I'm thrilled that, for the first time, we can hear from Jake himself that he is indeed doing the 'Moon Project' about the private expedition to colonise the moon.
This gives Jake the perfect answer to yet another question about whom he might be dating: 'You'll find the truth on the moon.'
This new WDWTL Production is brought to you with thanks to Twisted Logic for capturing this interview from today's lunchtime news on Channel 5, despite her emotional Rendition experience.

??? Aren't you supposed to be in/on your way to Rome? ;)
Seriously, thanks for posting. Generally Variety is a reliable source, but it's nice to have Jake's confirmation. I can't watch it yet, unfortunately, as I am still stuck at work, in my personal countdown to Rendition.
Hi Cherita! As a scifi nut, this was wonderful to hear Jake say it himself. He says he wanted to be an astronaut and the moon is an extraordinary place for people of his generation. This is some of the best news of the week for me :D
Yep, I'm off to Rome tomorrow afternoon - a very brief visit because all of the planes are full - apparently there's a film festival on... Should have thought about that.
Hi WDW, thanks for the little extra's...they just add to this incredible journey. I hope he does the moon...I love scifi stuff too ***Gyllenmoon*** hee hee.
I loved Rendition the second time around, only one word comes to mind right now, AWESOME!!!
I'm also sipping some Stella right now, it's very good, I hope it's true that this is his fav drink, I had to try it, as Jake would say I also can be a little "intense".
Hi CWG! It looks like it's happening - so good to hear. Hope you enjoy the Stella - I'm looking forward to stocking up on some duty free!
CWG, you hope he "does" the moon! Me, too They surely have chosen the guy with the "Right Stuff" (haha cf Apollo) to populate a planet! Wow! I can see we ain't seen nothin' yet!
p.s. Put together all of the compliments Jake has received during the week - Jon Stewart's comment on his "virility" - Alison: "my you're FIT" hahaha - Jonthan Ross: what a MANLY beard! along with JRs admiration of Jake's muscular stomach. Ellen:
"the perfect man"
No wonder Jake was chosen to populate a planet. This was a real no brainer! (although the moon is not classified presently as a planet many astronomers say it should be.)
Hey Positively Pia - I love the idea of 'Right Stuff' (one of my favourite films) Jake having to populate a planet with a few (willing) volunteers!
That's so funny Pia - these hosts have been falling over themselves to praise Jake's virility and beauty the most :D
Oh WDW,
I just got back from a matinee of Rendition - it is stunning, and heartbreaking. I won't say anything much so as not to spoil it for anyone, just some initial thoughts - the colors, music, story, and everyone's performances, are outstanding. Jake was such a different Jake than we've seen, as you said, WDW, he was amazing. Peter was too, Meryl, Reese, Alan Arkin, Omar Metwalley, Yigal Naor, Zineb Oukach and Moa Khouas, J.K. Simmons, just everyone, is outstanding.
All my thoughts are rushing around right now, so I'll write something more coherent once they've settled down - but it was a great film in every way, every subtlety coming together to make one magnificent, whole film.
How a film starts is always something I look forward to, and Renditionit starts out like opening the pages of an old book, stepping back in time, even though it's the present, with the old architecture, windows and turmeric-colored brick buildings of North Africa. You can practically feel the heat of the morning. *sigh* Absolutely stunning.
Happy to hear about another new project for Jake too. :)
Yes, he is stunning the known world! So we're not crazy, after all! (But how do we benefit from this? Do we get A TRIP TO THE MOON? ("around the world"?) sorry, a week of Jake has gotten me incredibly hot.
Hey Positively Pia I can't get my mind out of the gutter what can I say, heehee!!! I don't know how much more I can take really, Stella, Rendition and talking dirty about Jake...lock me up now!!! :D
Oh Marina - thanks for telling me about your first impressions - the colour and the music were so incredible. I loved the opening of Zodiac on 4 July with the fireworks and Music. This film got me from the beginning too - I loved the colour. The music is sensational.
You're not crazy Pia :)
Hi CWG - I think it's all a bit much! Jakesensationoverload :D
lock me up, too CWG - and to top this week by goin' to Rome? Last time I was there I got my butt pinched by young guys while walking with my husband! wine and the food! Redford! and the Ultimate who's gonna populate the effing moon?
Sorry. Im a basket case, after this week. Lotta luck WDW - take your meds, chat up the paps and reporters, get into the Renditon after party - and JUMP HIM for me.
right. o my!
I really wanted to restrain myself, Pia, and discuss such a serious subject without having it degrade into a drool-fest about how absolutely delicious Jake looks waking up in bed - very, very, (did I say very?) sensual. It's probably one of the sexiest things I have ever seen, just a fine sheen of sweat covering him, just his beautiful torso and body hair, arm raised over just-waking-up eyes and lips. All the detail on the bedside table, the beautiful old architecture of the open window, and as I said, you can practically feel the heat of the day. He's stunning. Sorry!
Of course, the several stories had me tense and heartbroken, I couldn't take my eyes off the screen for a minute, had to feel around my purse for tissues, and barely ate my popcorn. My feelings - no matter what someone has done, it's just fundamentally wrong, wrong, wrong, even though some feel it is right. The film is incredible.
Hey WDW...thanks for posting the interview...I must say ..the boy is still looking fine despite the beard...still loving the short hair. I do remember in one of the interviews that Jake made mention that his character for brothers has a beard because he has been in prison for three years...so I am hopeful that..at some time during the movie...he will shave it off!! :-) Also..very excited about the moon movie...
Jake is a very happy man today since his Red Sox won last night!! I would love to hear him interviewed on ESPN..sometime talking strictly sports...that would be so great. Alas..I will probably not get to see Renditon until after my vacation..so I will have to live vicariously through everyone else's experiences...this site is the best...Michele
Oh me too, WDW! I was reminded of how much I loved the opening of Zodiac when Rendition just unfolded!. It's an amazing film. Hope my description above wasn't too spoilery! ;)
O god Marina! did you have to do this? everyone else has been very high toned about this film. this may push me over the brink!
Oh I'm so sorry - WDW, if my post above is too spoilery, please feel free to delete it. I don't want to give anything away! :)
It's seriously great news that Jake has confirmed that he will be doing the Moon Project. More Jakey films to look forward to!
Marina - that scene is right at the very beginning of the film and JR referred to it too. Your description of it was absolutely stunning and I loved it. All of the bits and pieces around Jake in that scene - it's fascinating and one that makes me long for the DVD and not just for the obvious.
Positively Pissed Pia - I've been made a basket case too. It's the strangest most wonderful week and this weekend will be extraordinary and unreal. I'm going to need you all to digest all this!
Thanks so much Michele - I hope you get to see the film very soon. And this Moon project is great, great news and fills me with excitement for the future - two films in quick succession.
It is great news Rosie!
We'll be here when you return, WDW, with arms and ears and our own version of the Borghese gardens for you!
There are so many things I feel driven to comment on from the last two great posts,I'll try and keep it as brief as I can.
I sort of knew the GMTV interview would be brief and vacuous, they do empty-headed so well, none more so than Carla Romano,Jake's inquisitor here. She once asked Jon Voigt about Angelina during a red carpet interview, seemingly oblivious to the long-standing rift between him and his daughter, so should we be surprised that she renegued on her promise to keep to the "Rendition" questions. I loved the icily charming way in which he put her in her place, impudent mare!
Good to see Jake so enthusiastic about the Moon project film in the 5 News interview too, although that also descended into the realms of the gossip rag, much to Jake's obvious chagrin and the film critic spoke fluent gibberish in some respects. Jake is always so serious he said! Has he been living in a cave for the last week,do you think?
Before I get off my soap box, ranting in exasperation at media excesses and peddling of rumour,I hope to God this Brokeback sequel article is just a pitiful fabrication to fill up a few column inches. Some things are just too sacred to meddle with and "Brokeback" is one of them. I would be so surprised/disappointed if Heath really is considering this and the premise suggested in the magazine that the sequel would show the problems Ennis faces when he finally decides to come out is just preposterous! If he couldn't bring himself to come out for Jack Twist, the love of his life, then it wasn't ever going to happen! Excuse me while I shudder at the thought of a follow-up!
Back to "Rendition". WDW,I was feeling pretty shaken up after watching the film, all mixed up with intense pride in Jake for his wonderful performance and I really needed to "speak" to someone who understood. Who else would I think of reaching first but you, hence the e-mail from my phone while I was still sitting shell-shocked while the credits rolled, and another missive once I got home. Thanks for being there as an empathetic friend and a sounding board. As I said to you then, amid an array of fabulous performances,Omar Metwally blew me away and Jake...in becoming Douglas he gave a master-class in subtlety,a powerful vindication of the theory "less is more". I've said it before but it is such a privelege to watch him grow as a man and as an actor.
And I haven't even had time to see Jake on Ellen's show yet! From what you've all said, watching that will be the perfect pick-me-up to lessen the shivers of a haunting film. Ironically enough,I took out a mortgage to buy a packet of Starbursts at the cinema, although I didn't touch them once the film had started. I'll have to take down the recipe to use them up!
And as for your trip to Rome,WDW. God bless, take care and have a fabulous time! Should you happen to meet His Gorgeousness,if you can stop shaking and get your words out, don't forget to tell him how much he's loved and admired out here! :-)
So much for keeping it brief! Sorry!
Nadine, I love your posts because you always say exactly what I want to say, and not only do you save me the trouble, but you do it so much better than me :)
That reviewer on Five really pissed me off not cos he didn't guve Rendition a glowing review (he's entitled to his opinion even if it's wrong;) but because he didn't have a clue what he was talking about. Jake is always serious? I actually shouted at the telly when he said that! I feel like emailing him a link to this site and telling him to check out all this week's videos. And then he said that Jake's dad was a scriptwriter and his mum a...he clearly had no idea cos his voice just trailed off. If people can't even be bothered to do the most basic research before opening their mouths on national TV, why on earth should anyone take their opinion seriously? No wonder Jake wants to go to the Moon, probably to get away from all these idiots he has to deal with him asking him stupid pointless questions. You'd think the Five woman would have remembered the awkwardness from last time she asked him about his love-life, during a Zodiac interview, but no...And as for BBM the sequel...well, WDW told me not to even waste my time reading it and now I wish I'd followed her advice. It's too wrong to even contemplate.
Anyway, enough ranting, more Rendition! Still can't over the experience, I know this film is going to be playing over and over in my mind for the next few daysat least. Thanks to all of you for sharing your thoughts:) Once again, I'm so grateful to live in an age when technology allows us to share the experience with people who feel the same way.
I loved to read that so many of you left your popcorn and/or sweets untouched because I hardly ate any of my pic&mix either. Btw, Nadine, I always go to Woolworths first and get my sweets and drink there, I refuse to be ripped off by the exhorbitant prices they charge at cinemas.
I'm listening to the haunting music on the Rendition site at the moment and it's bringing it all back to me. I know I said I wouldn't compare Rendition to BBM, but this music reminds me of parts of the music in BBM,it has that eerie ghostly feel of the scenes after FNIT.
I wish I could go and see Rendition again tomorrow (or right now!) because there was so much to take in I just know that I must have missed loads of stuff and I was too caught up in the storylines to fully appreciate the atmosphere and sounds and colours of the film. What I did take in was so compelling that I need to watch it again just to enjoy (not the right word, but I can't think what is atm) again.
I can't express how much I loved this film, and I would've done even if it didn't feature THAT scene with Jake. But for giving us that glorious cherry on the icing of a perfect cake- Gavin Hood, I salute you and thank you from the bottom of my heart. Whatever happens after this you can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned.
And neither can WDW! thank you so much for calling me back, I really appreciate you letting me vent my thoughts and sharing yours with me:) Sorry about the email mix up earlier! If I don't speak to you before Rome, have a WONDERFUL time and give Jake a big kiss from me;)
Can't wait to read all about your adventures.
WDW you have a beautiful time in "Bella Roma" and I hope you have wonderful adventures with the Italian Gyllenhaalics you encounter...not to mention Jake! Tell us everything!!!LOL!! And be safe.
PerezHilton, of all people, (!) really took the magazine to task and told them to stop lying! He talked to Heath's people and to Focus Films and they said there was absolutely no truth to a BBM sequel.
I am loving the "Moon Project!" Now, greedy wench that I am, I'd like for Jake to announce about fifty other new projects. OK. Ten.
Rendition is indescribable. I hope people won't be affected by the critics and will make up their own minds to see it. I've bee touting it to my customers. (Being that I'm a bookseller lOL!!) They say, "Oh. The Reese Witherspoon(insert Meryl Streep) movie and I say, "Yes. I saw a sneak preview and it is just wonderful! Reese/Meryl will get an Oscar!" And they get all excited.
To tell the truth.......
((((TwistedLogic)))) Thank you for your lovely words and for then going on to post a great comment of your own!
I normally do take a bottle of water and sweeties from home when I go to the cinema but I had neither handy yesterday and had no time to buy them on the way (the nightmare journey there, thinking I'd miss the start of the film, led to a stream of expletives and a surge in my blood pressure). Therefore I had to endure the financial amputation of 5 pounds for a bag of Starbursts and a bottle of water. Talk about fleecing a captive audience! They might get more bums on seats if they weren't so determined to rip people off.
I'd had a chat with the chap in the box office on the way in,he seemed quite a film buff,so I popped back to see him on the way out, told him he should definitely see "Rendition" and that he should definitely recommend it to anyone contemplating seeing it.
Thanks Bobbyanna for the reassurance from the unexpected source of Perez Hilton that Focus Features and Heath's spokesfolks say there is no foundation at all in the rumour of a "Brokeback" sequel. Thank the Lord for that!
Here's to a great weekend for Gyllenhaalics one and all, for Jake and "Rendition" in Rome and, of course, especially for our glorious leader,WDW!
Hiya, yes, sorry,it's me again, but I just had to drop back before RL gets me by the throat to say that I've finally caught up with you all and seen Jake on "Ellen".
So funny,Jake getting all scatalogical and loved up with the gorgeous Miss De Generes. They obviously really click and I love the way she teases him. It's evident that she adores him and who can blame her?!
In fact, big hugs to (((Ellen))) because apparently she broke down on TV the other day, really upset by a dog adoption that had gone pear-shaped,indeed was so upset that she was unable to work for a day or two. As someone who gets more emotional about animals than virtually anything else,I hope, WDW, you won't mind me sending Ellen a cyber-hug from here to cheer her up and for loving our man :-)
Thank you so much WDW and TL for all the amazing vids in the posts all this week of Jake's appearances. Glad to hear so many of you got to see Rendition for yourself. Jake was just adorable on Letterman, Conan, Ellen, and all the UK shows as well!
I'm awaiting with anticipation WDW, to hear all the goings on in Rome!
Glad we got a confirmation from the man himself, about doing the Moon Project film. Jake in space, sounds good to me! The director, Doug Liman happens to have a sci fi movie coming out this coming Feb. called Jumper with Jamie Bell that looks interesting.
I did find it hard to believe regarding the OK mag news about the BBM sequel....I couldn't really see Heath agreeing to doing another BBM movie, since it sounds like he wants to move on by a comment he made at an award ceremony in Australia when he won an award for BBM. Glad to hear there is no truth to this BBM sequel story.
Morning everyone :) I'm off in a couple of hours so I'm just contemplating packing...
Thanks so much for these wonderful posts. Nadine Please don't apologise for the length of your comments, I love every word and I'm not the only one. With Rendition there is so much to say.
Twisted Logic - thanks for your lovely long comment too :) That man was an idiot, and an ill-informed idiot at that. Jake 'serious' - yes, when he has to be but.... Ooh, there's just no point. I hope you see Rendition again very soon. As far as emotional impact goes, for me there's only one other comparable film and that's Brokeback.
Hi Bobbyanaa - thanks! Unfortunately I'm only in Rome two days but they're going to be packed. Thanks for that Perez Hilton story - interesting to have an ally there :)
Morning Moon Girl :)
Thanks Jantoinette - I'm relieved it all looks like hokum too :)
Thanks so much for your updates.
I'm really looking forward to Rendition - opens on the 25th over here.
