It's Jake wearing his Oscar Fever cologne

Merry Christmas everyone! Cheers!

It feels like Christmas, doesn't it? I woke up to talk of a Drunken Woman asking Jake Gyllenhaal to light a fire and make her a martini before calling him Jake Gooberballs. I know a significant number of British women, I have even known some drunken British women, and I would like to say to Jake that we can behave iff given the right incentive.

Today so far we've had Regis and Kelly and The Today Show and - yet again - thanks must go to Stephanie at I Heart Jake for putting so many of us out of our misery. Hopefully tonight, if all goes well, we'll be able to reciprocate with Film 2007. I also have another treat for us all here. But first off..

Teresa's Jake encounter!

A reader of WDW was one lucky blighter yesterday - she got to meet Jake at the Letterman screening and wanted to share it here with us all. Teresa lined up to get standby for the recording of Letterman at 4.30pm - she got #25 ticket but they stopped at #18.

'I was waiting and saw him get OUT of the SUV and go in with a gorgeous suit on! Someone yelled for an autograph and he said "later." I went back to my car and got my copy of INTERVIEW magazine and went back to wait. He came BACK out in casual dress of blue jeans and a sweater. There were a TON of people there and most were there for 50 Cents. So Jake starts down this line and people are shoving things at him and he is signing things and moving pretty quickly. He stopped in front of me(sees the INTERVIEW magazine) and says "I know, you're hear to see 50 cents, aren't you ? ! Laughs. I laughed and said, "yeah!" He then signs my magazine and I thanked him and he said "your welcome."' Thanks for sharing with us, Teresa!

Jake's flirtatious Heart Breakfast interview for UK radio

When I finally reached work this morning, after having watched the Letterman show repeatedly on my MP4 player on a crowded tube and, I suspect, having made a complete buffoon of myself laughing out loud on the way to work - to laugh on the way to work in London is disapproved of - a colleague informed me that Jake was about to appear on Heart Breakfast.

Obviously prerecorded during Jake's flying visit, this interview took place between Jake and old UK favourite Jamie Theakston and Harriet Scott. You can download the interview here tonight, but just in case things don't work out, I can tell you that much of the interview comprised some very amusing flirtation between the diminutive Harriet and the charmed Jake (Harriet is the lucky girl on the right). I understand that you can't access the interview outside of the UK so try this instead - if it doesn't work, forgive me, I'm new to this!

First off Jamie asked Jake what he thought about being named as the Hottest Bachelor - 'Does this kind of recognition make it easier to pull chicks?'

Jake: Yes... It's really true. It's been tough because since the list came out, you know, my life's really changed and I was just living a meagre life in Los Angeles and now I can't really go out without being...
Jamie: An international babe magnet?
Jake: Yeah
Jamie: I don't even make it on those gay icon lists anymore. That used to be a banker for me
Jake: Are you sure? You should check them... Check the gay lists again... I've never met you before but I have a feeling you're on the gay lists

Harriet: Jake, just say you were getting married to a popular radio DJ... What would your first dance be?
Jake: What do you mean? The song?
Harriet: You know, what's traditional for you, me, whoever?
Jamie: You said a popular radio DJ, I heard you
Harriet: It's all about you and me, Jake, c'mon
Jake: The theme song from Titanic

Harriet: Does it matter how tall a girl is?
Jamie: She's really small
Jake: I think smaller women really know how to pack a punch

Jamie: Can I interrupt? There's a film coming out on Friday called Rendition. What's that smell? The smell of Oscar Fever?
Jake: Oh my God!
Jamie: Or was it you!
Jake: Yes, that's what I'm wearing. I'm wearing Oscar Fever. I'm bottling it up. No, people always talk about that when you have a movie coming out in the Fall. People think you have some kind of intention but no, we have no intentions of that... that's why Meryl Streep and Reese Witherspoon and Alan Arkin... They've all won Academy Awards
Jamie: And you have as well - no, you haven't!
Jake: Thanks for rubbing it in
Jamie: I didn't want to mention it
Jake: That's OK - I like the way you look at me (to Harriet)
Harriet: Do you like that?
Jake: It makes me feel better, yeah
Harriet: I'm better than an Oscar...
Jake: I would love to win you
(Jamie: Trust me, she's shorter than an Oscar)

Harriet: Do you need a guide to show you around London? I have a 2 for 1 offer at Madame Tussauds. We could go now and just dump this one here
Jake: Yeah, sure
Harriet: And Garfunkels, I know a guy who works there
Jake: Garfunkels? I know Garfunkels
Harriet: I could get us a free steak or something
Jake: Free steak? How about we pay for it?
Harriet? Well, OK, have you got money? That's fantastic! I've never had a boyfriend with money before!
Jake: Oh wow! I could teach you something!
Harriet: This is going to be great - my mum's going to love you
Jake: Never had a boyfriend with money, this one
Jamie: She's never really had a boyfriend to be fair. Or money

Harriet: I'm not sure I want to talk about Reese Witherspoon
Jamie: Now you're getting jealous
Harriet: Oh come on, I don't know if they're together or not!
Jamie: She's taller than you
Harriet: Are you together?
Jake: What?
Harriet: You and Reese?
Jake: It's all about you and me right now... Rendition is out on Friday, can you smell that?

Jamie: What's that smell? Is that Jake or Oscar Frenzy?
Jake: It's Jake wearing his Oscar Fever Cologne
Jamie: Or maybe it's Harriet's pheronomes

Jake: You guys are great, I don't know why we haven't met before.
Harriet: He's classy this one, he's a keeper
Jamie: Jake Gyllenhaal [sniff] - the smell of Oscars

And finally... Regis

I'm just going to say one thing here about Regis and Kelly. Jake said on the show that he was shortly about to go to Rome. At this point my heart missed a beat. The reason being - Jake's not the only one!

Thanks for the Heart Breakfast interview, WDW but you can't listen to it if you are outside the UK. :(

And I am so loving Jake week! I must say that this place is a haven on the internet. There is so much crap out there. So thank you WDW and all the great posters here!

Thanks Get Real for lots of reasons... I'm uploading the radio interview as we speak and will post it. I'm so glad you like it here - I love it thanks to you all :)

Thanks WDW!! Must say how much I have loved Jake's charm, wit and wisdom in all these interviews so far. Brings a huge smile to my face. :D Plus, he is looking so fantastic in the suits!

I hate to be the first one WDW but you know I wait at the door with my Ballentines and my tail wagging
Woof woof and WOW, to use an expression Jake likes.

Woops Im not first, Got Real is here! Yay!

To say again WOW - thanks for YUMMY pictures and Teresa;s Jake encounter. He said "later" OMG OMG I am reduced to fourteen year old squeeeing - it is said (although I disagree) that Ennis said "later" during the reunion scene. OMG OMG. "later" -

Poor guy! although he seems to handle quite well THAT each word he says IS loaded with POTENTCY -

He is indeed lovely when he feels comfortable enough to play and flirt, contra Meredith eyeing him as if he were her main course.

Loving Jake Week! Yay!

Get Real - I've worked out how to upload it and I've put a link in the post. Any problems you (or anyone) email me!

Hey Positively Pia - just have to say Ballentine's is Mr WDW's favourite tipple!

Jake always knows what we want to hear and he says it - bless him!

p.s. apologies. I forgot to say that it really bothers me when J says "smaller women pack a punch"

How? what is it that they do? work overtime? try harder? Oh, yeah, I remember. Shorter guys do that, too. Oho Jake so I see we have something more in common. OK. I can deal with that.

WDW glad you have a ticket to ride!
:) :) :)

What a picture that gave me when I heard it . . . wasn't that so funny? I am enjoying Jake Week so much!

Cute interview (lucky ladies!) :)

WDW, are you going to Rome? *sigh*

Hey Marina - I am going to Rome, it's true. I was so sure Jake wasn't so it did me so much good today to hear from his own mouth that he is :) I have a film festival project on the burner.

This is such a great week!

Just came home from a party and found the wonderful, funny interview with Harriet & Jamie - incredible.
The download works fine - thanks so much!!

Although I do not post often here I like this side very much and it is always my first "click" when I am online.....

What a strenuous, wonderful week with not much sleep this one will be.....

WDW, yes the download does work..thank you!!! :D And congrats on going to Rome! Wee!

HELLO, Pia!! :D

And yes, Teresa's encounter was great, wonderful for her!

And you are going to Rome -why am I not surprised....??

I have the feeling that Rendition will be more appreciated by the European critics than the american...and from what I have read so far, the audience also likes it.....

Uh Oh! WDW in Rome LOLOL!!!! Wish I could go, too. Loved the Harriet and Jamie interview. Thank you WDW. Jake is such a flirt and such a bad ass!!! "It's just you and me right now!" Right. What a line. That was delightful! That is right up there as one of my favorites from this week so far, right along with his stop on Regis and Kelly.
Letterman was just too short.I loved it, tho.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Carla - thanks so much for posting - I appreciate that, and your kind words. I'm very glad WDW is your first 'click' and also that the interview works for you. I have developed a passion for film festivals, not least because of the people I've met at them. The atmosphere is incredible and also very exotic. Jake's presence doesn't hurt... I agree that Rendition may have a better reception in Europe.

Get Real - I'm so glad the download works! That's a new one for me. I'm wondering if Teresa had more success today - she was going to have a go :)

Hey Bobbyanna - I wish you were going too - we had so much fun in Toronto :) This is a flying visit indeed.

I wasn't so keen on the Regis interview (except for Jake's Rome comment, which made my year). I peferred the Letterman Show but worfully too short.

Okay, checked Ellen's site and you have to check out this video preview of Jake (it's at the bottom of description under his name). It is adorable and you see him cooking!! See it HERE.

Hey Anon (I wish I had a name to thank you by!) - thanks so much for that - one of my greatest fantasies has been to see Jake in a PINNY! It's going to come true - I have to lie down....

to laugh on the way to work in London is disapproved of
So is laughing(and squeeing and generally yapping away like a 13 year old) on the way HOME from London, especially in front of one's mortified daughter;) But do I care? No, I don't! So glad you've got a Ticket To Rome...She's got a ticket to Ro-oh-ome (I'm singing away to myself here!)
Thanks for all the links WDW! And thanks to Stephanie too, what would we do without her?!
Loved the Heart interview!! So funny, flirtacious Jake is just...*faints* Harriet was so funny, telling Jake her mum would love him, and how she'd never had a boyfriend with money before! And Jake is such a gentleman, isn't he, insisting on paying. Loved Jamie playing gooseberry too (I've always had a soft spot for Jamie). Brilliant stuff!!
The TV interviews were fantastic too. I love seeing so many sides of Jake, how he can go from funny and witty to serious in the space of a few minutes, and he's always so sharp and eloquent. These interviews are as much of a performance as his films, in that he has to know how to capture the audience, draw them in and keep them hooked and he does that seemingly effortlessly. And as a fully paid up member of the anti-beard brigade, I have to say he looks positively scrumptious with the beard as it is now, just trimmed back a bit. It can stay as long as he likes if he keeps it like that;D *swoon*

Thanks to Theresa also for sharing your account of meeting Jake :) "You're here for 50cent" Aww, bless him! (Jake, not 50 lol!)

Must dash now, I have a date in front of the TV in about 5 minutes:)

Later;)

WOW,you're going to Rome,WDW! Where do you get your chutzpah, where do you get your energy, where do you get your tickets, where do you get the money, how do you get out of work, how do you swing it past Mr.WDW?!!! Nah,ignore me,I'm only jealous, but pleased as punch for you too.

You make your own luck,so they say,and your determination and devotion to Jake and your fellow Gyllenhaalics mean you deserve all the lucky breaks you get!

While on the jealousy theme,I'm most envious of you as well Teresa, but good on yer kiddo, too!

And as for Harriet Whatserface (only read your precis so far,am psyching myself up for listening to the interview when I have time)...I think she'll have to be joining "Miss Pretty in Pink" from outside the Letterman show on my ever-lengthening hit list!

Just off to get back in my strait-jacket before the medical staff let me watch "Film 2007" on account of my good behaviour. Hah,but they don't know what I'm thinking,do they...

KeepCalm+CarryOn said...

One of my fantasies too,WDW! Jake in a pinny - nothing else, just a pinny! I bet he could produce some first class buns!

twistedlogic said...

Hey, Anon, thank you for that Ellen preview!! My mouth's watering now, and it's nothing to do with the food;D

Anonymous said...

Jake and cinnamon buns - the pefect fantasy!

KeepCalm+CarryOn said...

Jonathan Ross just atoned for any of the short-comings of his interview technique with Jake last Friday!

What a ringing endorsement of "Rendition" as a project and a finished film,of the cast in general and,of course, high praise for Jake, who was eloquent and heart-felt as usual in the all-too-short snippets of the "Film 2007" interview. The triumphs of Jake week just keep building and building!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Twisted Logic - just loving your new blogger ID! Hot pic :D I've always had a soft spot for Jamie too and I think he could see he's met his match here in sexiness. As for Harriet, well she was a goner. Can't say I blame her.

Hey Nadine - I know I've a screw loose somewhere. I had holiday to use up... My trips for Jake are extremely brief! This time I'll try not to get sick afterwards - that would be a first ;)

This is fantasy material indeed Pia, TL and Nadine

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Nadine - I'm just putting a post up!

KeepCalm+CarryOn said...

Wish I could stick around for that post,WDW,but I think I'm going to have to be a lightweight and hit the hay :-(

And WDW,it's not you,me or our Gyllen-sisters(and brothers!) who are crazy - it's the rest of the world!

Sweet dreams everybody, night night all :-)

Thanks for uploading the Heart Breakfast interview. And for the transcript, that makes it much easier for me to understand what they said :-)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Thanks Chestnut - that's a big reason behind why I do transcripts - not everyone can easily understand - or download - the originals. I want everybody to experience what Jake has to say :)

Was that a shout-out to you know who? we'll never know:)

This is a happy day for me. Jake likes short women AND women who keeps pens in their imposing bosoms. It's clear I am on his mind. Plus he did a few banshee yells with Jon Stewart. He's sending me a message and it's coming through loud and clear. I'm coming my darling, and my ankle is ready for the snap! I can't wait to see what secret message he has for me on Ellen in a few hours.

xx Em

Kate - so glad you're going to Rome. You've done a fantastic job keeping us updated on both sides of the pond!
