Third time lucky? Jake Gyllenhaal a choice for teens

Attention all teenagers - for the third time in five years, Jake Gyllenhaal has been nominated for a Teen Choice Award. Maybe in 2008, it'll be third time lucky for our Jake. You have to be a teenager to vote - or at least be able to remember in which years one must be born to qualify as a teenager.

So who is the competition for Choice Movie Actor in Drama? Here is the list: Channing Tatum (Stop-Loss); Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild); Jake Gyllenhaal (Rendition); Mark Wahlberg (We Own the Night); Ryan Phillippe (Stop-Loss). Reese Witherspoon is also nominated for her role in Rendition. Fortunately, Jake is not up against Robert Downey Jr, who is in another category for Iron Man, so you can also vote for him - so long as you're a teenager, of course. The results will be aired on Fox on 4 August.

As previously mentioned, this is not the first time that Jake has been nominated. Last year, Jake was in the running for Choice Movie Actor Horror/Thriller for Zodiac. Shia LaBoeuf won for Disturbia. The other nominees were: Ryan Gosling (Fracture); Jim Carrey (The Number 23); Josh Duhamel (Turistas).

Zodiac seems, perhaps, an unusual choice for Teen voters. The Good Girl back in 2003 doesn't. Jennifer Aniston won Choice Actress in a Drama/Action Adventure. Jake was nominated in the male category but he was beaten by Eminem in 8 Mile. Jennifer was also nominated for Choice Liar, while both Jake and Jennifer were nominated for Choice Lip Lockers.

So, if you're a teenager, and want to stand up for Jake against the likes of Mark and Ryan, go here and vote without any more todo. How can you resist this guy?

Young Jake :P

Zodiac in Teen choice? That's odd. But if American teens are watching it, I'd be very happy.

Am I the only one who's scratching their head wondering why anyone would ever find Shia LeBeouf attractive?

Hi Winterbird! Young Jake - such a contrast to Rendition Jake, another film I don't think too many teens would see. Zodiac is a very odd hoice. PoP will not! Shia LeBeouf just does nothing for me either!

Hope you're having a good night - I've been out for a works bash and the only veggie food option were little Bloody Mary canopes...

I'm mad cause it doens't let me vote...even if I lied about my age! lol

Hello, Wet Dark!

It is strange to see Jake be indicated by Rendition. I do not think that young people attended Rendition and neither of the other films shown.

I liked the Rendition. It is a film with an interesting story.
The cast is great, with emphasis on the Omar Metwally.

Also liked to see Reese working with Peter.
I would like to see a movie with those two together. Not in a romantic comedy but a drama.
Both are excellent.

Good morning everyone :D Nice and drizzly...

Hi Jazzy! Oh no - I am going to own up to having knocked a couple of years off my age... Just a couple.

Ola Monica - I agree that Rendition was not the type of movie to attract a younger audience (being rated R can't have helped) but it's good to see that Jake is on young minds. Rendition had an amazing cast :)

Have a good day everyone!

I am suspecting the sun is saving itself to wait for Jake to come over here in July... it's cloudy again!

I am trying to imagine Jake with hair-extensions. And I can't wait for him to joke about it on talkshows :)

Have a good day, everyone.

Never felt sadder about not being a teen anymore...
But I'm glad that Douglas/Jake isn't either! ;)

Have a good day WDW and everyone.:)

Morning Winterbird :D That's a good point about the sun, waiting to shine on Jake here. Jake will have some brilliant stories about filming PoP! I hadn't thought about that. I can't imagine he'd enjoy the hair extension process - I'm still hoping that won't happen!

Have a good day!

The only way I could pass for a teenager would be to argue that I was born four times in 1993. :-/
That would mean that my mother would have had to give birth four times at the age of 72, which would probably have killed her, had it even been possible (which thankfully it wasn't ;-)).

So, I am going to leave this matter in the hands of real teenagers.

I'm not going to dump on Shia LeBoeuf. I liked him in "Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull," and I discover that I also saw or heard him in "Surf's up," "Constantine," and several television programs. That Indiana Jones movie will almost certainly mean more and better movie roles for him, which is great.

Hey all. :)

Great pics of young Jake but I do love him best now!

Strange that they would have Jake and Ryan in that catagory. Neither of their movies seem like the type for the teens. *shrug*

Btw, WDW, fascinating story of your time in Africa with the monkey's a couple of posts back.

I'm with you, Winterbird, that I don't get the attraction to Shia LeBouf. I wish him well though.

Have a great day everyone.

Hi Paul :D - I did like Shia in Indiana Jones but really I thought that role could have been filled by almost anyone. But maybe he will get better roles and I can update my opinion of him - he hasn't registered with me yet.

Hi Get Real! I love grown up Jake too and I agree that these nominations are just odd! Like you, I don't have any feelings one way or the other for Shia. Thank you for liking my Africa monkey story *) I have been known to bore everyone to tears with my African stories :D

Do you mean your archaeological expeditions? I think those tales are veldt done! It's what I Kalahari day's work. ;-)

Hi all,

Again, I will refrain from voting, unless you count having the mental age of a teenager. *sigh* ;)

I liked Shia in his role in the latest Indiana Jones movie; he's very young, and I thought the role suited him, and he played it with a bit of an edge, and fun. I loved seeing him reminiscent of a young Marlon Brando in The Wild One. The movie was a lot of fun, and Indy's still got it!

I see Jake as a more mature, romantic leading man, as well as a character actor. I hope everyone, from teens to, ahem, mature types will come to see Jake in PoP! :)

Hi Paul! Groan!!! ;D

Hi netb :D I'm with you with the mental age and so I gave in to vote - just so I could see the artwork you understand... I can see Jake as so much more than a character actor and so much more than a romantic lead - there's gonna be some treats in store!

Hope everyone's having a good evening :D

WDW, I totally agree, so much more than both romantic lead/character actor, I just wasn't sure how to describe it! I'm also Bertie as well. I love the pic of him in your latest post, BTW. ;)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Bertie! I love that pic too :) Sorry I didn't answer this sooner - I've been watching Jumper ;) Good to see you!

OT: I just noticed that in the list of links to other sites WDW, you have DC and EnnisJack, but I don't see BetterMost.net up there. You know that there's a BBM website called bettermost.net, don't you WDW?

And I guess while I'm on the subject, I'm curious, how come there's no link for Gyllenbabble.com? just wondering :)

Puzzled - that's some tone you have there. Sounds like you have an agenda. Not in the mood. Links not up for discussion.

"Puzzled - that's some tone you have there. Sounds like you have an agenda. Not in the mood. Links not up for discussion.

What are you talking about? What tone? How can you hear anything when this communication is written, not audio?

I simply asked you a couple of questions, and no I don't have an agenda..... Over time, I've gotten an impression that there's some reason why your site and the Gyllenbabble site act all oblivious to each other, as in: neither one acknowledges the other, never mentions the other.... but I have no idea why that is. Hence the question.

And, as for the first paragraph, well... BetterMost IS a Brokie site, so I was just pointing that out, is it possible you've never heard of it? I can't think of any reason why you would not list it as a Brokie site since you list the other two......

Are those agendas? I thought they were direct questions. The fact that the BetterMost site is not listed? Yeah, I'll admit it, that is a mite disturbing.

Puzzled, your tone is not friendly! It is aggressive. And I repeat, I do not discuss the links. If you have a problem and a serious question, take it to email. Thank you.

So you say. You just don't like the questions, so you say they're unfriendly. Bah. Well I don't care about the first one, obviously you don't want to air the unfriendliness with Gyllenbabble. Fine.

I do not discuss the links.

Now that one's a puzzler. Take it to e-mail? Nah, I think I'll pass. There's obviously something not right about that situation as well. I guess I've made you uncomfortable.

PS: silly me, how could I forget to point out that the last "word" of my original message was :) , which is the international symbol for................... friendliness??

Sooooo you are incorrect, I was not being unfriendly. Thanks for the fn label!
