Jake out with Robert Downey Jr and yet more talk of yet more roles

If I had to say who was one of my favourite co-stars of Jake's, I would have to say Robert Downey Jr for so many reasons (one including a certain bright blue cocktail), not least because he was the one to coin the concept of Wet Dark and Wild Jake Gyllenhaal. So how wonderful to see new pictures this evening of Jake and Robert looking as close as ever.

The photographs were taken last night in West Hollywood at the Key Club on Sunset Strip where Robert's son, the fabulously named Indio Falconer Downey, was playing with his band Jack Bambi's. And also enjoying the company of Jake and Robert is the lovely Trudi Styler, the British actress and wife of Sting.

Red Sox victory

The Red Sox could have done far worse than have Jake Gyllenhaal as their mascot - this morning in the UK we heard the good news that Jake's team won the World Series. This even made the freebie London papers today - not surprisingly, it also made the Boston papers... And there at the bottom of one article (Boston.com Sports), in a discussion of hero Jon Lester, is this little snippet: 'Jake Gyllenhaal is already lined up to play the lead in "The Jon Lester Story," a major motion picture coming soon to theaters near you.' Make of that what you will.

Talking of Jake and associated roles, thanks to UltraViolet for coming across an article in Variety (one of our favourite sources) which refers to Jake and another prospective role: Nailed. In a brief discussion of IM Global's future plans, we hear the 'deal preceded the American Film Market, where IM Global will be shopping such titles as Capco-financed pic "The Prodigy," starring Richard Gere; "Nailed," directed by David O. Russell and starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Biel; and "44 Inch Chest," starring Ray Winstone, Ian McShane and Tim Roth.' So is it possible for Jake to be too busy? I think not.

I'm going to be your first post? The joy of GMT :)

Great reading as usual, WDW. Really hoping RDJ's hair is for a role.

Thanks NADINE for your Frank Gardner comments on the previous thread; as so often you write for me so I don't have to bother :) *

Hey Anouska - that was my first thought too on seeing RDJ's hair! Jake may have the beard but at last he's not had to go Strawberry blonde! And yes, Nadine's comments are great, you hear us, Nadine?

Thanks for all the updates! But i don't like Jake being in a movie with Jessica Biel. She is a bad actress, sorry to her fans, but i think she is.
I think RDjr is also attractive as a blond!

Great investigative work Kate! :)

Hi Anon Thanks for commenting - as is well known here, I can rarely tell one HW actress from another and wouldn't recognise Jessica Biel if she flicked her gravy at me in a cafe. I do know she was one of the names - along with Jake's - bandied around for that League of Justice project but she turned it down. I think I prefer the lovely RDJ with his dark hair - matches his eyes :) I'd love to have a name to go with your post!

Welcome Montagne! Good to see you here and thanks for commenting *)

Isn't Jessica Biel the new Scar-Jo or something? Hollywood actresses are very interchangable at the moment.

This is the best source for Jake info anywhere...good finds WDW, I'm thoroughly impressed. What great pics of him and RDJr. together, glad they manitained a relationship, I'm not surprised. I love them both (I'm, a reformed RDJr. fan). He was actually my Jake Gyllenhaal 10-15 years ago. Boy, Jake gets around, first halloween party, then out clubbing, all in one weekend. Then again the energy of a 26 year old is relentless.

Hey WDW! I redlined it all the way here when I read your text!! I LOVE these pics!! Thank you so much!!!! I don't even know why but they've put a huge grin on my face:D RDJ's hair shocking but somehow he gets away with it, he's just so cool...And Jake looks so yummy with the beard trimmed a bit!I don't mind it too much like that. And considering that he has to do it for his role I realy appreciate him compromising and meeting me halfway like that;)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Bmg - I know I should try better to tell them apart but I just haven't seen the flms yet that make me want to do that.

Hey, thanks CWG! I've had a thing about RDJ for a long time and was so happy when I heard he was in Zodiac - and I was not disappointed. Oh, I think Jake's got a great social life. I love seeing bands and being out with friends - nothing better :D

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi TL - these are fabulous pics and they've put a grin on my face too. Jake looks gorgeous and definitely a little trimmed - he must've heard you and is compromising :D Cheers!

The word patootie mostly refers to a butt, so hot patootie is just right for Jake! Horse's behind is called "patoot"

Love RDJ as a strawberry blond, and Im glad the tall blonde looker was identified - I like parties - Im ooozing jealousy! Is Jake wearing the same t he wore Halloween?

Thanks so much for these pictures! Couldnt get into iheartjake - guess they forgot to pay their bills, I can relate to that.

Love these pics of Jake and RDJ!! They have such a warmth together. It sure put a big smile on my face. :D They were so good together in Zodiac and it seemed they developed a great friendship. Wonderful to see Jake also supporting Robert's son. Also, fun to see Trudie Styler aka Mrs. Sting. ;)

Wow, more roles for Jake?!?! Wonder if these will come to any fruition.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Positively Pia - I love these parties too - I think we should have had an invite. It looks like the same t to me :)

Hi Get Real - these put a big smile on my face too. I love to see Jake and RDJ together. And Trudi has been in some really good British dramas over the years - I think she knows how to have fun too.

Never enough roles...

Hi WDW:)
New movie talk and great snaps of Jake having a blast with his good friends, RD Jr. and Trudi Skylar. TYTYTY.
I'm glad he had a driver...sensible smart move. I hope some of these movies pan out; we can never have too many Jake movies

Hi WDW!

Lots to catch up on! I still have to watch the Frank Gardner interview.

And a big thanks to Jake - I think he brought the Sox good luck when he visited Fenway!

Also, I happened to see the Donnie Darko production at the A.R.T. (American Repertory Theater) in Cambridge on Saturday night with friends. Being such fans of the original, we were curious, and not a little skeptical - and it was pretty faithful to the movie, and quite enjoyable. Although there will only ever be one Donnie Darko, Ed McCabe did a great job as Donnie, as did Thomas Derrah as Jim Cunningham. :)

Hmmm . . . what's next, maybe now I'll even see Brokeback Mountain, the opera? ;)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Thanks Sass - isn't it great to see Jake having so much fun. And it looks like this time he could get as tipsy as he liked ;) And never enough movies.

Hey Marina - I've missed you! Thanks very much for telling us about the DDarko production - if you get the urge to tell us more about it please do, I'm interested. I'll pretend I didn't read the last sentence :D Good to see you!

Hello folks, finally got here! Thank you so much WDW and Anouska for your lovely words,it's a privelege to post here! I'm glad I echo much of what you're thinking and get it down in print,Anouska, but I'm sure we'd love to hear more from you too!

What lovely photographs,WDW. It was so good to read in a recent interview (posted here,no doubt!) that Jake is happy to have found a genuine and lasting friendship with RDJ and these pictures are joyous proof of it. I'm sure the bleached hair must be for a role and while I much prefer his look when in Paul Avery mode(give that man a Supporting Actor Oscar!),Robert still looks delightfully rakish here!

And Trudi Styler too. I haven't seen any of her work, although Frances Tomelty tells me that her one-time friend plays the husband-stealer to perfection ;-) She is wearing a distinctly predatory look here...probably wondering if an energetic 26 year old is game for a few hours of tantric sex
;-) ;-) Hehehehe, sorry, got my naughty head on again tonight!

Isn't it great that so many potential roles seem to be in the offing for Jake?! He must have realised how severe are our withdrawal symptoms if we go too long between film releases and that WDW needs a regular Red Carpet fix to ward off the DT's. Typical of Our Precious to show us such consideration :-)

WDW--great job on the Boston.com quote about Jake in the "John Lester story". What's up with that!?! I read that this AM as well in the Boston paper and did a total double take. I mean, I was reading along about our great Red Sox and a total non-sequitur pops up, about Jake of all people!! Go figure!!

Wishful thinking perhaps...I guess there are more than a few people in Boston who are Jake fans!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Nadine - great comment - thanks :) and some naughty Nadine too... Trudi definitely has her 'I'm with this hot guy and you can get your mitts off' kind of look going on. And who can blame her...

I love to see Jake continue with the friendships from his films and the affection between Jake and RDJ is pretty evident to anyone.

And yes, keep on taking the roles, Jake. I need my red carpet experiences to keep me going through the year! I feel like I'm becoming an expert on carpet ;)

Hi Jasmine - good to see you again. Absolutely nothing wrong with Jake taking on a heroic Red Sox role :) I just need more sources (remembering the Namath story) - I think there are definitely a whole load of Red Sox Jake fans out there - and over here in the UK we have our dreams of seeing Jake support our favourite football/cricket teams. Although I admit I may be the only one here with cricket fantasies :)

Hey Marina! I'd love to hear more about the stage version of DD when you have time! Like how did they do the special effects, like the tube things coming out of people's chests?

WDW, if you're still up and about, check your email!

Thanks Twisted Logic - I needed cheering up *)

What a great story. Mr. Downey, like so many of us, doesn't want to stop touching Jake. great to see him having fun.

And thanks for the movie role news.

Good morning everyone - a beautiful day in London :)

Welcome Barbara - thanks for commenting :) RDJ is definitely under the influence of the Gyllencharm of the supremely huggable Jake.

Have a good day!

Thanks for the lovely update, although I'm fairly sure Trudi is American, not British.

You shouldn't mention cricket, I'm currently having lovely visions of Jake in cricketing whites :-) and in my fantasies he's a Spurs man.

Add me to the love RDJ list, adore that man, although hopefully the hair is for a role, and not a fashion statement. Would love to see him work with Jake again, a really smart, intelligent comedy would be my dream.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Anon - thanks for the comment - that image of Jake in cricketing whites is something I'm not going to chase out of my mind in a hurry :) I bet he'd be great at cricket...So Trudi's American - she can certainly do an impeccable English accent :)

I love the idea of a Jake and RDJ doing a smart intelligent comedy together, and I'd bet they would too.

Hey WDW et. al:

Haven't been around too much lately because I've been playing on my LJ. I forgot to ask you , WDW, if it would be okay to provide a link for you on my LJ? Well I did. So let me know if you prefer not and I'll take the link off.

In other news -- yay Jake is hanging out and having fun with RDJ. I love them together, they were fantastic in Zodiac. Did you ever see the pix of E-stalk and me drinking that famous blue drink? Lol. Anyways, good to see our boy wearing his favourite T-shirt walking arm in arm with his buds. And how did Trudi get to score that treat? I hate her. And not just because she's tall. She's doing that tantric thing with Sting. Sigh. Some girls have all the luck.

Which brings us to Jessica Biel. YUCK. From Seventh Heaven to Jake Co-star? The mind boggles.

Loving the articles, WDW. Keep em coming. xx Em

Oh, Anon 11:24 here, I'm heading into central London on Saturday, if I see a copy of Fabric with Jake on the cover, would you like me to get you a copy, I can work out how to get it to you later?

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Em! - that's great you put a link on your LJ - which I'm a big fan of, by the way ;) I'd love to see pics of you with the blue drink which I'm very keen to try myself!

Anon - If you can get hold of Fabric for me I would be so thrilled, I can't tell you! I've been phoning around, visiting property agents etc but to no luck and October is almost out. I reckon the best bet may be around Knightsbridge/Kensington. You just need to email me :) The address is on the side bar of the front page. Good luck and thank you!

twistedlogic said...

and in my fantasies he's a Spurs man.

Hey Anon! I respect your opinion, but I almost spat tea all over the screen when I saw that! Cricket whites, no problem. Tennis whites, even better. Real Madrid white, wonderful. But Spurs white??? Sorry, but as an Arsenal fan I would have to seriously re-consider my relationship with Jake if that happened;) Jake has to be an Arsenal fan- a team that's top of the league and epitomises the concept of "sexy football" is the natural team for him to support :D

But good luck with the Fabric hunt, it would be great and hugely appreciated if you could get hold of it:D

Anonymous said...

A Spurs fan? Nooo! Like top celebrities Kevin spacey, kevin Costner, Roger Daltrey and that guy who used to be in So Solid Crew, he must spiritually be an Arsenal fan!

twistedlogic said...

Hey Bmg!So you're a fellow Gooner as well as Gyllenhaalic - cool! Just to add to your list: Alan Davies (Jonathan Creek), David Gest, Matt Lucas, Prince Harry and er...Osama bin Laden,or so I read somewhere!!

I don't know what your anon @11.24 was talking about - Trudie Styler is a Brummie. Born and raised.

Oh and it's Indio Falconer Downey. Not Indigo. Either way, still a great name.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi everyone!

Hey Twisted Logic and bmg I would definitely say that Jake would happily support whichever football team you wish and no doubt bring it luck. What with all this talk of London teams though, do I hear no support for Chelsea? Anouska must have signed off! And that's a nice touch with Bin Laden TL! What on earth have you been reading... Did they say so in Rendition?

Hi Positively Pia - that's a great article. Thanks. i read it this morning but didn't notice the audio section. It's in the new post :D

Hey Felicia - These brummies are everywhere - and I can say that as I'm half one myself ;) Can I say I like Indigo better? It's one of my favourite colours.

See, Nadine does it again. I was thinking of Frances Tomelty too, and all that other stuff.

Late welcomes to montagne * :)
