Coincidentally, when Jon here laughs about his own movie career, it's interesting to see on IMDb that he is listed as one of the cast of the one and only Nailed, in which he plays himself. Intriguing to think that we may get to see Jon Stewart interviewing Howard Birdwell, aka Jake Gyllenhaal - that, I really want to see.

Another of my favourite ladies, Anne Hathaway is featured in the magazine for the forthcoming Sunday Telegraph and she has this to say about the awakening that she underwent during the process of filming Brokeback Mountain:
'In 2005, though, she performed something of a handbrake turn, trading glass slippers for cowboy boots and a topless scene in Brokeback Mountain, and experienced a kind of professional awakening. 'It wasn't until Brokeback Mountain that I was, like, '"OK, this is what I want,"' she says. 'I want to tell stories that move people, and if I'm not moving people I want them to be so entertained that they forget about their lives.''

O my, Maggie! Thinking of Jake, in response to a question about How Are You Handling This - saying he's been preparing for it all his life. Likewise Maggie, who's playing it like a "star" and at the same time it feels all "play" and she's loving it. Along with being seriously present.
Maggie and Letterman - whoo! Jake said he was intimidated by DL, he was so intelligent: but Maggie has DL on a leash! She's as serious a flirt as J.
I like Jon Stewart alot. This was a lovely interview. He ouughtta be in pictures. Guess he is.

Hi Pia :D Thank heavens it's the weekend... At long last I've actually got to see the Letterman and Stewart interviews - big computer troubles - and I must say that Maggie reminds me so much of Jake with some of her expressions and some of the little things she does. They do both flirt and in such a good way. Jon Stewart is so funny here. I'd love to see him do a big Gyllenhaal special :D

Maggie is such a class act, and like pia said, she has DL on a leash! I remember the same happening when DL interviewed her when she was presenting Sheerybaby.
I've grown to like Anne Hathaway more and more since she made BBM.

OMG my lovely Ruby Rubes, please do not remind me of the torment that was otherwise known as 'waiting for Zodiac to come out in the UK'. As a result I followed that film around much of the known universe to see it on its opening days - well, LA, Cannes, London....
Cannes was good, won't deny it :D Absolute understatement of the year. So TDK is having a London premiere, then?
Thanks for letting me know earlier about Maggie on Jon Stewart, WDW:) I haven't watched any of the other videos or interviews yet, but as this one was on TV I watched it, and I'm so keen to watch this film now, I really can't wait. Got mine and TL Jr's tickets booked for Thursday afternoon :)

Hey TL! So glad you caught the interview. It makes a big difference when you can see them on TV. It's interesting in these interviews that they don't talk about the film at all - I like that - I don't want anything spoilt. Not long til Thursday :D I guess I'll be Saturday.

Hey WDW! I liked Maggie saying how she was never into Batman, but got such a thrill out of being rescued by him from a tall building. I've never been into Batman either, but Maggie totally sold it to me with that comment.
Of course, the main reason I want to see it is Heath, and that's why I've been trying to avoid stuff where he might be mentioned, cos I want to "forget" that it's him for the duration of the film, if that meakes sense.
It does make sense TL. One of the very enjoyable aspects of having Maggie in this film as well is that I can feel the excitement of TDK for her as well as the sadness for everyone that Heath isn't here. It must be amazing for Maggie and I can understand what she says as I was never sold on Batman before myself either. It's strange, having the excitement of Maggie being in the film and then the sadness for Heath. But I like that we have a Ledger and Gyllenhaal on the poster. Now I'm the one rambling and making no sense!
Talking of goodies, if you're in the UK, there's a TDK goodie bag with the Mirror tomorrow. I bought it today for the poster and kept that and gave the paper itself to Mr WDW for his diggers to read - they were very disappointed the poster was 'missing' and each went out to buy their own copy. People are mad for this film :D
It's going to be an emotional rollercoaster, that's for sure. I got the Mirror poster for TL Jr and will get the goodie bag tomorrow as well. I wonder if we'll get all this kind of stuff for POP too?
I agree, it will bet great fun to see Jon Stewart interview Jake in a movie :)

I've limited myself for a few reviews of TDK only... don't want to spoil too much. 2 and a half hours... I start to really looking forward to it now (before I was kind of "dreading" and "looking foward")

Hi Winterbird - posting at the same time :) I'm not reading too mnay reviews (they all give it five stars I can see that much) but I'm trying to catch some of the videos, especially now I see that they're giving away very little. I really want to see it but then I get sad thinking that once I've seen it, that will be it. But I need to see it.
I just got home after seeing "The Dark Knight." It was very entertaining. Both Maggie and Heath were delightful. I have some complaints about several plot points that were never resolved at the end. I think they missed the boat!
No movie is perfect, but this one will keep you in interested and involved. My heart goes out to Harvey Dent, who has to deal with a wrenching loss. :-(
I know you're all asleep, but over here I just got in from see Heath being brilliant. It was one hell of a ride! The movie is very well done, very authentic and of course, Heath was absolutely fantastic.

Now I'm home I am beginning to feel it very much. I've been thinking about how this has affected me all these months, times when I don't think of it at all for a good while, and suddenly, I get "ambushed."
The worst of it is, TDK is new, and I will watch over and over and enjoy it. Then of course we have Parnassus. Gilliam's movie has such a profoundly sad association, but of course I'll see it.
When the really bad times come, will be, for me, after that. Because Parnassus really will be the last. There will be such silence after Parnassus.
We'll look at pictures but eventually there will be no photos we've never seen before. We'll look at our beautiful boy, and he'll never grow any older.
Working thru those hard times to a kind of acceptance will take a while. I keep thinking Heath is out here somewhere in spirit, and he is frustrated and upset, because all this has happened, and he hasn't got used to it either. He'd certainly want to avoid the E! True Hollywood Story crap for sure! ;)
I'm certain, he would definitely chose to be here, if he could, even tho he gets all panicky and upset from the publicity. He would still rather be here.

That's so absolutely true, Anon... the silence is not what I'm looking forward to. So great though that it won't be 'deafening' as we have a great body of work to keep his memory alive.
Looking forward to seeing TDK. We have an IMAX theatre where I live so I'll be seeing it in all its glory. Batman in essence has always been a very sad story where there are no real winners and lots of sacrifices. The 60's Batman also has it's place but I'm so glad they didn't continue down that road ;D

Anon, thanks so much for that beautiful comment. I've been thinking about. After Heath died I watched the Knight's Tale and BBM almost straight away and I found it so comforting because Heath gives us these characters. I'm Not There I have far more trouble with as I see Heath everywhere in it and I saw it two days before he died. The Dark Knight for me will be like the former - I'll enjoy Heath in it and be able to watch the Joker and marvel at Heath's skill. Dr Parnassus I just don't know about. I don't know if I'll be able to watch it at all. All painful to think about, but that's what it's like now.
I like to think Heath would have had fun with the worldwide buzz for TDK. I'm sorry he's missed it. I'm choking up so I'd better finish up! Thanks so much for sharing your feelings.

I am new to Batman - except for the 60s show which I've always loved and laughed at! So I have very little idea of what to expect - but I am expecting something dark and dangerous :)

Dark and dangerous, WDW? Well, there's darkness in the title, and some of it gets into the movie itself. But Heath's Joker is filled with such lightness that he's like a butterfly in a field.
There's a scene where he's in a nurse's uniform, and he is so animated he's almost doing a little dance. I know he's supposed to be scary, and he is, but he gives off enough energy to light a small city. No wonder he was exhausted after filming each scene he was in.

I just got back from seeing Wall-E - a different kettle of fish all together, but I quite liked it, especially the beginning.
