Smart Woman's Totty
Following on from yesterday's news that Jake Gyllenhaal has been voted the third most sexy man in the world by the well-informed readers of Cosmopolitan, here is the scan. It turned out to be the UK edition and, for its readers, Jake was the top 'spring chicken' as well as 'the smart woman's totty'.
It seems only right, considering the caption, that I also include here the page for the winner, Johnny Depp.
Cosmo's relationship expert says that we are attracted to movie stars (and not mere TV actors) because we are 'happy to admire actors from afar because their on-screen roles often reflect our romantic and sexual ideals. In real life, though, they'd probably disappoint us, so we prefer keeping them as a fantasy. The bigger the star, the more we think they can provide for us, which is what we ultimately are programmed to look for when finding a mate.' Hmmmm - I would say that they have missed the point entirely with Jake Gyllenhaal and the secret of his attraction. While I marvel at Jake's portrayal of Robert Graysmith and Douglas Freeman, it isn't them, or even Jack Twist, who fills my dreams.
So, why is Jake number three on this list and number one on mine? Could it be because of the face, which gathers together perfect parts and then illuminates them with expression and a twinkle?
How about the arms and the chest? And the legs - or all the other bits (like his hands)?
The bum's not bad...
Jake usually knows exactly what to wear and when.
Or is it because of Jake's smile and that famous GyllenGiggle? And that he likes to have a laugh.
Jake looks after himself and is energetic, powerful and sexy.
But he's also sensitive...
Jake is caring, loving friends and family, and likes little better than to cook for the one he loves (although whether he does the washing up is another matter).
Jake is a lover of the arts - he likes to read, listen to music, do crosswords and keep up to date with the latest news. He's interested in politics and the environment and would be entertaining company in a pub (and would get a round in).
Jake is good at his job.
Jake has a great car.
And he's sexy without even thinking about it.

And I really like the new Jake pics! I enjoy seeing him in "real" shoes (as opposed to sneakers ;)) so much! And especially in those shoes, they feel like old friends, like the postal T-Shirt... LOL!
Hm... Can I say something to the pic of "Sir" Ben Kingsley in yesterdays post? Obviously everybody really liked his look, but I think he looks kind of cheesy, stereotypish, can't find a better word... :-/
But thanks for showing us the pic anyway - it's always good to see some news from PoP. And also thanks for the Parcour (sp?) video a few days ago... That was amazing, and it kind of occurred to me, that we will really see Jake in action - in a lot of action (well, duh! *rolls eyes*). I don't know, I never really realized how it might be. But I really hope that it will be done in a way that it looks real - and not artificial... Shit, how long do we have to wait??? 2010? Damn!

You know me, I'm a Nike girl through and through but I do like these old shoes of Jake's and I love the shirt, flapping like that. But what on earth was he doing with such a big scarf on a lovely day like that :D
I agree with your view of Sir Ben's pic. He looks every inch the traditional dastardly vizier to me - reminds me of Tom Baker in Sinbad (was that Tom Baker?) but Sir Ben can do that well. I wonder what Alfred Molina looks like in PoP.
We really will see Jake in ACTION in PoP. It's going to be amazing! I'll have to book the summer off work so I can move into the cinema... Good to see you, Uli! Don't be a stranger :D
I was glad to see Sir Ben yesterday, he can play bad guys SO well. I was hoping to see more of Jake as the prince. I am glad to see that the Star's report about him injuring his eye seems to be BS. (I wish something else was BS. Like Jake's parent's divorcing among other things we've heard or seen.)
I hope he is able to finish up that movie and that Brothers will still come out this Dec.

That is so true about Jake. There are so many reasons why he's our guy but then there is a little bit more than that, which cannot be defined. For me, it's something in the smile and in the eyes.

I do think Jake is appealing to smart, intelligent, powerful, confident women. The fact that he, "the spring chicken", is the only under 30 guy on this list also shows that women perceive him as a mature, confident, self-aware man. I also think his well-known penchant for older women proves he is capable to catch up with them and satisfy them on many levels and he is not afraid of what they might expect from him.
He is a class act and I love it about him.

So true and there's also this amazingly appealing boyish quality that oozes out and he's not afraid to show his uncertainty which comes across as being 'honest'. I don't know what to think of him sometimes - he's just like a box of chocolates (you know chocolate had to figure into this converstion at some point!! ;DD

One of my best friends, who is a little bit older than me(she's 29)said, that she wouldn't be able to lust after Jake because he's younger than her, which made me roll my eyes (I mean, it's 1,5 year difference)and tell her that women in their forties adore this guy no end and this is no excuse:) She agrees he's hot though,looks at his pictures when I make her:) and listens to me when I start rambling about him uncontrollably. I dragged her and another friend to see Rendition last year and after that we hit the bar and she even proposed a toast to Jake,which warmed my heart and made my Bloody Mary taste extermely good. I also have a friend who was born on the 20th Dec 1980 and she only remembers Jake as a guy who is "one day older than her", because I told her that. She always goes "Oh Jake...Yes,I remember him. He's one day older than me, right?" I joke that she remembers me not as a friend but as a person who is two days younger than her.

For me, not only is Jake absolutely perfection as far as his physical attributes, but he has an accessible, brooding, sweet, sexy "thing" going on.
He is infinitely interesting. He seems fun-loving and kind. I understand now why sometimes a public figure is described as "magnetic," because he sort of pulls people to him effortlessly. He also seems comfortable with himself. Very self assured.
There are lots of physically attractive men. But they are often bland and uninteresting. There's a lot going on with Jake.

Jake usually looks as though life is a great deal of fun. He lifts my spirits when I just see pictures of him smiling. He reportedly makes wisecracks between takes. Okay, throwing that prop key up in the air turned out to be a bad move, because it cut his face, but it's nice that he likes to play.
Okay, that first video was so great. Jake wanted to go sign stuff and even apologized when he couldn't!! *sniffle, sniffle*
