Jake Gyllenhaal's back in LA and he's got a new shirt (or is it? - see picture from 2004 below). Yesterday he was photographed in Beverly Hills, apparantly by a medical center, suggesting that filming, and all of the prechecks that that seems to involve, is about to begin. But, considering that almost every other building in that part of town is a medical center of one sort or another, who knows?
Jake and Reese have made the tabloids again but the magazines and sites seem to have missed the main issue with these pictures - how many cakes does one couple need? I know that if you find a good bakery you should take advantage but two big bags packed full of cupcakes, pastries and bread and other mouthwatering treats? Having said all that, I'm now extremely hungry.
News on Brothers
The governor of New Mexico, Bill Richardson, has confirmed that Brothers is to be filmed in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and will begin shooting on 27 November and will carry on through to January 30. It's interesting to consider how the governor has been using the movie industry to bring jobs and money into his scenic state. This talk of governors makes me want to post pictures of Jake in a speechmaking and political stance (note shirts).
'The film will be shot in and around Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Las Vegas, Abiquiu and Glorieta from November 27 to January 30 and expects to hire approximately 250 New Mexico crew members and over 1,000 actors for principal roles and background talent... Since Richardson took office, over 85 feature film and television projects have shot in the state, adding over $1.2 billion dollars to New Mexico’s economy.'
In more Brothers news, Variety reports that Clifton Collins Jr is to join the cast of Brothers, after (or before) he's done filming his part in the new Star Trek movie (WDW says, trying desperately hard to sound like she's not at all as almost excited by the Trekkie news as she is with the Brothers news).
Jake and Maggie doing a voiceover for a computer game?
A site reported today that a new computer game is in the making and, amongst the starry voices narrating, are those of Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal. The site says: 'Kindly turn to the right hand column of this page for links to other episodes of Larry Winchester’s A Town Called Disdain, soon to be a smashing new computer game from Ha! Karate (featuring the voices of Jake Gyllenhaal, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Ralph Fiennes, and Billy Bob Thornton.)'
Speaking as someone who loves battling away and putting the world to rights on her PS2 and who would have Jake as her character avatar if she owned a Wii, I love this idea. I've not been able to find out anything else about it as yet, but it made me grin, so that'll do for now.
Afterthought: There is a pap video from the weekend of Jake and Reese talking in the street. If you want to see it, here it is. I'm aware that there are more pictures (inside restaurants) of Jake and Reese's weekend, and I believe these way too intrusive to post. I consider each image and video on its own merit and make an undemocratic decision accordingly.
Includes pictures from IHJ and US Weekly.

Hi everyone :D So much going on, I'm worn out. Talk to me!
Hey WDW! What do you want to talk about? The weather? The Government? Or the fact that Jake was clearly reading our comments on the other thread and decided to show us a look we hadn't mentioned ie the ripped jeans and checked Ennis-style shirt - Jake can read my slashy mind like a book! And I love how he hangs his sunglasses to maximise the chest hair exposure *drool* Nice one, Jake! Thank you;)
I bet more people asked Jake to prove what it says on his "democrats" top than acttually voted in the election;)
I lost my comment again!! Everyone, copy your comment before you post tonight because Blogger is hungry.
I was saying.... TL - Jake is definitely listening and put his blue jumper in the wash. I love this look. And you noticed the chest hair? ;)
Just tell me where to vote...
Hey WDW, thanks for the great post, it was worth the wait :)
Jake has been busy and wearing you and the lot of us out. I can't keep track.
I saw the pics from the medical center and my initial impression was that he was donating his manliness to a sperm bank (wouldn't it be great having more Jakes in the world?). Then I read your post and quickly realized that you made more sense, clearance for the movie.
Okay, now some wine :)
Hi WDW! Very good stuff as usual. :D Looking forward to Jake starting Brothers. Guess he will have Thanksgiving and then be off to New Mexico! And Clifton Collins was excellent in Capote. Cool news about Jake and Maggie doing the computer game. I am not a gamer but I do know the Wii, playstation, etc. Plus, Jake looks so sexy strutting down the LA streets. :P
Hi CWG! There just aren't enough hours in the day... :D
Thanks Get Real - It's so exciting knowing how everything is working out for Brothers - makes me realise that it will be in the cinemas. I don't know Clifton's work but he sounds like another interesting choice - I wonder if he'll be one of Tobey's comrades. The game news is dead cool - should it be right.
White wine.
I've decided I'm moving to Santa Fe and I've put that video game on my Santa's wish list.
So as far as anyone knows is Boston out of the whole picture or set for a later date?
I could be wrong CWG but I think Boston's out of the picture - sounds like they've found all the locations they need in New Mexico (this could be familiar turf to Jake as he filmed much of Jarhead in the State, I believe).
So yeah, let's all get a house in Santa Fe for the winter!! And then we can all play the game...
Thanks for the tip about copying comments WDW! Jake's a good boy really, isn't he?;) Although the yellow trainers in the other pics didn't go unnoticed, but when he turns up looking like that I can't bring myself to be cross with him;) He's a smart one!
CWG - your thoughts of what Jake was doing at the Medical Centre made me giggle:D And actually, you're not that far off. It was established (er, by me!) on here a while ago that he's actually going through the process of having himself cloned in a bid to bring about world peace. The idea is everyone in the world gets their very own Jake to play "Dress Up Jake" with and everyone will be too busy having fun to bother starting wars and nasty stuff like that:)
That's so funny TL! And it's a well known fact amongst governments of the world that Jaking is good for the environment... (don't know why yet, but it is). And can I justsay, TL, leave his trainers alone :D So yes, we're cloning and we're sharing.
It looks ike the same shirt, doesn't it?
Okay TL, that's your new mission, to create a Jake dress up doll we can all have fun with :) I'm behind you 100%, the by product, world peace indeed, everyone would want one.
Here's a quick link from their wine country escapade, I'm officially jealous.

Hi CWG - these were the pictures I referred to on my main post ;) They're way too intrusive in my opinion.
I'm sorry WDW, I forgot that part of the post, please delete. I'm going back to reread it again so as not to make another hideous mistake. Didn't mean to offend :(
Don't worry CWG! I dont mind pap pics, as people will know, but I have a real problem with pictures in restaurants. You've not offended *)
I don't delete posts (except if they're very naughty) so I would be grateful if these pictures are not commented on here. Thank you, friends.
Hey WDW! Jaking is good for the environment cos Jake SWIMS for the environment and if it wasn't for us he'd have no reason to do so;)
CWG - If you're expecting me to come up with a way of cloning Jake then I'm sorry but you've got a long wait ahead. I'm just suggesting the concept, I'll leave the technical stuff to the experts. But if there's any hands-on research need doing like checking Jake for potential areas of improvement(unlikely, but it can't hurt to make sure), then I'm happy to volunteer:D
Funny WDW, I purposefully did not look at that site you posted yet I found it and commented about it on my own. My feelings are mutual.
Bummed about Boston (it's closer to me) but if anyone is serious about renting a place in Santa Fe you could count me in.
TL, I was referring to a doll, LOL!!!
That's so true TL - I'm glad you've proven beyond all reasonable doubt that Jake is good for the environment. If you need any extra measurements (inside leg maybe?) for the clones, do let me know... Glad to help. I can be selfless like that.
Jake dolls! I suppose they will have to do in the meantime CWG - are they lifesize?
LOL CWG! What can I say? ain't no reins on my imagination where Jake's concerned;) Btw, I do remember seeing an on-line Jake doll, like those cut out ones some of us of a certain age may remember (except they were girls not Jake!)
Hey WDW! I'm sure measuring Jake is more than a one woman job so the more the merrier! So kind of you to offer, are you sure it wouldn't be too much trouble?;)
I just noticed that Jake is wearing my very least favourite shoes of his - he's had those years - throw them away!
Anything you want TL and WDW, lifesize, hairy chest, etc. If it's life size then it has to be exact measurements, oh, I don't I'm thinking 8 inches or so what do ya think? I'm going strait to hell.
Hello guys! Any day is a good Jake day, on this site. Although I haven't yet recovered from the
"shocking" sarong confession.
The Jarhead filming site was, I believe, southern California and
Northern Baja, Mexico. However, City Slicker was filmed in New Mexico: although young Jake's scenes didnt require him to be there.
You know, December at Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu (Georgia O'Keefe country) one of the filming sites, would not be out of site $-wise. you can even camp on the grounds, I think! you can also rent a trailer, in NM, reasonably. Christmas in Santa Fe is magical.
Just sayin'.
Bubble Boy arrived today via Netflix.
baja and in the case of Southern California and Northern Baja, Mexico—
Hi Positively Pia! I reckon I ust have done the old trick of muddling New Mexico and Old Mexico up in my mind :) Abiquiu sunds just perfect... I'd say enjoy Bubble Boy but it's unnecessary - I know you will.
Okay WDW I've entered into two forbidden zones tonite and you still haven't deleted me, does that mean you like me?
I still love you CWG - but I'm watching you ;) :D
Hey WDW & Everyone! Certainly does sound like Brothers might not be filming in Boston huh?! Bummer for all the Bostonian's out there. By the way, I like the lumberjack look of Jake in these pics!
Neat to hear that Maggie and Jake might do the voices for a computer game. We know how great a narrator Jake was for the children's story, The Man Who Walked Between the Towers, and I recently discovered that Maggie did the audiobook version of a Sylvia Plath novel.
A bit OT if I may....Supposedly Ang Lee was at yesterday's NY premiere of I'm Not There. Heath was there at the premiere, and also premiered a new tat as well, LOL! Perhaps a bit of wishful thinking but, fingers crossed that Jake would maybe make an appearance at INT's LA premiere on the 21st.
If this has already been posted, my apologies if I missed it WDW....

Hey Jantoinette - good to see you. That is a great cover. I think people may wake up to the fact that Zodiac was one of the best films in the year - in my undoubtedly and unashamedly biased opinion, thee best film of the year.
It would be good if Jake were at the INT LA premiere but somehow I don't expect it. Shame though.
Ha, that's just the wine talking, but do you honestly blame me for such chatter?
:D G'night all, see you tomorrow :D
I thought it was a clever looking cover for Zodiac too WDW. Jeffrey Wells is always giving Zodiac praise over on his website, and has given it alot of Oscar buzz as well. Some of his readers are getting annoyed with him gushing over it, LOL. Too bad for them huh?!
"It would be good if Jake were at the INT LA premiere but somehow I don't expect it. Shame though."
Yeah, I agree with you WDW, I don't expect that happening either. As I mentioned, wishful thinking on my part, LOL.
Hi Jantoinette - I really admire and respect Jeffrey Wells for all he's done for Zodiac over the past few months - he's always supported it and raved about it.
Thanks for the latest WDW!! :)
OK. I was working at the book store tonight and I don't know how we got on the subject....honestly...anyway, I happened to mention to a customer that I was a big fan of Jake Gyllenhaal...well...that I had a huge crush on him... and she said, "Isn't he a doll!!! He's the guy from...Zodiac!!! I love him, too!" This was a 20 something African American woman, who happened to be buying some fashion magazine with a cute little blonde on the cover. Thanks for all the updates WDW!!! That's an old shirt isn't it???I remember a pic of him leaning against the wall at some club and he had on a leather jacket and that shirt?
HI WDW and everyone:)
Thanks for all this good Jake news. Clifton Collins Jr is a fantastic addition to the cast. I wish he had been nominated for Capote; he was so overlooked. They're ratcheting up this production big time. Jake doing voice for a computer game, is enough to make me mad crazy for 24/7 gaming.
Jake's comfy shoes make me smile and the shirt is just beautiful. Do I sound 15 yet?
Pia, you'll love Bubble Boy. I sure did, years ago on the big screen with my son, and now.
TY WDW and others here for the Jeffrey Wells information. I'll hurry over and read his comments later this week. What would I do without you?:)
sass
Morning everyone - and what a cold one, thick, thick fronsy :(
Hi<= Montagne :D
That's so funny Bobbyanna - thre are more of us than we think.... And yes, that's an old shirt. We know Jake's clothes possibly better than our own :)
Thanks Sass - I love the idea of the computer game and Brothers just gets better and better.
Have a good day and I'll catch up with you later :)
dockFlaming freezing isn't it WDW - not fun trying to walk down the road in a pair of boots where the heels just decided to start coming off - I may break my leg on the way home tonight :o (over dramatic much!)
Anyhoo - *adds Jake-Clone to Xmas list* - he's on my 'allowed' list, so the OH can't moan (but I may have to request a Pen Cruz Clone for him ;) )
Loving the lumberjack look :D And regarding the 'better lovers' shirt - my OH is American and a democrate - Jake is completely right ;)
It's cold and frosty up North too...I love this kind of weather, I'm keeping my fingers crossed it will be like this in Paris and NY.
Love the lumberjack shirt look on Jake, love any look on Jake. Lots of very long strides in those pics.
I would love to hear Jake and Maggie do a computer game voiceover, just hope it's something easy so I can play it! I can imagine them having the best time doing it.
I've been checking on the suggested places to go that CWG gave me for NYC. I love the look of "The Spotted Pig", and they do cocktails too, yay! Also like the look of Bar Pitti...I think I'm going to be spending my time eating, drinking and eating (and Jake/Heath spotting).
Oh it was good to see Jake in that shirt again...I love that look, I can't for the life of me remember where he was the night we got a series of pics of him in it, with a BEAUTIFUL leather jacket...and later with a baseball cap...hmm...some nice shots that night.
Thank you for all the 'Brothers' info too...you keep us so up to date, I hardly bother checking the web anymore....I just come here. Thank you!
I'm not a computer game person myself..but I tell you what, if Jake does a voice on one...I'm playing it...non stop too. Oh God, another addiction to control!
I hope Zodiac does get nominated for Oscars. It deserves it.

Chrisite, I'm wishing you an early Happy Birthday as I'm not sure when your leaving. I'll be leaving Sunday Morning for NY, sounds like you have some great trips plan. We'll have to compare notes when we get back, between the two of us we're bound to see someone! Enjoy and safe travels.
CWG, thanks for your birthday wishes. I leave for Paris early tomorrow morning and am only back in the UK for two days before I leave for NY. Anyone would think I had no kids or a job! LOL
I hope you have wonderful and safe trip to NYC too. I look forward to hearing all about it. It would be great if we end up going to the same places. Please go to The Spotted Pig..apparently you can buy t-shirts, and I'm very tempted!
Let's keep our collective fingers crossed for any sightings of Jake and/or Heath.
I don't doubt Jake is getting more well known...And universally acclaimed for his hotness. With his really new fans, I think they discover Hot!Jake and then they want to see his movies, and then they are totally hooked for life! LOL! I agree about Clifton Collins, Jr. sass. He is a really extraordinary character actor. The first time I saw him, in TRAFFIC, he was amazing. He played "Frankie Flowers" the hit man.
rosiet, you remember them from here and here, which were, coincidentally enough, an event in support of the ACLU. And confirmation that this shirt is at least 3 years old. :D The shoes might be even older, and the jeans go back at least 2 years, I think. Haven't had time to confirm the dates. LOL! Anyway, he took my breath away in these latest pics. I don't think he looks that irritated; probably a little flash-blind and wishing they'd back off, though.
It was established (er, by me!) on here a while ago that he's actually going through the process of having himself cloned in a bid to bring about world peace. The idea is everyone in the world gets their very own Jake to play "Dress Up Jake" with
Uh, TL, if I got my hands on an actual Jake clone, putting clothes on him would be my last priority.
Loved the bit about the random customer turning out to be a fan. I bonded with one of the nice gentlemen from our marketing department at this meeting yesterday when he turned to me and said, "So, the last time I was over at your office, I noticed a picture on your desk of Jake Gyllenhaal...." ;) He sure does bring people together.
Hi WDW and everyone:)
OMG bobbyanna,
that was him...OMG...he was fantastic in that role too. Traffic is one of my favorite movies. Now I'll have to watch it again.
Christie--Happy Birthday--and CWG, I hope you enjoy your stay here. It's so warm here right now. Last night @ 7:PM it was 58 degrees.
The temp is supposed to drop next week, and by Thanksgiving day it will be colder,
Hell, the leaves haven't fallen from the trees and it's mid- November.
We've never seen it this warm. In 2004, by mid-November, we'd had several days of light snow and sleet.
I wish I could sight see with you, but I'm not well enough this time...maybe another time. I'm still too much at the docs every other day and starting various therapies.. arrrrgh:)
I hope you have a grand time here.
Heath may be in town and Jake, well who knows, he's everywhere these days. It is the holidays and his sister and her family do live in Brooklyn, so who knows.
I was able to hang out, with some wonderful people from DCF, in September at the Spotted Pig...a Jake visited restaurant. I think you'll enjoy its rustic atmosphere, marvelous food, plus you can walk around and shop in the West Village.
The Spotted Pig
Thanks Sass, for your kind words and good wishes. Yes, I am definitely going to visit The Spotted Pig, really like the look of the place. CWG, how about we both visit there on our respective trips and have our pics taken? Tell me where exactly you were sat and I will try and have my pic taken in that vicinity!
I'm having lots of fun, sharing a trip to NYC in cyber space with a fellow gyllenhaalic (and a Heath Ledger fan too, yay!).
SASS, didn't know you live there, wish we could meet up but understand if you can't. I do plan on going to the Spotted Pig and hanging around that area. It has been warm in NY hasn't it? I hate to admit it but I'm liking this global warming thing. I might be shot if I say that too loud, it's not PC these days.
Christie, I will take a picture too and I also plan on hanging around Bar Pitti and a few other places we mentioned. I was thinking of buying a T-shirt at SP myself. That's our proof we were there. Someday we will all get together to hang out in NYC, maybe when Jake finally agrees to do Broadway. BTW I've been reading the strike is still going on and it's causing retail problems in the city for this time of year.
I'm getting excited about my trip talking with you all here :)
Christie, bring warm clothes, jeans will do and you can never go wrong with black. I will let you know ASAP if I find those calenders and where to go for them.
I'm so happy some of you are going to NYC!!!! It's a glorious place. I think with the West Village, and the restaurant thing, the best times to go to the "hot" places is during the week at off times. Both my daughters in the area, and they tell me that the B&T crowd,(bridge and tunnel) and the "touristas" sort of take over on weekends, especially during the holidays, and the locals tend to "fade." Try to get over to Brooklyn if you can.
Oh. And I have a personal reccommendation. If you have a chance, go to SoHo and visit Jaques Torres' chocolate place. Have a chocolate croissant and a cup of his "Wicked Hot Chocolate" and think of me! Also, stop in at The Strand and Rizzoli's. And go to the coffe shop on Union Square. Delicious food, open all night, and you just never know...
Sorry for the typos! It's Jacques Torres. His original place (tiny) is still in DUMBO (Brooklyn.)Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. LOL!!!Meryl Streep has been known to stop in to the SoHo place. Also, for amazing bargians on purses, go to China Town. You can haggle and it's fun, too.Totally mobbed on weekends.
Cherita...Thank you! Yep, those are the pics...he looked gorgeous in them!
CWG and Christie, you have a great time in NY and The Spotted Pig...wish I were going with you...
but maybe I'll get to see your pics.
Enjoy your Big Day Christie..
Rosie
Must dig out my dvd of Traffic this weekend and rewatch to check out the latest addition to the Brothers cast list.
Have a fab time in NYC, been three times myself and it's completely great, love every second I spend there - hopefully going back next year again.
Thanks to all for the great wishes. I've got a list a mile long now, plan to do as much as I can, I might have to eat two breakfast, lunch, and dinners, to get everything in, but it's worth it. I'll be thinking of WDW's blog site and all of you, don't know if I'll have internet access but if I do I'll send updates.
I can't believe I've made it home - 3 hours tonight :(((( But the good news is no commute tomorrow....
All this travel talk - wonderful - I can't wait to hear about it and maybe see a pic or two? I'm so glad to catch you Christie before you leave for Paris - Have a great trip and a fabulous birthday *)
Great to see you all here - I'm off to knock back - sorry, savour - a glass of fine wine and I'll be back. I need to recover from my epic journey :D
Hey Cherita! Thanks for digging out those old pics of Jake in his checked shirt*drool* I love that Jake hangs on to clothes that he likes and wears them a lot, when he could afford to just wear stuff once and then chuck it away. I like that he doesn't treat every trip to the cornershop to buy a pint of milk like a fashion show but just wears what he's comfortable with. Of course the fact he'd look good in a potato sack probably helps;)
I hope I'm not too late to say "Have a great time!!" to Christie:) Have a wondeful time, and make sure you keep your eyes open and your camera ready, just in case;)
Hi TL - Jake in a sarong or a potato sack is fine by e :D I like how he doesn't dress up either to buy a pint of milk.
Hey there Christie and CWG,
I use this site a lot.
Yelp.com
It's funny and informative and best of all most of the NY reviewers are native New Yorkers... most of the time:)
