I was very happy to come across this video again.
Talking of happy, when Jake smiles his broadest smile and grins with every muscle of his face, it's a pure delight to see. And so here are a few pictures of times when Jake has been fit to burst and when we have burst with him through the sheer thrill of a happiness shared with a very special man.
In this picture, you can almost see through the mask to the broad smile it fails to hide.

I remember voting and voting and voting for the MTV awards. And then finally, when the awards were aired I was on vacation in Greece. I almost went insane before I found out if they had won.

Hi Anna! Thanks for commenting :D I know - how we view these things at the time. I remember watching this - they actually showed it on UK TV and it was one of the few times I actually saw Jake on British TV during 2006. I was so happy he won. I remember voting too :D And I love Justin so he's a bonus!

It's funny you should have this post today - on the way into work, I heard "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley, who were the musical guests the night Jake was on MTV to accept the award for Best Kiss, and I always think of it when I hear that song. Both made quite an impression me. Great pics and a great smile, especially the last one, making Jake look like an actor in ancient Greek theater.
Haven't seen Bond yet, will this weekend. :)
Hi Shy Anon! Oh yes, that was great Gnarls Berkley (reminds me of Jake singing along) - I remember him and his band dressed as Star Wars characters. The last picture is special :D
First I must say, I love Jake I am totally all about Jake. But I remember when I watched this and TiVoed it too. All I could focus on was his sweaty arm pits. I couldn't figure why that was. He always looks so cool. But I love Jake, sweaty arm pits and all.

I remember voting and voting for the MTV awards too! those are some very good memories and Jake seemed so smitten when he accepted the award (and on behalf of Heath too), it's a gorgeous sight.

o gosh. memories. odd to remember how VERY upset I was when Justin gave Jake a smack on the butt, I felt it was disrespectful, also the joke about the ranch hand jobs.

Happy memories of this award - I remember thinking Justin was joshing though (would have said joshing Jake but too much alliteration ... ). He applauded wildly so he was fine with me :)

Memories, indeed. Totally agree with Pia about butt smacking. It wasn't nice at all. You could see Jake wasn't happy. I also remember the sweaty arm pits;) For some weird reason, I didn't mind them.It was just a human thing.
His smile lightens up whole rooms, stages, screens, etc. His giggliness, giddiness and the way he closes his eyes when he cracks himself up and starts laughing... Every time I see him like that I want to squeeze him tight and pinch his cheeks:)

hi Good Girl :D I still don't take JT's comment as seriously as some do, so I don't think it's just a matter of language. But I really loved the whole event and Jake looked, well he looked so gorgeous (and hot!)
The courage of Heath and Jake in playing these roles - and the dignity with which both of them handled themselves throughout - is something I will never forget.
Three years of Jake being a butt of humor (pun intended) and it still continues! - Heath also weathering homophobia, I dont want ever to forget this.

Bafta is one of the best moments. I was very happy with the victory of Jake and our film Brokeback.
I also liked much of his speech. It was something natural, from someone who did not expect to win.
Unfortunately our Heath not won. But all right.
I thought Jake looked exceptionally handsome at the MTV awards that year. Count me in for lovin' the sweat, it's sexy and masculine. ;)
Brokeback was amazing film, regardless of idiotic jokes, it's one of my favorites ever.

And thanks for posting that video. I haven't seen it in such a long time... I still cringe at that lame and extremely bad delivered ranch handjob joke... And I have to admit I am more bothered by Jake's and Eva Mendes' awkward hug than by Justin Timberlake smacking Jake on the butt... It is quite possible that Jake was not at all amused, especially because there were just too many of those jokes at the time (not much later there was Lance Armstrong wasn't he?), but I am really more bothered by the Eva Mendes hug...
It's strange: All this feels like much much longer ago than two years... Sooooooo much has happened since then... :-/ Ach, I am getting all melancholic here...

The Bafta Awards videos are among the ones I first watched about Jake and it's been then that I fell in love with that gorgeous man and his radiant smile. I think we all agree Jake's smile has its own healing power...
The MTV Movie Awards OTOH, although I was excited and proud of Jake and Heath's winning obviously, always sounded weird to me. Jake looked unusually nervous (I think that the armits said it all ;))and uneasy in coping with the upteenth lame joke about BBM. Maybe he was just tired I dunno, whatever... His acceptance speech for Best Kiss warmed my heart though, so moving and mature and sincere, so like Jake. Loved it.

Evening all :D Loved to see that video again. It truly warmed my heart to see it - I remember it like it was yesterday. This also gives me hope that 2009 will fly by very quickly to bring us Brothers, Nailed and PoP for 2010.
Jake handled all the crude jokes with so much grace and good humour. Not a big fan of JT but I admire his talent and his sense of fun. That's a dude that looks like he's enjoying his life to the full. Y'all know JT couldn't resist the Gyllenbutt. Could you? :DD Oh.. and his speech about all of us struggling with love... aahhh *melts* - it just hit the right cord and was so appropriate.
Heath has been on my mind again. I can't dwell on him too much as the sadness can pull me down but I would have loved for both of them to have been there for the MTV movie awards. Heath was at Sundance but Jake wasn't so at least we have that.
And, thank you WDW. Jake's kilowatt smile always lights my day.
NB: Totally P'd off that no-where on this Green Earth can I find a JG calendar - every other Tom, Dick and Harry but not Jake :o((((
