Jake in action in Interview Magazine - and in waders

Today, Jake Gyllenhaal has done the miraculous - he has robbed me of the power of speech and almost of the effort to take one breath after another. And I think, if you look below, you'll see why. The references to Jack Twist seem unavoidable, as is the sheer physical presence and potency of this remarkable man and actor.

So which is your favourite? In these first hours, I'm torn between Jake in waders, Jake with an axe and Jake carrying a bicycle - I must study them some more... All credit and gratitude to Rawanddisorder and to the incredible gift of the Interview photographer. Good job! Click on them and they shall be bigger.

Pictures from Interview Magazine. Source. Thanks to UV for the link! A very welcome present to wake up to this morning.

And a final thing...

Jim Nelson, Editor in Chief of GQ magazine, when asked if he had any celebrity stories, told the New York Daily News today: 'Nobody is more down-to-earth and genuinely cool than Jake Gyllenhaal. I just like him a lot personally. I feel that he has not been affected much by stardom.'

The bike-carrying one does it for me. *thud*
then again.........I wanna be his fishin' buddy! ;D

Definitely the bike.

*returns to speechlessness*

Hi Ruby! Just look at the saddle on that bike... ouch

I love that one for a lot of obvious reasons, but what about the chopping? Jake's bootlaces are undone in that one - that brings out my caring side while the remaining 99.9% of that pic has an entirely different effect.

Hey ~elfie - so good to see you and I hope you're well :) It's hard getting any words out at all with these pics - I need to rig up my printer...

Anonymous said...

Those are the sexiest pics I have seen in a long time, especially the one with the bike....

Sorry, I wanted to make an intelligent, mature comment but I am speechless at the moment....:-))

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Don't worry Carla - I think these pictures have a detrimental effect on intelligent and mature comments - it's Jake fault, not our's :D Thanks for saying anything at all!

Hey everyone. I came here via Elfie's blog(great to see you hear,Elfie xxx) where these photos are also striking people dumb in their droves!

I'll have to come back later to catch up on yesterday's post, but had to linger over these pictures before I go!

They're all beautiful but,for me, the exalted Runner-up is the one where he's holding his chopper ;-) The Winner, undoubtedly, the one with the bike. Dear God,that man is just so beautiful it hurts!

WDW: Do you know that your blog and this post has been linked/pimped to the Datalounge? If you are Ok with that, then fine but if not i'm sure you are well aware of that gossip blog and the sleazy, disrespectful things posted their not only about Jake but his family and friends as well.

welliwont said...

Well of course they are all beautiful, but I choose the hipwaders pic.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Nadine - so you're with the bike too - well, I can see its appeal.

Hi Alert - thanks for telling me about that. I've not heard of that site. I'm constantly amazed at some of the sites that link to this one - I suppose with a title like 'wet, dark and wild', I shouldn't be. I can't control it unfortunately. My choice is reflected in my links lists. Thanks for your concern, appreciated :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Welliwont - Yep, I can see the appeal of Jake in waders, too :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

I just added an edit to the post about comments made by the editor in chief of GQ. When you consider how many actors and stars this guy must see, and to single Jake out like this as someone cool, down to earth and likeable is amazing and a tribute to our Jake. Just had to repeat this here...

Anonymous said...

I love the bike pic best -- it seems the most natural to me. I'm thinking Jake's extraordinary physical beauty is greatly enhanced by his inner beauty. Cliché, true, but there it is.

I love Jim Nelson's comment, and, yes, it is amazing that of all the celebrities he has encountered he chose to speak well of Jake. Quite validating!

Thanks again for all you do, WDW!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Beckela - I think you've hit the nail on the head there s to speak - it's what's coming out of Jake's eyes in these pictures. It really does magnify his physical beauty. Extraordinary.

Jim Nelson's comments have definitely contributed to a happy Sunday :D Thanks, Beckela.

Thud... :D :D

My favourites are the one with the bike (hehe, it is so pin upish ;D), the wood chop and the boat... Probably in that order, but that might change again...
I said it in another place already. The fishing pic reminds me too much of a page in a catalogue for fishing gear! No doubt about it - I would buy everything they sell in that store... But still, not a favourite for me...

But really - we didn't have pin up pics of Jake in a looooong time...;D

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Uli - I agree, it's about time we had some new Jake pinup pics! Not so sure about the fishing shirt but I bet there was some laughter lowering Jake into the lake without splashing the shirt :) An advertiser's dream.

Great photos. Thanks for the post.

Seliger has shot Jake before, see here: http://www.crazydaysandnights.net/2007/09/jake-gyllenhaal-by-mark-seliger.html

Wow, so beautiful! These shots are gorgeous! But my fave is the bike shot. ;) And I love the Jim Nelson quote.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi qon - thanks for the link and for naming the photographer. It's interesting comparing the photos. There are a couple in there that I've always disliked but there are others that I absolutely adore - and all are interesting. Thank you!

Hey Get Real - I'm still torn between the bike and the chopping wood - I love Jake in a white t and jeans; probably my favourite look on him among so many favourite looks :)

Anonymous said...

These are absolutely beautiful - I really can't choose one because there's something about each one of them, but the fly-fishing and wood chopping pics do it for me - talk about reflecting a down-to-earth, outdoorsy, natural quality. I just love the muted grey/green and gold tones of them. And of course, those eyes just speak to me, in all of the pics, especially the cover. Can't wait to get a copy for myself! :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Marina - When I first sawthese, I was thinking how good it is to see Jake photographed outside with water and trees etc, however posed. I wonder if they were taken on MV. I'm sure Jake rarely has to chop wood and maybe he never fishes but it's very sexy to see! Strange - I don't normally associated sexiness with fishing...;)

Anonymous said...

WDW, the chopping wood shot is awesome and total sexy. Yes, okay so I love that one too. :D

Anonymous said...

I wonder too, WDW, if they were shot on MV. I usually do associate sexiness with an outdoor man, someone who appreciates and respects the natural world, and can't wait to throw off the confines of civilization for it. Chopping wood always makes me think of a self-reliant, strong man, who can take care of himself. Kinda basic stuff. I have to see the actual picture in the magazine, to see if the lines are as muted and blurred as they appear - he appears to almost blend in with his surroundings, becoming part of the environment. If you enbiggen the wood chopping one, you can see clumps of moss on the trees, and a slight moss green tone to the pic, moss green is my favorite color! Maybe it's just me! lol

Anonymous said...

Wow!! It really is quite remarkable that Jim Nelson would single out Jake. He must meet with a kazillion celebs on a regular basis, from music, sports, films, etc.
My very most favorite pic is definitely the bike pic!!!followed by the chopping wood pic. He is just so beautiful he makes my heart ache! But I've already said that. Trying to describe Jake is to invite a confrontation with the real limits of my vocabulary.(!) And have they invented anything to take the exclamation point to a "higher level?" I'm sure by now, I've exceeded my lifetime quota. LOL!
It wouldn't surprise me at all if they were on MV. But there is also something about these pics that makes me think they might have been shot outside NYC. Around the Bedford area or somewhere near a pond or a lake or a river. MV would make sense.

Anonymous said...

Noticed you've taken JW off your links WDW. Thats a tad childish isn't it.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Get Real - changing your opinion eh?

I agree Marina that the tone of these pictures is very evocative. In the wood chopping picture in particular, Jake does seem very much part of the landscape, and in the fishing picture we can't see so much of him for the water. I love the use of the elements. I can't wait to get my hands on the original.

Hey Bobyanna - Jake and these pictures have used up my useful vocaulary as well - sometimes it's just good to sit back and enjoy how beautiful he is :D

I love the scenery and even more so as Jake's in it.

Anonymous said...

No, I just appreciate both pics. ;D

So WDW are you waiting excitingly for baby tile (Because I notice you have Oh My Godot on your links, wonder you don't have WFT and Ted's BV page as well). Bet this gets deleted as soon as its posted.

What an incredible first day of autumn! I totally forgive Jake for his summer's absence!

I love the cover shot: that v neck grey tee he wears under sweaters, and apparently in Rendion - ?WDW? -
takes my breath away. The biks shot - o the arms o the underarms -

you've knocked my headlights out
please turn them on again
I cant see whre Im goin'
I dont know where Ive been

Get Real :D

Hey Pia - I love it when Jake makes you so poetical :)

That is a great t-shirt. I want to get a closer look at the cover shot as I find it really interesting and I can't figure out why yet. When I get the mag I just want to look at that one. Thanks Pia *)

I think I just broke my own record for drooling over Jake pics!!! I LOVE all of them, especially the wood chopping one. So masculine, and I love the nod to BBM;) And the bike one- those arms!!!! They're all absolutely stunning. How does he do it? He gets sexier with every photoshoot, I never thought he could look better than in the Guardian pics, but these are even hotter, and all that chest hair on display is just glorious (and I'm mightily relieved to see I didn't give him a complex about it after all;D) Jake in a boat on a river (had to chuck in a Beatles reference there!) loses a couple of points for me cos of the lack of chest hair but it reminds me of a scene from one of my favourite fanfics, so it's all good. And sexy and hot and gorgeous and handsome and droolworthy and...*faints*

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Twisted Logic - I'm extremely glad that Jake recovered so quickly from the chesthair complex you gave him ;) Good of him to lift up the bike like that to... So you've got me thinking then, trying to work out which fanfic has a boat.

And sexy and hot and gorgeous and handsome and droolworthy and...*faints* - Oh yes! Thanks for such a fab comment.

I'm listening to Kanye's new album at the moment and these pics just fit it :D

I want to get a closer look at the cover shot as I find it really interesting and I can't figure out why yet.

Because over his v-neck tee shirt he's wearing his v-neck TIFF black sweater?

Put me down for Jake in Row Boat as my fave pic from this set. It has an almost English garden circa 1936 feel to it. Though I think that's more to do with the white chimney on the cottage in the background and the condition of the boat and oars than Jake himself.

He's just such a handsome man. Sigh...

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Felicia! I don't think it is the TIFF sweater - but I really like that look, so sexy.

Yes, it is a bit like a summer's afternoon on a river in England, with a picnic in the boat, and a blanket to spread out on a shady bank. So handsome.

Anonymous said...

Hi WDW! I'm so sorry I totally forgot my manners and didn't say a huge THANK YOU for posting these pics. I'm claiming mitigating circumstances here, blame Jake for being sex on fine denim clad legs;)

(Btw, just been catchng up on the last 2 days post. I don't know what the problem is with JW (which I think is a brilliant site btw, albeit in a completely different way to WDW), and I don't particularly want to know, but I do want to say I love this site, your posts are always so well written and interesting and I love the diversity of topics here. I realy appreciate the time and dedication you put in, you do a great job and don't let anyone tell you any different!!.
Also, I'm glad you found the TIFF video from ennisjack.com. I'm a memeber there (my username there is CrimsonSky - hey Smiles, btw!). I was lucky enough last year to actually touch that shirt with my own hands thanks to the lovely Thomas who is the proud owner of it, and it ws a very emotional experience for me, so I was naturally chuffed to bits that Jake signed it:) And call me sad, but I get a tingly feeling knowing that my DNA is (sort of) linked to Jake's forever now:)

The fanfic I was talking about is Going Down by Shieldmaid, which features a wonderful scene in a boat in the last chapter:)

Anonymous said...

Hi WDW, strange to see me today, hein? :D

I like them all! But I love the boat pic with hoodie. The fishing one is surprisingly gorgeous too. These photogs know where to let the water lap up to ... :P

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Twisted Logic! Thanks :D I've been in touch with Smiles and she's been telling me all about her encounter - and I went over and joined EnnisJack so I could read the full account. Brought back such memories.

You've touched the shirt... :D I have to own up to having some Lureen stuff. For instance I have her belt and I wear it when I need comfort.

I must have missed the end of Going Down - oops - have to rectify that.

hey What are you doing here on a Sunday Anouska! Yep, do you have new technology or are you having a coffee? ;) Looking at lapping water eh? I might have done that too, might've...

Anonymous said...

Now I've read the other post ...

Soooo funny with the mud, Ruby and Pia - count me in :)

WDW, Zoolander is a big favourite of mine, too.

Don't know what the JW issue is but I suppose I'd better look. :( Haven't posted there since 2006.
Hugs to you whatever it was, WDW *

Have no new tech, WDW, I just felt in need of a Jake fix so dropped into a caff. :)

Anonymous said...

Jake looks hotter and more grown up than ever.
I love that he's finally starting to look like a man and not like a boy.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Anouska the Netless - you have to get this fixed ;) Please don't bring up the subject of Jake in Mud again - that's an image I have difficulty with :P It robs me of all cognitive powers.

Hi Gr77 I love that he's finally starting to look like a man and not like a boy. - I couldn't agree with you more. I adore the boy but how I love the man. I can't wait for future films :D

Anonymous said...

I would to have a brain scan of Mark Selinger as he did this photo shoot; he's shot many pictures of Jake - to have chosen this very mode foe the Interview interview - how - why - where - etcetc.

Cover photo and bike shot - I am mesmerized!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Positively Pia - it would be so good to know the reason for the setting/actions of these pictures - showing how Jake is a major contender for top Hollywood leading man? He's shown the fun and sensitive side recently - thinking SNL and Zodiac - now we get the sex appeal. We all know he has it in vat loads but this certainly is spreading the message. The pictures would definitely make me want to see him in the biggest roles.

I really am drawn to that cover image...

Anonymous said...

These Jake pics are breathtaking! My fav I think is the wood chopping pic, like you said WDW, no one looks as good as Jake in a white t-shirt and jeans. Then next is the bike pic. Oh, and the cover pic of him too, LOL. I love him in a grey and black colored ensemble. Love those colors on a man.

A bit of a heads up sort of speak to Jake fans....supposedly when Jake was in Toronto, the Canadian entertainment magazine called, Inside Entertainment shot Jake for an upcoming cover story. Talented Canadian actor Ryan Gosling is on this months cover, so I take it that Jake will be in next months magazine.

Since Jake learned how to chop wood for BBM, chances are that he really chopped that piece of wood in the pic, LOL. I know, silly observation (*blush*).

I keep looking at these pictures and shaking my head in disbelief.
What hath God wrought? Sorry to keep going on about this. Any suggestions how to :let go: and let God - let God WHAT? - (I dont think that will work: Im sure God is as bedazzled by Her creation as are we. . . . )

HI WDW...thanks for posting the pics of Mr. Beautiful....The bicycle pic is my absolute favorite...I am partial to the boys on the bicycles..especially ones with short hair....and of course a clean shaven face...it is too much to take...really so...I shall sign off with another thanks...Michele

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Jantoinette! At the moment, my inner struggle is being won by the chopping picture. There is something about this picture. The bike was is obviously very sexy but this chopping one has an atmosphere abut it.

Thanks very much for the heads up on the Inside Entertainment magazine. I love all this coverage Jake is getting and it's such good quality too. Hopefully we'll get to see this new one. I really hope so.

Hey Positively Pia - you're not alone - a lot of people are struck by these I'm sure because this is a new Jake and we're having to adapt. It's hard to comprehend sometimes how the actor that we've followed for such a long time has simply blossomed.

Hi Michele - thanks for commenting and I'm glad you enjoyed the photos of Mr Beautiful - like that :)

Anonymous said...

I still can't get over these pictures, each time I look at one it becomes my new favourite!! It's not just the sexiness, that goes without saying, but all the different settings...what was that about spinning minds?;D

I'm fascinated with the wood chopping one atm, cos of the BBM connection. I can't help wondering what Jake's trying to say here. I know it would've been the photographer's idea, and maybe he didn't realise the link to BBM, but I can't believe Jake wouldn't. I remember Jake saying something about how he hoped the fans he gained from BBM would stick with him for a couple of years, well it's been almost 2 years since BBM, so maybe he wanted to remind us that, even though he's growing up and leaving that period of his life behind,he's still the beautiful blue eyed boy we fell in love with...*sigh* I need to go and watch some BBM. Or should I? it might just finish me off completely!!

Anonymous said...

Yes, twistedlogic, I am also wondering how to balance my love for the blueeyed boy with whom I fell in love and this new, more mature man and - even more beautiful, could that be true? So Ive been watching a few old videos - Ellen G. show, for instance - he's had alot of friends who've helped him along the way - and admirers! - love the Cannes video of Jake singing Night Fever.

Jake kidding around about taking off his shirt, and enjoying the audience reaction - taking it all in with a good sense of humor - commenting that the audience goes crazy more about him removing his shirt than about the question of whether or not he is single . . . yeah, the bottom line is chest hair, pecs, and biceps. and so forth. we know that. :) :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Twisted Logic - you're not the only one with a spinning mind tonight. I have no doubt Jake would have been aware of the parallels that his fanbase - and others - would have drawn between this photo and the image of Jack Twist chopping wood. It seems to say to me - and this is obviously a personal opinion - that, look I've moved on, look at me now, but I'm here partly because of Jack. I also think he's saying 'noone needs to show me how to chop wood now'. Jake's grown and confident and is looking back and forward at the same time. We'll probably never know of course but the fact that such a picture was taken has to make us consider why.

Hey Positively Pia - Just like me, maybe you've been going through something this evening, coming to terms with this new grown Jake. I really feel it too but I also feel more than ready to move on with the grown man as he grabs all the new opportunities to shine with both hands. Future roles are going to be so different for Jake and I'm really excited by that. But it makes me look back with fondness on Donnie and TDAT's Sam as I fell for them so hard and now they're gone.

Good night everyone - it's back to my tough commute tomorrow so I'll be around when I can.
