us are far away but we were able to reach out to Jake on set thanks to Nicole who not only met Jake on the set but gave him a note which included messages from us. An amazing experience and a huge highlight of 2008. Nicole also took photographs and videos, which is no mean feat when coming face to face with Jake Gyllenhaal, I can assure you.
Also in April, I was walking to work and, completely unexpectedly, I came across the set of An Educaton. I thought they were filming in London, but no they were in Oxford, and so I enjoyed a great encounter, not to mention hug, with Peter Sarsgaard. You just never can tell what will happen.
This past glorious year has been full of surprises and memorable adventures, experienced by me and by the readers of WDW. Who knows what will happen in the coming twelve months? I can only thank you all for being there with me as we find out.
This post is dedicated to all of the dear friends I have made over the year. It is also dedicated to Mr WDW who has been a constant source of encouragement throughout the year and has never complained (well, hardly...) about the passion of his Mrs. He seems to know it makes sense. Last but not least, it is dedicated to Jake, without whom...
Pictures from IHJ, WDW and Nicole.
I must thank TL, Ruby, and everyone else who was involved in creating the amazing video gift to me. I will treasure it. Here's to the next year, here's to you and here's to Jake!
ReplyDeleteMy congratulations, Wet Dark!
ReplyDeleteI discovered this blog in May and was passionate.
Many of the things we did not know Jake discovered through this blog.
It is a pleasure to be part of this place.
kisses
Thank you MOnica! That's lovely :D I am so glad you've found out thinkgs about Jake here, I know I certainly have. Thank you :D x

ReplyDeleteGoodnight TL and thank you :D see you tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday WDW!!!! And Many Happy Returns! I recall with pleasure the day you told me a little secret in my ear about the birth of your blog. My - the baby's grown!
ReplyDeleteWishing you loads of luck in your venture in the years to come!
Love & XOXO
Incognita
Aww Kate, we love you. I am so glad that you enjoyed your little tribute. TL did such a wonderful job.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you hard work on your daily posts. I still don't know how you do it.
There have been so many great posts in the few months I have been frequenting your site. I don't think that I can pick a fav. I think when you really pulled me in was at a horrible time. It was when our dear Heath passed away. I have never felt so close to people so far away. I can honestly say that ya'll got me through it. I was to the point where I almost couldn't leave the house. And for your lovely words I am truly grateful.
Happy Anniversary Wet Dark and Wild. Here's to many more.
-Kate (#2)
Kate, congratulations on your first year of WDW! Has it really been a year? What a great job, TL and everyone, on the anniversary video too! I'm a day late, a buck short, almost missed the boat, a little scattered this week - but sincere when I say how much I enjoy your writing and this blog. It's one of the best Jake blogs there, full of love, admiration, and respect for our favorite actor, Jake. You always have the best info, I can't get enough of it, and the BBM posts of course. Jake took my breath away then, in BBM, and in everything else since, and I'm happy to know that others feel exactly the same way I do.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a great year for WDW, too many wonderful moments to count, and one terribly sad. I'm proud to be part of WDW too, and here's to many more years of following our favorite guy (well, next to my long-suffering hub) Hey, he's not losin' any sleep over it. ;)
Cheers! and lots of good wishes -
Love,
Bertie :*
Happy Birthday WDW!! Ever since I discovered this blog not too long ago I have seriously been addicted to it! It's where I find all my Jake info and chat with all these WONDERFUL people!! It feels great to share my Jake experience with you! I really appreciate all the great posts and here's to many more to come!! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Wet Dark and Wild. I've enjoyed this blog pretty much since it started, visiting several times a day quite often. This site is always classy, well informed and continuously surprises me with bits of Jakeabilia that I never knew or hadn't considered in any detail. Keep up the terrific work. Jake is lucky to have a site like this one dedicated to him.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations WDW, and here's to many more to come! :*
ReplyDeleteI loved your blog from the beginning, its right balance between enthousiasm and measure, between respect and passion.
When things are going crazy (and we had some truly crazy moments in the past year, and not all in a good way) I come here and take a breath of fresh air. Ahhhh! Better....;)
Thank you for your extraordinary job, WDW! :)
I'm waiting for a second (luckier) chance with Jake here in Italy, and I hope you'll want to share a glass of Italian red and some serious Italian food with me once again. :)
Love. Xenia
WDW, Happy Anniversary!!
ReplyDeleteI can't thank you enough for always being there with the latest and most accurate Jake news consistently.
Whenever I want to know what's what with Jake, it's here I come, confident of the warm and friendly atmosphere I'm going to find when I get here. That's no small accomplishment!
Informative, respectful, relaxed, funny, the list goes on.....
I enjoyed this walk down memory lane today, and I'm looking forward to more!
Cheers...Enjoy your day...and Thank YOU!!!!
Rosie
Morning everyone on a very happy day :D The best thing about the site is all of you and without all of you some things would have been far more difficult to bear. And it's always so great to share the good times. However new anyone is to the site, I'm just glad you're here :D
ReplyDeletehave a great day everyone :D
Congratulations and Happy Birthday!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great retrospective, I'll indulge properly tomorrow. Not enough time today :)
See you later (yes it's me)

Hey is still the party on?! :D I'm definitely in a celebrating mood today! So *HAPPY BIRTHDAY WDW*! ;D Here's to many more to come!
ReplyDeleteI'm one of the last to have come on board but really glad to have joined you all. And on this day of course a special huge thank you goes to you WDW, for this great blog, for the great work you do and the passion you put into it everyday to keep us up to date (it's amazing how many things I'm learning about my darling Jake here) and to make this a place where to share our gyllenhaalism with passion and respect :)
And I want to take the occasion to thank TL too (and everyone involved in the "project"!) for making part of the video-gift :)
Hugs, Sonia xxx
CONGRATULATIONS WDW, on a wonderful site. I think I started the party a bit too early and after two drinks I was out for the count (very cheap date). Thanks to TL and Ruby who have made this extra special not just for you but for us to.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a fabulous year for you. Cannes, Toronto, Rome, LA, did I miss anywhere? And 3 out of 4 encounters ain't bad;. All the new/old interviews, video and audios we didn't know existed are here that helps us get to know 'That Actor Fellow' a little bit better.
I visit it first thing in the morning and last thing at night. This is a class site with some intruiging and interesting people who are warm and welcoming - a little like Jake I guess.
So thank you and encore!
Sheba xxx
Good morning,(((WDW))) This can only be a flying visit for now,but I just want to add my congratulations,a big hug and more heart-felt thank-yous for all your hard work and dedication to Jake and to all your WDW family in the past year!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you like your video card - hats off to TL who put so much time, love and expertise into it on our behalf.
I can't wait to get back here and immerse myself in your mega retrospective of the past year. It's been a time of great happiness and desperate sadness and you've been there for us through it all. Here's to many more wonderful years for Jake and for WDW!
Much love to you and to Mr.WDW for lending us to us ;-) xxxxxxx
Morning WDW! Hope you have a wonderful day, you deserve it so much :D
ReplyDeleteI know I haven't been here right from the start, but when I came across this site back in May last year I was immediately hooked. I could never have imagined what a huge part of my life it would become! Thank you once again, WDW, and all of you here, for sharing all the highs and lows we've been through together. WDW got us good!
So great to see you all here! You certainly know how to put a blush on a girl's face so thank you all! And TL, thank you so so much for all the hard work that went into doing my pressie. Absolutely love it :D
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, WDW:) I enjoyed doing it (playing around with all those gorgeous pics, what's not to enjoy?!) and it's nothing compared to all the work you do here evry day.
ReplyDeleteAnd I can't claim all the credit cos I never could have done it without everyone here being so enthusiastic about the project and taking so much time and care to choose their favourite Jake pics and write their messages to you, so a huge thank you to all of you - you're AMAZING, as Jake might say;)
Happy Birthday, WDW!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for all the great Jake posts and the ones on Maggie, Peter and our Heath.
I hope you'll have another great Gyllenyear.
OMG wishes WDW a happy first anniversary!
ReplyDeleteYou are all so fab!
ReplyDeleteAnyone up for going to the pub ;D Can someone invite Jake too, please....
Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteAnd what a year it has been!
You deserve from kisses and back rub... i wish i could send Jake to do all these, but for the time being, here's some virtual kisses and hugs from me {{{{WDW}}}}} :*:*:*
Happy birthday WDW and thanks for being a great Jake movie encyclopedia. :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 1st anniversary Kate!
ReplyDeleteHere's to many more.
Ooh Winterbird, do please send Jake along for the kisses and backrub... Thanks for the hug!
ReplyDeleteIt's so good to hear from all of you today.
I'm on a half day today as Ruby and I are heading off to see Jonathan Ross recorded! My birthday treat from lovely Rubes :D So when it's on tomorrow, all those in the UK have to try and spot us! We'll both be around to chat due to the wonders of technology (well, the wonders of Ruby's technology, not mine ;D)
Off for a liquid lunch :D
oh... WDW, you and Ruby will see Ashton Kutcher and Russell Brand on J. Ross show then. Not bad, eh?
ReplyDeletewhy don't you two bribe Jonathan Ross with something, so next time he'll invite you back when Jake's in town! that's a plan, I am telling you....
I'm off again to Greece this weekend, guess I'll catch you gals on iplayer... try not to scream too loud :P
It's been a year!? Really? Wow -- I can't believe how fast time flies! Congratulations! What a wonderful gift is the video, and I love the recap of the year's adventures.
ReplyDeleteI don't post often, but I can't imagine a day without visiting this site. Thank you, Kate, for all your hard work, insight and sensitivity. Fantastic site! The coming year will be even better, I've no doubt.
Applause heard round the world for your smart loving tender wise generous faithful tending of the flame, Kate - I second what everybody is saying -
ReplyDeleteThanks to Mr. WDW for his support of your work, and o my TL your video made me smile and cry and Im not even Kate.
Ruby and Kate have a great day, and thanks to EVERYPEEPS for adding to the love and humor and grace of this wonderful blog.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, WDW!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove you, love Jake and love everyone at the blog! Can't believe it has been a year but I couldn't imagine Jaking without you guys. This site has become very special to me and I thank you for creating it and keeping it going in such an amazing way.
Here is to another wonderful year. :D
Also a huge thank you to TL and everyone who put the tribute together. You did an amazing job! I was so happy that you asked me to be a part of it. It was fabulous.
xoxoxo
Have a great time with Ruby and JR!
ReplyDeleteI offer you my congratulations, WDW. And I look forward to another wonderful year. :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary, WDW! Thanks for all the Jakeabilia (I liked that, Joeann).
ReplyDeleteSo glad you enjoyed the tribute - isn't TL just a star? Aren't we all good to keep it quiet? :D
Hope you and Ruuubes have a good time tonight at JR, and remember that toast, eh? :D xx
hi everyone! On way to London to bribe JR for Jake show tickets - good idea! And the sun's come out :D are you all having a good day?
ReplyDeleteYes, it's been great. Sun's out here to. Well done to Ruby for dragging you off kicking and sreaming to see Mr Ross and Mr Brand - OMGosh, that's gonna be a hilarious show.
ReplyDeleteThe party is rockin here - no-one's started throwing party cake around yet, although the red wine is starting to get a little low, still there's some white left.
Your hubby must be one of the most understanding blokes in the world - very lucky. Memories of the previous year has to be October and everything that happened, it was an explosion of Jake info, sightings and new revelations. A truly wonderful month for Jake.
BTW I absolutely love that picture of Jake riding around London on that tiny foldaway bike. Such an eccentric and so brave to navigate through London traffic - I love him x
The retrospective Anniversary post is brilliant,WDW!
ReplyDeleteAnd what a fabulous way to spend your 1st birthday, out on the lash with Rubes and then the JR show with Russell Brand!!! He cracks me up and reminds me very much of a long-ago ex-boyfriend - he dressed the same and was a very similar build from the neck down(phwoarrrr!) and quite similar facially but my ex had much better hair(it went from magenta spikey to bright red Mohican to ordinary short and brown, with various stages in between, while we were together).
Have a wonderful time and we'll keep the party going here! xxx
hi! In a long line for JR but near the front - someone pass the booze... :D
ReplyDeleteHave fun ladies. You deserve it. Drink a glass and giggle for me.
ReplyDeleteOMG Nadine! We disagree on something!! I don't get what all the fuss is about with Russell Brand at all, he does nothing for me looks wise and I don't get his humour either.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, hope you both have a great time at the JR recording, WDW and Ruby - and yes, please, do whatever it takes to get tickets for next time Jake is on - JR owes us for last time. Tell him I apologise for correcting the woman on the phone on her pronounciation of Gyllenhaal;)
Raising a cup of PG Tips to you, which I will replace with something stronger later:D
Crikey TL,this truly is a momentous day,WDW is 1 year old and we discover that we don't agree on everything after all! ;-)
ReplyDeleteNot sure what it is about Mr.Brand(probably appeals to the latent Goth in me)but I do have very broad tastes, in comedy and in general scrumptiousness. You mentioned "Have I Got News For You" - one of my fave programmes and Paul Merton is a god!
But before I hijack the blog and go any further off topic, I'll compare notes with you by e-mail and for now get back to something we both agree on - Jake is so beautiful it hurts! xxx
Happy anniversary! Thanks for all of the great posts over the past year. Your site is not only entertaining, but a great resource for information regarding Jake's work.
ReplyDeletehi all! Waiting in hospitality to go in. The filming is delayed as a star is late! We've toasted you all and wish you were here. Have I Got News is filming too :-) kinda like Russell! xx
ReplyDeleteHey y'all everywhere! I watched a UTUBE old Russell Brand/Jonathan Ross interview and other RB videos since Id never heard of him. I think he's very funny. Hope you gus have a great evening.
ReplyDeleteAlso agree with Nadine that Jake is so beautiful it hurts.
I think that's something we all can agree on. ;)
ReplyDeleteMy dearest Kate! I can scarcely believe it's been a year. So cliche' to say it, but at times it seemed as if time literally flew! And yet, sometimes I think more than enough has happened in our world, to fill up three lifetimes!
ReplyDeleteI remember when you were first deciding about the blog and then it was launched! And it has been one of the most interesting fun reads of my days!
I've said before, but it is worth repeating, in all your adventures, you have the most lovely, unique quality of bringing us all along with you...a way to make us feel a part of Cannes, and Rome,of course BAFTA, and most recently, meeting Peter!
I am truly delighted that we got the chance to meet in person, and shared such an incredible, memorable experience in Toronto along with some other truly lovely friends!
I came straight here on
January 22nd. Those three simple words had to have been the hardest headline you ever had to write. I can't really express the ways in which this spot has been such a comfort all these weeks.
You have become a dear friend and your blog is a delight! I look forward happily to many wonderful adventures with WDW!
WHUT? It's one year already? Unbelievable!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary, Kate!
I just want to say thank you for your wonderful blog!
You put so much work and especially love into this - and it shows! It's a great place and you have built a great family here! It is always a joy to visit! And it is definitely the best place to find out about news about Jake or to revisit his past!
I will keep trying to become a true member of that family as well! ;)
Your trip down memory lane brought a lump to my throat when I came to January... I feel like most of the time I am still subconsciously pushing the hard truth that Heath is dead away, but sometimes, like now, reading your post and reading the people here commenting on it the pushing away just doesn't work. Oh, well...
Thank you again for giving us this wonderful place!
I hope you and Ruby have a great time tonight!
Love
Uli
Bobbyanna, thank you so much for each of those line words. You are such a good friend to me and wdw.
ReplyDeleteI'm on the train now going home so can't write much til I get back. But an amazing bit of luck and fate - we say NEXT week's show recorded which meant we saw the man who influenced the name of this site on its birthday - Robert Downey Jr!
of course this also meant we saw Gwyneth Paltrow! And she mentioned Proof!
ReplyDeleteOther guest was my mum's fave Michael Aspel :-)
hi Uli!
Just been reading all the old posts links in this one, feeling happy and weepy all at the same time. Then I went to post a comment and read that you saw RDJ and I'm squeeing like an over excited 13 year old!! How wonderful is that?! What a brilliant surprise! I'd rather see RDJ than Russell Brand any day of the week (sorry RB fans!). Can't wait to hear all about it:D
ReplyDeletehey TL! I know! I just couldn't believe it when jonathan told us.just fate - to see RDJ on today of all days. He was fab!
ReplyDeleteHappy One Year Anniversary! and many more to come of Jaking ;-)
ReplyDeleteThankyou your site is great and you do an excellent job of giving us info on Jake (Aswell as Peter, Maggie and Heath!) and his wonderful work...i found this site about the end of last year (i think!) and i'm still here cuz its a great Jake site.
Lol WDW! Definitely fate.RDJ is your new spooky twin!:D I bet that made your day, and you totally deserve it :) I'll be back tomorrow to read all about it.Hope you both have a safe journey home. Night everyone xx
ReplyDeletewow... you two saw RDJ instead??? that's really great news - and on WDW's anniversary! it's a sign!!
ReplyDeletedo tell what they said.... :P
have a great weekend everyone... i'm off to no-internet land for a couple of days again. see you all next week.
You've got the midas touch. RDJ one of my favs. Next best thing to having Jake there I guess. Hope RDJ was as charming and funny as he is talented and hope you enjoyed your anniversary. It's been a good day.
ReplyDeletehave a good trip Winterbird - see you next week :-)
ReplyDeleteNight TL! See you tomorrow :-)
Hey Sheba :D Amazing good luck truly. A really great day. Very ready to be back home though! I've missed chatting this evening - have to make up for it tomorrow :-)
How strange that RDJ was a guest. Is that fate or what?
ReplyDeleteGlad you guys had a good time. Talk to ya tomorrow.
:)
Phew! Just got home due to the speediest taxi driver in these parts :D
ReplyDeleteDefinitely fate of a very strange kind, Bird Girl. I had to pinch myself. RDJ is so special to me and to see him today was just perfect. I saw him in LA a year ago but only in the distance, here he was right in front of us, chatting away for a good 20 minutes or so. I'm really looking forward to doing the post tomorrow :D
Now I'm home and not at work or living it up with movie stars (well, almost... ;D), I can say how gobsmacked I've been by all your comments. On top of the video it's something else for me and you've made today a day I'll remember. There are going to be lots of future anniversaries here - but this one is going to stay extra special.
I'm going to read all the comments again and wish I could give each of you a hug. I was saying to Ruby this evening that I wish we were all at the BBC studios.
Good to see some old friends here too - Incognita and Beckela, great to see you xx
Thank you, every single one of you :)
I'm a bit late, but here goes...
ReplyDeleteK is for KINDRED SPIRIT: When it comes to Jake, you understand what we feel, and vice versa. Whether it’s a serious discussion of a challenging movie role, or a lighthearted free-for-all on his hair, clothing, shoes, etc., there’s no eye-rolling or blank looks (like in RL) Everyone “gets it”.
A is for ADVENTUROUS: “Spanning the Globe” (like ABC’s Wide World of Sports) in search of Jake.
T is for TIPPLE: as you sign off in the evening. :)
E is for EXCELLENCE: in reporting - in gathering and posting all the articles, clips, and pics.
Happy Anniversary, Kate! I can't get here as often as I used to, but I always look forward to each visit.
Big hugs!
Morning everyone! Friday - thank heavens, I feel like I could sleep for a week :D
ReplyDeleteHey Neely - thanks so much - always good to see you here. I love the comment - makes me want to jump up and down waving pompoms!
Have a great Friday eveyone :D
Well done WDW! I love this blog, even though I lurk more than I post.
ReplyDeleteHi there Narcissa :D Thanks and good to see you!
ReplyDeleteack! Is it time to go home yet? I'm feeling weary but I want to chat. Can't do that here :(
ReplyDeleteIs Jake still busy making a movie and stuff?
In case I forget to mention it later- both Robert and Gwyneth have some kick-ass footwear :) I've been wondering all day how GP stayed upright. But then we didn't see her walk that far. :D
I think I lost the post from yesterday so I'll send you hugs and more hugs and a Happy Anniversary once more x 597607609704:)
ReplyDeleteYour Jakelopedia ROCKS!
Hey WDW! I popped in last night but the demon Blogger devoured my comment so I gave up and hit the hay :-# Let's have another try...
ReplyDeleteYou saw RDJ ???!!! There's a kind of poetry in the fact that RDJ,the man who coined the very phrase that named this blog, was JR's guest on the show that was your reward from Ruby to celebrate WDW's 1st Anniversary! Spooky indeed! And believe you me,TL,I might be a Russell Brand fan,but Mr.Downey Junior is on a different level altogether. Even Jake says that Robert pees lemonade ;-). I'm not sure about that (maybe dandelion and burdock) but I am jealous of you and chuffed for you in equal measure,WDW!
Like TL,I found that the trip down memory lane provided by this mammoth retrospective anniversary post was the cause of mixed emotions, many of them positive and uplifting but the January 22nd/23rd post and our anguished comments brought back all the jagged pain and shock of Heath's death all over again.
We were so fortunate to be able to come here to share our grief and disbelief and prop each other up in a time of desperate sadness - ~I don't know how I'd have coped without you and the WDW family to talk to and cry with.
I'm grateful too that, while WDW remains the best place by far to celebrate and support Jake, it is also a haven for Brokies and a place to honour Heath's memory. I feel sure that Jake too would feel glad that we WDWers continue to love and honour his friend, with whom he conspired to embody our beautiful, beloved star-crossed cowboys.
As for you,WDW,a thousand thankyous seems barely enough xxxxxxx
Hey Rubes - I'm off home in 8 minutes (not counting of course). Bought myself an expensive bottle of red to collapse into when I get home :D Not impressed by BBC red wine last night.
ReplyDeleteThose shoes were amazing! I don't know how Gwyn could walk an inch in those. Robert's were so cool :D Looking forward to doing the post when I get in...
Thanks so much, Sass! Blogger ate so many of my comments yesterday it must be full enough to burst. Jakelopedia - like it :D
Hiya Rubes! I saw a picture in the paper of GP teetering down some stairs in those humungous heels (wonder if they come with a complimentary Oxygen mask?) and she was having to hang onto her bodyguard's arm to stay upright!
ReplyDeleteHi Nadine! Posting at the same time :D You've had blogger troubles too? It's been a right pest. I know, just fabulous to see RDJ on the anniversary - how poetic is that?
ReplyDeleteI am so pleased and proud that you can find the comfort here with us all for those difficult times - I know I can and it's just incredible. Like minds.
Off home now see you all very soon :D

Happy Friday, Bird Girl!
I'm not one to comment on blogs much, but I have been here reading every day for a long time. Not from the very beginning, but since a few months after you started. I just wanted to say thank you so much for all you do to feed and nuture our Jake addictions!
ReplyDeleteI first discovered Jake when "October Sky" came out, and I remember thinking, "Who IS that adorable kid?" Yup I'm older than he is, and at the time he was definitely a kid to me, and I remember not having lustful thoughts about him when I first saw him, but thinking he was incredibly appealing and I thought he was fantastic in that role. I loved the dynamic between him and Chris Cooper in that movie, and to this day it's still one of my favorites. Then I saw him in "The Good Girl" and "Lovely and Amazing", and in photos and forget about it - the lust was on! LOL And believe me I was no longer thinking of him as a kid. I wasn't the type to get all fan girly over anyone, but I just fell in LOVE with Jake. Not only is he absolutely gorgeous, sexy, adorable, etc. in addition to being an incredibly talented actor, but he especially appeals to me because he's so not the typical Hollywood type. I can't stand arrogance, phoniness, shallowness, and I see none of that in Jake. I LOVE a guy who isn't afraid to show how much he loves his mom, his sister, who loves animals, and who is kind to whoever he comes in contact with, and from all accounts, that seems to be Jake. Also I love and admire his confidence mixed with a little insecurity, and how he's himself no matter what other people think. This blog celebrates everything I love about him and I thank you for it! And then we get the bonus of posts about Jake's lovely sister Maggie and her sweetheart Peter, AND posts about the glorious Heath Ledger, who I knew of and always adored before I ever heard of Jake. Thank you for the loving way you helped us all through the tragedy of his loss.
So I just HAD to post and say thank you Kate for one year of fabulous posts, and I look forward to many more.
Ginny - welcome! I'm so glad to see you - thanks for decloaking :D That's such a great comment - you sum up many of my own feelings as I discovered Jake over the years before the full on thump in the heart that was Brokeback. I've never been fangirly myself before, and I like that Jake attracts such people who look for something a little bit extra. I love Jake above all but Peter, Maggie and Heath - as well as others in the circle - I love to look at their work too.
ReplyDeleteI am so so pleased you had to post, Ginny, and please keep coming back :D See you soon!
My pleasure Kate! I figured it was only right to say thank you and let you know how much I appreciate all the work you put in to this blog. It's quite obvious it's a labor of love for you. :o)
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way, there's just something about Jake that sets him apart from all the rest. And oh my goodness yes, he really takes one's breath away in Brokeback doesn't he?
Pleasure to "meet" you Kate, and I look forward to chatting with you more!
Thanks again!
