Tonight is a special night on British TV - as part of a commemorative evening for Heath Ledger, Brokeback Mountain receives its premiere on mainstream television. The rest of the evening includes viewings of The Patriot and Candy. It is very possible that some people will watch Brokeback tonight for the very first time, curious to see what all the 'fuss' has been about.
Brokeback Mountain was controversial, for sure. I was in Arizona when the film was released and when I asked at the cinema there when they were going to show Brokeback, I was told they would not be showing it at all. This attitude towards Brokeback Mountain, either ignoring it completely or making jokes about it without having actually seen it, is exemplified by this:
Despite the jokes and ribbing that the actors received for putting their hearts into Brokeback Mountain, the roles won them admiration and respect amongst their peers, or at least some of them. While George Clooney saw cowboys everywhere - as his opposition at each awards ceremony - Anne Hathaway said that Meryl Streep would never have acted against her if it hadn't have been for Brokeback Mountain. By contrast, Heath Ledger was allegedly advised against taking the role of Ennis by his Patriot co-star Mel Gibson, because it went against his morals.
It is the belief of some, including Brokeback's producer James Schamus, that Brokeback was robbed of its Academy Award because of an orchestrated campaign by some of the walking dead of Hollywood, notably by Ernest Borgnine and Tony Curtis, who said that Brokeback was an insult to John Wayne. Typically for bigotry, both refused to see the film and so had little idea what they were talking about, so influentially. One wonders what Jamie Lee Curtis thought about all this. Crash, even with its own contentious subject matter, was a safer bet for some members of the Academy. As this article asks, do academy members use their votes to make a political point and what is it about a film that creates an emotional response and can that be political?
Fortunately, not only did Jake Gyllenhaal win a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor in 2006, Brokeback was honoured with the Best Film award in London.
Mind you, some stars had a bit of an extreme reaction and went the other way, just to show how much they approved of Brokeback Mountain. There are others, Madonna for example, who called Brokeback 'shocking', to much publicity, and then gave a revised opinion, saying that she had seen a private viewing of the film and admired its actors.
Other people have talked publicly about how Brokeback spoke to them just as it has to us. Boy George, for instance: '"I have asked a lot of straight men about Brokeback Mountain and they said they couldn't relate to it." I tell him I related to it. I sobbed. "But you are a woman. You have a female sensibility, just like I do. I cried at the trailer. I was like, 'Oh my God, that is my life!' It deals with intimacy, which is far more shocking than sex."'
This preview from the Guardian, about the expectations that surrounded the release of Brokeback Mountain, is well worth a reread. The extraordinary emotional response of Brokeback's audiences over the last two and a half years has surely sent the best message of all to the filmmakers and film commentators, as well as to everyone involved in the creation of Brokeback Mountain.
Brokeback Mountain is on Channel 4 at 9pm tonight. I hope everyone who hasn't acces to UK TV will instead have access to their well-worn DVD.
Includes pictures from Advocate, Bent, Entertainment Weekly, Vanity Fair.

I have to roll my eyes at Mel Gibson's morals comment!
Hope everyone is having a great Sunday. I'm being all domesticated, having spent another Saturday with a paintbrush in hand.
Good to be reminded about Cannes and BBM (except the Oscar part), WDW. I don't think I'l watch it on TV tonight though - can't stand the ad breaks.
I am sorry but Mel Gibson is a moron....
Thanks for this post and the Cannes posts... I apologise for not joining in the fun, as I'm half bed-ridden.
Can't believe it's nearly two and half years ago since I saw this movie and its impact still so strong.
I don't know if I can watch the film tonight though, hubby will be fight to watch some DVD *sighs*
Thank you for this post. BBM will always hold that special place in my heart. It is amazing to look back and the highs and some lows (not willing AA BP - bastards!) of the BBM experience. I am so grateful for it though. I have never felt so connected to a movie, its actors and the people I met because of it.
And a huge thank you for the last post. Could Jake look any better in the spandex!! He is looking FIT and I love it! ;p
Just had to mention to Pia that I was in her old neighborhood, West Village, on Bedford St. and it is such a lovely block. They were having a street fair on Bedfort and Christopher.
Hey Rubes! Good to see you, you domesticated Ruby you. I bet your place is looking pukka :D I want to watch BBM tonight but Mr WDW may think I should stick with the DVD :D But I feel like watching it.
Yep, Mel Gibson is a moron.
Hi Winterbird - I'm sorry you're poorly :( I'm still having to take it easy myself. Oh the battle we have with hubbies over BBM... Get better very soon.
Morning Get Real :D I've never felt so connected to a movie either and through it I've become connected to so many people! Amazing. Jake is looking good enough to eat in that spandex! One of the few occasions when my eyes have been distracted from his gorgeous face.... A street fair sounds good.
Have a great Sunday everyone (I'm watching Apollo 13 :D)
Thanks for another great post, WDW. You can always get me with a Brokeback post. Sheesh! That's some bizarre reasoning by the Academy; with that logic, I guess it would also stand to reason that you couldn't have a gay Green Beret either? What rubbish. And Mel Gibson's remark too. Thank goodness Heath and Jake and everyone didn't listen and made this beautiful, meaningful film. I'm so happy I can pop it into my DVD player anytime I want. I still have to watch Zodiac, and listen to that fab soundtrack on my new system. Wheeee! :)
It deals with intimacy, which is far more shocking than sex.
Ain't that the truth. I always did admire Boy George! :)
Wow, lots going on in Jake-dom lately, his body definitely is starting to look like we will see some parquet going on in the near future! I hope we hear an announcement about his being in PoP soon!
Have a great Sunday everyone,
Thanks, WDW.
Ooops, should have spelled it Bedford.
Yeah I did the Gyllenhaal WV tour again. Such a beautiful day. Made me nostalgic that I wonder when we will see any of them on those streets again. :/
Enjoy your day, watching Apollo 13, cleaning, resting, etc. everyone!
Wonderful post,WDW:)
I've never liked Mel Gibson, even before I knew what a nasty piece of work he is I always thought there was something creepy about him. I'm more shocked at Madonna, of all people, describing BBM as "shocking"! I liked that story about SJP though, she's just gone right up in my estimation.
It's beyond me how anyone can have a bad word to say about BBM, but the fact it elicits such extreme reactions, positive or negative, just shows what an impotant and groundbreaking film it is.
I hope, like you say, that a lot of people will take the opportunity tonight to watch it for the first time (Radio Times has it as Film of the Week too) and that they'll be as moved by its heartbreaking beauty as I was.
I will definitely be tuning in at 9 pm tonight, whether I make it past the first ad break is another matter ;)
Hi Bertie! Fortunately, the people who matter to Jake and Heath gave them all the encouragement they needed, should they have needed any. But there's nothing like a film like this to show up how moronic some people are.
As for Jake's body right now, he's looking like he has the Prince of Persia written over every muscle - in perfect condition! He certainly looks like he's been in serious trining for something - I really hope it's PoP and, as you say, we hear something soon.
Do enjoy Zodiac on your new system :D
Thanks, Get Real! I love doing a Jake walking tour. What does WV stand for? Is that a part of NYC?
Hey TL :D Madonna was a surprise as she always seems to have prided herself on being shocking - umpteen of her videos spring to mind. But she did change her mind. Even so... 'shocking'? I thought the SJP story was so funny!
It really is a great thought that the BBM community could get some new members after te televising this evening :D I hope they have plenty of tissues...
Sorry, WDW. WV stands for West Village.
Ooh thanks, Get Real, I should have guessed that :) I hope when I finally get to NYC that I can go on one of your tours :D
I hope you can come take a tour too, WDW!
Olá, wet dark!
Brokeback is scheduled to appear on tv open this year in Brazil.
The problem is that the issuing vai show that the film is the same as vetoed a kiss between two men in his novel.
There is the fear that they do this with Brokeback.
I hope not.
Hey Bertie! you're right about that quote from Boy George, I was going to mention that earlier but I forgot. It is so true,I think what scares a lot of homophobes isn't so much the idea of two men having sex, but two men falling in love and having feelings for each other. To see Jack and Ennis's love grow and develop and deepen just the same as love between a man and a woman, kind of throws the idea of it being "unnatural" out of the window. A force of nature indeed...*sigh*
WDW, that's exactly what I mean about Madonna! the words pot and kettle spring to mind there. Maybe she was being ironic;) The SJP story reminds me of one time when TL Jr woke up one night and wandered into the living room while I was watching SNIT. She looked at the screen, asked "is that his boyfriend?" (not sure which of the two she was refering to) to which I replied "yes" and she just shrugged, said "oh,ok" and went back to bed. She doesn't seem to have been at all traumatised by the experience;)
Hi Get Real :D I'll definitely take you up on that :D
Ola Monica! I hope that when Brokeback shows in Brazil they do nothing to it - I'm also hoping they do nothing to it here... I'm wondering where the ad breks will go.
Hi TL :D I agree that it's definitely the intimacy and the emotional connection that makes some people nervous, certainly made Ennis nervous too. Good for TL Jr! A sensible head on those shoulders.
I've been watching Apollo 13 all afternoon and I think they're gonna make it :D
Of course they're gonna make it WDW - they have Ed Harris at Mission Control. the very guy you need in such circumstances. :)
I wonder which 18 minute segment SJP let her kid watch. Obviously it included a hug, so I'd guess the post divorce bit. ;/ although explaining Mexico could be tricky. Possibly the reunion, or at least the scenes leading up to the hug. :D
I just have to say, Ruby, that there is a teeny bit of my heart set aside for Ed Harris and Gary Senise :) But I think they made it, all due to a bit of parcel tape, a sock and a lot of coffee.
I hope SJP Jr didn't end up with the last 20 minutes of the film :(
I used to like Mel Gibson but he showed his true colors, between being an anti-semetic and homophobe I am not interested in watching anymore movies from him. The ONLY movie I would watch of his now is the Patriot and that is only because Heath is in it.
enjoy watching BBM and Candy. I was so excited to hear that they are airing it as a tribute to Heath.
I watched I'm Not There last night (for the first time since I saw it in the theater back in Nov) and Heath was fantastic
there is a teeny bit of my heart set aside for Ed Harris and Gary Senise
mine too :)
I'm still waiting on my copy of INT. It's been on order with PlayUSA for a couple of weeks and they are currently out of stock. *sulks*
Hi anon :D I'll stick with Patriot too as far as Mel Gibson goes. I'm glad too that they chose Candy as part of the tribute - such a good film, although it disturbs me. I'm so glad to hear you loved INT - it's wonderful :D
Hey Ruby :D Bad PlayUSA - I suppose it's good it's selling but I hope you get your copy soon.
Meant to say everyone, please note a new feature on the WDW sidebar. A work in progress :D
Hi, Get Real, thankyou for telling me You Were There. O memories of my beloved cat T.S. who loved to sit in the window of Bedford St. groundfloor apartment where tourists would walk by and admire him and say "o that's a real Greenwich Village cat." That cat had such an ego!
& I know Jake is a CA kid, you can take the kid out of CA but you cant take CA outta the kid - but I am always thrilled when his darling feet walk the streets where I liv'd.
O BBMt will always be filled with emotion, for me, and others, I guess - the shot of Heath at BAFTAS made my heart fall to the ground knowing that he didnt receive more recognition for his role in BBMT - I think Ang said somewhere that he counted on H carrying the film, and Jake running away with it.
But I really dont think artists give a tinkers damn about awards, aside from the leverage it gives them - as Jake as said, you get a table, in restaurants. All the rest is straw. the satisfaction is in the art.
Well you dont need one more person to say Mel Gibson is a dickhead, but Im glad to chime in.
Sorry you're sick, Winterbird! Dont be!
Let's see, what else - the Bush video is priceless. Speakin' of dickheads - this guy takes the cake. Maybe the reason we USAans have not impeached the guy is because we feel sorry for him? Now that's stinkin' thinkin' ! ! ! (sorry for my mini-rant)
Thanks for Bafta memories, I love Jimmy Shamus, he's brilliant, his commentary with Ang on Sense and Sensibility was such a delight.
It took the cast and all involved awhile to come off the Brokeback Mountain high. Ive not, yet.
p.s.
WDW MORE about WDW channel! brilliant idea.
Hey Pia - thanks for a great comment :D
I have to say that I really enjoyed the Bush video, just for all the wrong reasons! Couldn't stop laughing then you realise he's the president of the US. I am so glad you enjoyed the BAFTA memories even though, as you say, the rewards mean little when compared to how so many of us feel about Brokeback. What an achievement in young careers.
That's great you like the idea of the WDW Channel - I just want to have a central archive for bits and pieces, to keep them safe and available and locatable. My computer harddrives are a complete muddle and I'm trying to organise all my files. This is part of the process.
If anyone wants videos included - requests etc - just let me know :D
Hey everybody! I understand everybody who says he/she is not going to watch BBM on British TV tonight because of the ad breaks! Although I will be curious to read about the reactions of those who might go through with it! I have no idea when BBM will be shown on free German TV, but I really hope that one of the "public" (?) TV stations will get it, not one of the private ones!!! I think there was only one time when a private TV station showed a movie without ad breaks - it was Schindler's List... Not sure if they would understand, that BBM would deserve, or even require the same!!!
I hope it will not be too long before they show it, though, cause new people will watch it for the first time - and hopefully "see the light"!
Rolling my eyes at Mel Gibson and raising my eyebrows at Madonna, too...
But I liked this: When asked why he accepted it, the late actor replied, “it was kind of a reaction against the comparison that I’m the new Mel Gibson.”
Hehe!!
About the latest Jake pics... He looked so deliciously thin in the pics from the airport, and now the biking pics? I guess that is what you call a V-shape, huh??
Oh, and yesterdays Cannes post? I can't believe that it is already one year ago!!! Made me think about that one day I want to see Jake in RL, too!!!! Sex and the City had a premiere here in Germany this week! When they can do it, Jake can do it too, can't he???? Or at least another London premiere!!!!
And YAY for the WDW channel!!!
Hey, recently I discovered by accident, that when I post here and am logged into my googlemail account at the same time my google identity shows up automatically! LOL, there is nothing in my profile , though - err, I think...
In case you are confused: Ulrike = Uli
LOL, look what I did...
Now you will all hope I will never post here again... >:D
The profile is still pretty empty, though...
Hey there Uli (going by the poshname :D). It's very handy that, with the google names :D
Sex in the City had a big premiere in London too. I'm sure one of Jake's films will premiere here, just as Jarhead and TDAT did, and then you've got to get over and wait in the freezing cold with me for about 11 hours :D
The BBC doesn't have ad breaks so it's typical that it was one of the commercial channels that bought BBM! Also it's a bit bizarre that Channel 5 is showing the Patriot at the same time as Channel 4 is showing BBM. You get no Heath films for months and then you get two clashing....
Thanks for liking the concept of the WDW Channel :D
Jake has the most perfect physique - he is just made to do all the stunts in PoP!
Have a good evening *)
BAD ULI!!! ;) That is my least favourite picture of Jake in the whole wide world and you know it! Ruby doesn't like it either :D Thing is though I can't help laughing whenever I see that picture as now I think of it as Ulijake :D
Go and fill up your profile xx
Hehe! See? I just want to make you laugh! And myself smile...
Please, can he stay? At least for a while?
On DC I feel like I will have to stick with Heath forever, but here I will play around with Jake and Jack! I miss my Jack avatar, too, so I might switch to sweet Jack one day...
One last thing: I can't think of anything I would love to do more than standing in the freezing cold with you for 11 hours! ;) Especially when the reward is to see Jake!!!
Oh... Okkkk, he can stay for a while :D Play around with Jake and Jack all you like here (just let us watch) - I misread your comment and thought you said 'sweaty Jack' :)
Ahhh Uli - that's the nicest thing anyone's said to me today :D I'll hold you to it, next time there's a premiere. Jake is some reward I can promise you :D
I can't think of anything I would love to do more than standing in the freezing cold with you for 11 hours!
standing around in the warm would've been nicer! Why can't they have summer award ceremonies with barbeque and marquees and lovely summery garden-party stuff? :D
Uli, sweet Jack as an avatar would be very sweet. *-)
WDW, can we never have George W here again ever, please? There is a remote chance he might visit the site, since he has all that spare time on his hands now that he's given up golf.
WDW, Whenever I come too I land here :)
Please have a huge laugh on ole Bushie for me and on John McBush too. He's desperately trying to run away from his voting record in our time of change...which is totally an anti-rights voting record from women to gays.
Then there is Bush who doesn't know what appeasement means talking about appeasement and Neville Chamberlain
I did want to share this Youtube with you...shame on me if you've seen or posted it...sicky today too...if it's a repeat please remove:)
This is the Youtube of the week for me and lots of other Democrats featuring the ignorant Right wing crazy radio talk host...I want share with you because Bush had no idea what he was talking about and neither does anyone who supports him.
Chris Matthews Smackdown youtube
Enjoy

back to bed
sass
Hi Sass! Thanks very much for that - I'll have a look at the link. I'm very badly informed about US politics (our own is bad enough) but I'm really interested in it, so thank you :D So sorry to hear you're not feling well either. I hope you feel better tomorrow :)
My sis claims she is going to watch and I don't know whether to call her to remind her or not. I don't think I will because she'll be more likely to watch if I don't.
Don't think I'll watch because the ads will be awful.
we're watching Indiana Jones. :D
I doubt my family will watch BBM tonight either, but I live in hope. :)
Someone didn't like my stream of consciousness?
:D
I feel weirdly nervous about it Rubes, so I know, and all that *
Imagine, there are people who haven't seen it.
Deletion was me, sorry! *-)
I love your streams of consciousness, A. :D
Cool :D
It's time, Rubes - BBM on real telly. Now.
still watching Indie. :D But it's good that our movie is on real telly. *-)
Jake didn't even get a name check, mispronunced or otherwise!!Outrageous! First ad break was just after the wood chopping scene, could've been worse, at least they left FNIT and SNIT intact:) Back again now, to stormy weather.
Hi all - I'm watching and all credit to C4 for the restrained ads - waited til after SNIT. A far greater distraction is offered by Mr WDW losing his watch and turning the flat upside down.... My dad told me he'd be watching it for the first time :D
Hey Nouskie, Ruby and TL :D I do love Indy - he shouldn't be on at the same time...
This is so weird, watching BBM with ads, but not as bad as I thought. Divorce scene coming up in a minute. I haven't watched beyond Mexico for ages, since before 22nd January. Don't know if I can face it but I'll try.
I saw BBM on the big screen yesterday and it was... I don't know. Heartbreaking because of Heath, wonderful in so many ways all over again, breathtaking. Nothing has changed. It was one of this night movie marathons where they showed many films throughout the night and you could choose what you wanted to see. Because of that there were mostly young people. There were no crowds, it was after 1 a.m. When Heath got out of the truck, someone behind me said:"This guy has died".There were giggles first, some nasty comments. Mind you, I'm from Poland, homosexual issues are not particularly popular here. But it's a really big city, things are easier here.Anyway, as the film progressed, the audience calmed down, even the "commentators" finally shut up. When we were leaving the cinema a bunch of guys were still talking about the movie behind me on the escalator. One guy said:"I liked this movie but...The son of a b**** was cheating on him!" But he said it in a warm and whole-hearted manner and the other guys laughed. They were moved by the film, they just would never admit it openly. As they were talking I looked at Heath's Joker poster on the wall and had to shut my eyes tight because I felt the tears prickling. I'm not usually a big crier but seeing BBM was emotional and it was after 3 a.m. They must've seen my face because they gave me a strange look and also looked at the poster.
So much for my big screen viewing after 2,5 years. I wish I had such a huge screem at home because nothing beats seeing Jake's baby blues on a big screen. It's like the ultimate cinematic experience.
well... I ended up watching the first 20 mins and the last 20 minutes - in between, we were watching a DVD with Mark Wahlberg - and I still cried at "2 shirts" scene...
I have to say, Heath's voice stirs so much emotion...
Candy is on now...
Deep breath and sigh... I watched it all the way through, thanks to Mr WDW who sat and watched it with me. First time in a long while and I'm a blabbering pool. C4 were almost to be congratulated with the way they handled the ad breaks - very few of them (half hour in between) and always at natural breaks - but what did they do over the closing credits? Showed a trailer for Crash, that's what.... :\
Zodiac, I'm so sorry to hear people were laughing during the film for you and spoiled it. As you say, people cover their feelings when they're moved but uncomfortable. But I'm glad you went to see it and supported its viewing.
I don't think it's possible to see BBM all the way through and not cry - just look at me...
G'night all - take care and I'll see you tomorrow :)
- but what did they do over the closing credits? Showed a trailer for Crash, that's what.... :\
Not only that they also speeded up the credits and missed out The Makers Make.
I watched the whole film and now I'm a complete mess :(
At least the ads weren't too intrusive but I wasn't happy about the Crash ad, or the shortened Rufus-less credits.
There's no way I can face Candy right now, I'm still reeling from BBM. Amazing that it still has that effect after all this time.
Hiya folks. I recorded BBM tonight as it was the full screen version, though the thought of ad breaks breaking the spell is just so distasteful.
As my husband was out of the room(he's so far refused my various requests to watch "Brokeback" with me), I had to watch the first few minutes just because it was the first time on British terrestrial TV. The minute the "Focus Features" logo came on screen my heart seemed to start sort of trembling.
I had to leave Jack and Ennis in the bar as they had their first drink together, turned to another channel, just any channel, then joined hubby in the kitchen who wanted to know why I was crying. When I told him he smiled an indulgent smile and raised a quizzical eyebrow.
Must admit, while my other half was in the shower I managed to tune back in in time for the SNIT - but that was all I could manage. My tribute to Heath was to watch BBM on his birthday, but that's the one and only time I've been able to bear it (but only just) since we lost him.
Mel Gibson - paah! What does a drunken,homophobic,anti-semitic bigot know about morals??!! And surely Madonna had to be taking the p"*$,having made soft porn videos to sell half her records and indulged in tonsil tennis with Britney to end a publicity famine!
Oh to rewind to that wonderful Bafta night in 2006 and have the power to re-write history knowing what we know now :-(
To end on a lighter note,WDW TV is a brilliant idea!
((((Big Hugs))) TL and to all of you who managed to watch BBM tonight and are in bits as a result!
While I was agonising just how to express my feelings in my last post a few of you have posted about your BBM experiences tonight. I can't believe Channel 4were so ignorant and insensitive to trail "Crash" of all films over the end credits and to cut "The Maker Makes" into the bargain. That is just unforgiveable!
I never liked Madonna as a person, but I thought she had a passable voice. Had she not convinced herself that she was an actress, she could have continued as a singer and been perfectly successful. I liked Mel Gibson when he was playing in goofy movies like the Mad Max and Lethal weapon films. Then he got very serious, with films like "The Passion of the Christ" and "Apocalypto." One thing that he got right was to be the first to praise Heath Ledger right after Heath died. It doesn't make up for Mel's previous derangement, but it was still nice to have someone talking about what a stellar talent Heath was, and how much the world had lost.
Ah, Paul, I cannot be so forgiving of Gibson, his views are far too nasty for my stomach.
As for Heath - Im watching Directors commentary of Im Not There now - Heath is beautiful and his role beautifully rendered. Director said he was stunned by H's performance in BBMt -
All you Brits going to bed red-eyed from bawling, I guess. My heart goes out to you.
almost bedtime, here. thanks for lovely post, today -
When I went to see BBM in the theater when it first came out I went by myself because I wanted to be able to focus on the movie without distractions, but boy there ended up being plenty of those anyway. I live in Las Vegas and I really was surprised by the reactions of the other people in the theater that night. There were about 20 people and of those two were male. When the scenes of intimacy came on the screen, there was lots of hooting and hollering, and so on. One of the guys in the theater who seemed to be in his early 20's carried on, loudly, throughout the entire movie - lots of Oh my God, and Oh GEEEEZ and so on. It would have been amusing if it hadn't been so distracting! I had to turn around and look at him a couple times, I wanted to ask him did you not have any idea of the subject matter of this movie before you chose to attend? But he was with a bunch of girls, so I imagine he was dragged there.
I just found the reaction of the audience really amazing, seeing as how the residents of Vegas seem to think they're so open-minded and progressive, and how I myself found the movie so deeply touching. I mean there were some people in the audience who obviously were touched by it as well, but overall I was really surprised by the way people behaved. I never went to see it in the theater again, much preferring to enjoy it on DVD without all the annoying distractions.
Morning WDW and everyone,
wonderful post as always, BBM changed my life forever, it changed my point of view about homosexual relationships and enriched the one about love of every kind.
And, least but not last, made me fall in love with Jake.:)
On a lighter note, there are new pics on IHJ:
http://www.iheartjakemedia.com/thumbnails.php?album=1215
It seems that Jake made his way to the beach yesterday...:)
Have a great day everyone.:)
Morning everyone, after an extremely emotional night but a great night too - and it was so good to watch BBM with Mr WDW and know he was also enjoying it and moved by it. Has to be some film for him not to snore through it... Also, I hadn't seen the full screen version before, I liked it.
Thanks to you all for these great comments :D
Back later. Unfortunately I'm not on the beach but being put to work!
Have a great day!
It gets me everytime. I shouldn't have watched it last night - it was too soon. Thank goodness for the distraction of RL, work, kids etc.
I found myself sympathising more and more for Alma who, if hurt could be measured, probably was hurt the most out of all of them. I also focused more on Ennis' struggle. BBM is a love that will never, ever grow old. It's only made me want to see every single piece of deleted scenes, behind the scenes footage (even if its them picking grass), on-set interviews I want to see everything.
Good to see Jake having some quality R n R with Reese. Sending out warm fuzzies and hugs for all of us who went through this last night - you're not alone.
Hi Sheba :D So you too went through the Brokeback wringer last night :) I would love to see all these extras too, but I just can't see it happening. I'd be loved to be proved wrong.
"Ah, Paul, I cannot be so forgiving of Gibson, his views are far too nasty for my stomach." [Pia]
I hope your stomach is doing better now, then. When I saw "Truth or Dare," I concluded that Madonna was homophobic because of the way she treated the gay men in her dance ensemble.
That was years earlier than BBM, but she seems not to have changed. A pity.
I have to stop thinking about both of them, or my stomach will be queasy....
