Zodiac comes to Cannes

At this very moment, Hollywood is moving town. The studios are empty and the mansions of LA and Malibu are being swapped for the yachts and villas of the French Riviera. Tomorrow, the Cannes Film Festival begins and this year, its 60th anniversary, promises to glitter with more Hollywood stars than ever.


Although Ocean 13 may be out of the competition, it will neverthless receive its starry premiere at Cannes. However, five Hollywood films are up for the prestigious Palme d'Or prize, including Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof and, of course, David Fincher's Zodiac, which premieres on Thursday 17 May.

This should be a major cause of celebration for Fincher and all of his cast - what better way to premiere the film in Europe and give it that boost lacking for its US launch?


So our eyes turn to Cannes as the Zodiac party gathers. A BBC reporter arrived in Nice on the same plane as Chloe Sevigny. Where there's one, more will follow. The next few days could provide Jake Gyllenhaal with any number of those precious moments when he will feel like pinching himself to know it's real.


WDW is joining the migration southwards and so will be gone for a couple of days, but will be returning in time for Zodiac Day - Friday May 18. I want to wish Zodiac, Jake, David Fincher, and all of the cast and crew every success for their Cannes adventure!
