Jake Gyllenhaal's Mexican holiday - And now back at LAX [updated]

I'm sure I'm not the only one who's been missing Jake and wondering how he was getting on with his painful ankle. But I don't think he's been missing us because Jake was seen on 29 March at Cabo San Lucas airport, along with Reese and her two children, on their way back from their holidays in the sunny, sandy, southern tip of the Baja California peninsula of Mexico - Just look at this place!

But an even more delicious sight than the white sandy beaches, blue seas and dramatic rock formations of this paradise for sun-worshippers and watersports enthusiasts alike is the sight of Jake Gyllenhaal in a t-shirt and jeans. After a winter of flannel shirts, it is so good to see Jake in his summer combo, with the Nike back where they belong. However, it's not so good to see that Jake is still in need of two crutches - juggling one's way through airport security is never easy even without unwieldy crutches. But we can see Jake getting some help and the big box of Game Ready suggests that Jake is taking his recovery very seriously. It's probably just as well that Jake has a desk job in Nailed.

Update - Back at LAX 29 March

And now, thanks to the wonders of IHJ, here they all are back at LAX, maybe feeling in need of another holiday already (but at least they weren't at Heathrow's Terminal 5). It must have been frustrating for Jake to be hobbling around on his crutches when everyone else also had their hands full, so at one point he seems to have given up, hopefully not for long.

I'd like to point out that these don't look like ideal driving conditions to me... even for LA.

Peter in London

Peter Sarsgaard has been spotted in London again! Or at least the filming of An Education has been. Last week, the production was seen by an IMDb poster at Walthamstow Dog Stadium. The hunt continues...

Thanks to IHJ for all the new pics!

Yep, I've seen the pictures too. I think his injury is very serious, cause it's been a long time and he is still on cruthes. And I just loved how Ava was dragging around a gazillion toys with her:)

Hi Zodiac :) It looks a bit more than a sprain to me too. Not good.

worry worry worry. Jake can't do beach on crutches and the beaches at Cabo I hear are gorgeous. o my. sorry sorry sorry.

O, good morning, guys. a sunny Sunday. You gotta really have a committment to Richard Kelly to watch Southland Tales.

Walthamstow dog track? I used to live in that area of London, it's where Mr R hails from! I've spent a few nights at the dogs. :D

That looks like a beautiful place, but not good to see Jake still using the crutches.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Morning Pia :D Those beaches look just like where we should be right now - just beautiful :D I hadn't thought but I suppose it can't be easy on a sandy beach with crutches. And all those sporty things to do there too :( But what a place to put your feet up while supping on a pina colada. I think I may have to buy more pineapple this afternoon.

I reckon I'll have to take a week off for Southland Tales :\

Sunny here too :D

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey Ruby - we were posting at the same time :D

Yep the dogs at Walthamstow - a glamorous filmset indeed ;)

I know, not good to see that Jake still has a way to go before he's better.

Have a lovely Sunday - I have that Sunday afternoon shouldn't I be in a supermarket feeling...

twistedlogic said...

This injury must be pretty serious if he's still on crutches, poor Jakey:( And I agree with Pia and WDW, it must be incredibly difficult to get around a beach on crutches, not to mention frustrating for someone like Jake to be in such a gorgeous place and not be able to swim, surf, etc...Oh well, hopefully he still managed to enjoy himself. Now get home and give that ankle a chance to recover, Jake!!

Monica said...

So good morning to start seeing the Jake!

Hat of Deacon is very funny!

paulh said...

The last time my ankle was sprained, I was still able to swim.
(Right now, my knee is giving me some trouble. I don't know how it got hurt....)

Actually, there were some funny moments back then. I was on crutches, and I was so clumsy that I was always knocking over supermarket displays (no, not the condiments aisle ;-) )

Anonymous said...

oh my... i don't understand why he has to go on holidays on crutches, he should have flown first class to london and let US take care of him! we can take him to the dog track to see Peter...

We at WDW, are a bunch of dedicated nurses... i think we need to spread this message around...

new pix arriving at LAX -

Reese's sunburn looks painful, - Jake's Game Ready protocol - oh my!
glad tdhat Deacon has the consolation of his thumb!

And a very good sunny English afternoon to all of you!

Just been to check out the Pap shots on IHJ and there are a few more up, of Jake's arrival, bringing up the rear of the entourage, back at LAX.

Not surprising he's lagging behind again as the ankle's obviously still playing him up quite badly. Still, if he'd rested it in the first place, rather than trailing round the shops in the wake of a woman intent on a retail therapy binge, then it might have been much better by now. Jake, love, will you never learn....?!! ;-)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi everyone! This post put me in the holiday mood and it's such a beautiful day so I've having pina coladas tonight! Anyone who would care to join me would be very welcome :D

Oh new pics? I'll get those, add them and be back...

KeepCalm+CarryOn said...

And with the sunshine and blue sky we've got today, who wants Mexico when we've got the Lakes or the Peak District??!!

This little Britisher is now off for a spot of fresh air in her English country garden ;-D
Toodle pip ! :D xxx

Just gorgeous - and I don't mean just Cabo! He looks delicious with that been-to-the-beach glow, and the crutches are workin' his arms. I'm green around the gills! Seriously, I hope they had a lovely holiday, it looks beautiful. Loved the previous post about the on-screen kisses too. ;)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Back again - so great to have new pics of Jake, and some without sunglasses too :D

Hi there TL! Hope you're enjoying the sun - not fancying popping over to Walthamstow then ;D

Morning Monica :D it's lovely to see the pictures.

Hi Paul - hope your knee's better soon. I'm clumsy enough without crutches but they really are a nuisance, especially in places like airports and shops - and in cars! That poor driver.

Hi Winterbird - we could have definitely have looked after Jake here and what has this Mexican beach paradise got that southern England hasn't, eh??

Hey Pia! I sympathise with Reese for that sunburn - I'm very pale myself so I know how that feels - I'm still red after LA. Jake and everyone else looks so sunkissed. Having a moment now thinking of Jake in shorts and no top...

Hi Nadine! You do make me chuckle - I'm afraid I'm with Jake on this one and would have definitely chosen the holiday sun. He's still got a couple of weeks to rest up before filming starts. And yeah, who wants Mexico beaches when you can have the Peak District? Ummm..... give me 5 nanoseconds to think on that one ;D

Enjoy the garden - it's so gorgeous out there, I didn't even need a coat :D

Hey Bertie! I'm so glad you liked the kissing post - I hope people check that out. I wanted it up as the last post for longer but whaddya know - we got Jake back instead :D

Jake looks gorgeous with those strong brown arms :P I hope they all had a wonderful time :)

*good girl* said...

Hi everybody! :)

I've just checked all the new pap pics... I agree with you about the fact he's still using crutches and this makes the injury look particularly serious :-/ or maybe he's only being very very careful in order to recover comletely in time for Nailed ...... BUT ... my oh my...he looks great, tanned, I looove him tanned, those baby blues seem brighter and deeper ...and I agree with Bertie, crutches seem to be very helpful for his arms too! :P I must confess the pics of him at LAX airport left me quiet breathless :P

Thank you WDW ;):)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Good Girl! Hopefully the injury isn't that bad and Jae is just having to be careful and keep his weight off it - and sometimes it must irritate him. But things mend in their own time. I broke a toe a couple of years ago and it took weeks to mend - it felt like it was OK to walk on and so I would and then it would get inflamed again. But the muscles Jake has in his arms :D

agent_krycek said...

Not surprising he's lagging behind again as the ankle's obviously still playing him up quite badly.

I'd hazzard a guess it's them attempting to stop the paps getting their 'money' shot, J, R & the kids all in frame.

It's flaming lovely here this afternoon, don't tell me the beaches of Mexico were hotter or any better then my patio, Jake could have sat there in one of my garden chairs and basked all afternoon while I continued waging war on the ant population *grrrr*

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi there Agent K! That could well be the case.

OMG don't set me off about ants - the blighters have my flat undersiege and they're constantly trying to evict me. Last year thousands of flying ants got in :(

Ahem, deep breaths, gulp of wine, mouthful of pain au chocoat - feeling better now!!

where was I? Oh yes, a beautiful day. Nothing quite like a warm spring day and quite a few of the trees round here now have their blossom on them :D Jake would love it! Pah - Mexico....

Iggy said...

Oooh.... the only thing that looks better than that beach is Jake in jeans and t-shirt!! Phew!!

I've only just seen yesterdays post too...all that Jake kissing? Nearly killed me it did! Jealousy doesn't even begin to cover it...

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Rosie! Good to see you :D

I like to think that in the kissing post there were quite a few tips on the best way to give Jake a smacker on the lips :)

Oh Jake looks beyond gorgeous in a t-shirt and jeans. I wouldn't mind testing the kissing techniques....

Hope you're having a lovely weekend :)

Zodiac said...

Totally OT:I've just seen Once. If it hadn't been for you WDW,I'd never have heard about this film. Thanks.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Zodiac! That's great! And I would never have seen it if it hadn't been for Jake and Heath :D I bought the soundtrack when I was in LA the other week - it's so good. Did you like the film?

Zodiac said...

I did. And being from Poland myself and living in London for two years (and coming back home eventually:)I can totally relate to the world depicted in the film.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

I can see why you'd relate to it. You've reminded me and so I'm just putting the soundtrack on my MP4 so I can listen to it tomorrow. I'll add the Rendition soundtrack while I'm about it :D

This place looks a lot like Durdle Door - must nip down there when things warm up more. Hasn't today been lovely, though?

If Jake has torn ligaments, that's bloody agony - I was on crutches for WEEKS last year - he shouldn't be hoicking himself around all the time and definitely shouldn't be hoicking himself onto planes (the pressure is not good - understatement - for whatever is going on inside your ankle as it mends).

There is water in LA, isn't there WDW?

Anonymous said...

Tall and tan and young and lovely the boy from Cabo San Lucas goes hobbling by, and when he passes I smile but he doesn't see. With apologies to Astrud Gilberto. :)

Hi there Anouska! Gorgeous day, just gorgeous. Is Walthamstow on your list for next week? :D Maybe we should have a Mexico roadtrip?

But yeah looks tough doing all this on crutches, especially when you know you have to keep your weight off your foot.

There's definitely water in LA, but Jake may not be up to a run. Hope he's got enough Rescue Remedy!

Anon, I love it!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Wave away Anouska! Maybe Ruby can join in... Watching a bit of Indiana Jones - love to see Jake in this kind of film :D

Road trip to Durdle Door, maybe, WDW :)

Where was the last Peter sighting? Westminster? Now Walthamstow ... needles and haystacks spring to mind.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Durdle Door sounds good, Anouska. had a lovely holiday round there a few years back - but the tequila's not so good...

I can detect a pattern - maybe Peter will pop up in Woolwich? Or Wimbledon?

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Or Wembley...

Ummmm ...

I'm bad at these games.

Mornington Crescent!

That doesn't fit my W scheme :D

How about Waterloo?

WDW,as the wife of a one-time wood-worker teacher, I've done a lot of driving with assorted planks, tools, boards etc wedged between me and the passenger seat,so I really do sympathise with that poor driver at LAX. Perhaps he doesn't feel he's in a position to ask for the hazard to be moved.

On the other hand if Jake's crutch was a matter of inches from my face I wouldn't be complaining either! :-D

KeepCalm+CarryOn said...

Anouska! Yay,you listen to "I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue"!! I knew we were kindred spirits!! :-)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Oh Nadine - I read your comment about Jake and his crutch out to Mr WDW and he's still chuckling! As am I :D

Seriously though, I've been on the back of a motorbike with a wheel round my neck, I've even had to sit on an armchair balanced on the back of a motorbike, but this driver looks seriously squished - but polite :D

Anonymous said...

I make a point of listening to, watching or reading anything that's going to make me laugh, naughty Nadine with the crutch :D

Ruby said...

Mornington Crescent!

Well done Anouska, you win the game with no rules! ;-)

What about Westbourne Grove, West Ryslip, Willesden or Woodford?

Back from the pub and in my other favourite spot - the sofa.

Hi there Ruby from thicky WDW :D I knew I should have memorised the tube map. Hope you had a good time at the pub :)

WDW you asked about crib notes for
S0uthland Tales - and although you may have been kidding, below is helpful for those who are interested and are not about to read Kelly's two graphic novels before seeing the film to understand it, kinda -

http://www.salon.com/ent/movies/feature/2007/12/19/southland_tales_analysis/index.html

not too difficult to get a grasp of it once you have some background. I suspect you have to be interested in sci fi, amd have a committment to sparkle motion haha.

I think of Kelly introducing Jake to his parents, who said they mostly hoped that Richard doesnt portray them unkindly in his films. :) :) that was so sweet!

Hey the red red robbins are bob bob bobbin' about, and snow is gone! hope everysweetpeep had a lovely Sumday.

hasty pia sorry

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Pia :D Thanks so much for that link and no I was serious when I was thinking about a crib sheet. I'm so glad DDarko didn't put me off initially because the first time I saw it I was flummoxed. I don't have the time to read these graphic novels first.

I didn't know about that and Richard's parents :D

Glad the snow's gone where you are. I've woken up each morning for the last few days to the most incredible birdsong. Spring really seems to be here :D

Oh yes, he did;)

I think in one of these pictures Jacob is wearing an Avon Women Empowerment Bracelet. I saw it on IHJ.Reese got a couple for free, I guess:)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Morning everyone - sob - Monday morning and not a Mexican beach in sight.

Thanks anon, I was wondering what the bracelet was.

Have a good day :D

Anonymous said...

Yes RW told Jake he had to wear it...I think she's taking this empowerment of women lark a bit to far ;-)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Anon - to be fair, we don't know that's why he's wearing it and it is a good cause :D Jake does like bracelets for a cause.

Hope everyone's having a good Monday :)

Xenia said...

Someone on IHJ commented that Jake is sex on crutches...HE IS! :)
I don't know if this injury of his is so serious, he seems to be able to do without sometimes after all, maybe it's just precautionary...

Hey WDW and everybody, good to see you all after my usual WE time-off, have a great week! :)

paulh said...

If Jake wants to empower women, he could offer to let them kiss him. ;-)

Monica said...

It has a video of the site Splash News that shows the arrival them to LA.
It is a video hard to watch, especially when you see the JAKE trying to help Reese and children.

More a film to our Jake?
http://www.news.com.au/perthnow/story/0,21598,23459399-5005380,00.html

"No cast or crew have been named as yet, but the likes of Brad Pitt, Jake Gyllenhaal and Casey Affleck are rumoured as contenders for the title role."

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Xenia - sex on crutches - oh yes :D I reckon that Jake's been warned to keep his weight off that ankle but sometimes he finds it frustrating. It is so annoying getting over that kind of injury.

Good to see you too! Have a great week :D

Hi Paul - what an excellent idea :)

Hi there Monica :D Thanks for the links. I'll steer clear of the video - thanks for the warning. The other article sounds fun :)

Soon be home time, phew. Hope everyone's having a good day :D

March 31 - snowy - a wintery mix all day - but a warm front moving in and it will be sixty degrees later in the week.

I am SO longing to daily check weather in South Carolina! Dogwood will be out? what else, I wonder? Its gonna be gorgeous, in April. Jake in a sex/political comedy? Al Gore's daughter writing? This has gotta be fun.

Have become more and more curious about actors' lives - do they 24/7 when filming? Do they sleep in hotels, together, apart, do they always fall in love and screw around, as one of my friends in the business claims? How often do they bring familiies and children with them? What are the trailers like, inside, what amenities?

Impressed that Maggie bowed out of an extended shoot to be with family.

p.s. woof woof woof WDW, hope you make it hope safely.

BirdGirl said...

Greetings,

I see Jake was off on a nice retreat. That sounds like a good idea considering he needs to stay off of that ankle.

It's always good to see him is short sleeves. Hopefully the flannel is put away since its spring.

It is really warm here but it is getting ready to storm. This is not good news because today is opening day for my St. Cardinals. It is a holiday in this area. Cross your fingers that they get the game in.

Have a good one kittens and cats.

Hi there friends made it home and had to do an emergency decant of a bottle of wine that had a crack in it - you'll be glad to hear I got all the wine out, it's gonna take some drinking though... don't want it to go off ;D

Hi there Pia! Looking forward to your SC weather broadcasts - South Carolina is a mystery to me so I'm looking forward to being transported there for the length of filming :D I'm absolutely fascinated by the nitty gritty of the filming process - this is one of the big gifts of being a fan of Jake. I appreciate his films so much more now because I've followed their filming - same will be true now of An Education for Peter and future Maggie projects. I'm much more into the filming and movie star aspects (red carpets, tv appearances, photoshoots, interviews) of Jake than I am about anything else - oh, except when he can recommend a good restaurant and can dazzle me with new Nike :D

Good to see you Bird Girl! I'm sooo with you with the flannel shirt wish. Enjoy the game! remember I'm an ignorant Brit - which sport are we talking here ;D

So glad to be back home with my feet up, a glass of red and all of you :D

Holy crap Pia that is cool. I live across the river in IL. Small world isn't it.

JoeAnn said...

Delurking here to show some love for fellow Gyllenhaalic Cardinal fans. I'm across the river too in southern Illinois. It's looking kinda soggy for opening day, but I thought I'd cheer myself up by tracking down that pic of young Jake, looking cute as a button, proudly wearing his birds on the bat uniform with the rest of his team. That pics always makes me smile. Too bad he grew up to be a Red Sox fan, lol.

BirdGirl said...

Yay, we are representing today. I have never seen that. Where can I track that down?

It is too bad about the Sox thing. I always cringe when I see him in that hat.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hey, welcome Joeann :D Thanks for delurking! I know that picture, the young one of Jake at school. I must dig it out. One of these days we'll see him in a UK football shirt/cap :)

Hi Bird Girl and Pia - I must check out these Cardinals. I kinda like Jake in his Red Sox hat ;D
