Introducing Jake Gyllenhaal - and PoP to have more than 'exploding horses'

So, it turns out that there's another way to attract the attention of Jake Gyllenhaal - form a band, get on TV and have Jake introduce you - before you know it, you're friends for life (well, for the length of an award show, which can feel as long). With big thanks to the lovely Xenia, here is a video of Jake introducing lucky Avril Lavigne during TRL 2004.

Also in 2004, Jake was a presenter on the MTV movie awards alongside Scarlett Johansson and their job was to introduce the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Jake and Scarlett were themselves introduced by Lindsey Lohan.

Moving along to 2007, Jake was back on TRL to introduce a host of bands, but not Celine Dion.

On SNL in January 2007 it was the turn of the Shin Shins...

Jake appears on TRL every three years, we therefore have a couple left in which to form The Next Big Thing. With any luck we may get Jake involved.

And finally...

Jordan Mechner has been talking to Entertainment Weekly about the movie adaptation of his creation Prince of Persia. Jordan says that he had only one requirement for the film: 'This goes all the way back to the original 1989 game: somewhere in the story, there has to be an hourglass.' Which, if you have a film about sands of time, is a reasonable request.

I was also struck by this quote 'For a movie, it's all about the story. No matter how spectacular, the action is only gripping if it's happening to characters we care about. Otherwise, in the midst of all the Dolby fireworks and exploding horses, we'll start to get that restless feeling... you know, wishing we had our ten bucks back and that we were back home playing a video game.' Exploding horses? What kind of a film is this?

Good to see you, Good Girl :D I couldn't agree with Jordan more when he said that a film had to have more than just exploding horses! I know I like more than that in the movies I see...

I'm so glad you liked the post (and yes, thanks to Monica for the Heath link before). Jake does look wonderful but, yeah, as you say, when doesn't he? :D

Have a good night!

Good night, Wet Dark.

Very good to know that they are concerned about the story and not only with special effects.

I love to read all these stories about people who knew Heath.

Hi Monica :D Oh definitely. I'm sure PoP will be spectacular but I do want them to make sure we care about the characters, at least more than just one of them. The Heath stories are wonderful :)

No offense but I think this is like the best post of the bunch. Watching Mr. Jake Gyllenhaal play that harmonica is such a major turn on!!!! Now I need to go find my own harmonica playing man...

Hi Dialing! I'm so glad you enjoyed the post - and Harmonica Jake :D I bet Jake's a lot of fun at a party...

Have a great day everyone :D Nearly Friday...

Hey, what's happened to Blogger?

WDW, I just posted a video and look what a lovely post you made out of it! :)

Watching horses exploding in a movie is not really my idea of exciting but if there's gonna be also a reasonable amount of shirtless Jake in it I think I'll take a chance on it. ;)

Have a great day!

Heehee... does exploding horse mean a shirtless Jake? Is there a connection somewhere?

You made another really cute post, WDW.. well done! although to form a band to get Jake's attention... can I be the band's manager instead?

There's a small Jake pic of him at the airport (further down in the site) from London to LA in a German photo site, wonder if he's back in LA?

Hi there Xenia! Thank you! Yep, exploding horses is a small price to pay for shirtless Jake :D Hope you're having a good day!

Good job Winterbird! I've put the little pic up, with many thanks :D Maybe we'll get more! More chance of seeing Jake out and about in LA than there is when he's working just 40 mins from me! But maybe just a flying visit as I don't think they've finished filming yet. Thanks!

Hi everyone

Another great post WDW :) Jake looks breathtaking as usual.

I agree with the comments of Jordan Mechner any movie needs some substance to the characters for the audience to stay interested.

Blockbuster action type movies wouldn't usually be my thing but the more I hear about PoP the more I'm looking forward to it. Though that might be more to do with a shirtless Jake :)
