Jake - 'It's amazing to me the things that people say about movies I've been in'

When Jake Gyllenhaal popped over to London, ostensibly to do the Jonathan Ross show, he was one busy gorgeous movie star. In addition to a full load of video and newspaper interviews, Jake also did the UK radio shows. We've already heard a couple - most notably the sweet and funny interview Jake did with Heart Radio - but here's another one. This interview was recorded with Jodie Ross for London's Capital Radio. Although too brief, there are some great moments here, and these are my favourites.

By the way, to illustrate this post I am using the new/old pictures that I Heart Jake have wonderfully and thankfully just posted for us all, knowing as they do, how we are all missing Jake at the moment. These pictures were taken in June 2006 - in NYC with Maggie and then in LA.

When Jodie asks Jake if he already knew about the practice of extraordinary rendition, Jake shows how well informed and aware he is - up to date with the news. In addition to listening to the radio, 'I read the newspaper pretty avidly, not just the cover but three pages in.' He is also an active member of the American Civil Liberties Union. Jake says 'It's always important to have a good time on set, to joke around and enjoy yourself in any job you do', but that the subject matter of his own scenes in Rendition, unsurprisingly, didn't let itself to jokes. Instead, the effort went into looking after Omar Metwally, and providing a cathartic release for them all. They would let him 'out of the chains', sit him down, feed him, give him drink. All the time aware that this torture really was going on in the world whilst also trying to stay apart from it.

Jake is asked how he deals with the rumours surrounding himself and Reese Witherspoon (this interview, of course, predates the Rome Film Festival) and Jake remarks how strange he finds it that actors are automatically linked together. 'It's amazing to me the things that people say about movies I've been in, parts I've played, things that are going on in my life that are either similar to the parts I've played or are not at all. But I think everyone always has to laugh these things off.'

On a lighter note, Jodie reminds Jake that he has been listed in Elle's Top 10 sexiest men and has been named as America's hottest bachelor by Interview. After protesting, but then hearing the names of the publications, Jake jokes 'That's legitimate, I guess... OK, I'll take that!' Jodie asks Jake why he is the hottest bachelor in America: 'I just have so many wonderful qualities... I'm just a great, great sexy bachelor.' But when asked how he feels about the Oscar buzz surrounding Rendition, Jake replies 'sceptical'. He laughs but I don't think he's joking.

19 December - let's celebrate

As we all know, 19 December is Jake's birthday - always a special day, and so, to mark it, I'd like to celebrate Jake and his Gyllenhaalics by commemorating some of our own favourite, maybe personal, Jake moments of the year. This has been an incredible year, with two outstanding films released, a new relationship revealed, a new film begun. Then there are the Film Festivals and the red carpets trodden, the TV interviews and those funny moments of pure Jakeness - Jake swimming the Atlantic, fending off Gooberballs lady (I still maintain that was not me, despite rumours to the contrary), his friend desperate to catch the ball at the Red Sox game, the baby poo, the cooking, the modern dance movements - and so much more! There are funny quips or serious moments of reflection.

I could go on and on but I would love to hear which moment pulled a string in your own heart or tugged on your funny bone. I'd also like you to pick your favourite picture - this doesn't have to be from 2007, it can be from any year. It could be from a film or it could be Jake out and about, in the street or in front of the cameras. You could have taken it yourself perhaps. Through your favourite memories of Jake for the year, we can celebrate his birthday while looking back on an amazing year. I would love to hear from you so please email me at wetdarkandwild@googlemail.com (the link is at the side); whatever your language, wherever you're from, let's show Jake what a time he's given us in 2007.

The picture above is dedicated to Positively Pia and her new arrival. Pictures from IHJ.

I've been wanting to say Happy Hanukkah to everyone and Jake. Starts sunset Decenber 4th until sunset December 12th, also called Festival of Lights.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Good one. CWG Happy Hanukkhah :D I was just talking about that at lunchtime today. I can't believe it's been a year.

Anonymous said...

Indeed you were, WDW :) I believe I was there :) Didn't know it went on for all those days, though ...

I'm thinking about my 2007 moments ahead of J-day. I hope I'll be allowed a butterscotch liqueur moment :D

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Anouska - I know a whole 8 days - that's a proper festival all right. Ugh, butterscotch ;)

Yes, give us your moments everyone!

Christie said...

Happy Hanukkah CWG, and everyone.

WDW, what a great idea to celebrate Jake's birthday. I don't know if I can whittle it down to one, I may have to have best of 3, or 23!!!

That bag that Jake is carrying is rather big, me thinks. I like the fact he carries his own bags though :D

chillinwitgyllen said...

Blimey good for nothin' white stuff!! Pia, I need me one of those Honda things just to get around here. That's it, I need the red stuff right now.

Christie, do you believe that Heath, L. Lohan rumor, I most certainly do not.

WDW, nice post and I love the Bear hug, Pia your not alone.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Christie - I lov seeing Jake carrying heavy bags :D Looking forward to hearing your choice(s) of moment!

There's a Heath/L Lohan rumour?? Noooooo!!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey CWG! Unable to say hi before in the shock of hearing the L Lohan comment :D

Ruby said...

Happy Hanukkah to everyone celebrating.

I'm still waiting for Pia to arrive with those hot toddies she promised in the last post....

Hmmm, favourite Jake moments..how many am I allowed? ;) And there is no way I could pick just one picture, but I'll happily spend some time browsing and whittle it down to, oh, 20 or so! :D

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Rubes - Hot toddy? Where do I get one?... Come on, Pia!

I'm looking forward to seeing your fave pic and hearing your great mo.... hmmmm, will it be the one I think it is?

Anonymous said...

Lovely interview with Jodie, relaxwed Jake.

thanks CWG for reminder that this is eve of Hanukkhah - I love the story - and omy but New England sure feels dark this time of year.

Here is a lovely poem by a New Mexico Jewish poet named Miriam Sagan called "Hannuka Haiku"

Our neighbors
Line their walls with faralitos
We light our candles

Faralitos are the small candles placed in sand in papeer bags that appear all over this time of year. . .

From the sublime to the hot - WDW thank you for reminding me Jake also has a bear fetish! and for honoring the arrival of Hot Teddy!

Christie said...

CWG, I heard the Heath/LLohan rumour today, and I am wishing it not to be true, so badly. It's just so sleazy. I still love Heath though. I mean, the man just wears the scruffiest shoes, what's there not to love?

This year has been a very Jake-packed year, I am feeling dizzy from the idea of trying to find a favourite moment. But it will be fun being dizzy.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Positively Pia! We've been waiting for you and we're ready for that Hot Teddy/Toddy. Old England feels pretty dark too :\

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Christie - I think it's best just to give in to it and be dizzy :D I love Heath and I can't believe that's true :[

Anonymous said...

well I guess you can make a hot toddy with gin, which is what I have in the house, at the moment, but its better with whiskey. Butterscotch? Butterscotch, in all due respect, is for pussies, Anouaka! :) :) :)

Second delivery today from the famous Bear Factory - a darling guitar, in a redlined case, a sexy white t-, sunglasses, Santa Hat (rather splendid, didnt have the nerve to order two haha) amd for Bogart the Bunny, who didnte like New Mexico ("this is no place for rabbits, sweetheart. . . ")an adorable ski sweater with caps and mittens! I am going to wrap all of these for bear/rabbit christmas presents!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Pia! Anouska had a butterscotch drink at lunch. I swear I nearly fainted. I can't cope with peanut butter or butterscotch :)

I love that you got Hot Toddy some pressies :D No harmonica?

twistedlogic said...

Thank you for the Capital interview, WDW. Is there a deadline for this favourite Jake moment thing? Not that there's much point me emailing you or even thinking about it, just put me down for anything involving Jake without the beard and showing off his chest hair.

Anonymous said...

WDW, I've seen wee harmonicas! but where? MUST find one! waiting to see what Hot Teddy wants to be called - JB? Rodeo? Lil darlin'?

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Twisted Logic! You've got until just before Jake's birthday. You gotta give me specifics! I have to have a TL Moment - Jake's waiting to know :)

Glad you liked the interview - sounds sexy, doesn't he?

Anonymous said...

Just fess up, WDW.
We all know it was you behind the entire 'gooberballs' escapade. :)

My favorite picture in this post is either the first one (to me, that is the perfect scruffy-level of them all)--or the last. Oh man, I have never wished I was a bear before, but there's a first time for everything!

twistedlogic said...

You know me, WDW! if I get into specifics we'll be here til Jake's next birthday. Well, don't say I didn't warn you...

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Fourplay - You're not the first person to say that - especially after last Saturday :P I like that first picture too but yes I'd be a bear if it meant I'd get a hug like that.

TL Do your worst! :D

In a few day's Jake'll be 27. Time flies!

Allegedly Heath and L. Lohan just slept together a couple times, nothing serious. Don't worry guys!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Anon! 'Just' you say, 'just'!! I'll be all right when I've sat in a darkened room for a few hours. I'll focus on the 'allegedly' :D Love to see the years suit Jake :)

chillinwitgyllen said...

Pia, where's my hot toddy? If anyone needs one it's me over here in the arctic tundra below freezing temperatures!

I'm affraid it's true my dear friends.

WDW, so that was you, the gooberballs lady? Oh my :D

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Ooh keep warm CWG think of all that wintry skiing though - much better than the dull dreaky drizzle we've got going on here. I would like to assure Jake that I would never demand that he make me a martini, unless he volunteered.

G'night all *)

chillinwitgyllen said...

Oh no you don't WDW, good night nothin', we're not done with this gooberballs discussion yet, get back over here.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

:D Oh yeah? We need to get Jake back over here for some proper Brit hospitality :) And get him behind that bar making the drinks and handing out the snacks :D I have to get off, I have to get up in 5 and a half hours :(

G'nite WDW, I'll let it slide this time, we don't want our WDW getting sick again, sleep tight :D

Just thinking about my favorite "Jake" moment got me all "verklempt!" bcz I couldn't separate it from all of you, especially WDW, herself. I remember late in '06 and early '07 when there was the speculation about BAFTA!Jake. In my very bones I felt he would go. And I supported and encouraged those of you who were considering it, to "Just Do It!" Go to BAFTA! Of course several of you had already made the decision and needed very little encouragement!LOL!!! I felt like I was there, monitoring your progress and anxiously waiting for reports and was totally, thoroughly excited for everyone.
My own situation was particularly bleak at the time, so I was grateful the enjoyment I had vicariously through all of you. You kept me sane, actually. When I heard Zodiac would open Cannes, I was excited and happy for Jake! And WDW being able to go to Cannes and meet friends! I never in a million years thought, even in May, that I would be able to go to TIFF again. And then it happened. And I met WDW and I think the very first thing I said was ,"Oh, good. You're a short person, too!!!" (Not as short as me, but close!)LOL!!! Of course I met several other wonderful Jake fans I'd only known and admired thru the internet and it was just the most splendid, lovely experience. We had a great time at TIFF. And I met Jake. Yes. Saw him, spoke to him, and he answered me. Touched him, too. It took all of two and one half milliseconds. And he is just a sweetheart. Beautiful. I met Kelley Sane, And Gavin Hood, too. And saw Reese up close and boy, is she ever a beauty! And very sweet. Very warm. Watching the two of them go up on that stage together, avoiding eye contact, so OBVIOUSLY, hands in pockets, LOLOL!!!! And Chris! O.M.G. That's all I will say about Chris. His pictures do him no justice. And all of it was just the most fun, memorable time I've ever had...even if oldest daughter thinks I've gone round the bend...in a way. So I am thinking of my favorite moment, but I just want you to know, whatever it, or they are, it will be framed by the total experience of sharing it with you. (sniff!) Trust me. You haven't lived 'til you've done a red carpet with WDW!!!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Bobbyanna What can I say? :D Just getting off here and caught your post. Believe me, TIFF wouldn't have been what it was for me if it hadn't been for your enthusiasm for the movie industry, your love for Jake, your beautiful daughter and your capacity for a gin and tonic.

I'm truly stuck for my moment of the year - I'm blessed with how many there have been. Baftas, Cannes, TIFF and Rome - all the way, experiences shared with friends I can't do without, as well as Jake himself. So I have to do a lot more thinking. I'm going to have good dreams tonight *)D

Wait, did I miss something or am I living in a cave like usual?

What is this Heath and Lindsay thing, for lack of a better term? :[ The fact that their names are in a sentence together brings a frowny-face to the forefront of my mind. Someone, please enlighten me. Dear god, I hope it's just a stupid tabloid rumor. I don't think my heart could take it if something like that actually happened.

BTW, this is fourplay--just changed the name to something that just came to me this afternoon. It was either that or U-Haal. Yum. Shirtless jake lifting heavy things. I would pay good money for that.

Hi WDW and everyone,
A little late here, but Happy Hanukkah to all.

Bobbyanna, I'm tearing up as I read about your wonderful sweet time with Kate at TIFF.

I have had a wonderful Jake year... how to choose...what fun trying to choose my favorite moment. May I say Cannes, with pictures...the maturation of a great acting talent and a wonderful caring human being coalesced there and we all basked in his glow.:)
I wish we had more interview segments with Jake when he is on those talk show junkets instead of just a few minutes of entertainment. He has some valuable insights to contribute when he's formally interviewed...fingers xxx for more in depth talks with Brothers.

Kate, I can't believe you've gifted us with so many interviews.
Thank you so much. I could listen to Jake's voice all day long and still have not have my fill of listening to him...never enough. It doesn't hurt that he's bright, articulate and modest.

Heath and who??? NOT!:)
xoxoxo

Oh, blogger's gone crazy... It didn't show me the posts from overnight. Now I can see them! So thanks Sass (I saw those earlier - the kites were in a post here a couple of days ago) and Haalin ass! (FourPlay that was *) )

It's not fair, the only celebs I've ever spotted in a gym was one of Girls Aloud when I was on my way to value a flat - very unthrilling, now Jake in a tight t shirt, I'd have signed up and joined the gym then and there.

Maggie looks so much like her father, they've got the same shaped face and smile.

Heath, step away from the Lohan, honestly, I really hope that isn't true.

Right, off to ponder my own 'Jake moment' and phone the OH to tell him about this kite I want for Christmas ;-)

Morning WDW and everyone,

I had to come back over and listen to Jake's interview one more time...

I'm so sorry for repeat Kite post...that's what I get for Jake-gazing @ Jake at 2:AM;)

Have a great day.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Agent K and Sass! Hope you're having a good day :D Great weather for kites here.

twistedlogic said...

Just been watching Jake cooking up a storm on Ellen:D I've got that song in my head now "Hey goodlookin'/what ya got cookin'/How bout cookin' something up with me?" Not that it's "cooking" exactly that I've got in mind, more like strawberry Haagen Dazs, but hey, it's still food;D

Thanks for the link to the kite auction Sass:) I thought Jake had actually designed an actual kite though, not just signed his name on one of the ribbon bits. And what do I have to do to see what he wrote? All I can see is "fly".
Btw, I picked up a copy of The Kite Runner for just 30p the other day, from the "withdrawn from stock" shelf in the library:) They usually have a load of crap on there, but I always check it out just in case, and on this occasion it paid off:D

Oh, can we drop the Heath gossip please? We don't gossip about Jake on here, or slag off whoever he's alleged to be dating, so can we not do the same with Heath?

Anonymous said...

Thanks TL: Im with you on this one.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi TL and Pia - You're quite right and yes, I totally agree, no more gossip here about anyone, including Heath. So hopefully everyone is clear about that.

I recorded Ellen so I've that to look forward to when I eventually get home :D

Christie said...

Damn! I missed most of Jake on Ellen - rushed in with all my shopping bags and only got the end when Jake says "and here's the meal I cooked for you". But it was so worth it for a nice little gyllengiggle. And I had forgotten that Ellen actually feeds Jake. I hate her ;)

I enjoyed reading the Jake-in-Santa Fe sighting, I'm glad we didn't get a pic actually, too intrusive IMO. The description of what he was doing and what he looked like was enough for me.

CWG, hope the snow is not too bad for you, but I'm hearing from Canadian friends that its closing schools and causing havoc.

TwistedLogic, let us know what you think of The Kite Runner...I bought mine from a car boot sale and it was an excellent bargain, despite blubbing like a baby through most of it. I bought it today for 2 friends for Christmas. I'm considering including tissues.

bobbyanna, loved reading about your thoughts on all the Jake goodness this year and the TIFF you experienced. Would love to experience a film festival, just once.

chillinwitgyllen said...

That was my fault TL, I'm sorry, I'll put myself in time out as soon as I'm done writing here.

WDW, I was trying to reflect my most memorable Jake thing this year and you know I really have to say all of it has been amazing. I became Jake struck this year in June and spent many hours watching him from then on, I went to TIFF in Aug or Sept (can't remember)and even though I wasn't with you great people I had an awesome time. My first time in Toronto, such a beautiful place which I most definitely will visit again. Shortly after that I became apart of this blog site which has been so much fun meeting Jake fans like myself but also realizing that we have a lot more in common as a whole. Some memorable moments here for sure especially the hectic week of Jake on TV (I was exhausted trying to catch every show). Thank you WDW for giving me an opportunity to meet all you fine people who I hope to walk the red carpet with some day.

8 a.m. in Santa Fe, clear and sunny, temp 43 degree F., but gonna warm up to high fifties today. Clouding up in afternoon.
I wonder what time Jim S wakes up his players.

I agree sorta that description of Jake in gym is almost as good as a picture, esp. wishing him privacy, secret stalker though I am.

I love hearing Jake love - Bobbyanna, your delight fizzes like champagne. thanks to others, too this was a great idea, WDW.

"Where is Donnie?"

Iggy said...

Oooh thank you for the interviews WDW..and I've just enjoyed Jake on ellen...Why is he so gorgeous? Why am I so jealous of ellen?

bobbyanna I loved your post! And TL, you've got ME singing that damn song now! And no, cooking wouldn't be top of my agenda for things to do with Jake either. hehe

Christie said...

Hi Rosie!! You got to see the whole Ellen show, like TL, but I just got the bits at the end. But they were very nice bits.

When I was out shopping today I saw someone wearing a top that said "delmar goods co." I just smiled. :D

CWG, you came to Jake late, like me, it seems. I always liked him but Heath's Ennis just took my breath away. Now I enjoy the wonder that is Jake and its great fun, I've loved discovering all about him. Well, maybe not all ;)

I didn't realise you went to TIFF, what a shame you didn't get to meet WDW and co. I think that's one of my favourite Jake moments of 07, Jake at TIFF, because some of my BBM buds got to see him and meet him and got him to sign a piece of BBM memorabilia. That was a very special moment, and whilst I was a few thousand miles away, felt I was there with them.

Christie said...

I am assuming that anonymous at 15.55 is Pia? I'd recognise those Santa Fe weather reports anywhere.

Anonymous said...

Yes Christie, c'est moi. Finger musta slipped. My heart's in the high desert, thanks for recognizing me!

chillinwitgyllen said...

Christie, we are the newcomers here I think. TIFF was amazing and I can't imagine what it would have been like being with everyone there too. I'm also discovering new things about Jake all the time, I love that he can still surprise me. Haven't seem some of his movies yet, looking forward to that.

Hey, I would have paid $100 for that hat, how funny 'can I buy that hat from you?'.

It won't stop snowing here, someone please turn off the snow maker!

Anonymous said...

"Hey, I would have paid $100 for that hat, how funny 'can I buy that hat from you?'"

Thanks for making feel less wierd for spending all my money on clothes for my J bear. :) :)

Have you seen Donnie Darko, CWG?

chillinwitgyllen said...

No problem Pia, anytime. Don't worry if I knew Ennis and Jack's cowboy shirts were auctioned off on Ebay I would have been one of the top bidders I can tell you. I've paid my share of bucks for stuff like that.

I think Donnie Darko was the movie that caught my Jake attention. But I haven't seen Lovingly, Amazingly (sp?) or Bubble Boy or some of the even older stuff. Loved him in Moonlight Mile. Also saw October Sky.

chillinwitgyllen said...

WDW, sorry for keeping you up late last night, it was the red stuff.

twistedlogic said...

Christie, you should have asked that person where they got the Delmar Goods top from - I want one!!!!

CWG - (now you're off the naughty step;)) what Jake movies have you yet to see? I'm guessing you've seen BBM but after that I would recommend The Good Girl and Jarhead as I love them both, even though TGG messes with my head so I can't watch it very often:( But, and I'm being totally honest here, even though I'm biased, time watching ANY Jake film is time well spent. Even my least favourite ones, like Proof or TDAT, still have their plus sides;)
Oh, and send us some snow over here, please! I love snow and it would make a welcome change from the miserable rain:)

Christie said...

Oh I love talking about Jake's films, I could do this all day!!

CWG, yes we are the newcomers to Jake, I think, but that's ok. My first film post-BBM of Jake's was DD, and I was blown away. Still am, whenever I watch it (bought it today actually for my sister for Christmas!).

I have watched most now, apart from Bubble Boy and October Sky (both of which I own, just not had time to watch). I think DD is my fave, after BBM. Then TGG, Jarhead and MM. All are good though, it's hard to choose.

Anonymous said...

Twisted, I do hope that TDAT reference was a lead-in for me to sigh over *JD* :):)* I know you share my little fondness.

I've never managed to watch Proof all the way through; not a fan of Gwynnie, though I love her mum.

chillinwitgyllen said...

TL, whew, thanks for letting off the hot seat :)

I've seen DD, MM, JH, TGG, BBM Proof, TDAT. I feel more comfortable now that you disliked Proof, the only purpose for that movie is for Jake watching. I always wondered why he did it? Maybe big hitter names or shooting convenience. The script was intellectual but not interesting. I thing TGG was the very first movie I saw Jake in. I was floored with his performance and now that I'm a Jake fan every time I watch it I feel like I'm home again. I love Jarhead and I think this was his first 'manly' movie. Moved him from 'high school sweetheart' to 'rock em' sock em' hotness'
BBM is still probably one of my favs because it has Heath too.

Christie I could talk all day too, forget everything we have to do :) You're so lucky you have those films, go watch them girl what are ya waiting for? I can't find them, guess I'll have to Netflix them someday when I've overdosed on all the others (which won't be for awhile :)

Christie said...

I don't care for Proof much either, and I thought it was interesting what you said about it CWG. It was intellectual, and the dialogue sometimes strange and unconvincing. You could tell quite clearly that it had been a play originally. I don't like Gwyneth much either. Jake did look hot in it, particularly in the drunk and morning after scenes.

I know I should watch BB and OS, but I have to confess they are not screaming out at me to be watched pronto, not like, say, MM or GG was. Am I bad? :( But I will watch them, no worries there.

Did you all hear that Jake is under auction again for ACLU?

Anonymous said...

WDW, I *heart* The Fancy Catfish blog.

twistedlogic said...

Anouska, what I actually meant about TDAT was the special effects -and Wet!Jake! JD is all yours;) I'm not fond of him in that way, it's a bit like bungee jumping or watching cricket - not something that appeals to me,but I can see why it does to some people;)

CWG, I don't really know why I don't like Proof but it just leaves me cold. I don't really like or dislike Gwyneth, but I have to admit when her character pulls away from Jake kissing her and then starts crying afterwards, I'm like "FFS woman, you just shagged Jake Gyllenhaal, what is your problem?!" But it's not that bad really, Jake is gorgeous in it and there are a few funny moments, though not enough to get anywhere near top of my list. But nothing comes close to BBM,and I doubt it ever will.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi everyone :D Oh, what a great chat - and I've been stuck driving :( I'm loving the film memories - and whaddya know Anouska's involves JD! *) I do like that bit where my beloved Wet Sam rescues him from the wolves.

I recognised you too, Pia! CWG welcome back off the naughty seat. No worries for keeping me up last night, it was fun.

Christie please, please watch October Sky. I was late to that one and it's absolutely wonderful. I did a couple of posts on it not that long ago.

TL - I make no bones about it - never have and probably never will like Proof :D

Back soon - gotta job to do...;)

chillinwitgyllen said...

TL, this is what we said the other nite about Jake getting overlooked for Twist. Not so many script out there like BBM, that was his chance to win. Will be awhile to see another script like that come along.

I know how you feel Christie, you sort of have to be ready to see these films, it's a process but once you get there, there's no turning back.

Anouska! I notice Ray deleted his comment that Jake was scripted to say something unflattering about him, in his underwear.

Hate Gwyneth, love Catfish Ray.

paulh said...

I sent in my email of two moments that were special for me this year. I don't know if I should also list them here, but they're closer to the topic than peanut butter and butterscotch (which are fabulous together!).

The prime moment was the one where Jake, introducing "Saturday Night Live," quickly peeled off his suit and tie, revealing a sequined gown. He popped on a wig, and sang, in falsetto, a song from "Dreamgirls". I laughed so hard it hurt!

The other moment was when he was at Cannes. He put his hand to his ear, and then pointed at some fans who were chanting "Jake! Jake! Jake!"

One of Jake's co-stars in TDAT was Dennis Quaid, whose newborn twins almost died recently when a nurse gave them the wrong dose of Heparin, a blood thinner. Last I heard, they were home, and seemed to be fine, but Quaid and his wife are suing the drugmaker for packaging the baby dose and adult dose in such similar vials that nurses can mistake one for the other. Quaid thanked the public for praying for his babies. He doesn't want this mistake to happen to any more babies.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Pia - he deleted it? Shame. I do like that site :)

Hi Paul - thanks very much for sending in your moments. I have to agree with them both, especially the latter as, of course, I was one of those Jake was pointing at :D I'll be delighted to feature them :)

Anonymous said...

WDW I SO wondered WHY he deleted this remark.

Hey Paul, a coupla my favorite moments, too!

Anonymous said...

TL, did you know bungee jumping makes your eyes pop out? Urban myth possibly, but as an excuse it works for me. It was Nadine I should have been tussling with for JD, really :)*

Hey Pia *

hi paulh - the lucky pointees were WDW, Ing and mouk ;)

I'm so pleased the Quaid babies are OK.

TL, I agree with you about BBM. Nothing will ever come close to topping that for me. Holds a very very special place in my heart. Jake deserved the BAFTA 100%, and I was beyond happy for him. Just wish Heath had won too :( Don't get me started on the oscars though...

WDW, I will certainly watch October Sky, I have heard only good things about it. I still haven't watched all of Heath's films either, so it evens itself out!
